Suggestion for the author...

You used a form of the word growl 23 times. Redundancy becomes irritating. There is so many other ways you can express a statement Versus being repetitive I hope this helps for future books.

Wow Spencer is getting closer to finding out more about her husband's death. Some crazy crap going on in Sweetwater Falls, my first thought was Pamela Smart. Mrs. Leary was ungrateful from the start.

Forbidden in the Falls by Elle Gray 6/5/2024 Kindle

This is the last of a pile of this series I was given, and the seventh I’ve read. Once again, we are hinted at Sheriff Song’s past life problems, but they remain unresolved. So is her hands-off relationship with Ryker. In this install Spenser Song is called to a home invasion where a slightly injured distraught wife survives her gun-shot husband. While most concede this is a home invasion gone wrong, Spencer sees more. A black truck was seen in the neighborhood and a recognized decal draws her to a nearby reservation where the local sheriff proves, at first, difficult, and reluctant to help. The investigation leads back to the scene of the crime and the connections among the parties.

I found this installment in the series more enjoyable, but once again it was not without some illogical decisions. This is a simple and quick read, but far from the best.

Forbidden in the Falls(A Sweetwater Falls Mystery Book 7)

I truly loved loved this book, it is amazing how Sheriff Song works a case. It makes logical sense, she finds the crime, and she throws out a big net and narrows down the suspect pool, until she finds the criminal. I feel this is how real police officers do their job, but it is kind nice to see the inside of the process. You know, how they look into the victim' s life and circle out from there, checking family and friends, and then co-workers and jobs. It can get very complicated, but it is solved by the end.

Unbelievable

Why would someone break into a house shoot the male resident and not steal anything even things out in the open? Who was it? Who owns the loud black truck? So many questions but no clues. All hands on deck, interviewing neighbors, going through financials, talking to the Chief of the reservation, talking to prisoners, talking to teachers. Also having NYC calling regarding Spencer's old FBI partner. Thank God for Ryker and Annabelle. Great job.
Kept me guessing. Thank you. On to Book 8.

This series featuring Sheriff Spenser is a light read mystery for me. There is a home invasion, the wife beaten but the husband shot twice and in a coma. Nothing is stolen, just a lot smashed. It easily points to the culprit but takes a while to get there.

Meanwhile, Spenser is still haunted by the death of her husband nearly 2 years ago and receives threatening calls to further that story. It will eventually bring her danger in a future book.

riveting

It is so sad how one person can manipulate and control another, I loved how Spencer would not let go of her gut feeling and got the criminal in the end. I am also thrilled that Ryker and Spencer finally got serious about their feelings for each other - I can’t wait for the next case of which I am sure will be a showdown between Spencer and Alex please don’t let anything happen to her or Ryker

I have enjoyed the Sweetwater Falls books as a light, easy reading series. One thing still bothers me about these books. Sheriff Song makes a big deal about reiterating to interviewees that she can’t discuss the specifics of an ongoing investigation but then goes home to Ryker, a civilian friend, and discusses every aspect of her current case, including names of all involved. I’d give these books a higher rating if this inconsistency wasn’t in every book.

I’ll say it again: these are good stories, but the grammatical errors, the misspellings and the mixing up of character names is so frustrating, it makes it impossible to enjoy them.
Book #7 is the worst. This author needs new editors and proofreaders. I found myself paging backwards several times, trying to figure out why a character had been replaced by another in the plot, only to find the name or sex had been confused!

Relevant Cases

Except for a few editing problems this crime novel is well written with good character development. In the last week I have read seven of this author's novels. The stories are relevant since the crimes are things we read about or hear on the news. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

One lead follows a truck with a bad muffler to the reservation and young Indian boy who owns the truck but he loaned the truck to his friend.

what a dismal tragedy

Spenser’s life stays complicated.

A shooting in what appears to be a home invasion leaves a man in critical condition and his wife battered.

The evidence doesn’t quite align with robbery.

Thrilling

This was so hard to put down. The characters are realistic, naive, and manipulative. I hope I don't have to wait to long for the next book to come out because I need my Sweetwater Falls fix. Its so addictive. As always happy reading.

creepy: spoilers

Sometimes the creepiest books are the ones that are too close to what could happen in real life. A teacher preys on and grooms a student to do their bidding…another great story!

Who is guilty?

Elle Gray has another winner. Spenser Song is having a hard time finding who the killer is. She doesn't get a break until she keeps going back and questioning every one time and time again. This is a great story and a great series. Well worth reading.

The proverbial, couldn't put it down!

Refreshingly clean and wholesome mystery, murder, and mayhem! I like mysteries but dislike copious cursing and sex scenes. However; I am a little upset with the author keeping me from my yardwork!

A Good Read

This is the 7th book in series I have read, so in a few places it was repetitive. But I like the authors writing and understand it may be in case the reader has not read any of the series or it has been some time since they read the last book.

love series…but

This book starts off with several errors in grammar. It’s a great book and I really love this series, but there were quite a few errors that could have been easily fixed.

Wow

When something is too good to be true, it usually is. Spencer will go after anyone she thinks is guilty and the Sweetwater residents are liking some of her arrests less and less.

Forbidden in the Falls is the story of a teacher who was victim of a home invasion. Or was she?
This is the next episode in Spenser Song series by Elle Gray. Good, easy read. This one kept me engaged and wanting to know how Soenser would get her wo-man.

This one was hard to get through

This is the seventh book in the series. The first six books have painted the sheriff as a astute, logical person. This one almost shows her as a bumbling idiot.

Great intellectual mystery

Another good chapter in Spencer's story. This time we know the perpetrator but watch Spenser develops the proof. Good character development and an interesting look at the power a teacher can have in a student's life.

Good book

Another great book in this series, Sheriff Moon seems to always figure out the bad guy. A shooting made to look like robbery, but then things change drastically. Good mystery in this book.

Super good

Another great one, with the characters I have grown to love. Well thought out storyline that has just enough mystery with normal life thrown in. This has been an awesome series.
