I’m TR Cameron, science fiction author. I’ve been an avid consumer of the genre since I was six, I think, when I broke the seal on my Dad’s copies of the Asimov Foundation books. It’s been all downhill since then.

I have a day job that I love most days, and writing is pretty much my only consistent hobby. When I find time that’s not already filled with my wife, my daughter, my writing, my work, or dodging the affections of our clowder of cats, you can find me playing video games (currently Dishonored 2 – I’m a little behind the times on this one), watching things (Marvel movies, American Gods, Agents of Shield, Justified, The Expanse, Gotham), playing board games, or, naturally, reading.

My favorite authors in Sci-Fi are David Weber, Jean Johnson, John Scalzi, CJ Cherryh, and the giants: Asimov, Pohl, Bear, Heinlein, etc. I read a lot in other genres too, and am a big fan of Matthew Woodring Stover, Michael Anderle, Jim Butcher, and I could go on and on and on. If I had to choose one favorite, though, it would be Stephen R. Donaldson, whose Thomas Covenant series was transformative for me.

Probably my pie-in-the-sky dream for my writing career is that someone would make a movie or television show of my books and I could be a part of the production. Sure, unlikely, but a clowder-dodger can dream, right? My more practical dream is that I can keep writing and both entertaining and connecting with my readers for years and years to come.

Too short! Too short! TOO SHORT!

Let me be clear that this is a full-length novel, not abbreviated or encapsulated in any way, and my complaint, above, is in now way intended to suggest such a thing. Nonetheless, I feel like Number 5 in the old movie, “Short Circuit,” as he screams, “More! More input! Number 5 need input!”

As TRC has expanded into more storytelling, the action scenes have improved, too. There’s a brighter, faster rhythm, and the whole thing moves at such a rapid pace, that I found myself reaching the end unpreparedly, coming to a full stop quite unexpectedly. I’m still reeling in my seat from the whiplash.

I should also warn you not to drink any liquids while reading this particular volume, as TRC is in rare form with his snark and you may find some of those liquids passing out your nose as you snort uncontrollably at a few of the lines. There. You’ve been warned. ENJOY!

This book continues the Marshall's involvement in the Rose & Dragons fude.
There is a lot of action both normal and magical. This sort of ends in a Cliffhanger, but next book immediately available. Narrator does a Great job with the various characters voices and the entire storyline.

Oh dear. Cait and Aza are being kept really busy, as usual. But Cait now has the added problem that the assassin she foiled, but who escaped custody, is now out to get her.

Not only that, but she's still having to deal with the Shifters who are determined to take the Land back, that her people have lived on for centuries.

Between this, her Marshals job, her stints with the SOG, and the battles between the Roses and the Dragons - two warring Gangs in her new City - Cait and Aza are finding it hard to get the time they need to train - or even just be together, in order to strengthen their partnership!

But they've had one thing go right, and this was Aza's family giving them the ability to speak to each other, mind to mind!

That, alone, is a joy and comfort to them both.

As usual, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It's a perfect continuation of the series, and is opening up all of the various situations that Cait is having to deal with.

The characters and plotline are going from strength to strength, and I'm being truly entertained with each page that I read.

Now that I've finished this book, and completed this review: "Go on, peeps, buy the series - you won't regret it!" I'm going to go on to read the bonus short story, sent free to me by T R Cameron - the prequel to this whole series, which is set in Cait's early years with the SOG: 'A Witch With Spirit'.

Once I've finished this, I'll go on to the next book, and I'll read that, too, then catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think about it!

I am enjoying this whole series very much.

Cait and Aza are busy fighting the bad guys again. the dragon have given them the gift of both being able to hear each other.

Cait finally got the family to agree to her going to see the dragons so she can talk to Aza as well as Aza talk to her. She and the family have been fighting the wolves and training for what ever else happens to them. Caits marshal group has been investigating the Roses and Dragons and trying to find the assassin before he strikes again. She is still being stretched in too many directions but loving every second of it. The Dragon Lady asks for help and think get messy

just not for me

So I love Cait’s family and their magical drama and situation. It’s perfect. Love the stuff she has to get done and I love her support. I even love her job. But it’s the way things are written that make it clear this isn’t the type of style for me. And that’s a bummer.

Everything drags for me with the writing style. They’re detailing things I find small and easily overlooked and it doesn’t add to things. There is no pace. Even the drama and sad parts lose their appeal. But that’s just me not clicking with the writing style.

I should probably quit, knowing this, but I wanna know what happens. And it’s not a one-star rating. So…

Another smash hit!

I have no idea how the authors keep coming up with so much action that is seems like it's spilling out the book. I love the banter between Carl & Cait. Thank goodness Aza & Cait can finally both speak telepathically to each other. It makes them a much more lethal fighting team. Especially since there is no interference to worry about. No battery failure, etc. In this one Cait aligns herself with the Dragons leader to stop a possible assassination attempt. She also faces her nemesis Carl Winston again.

Once again Cait, US Marshall & Aza, dragon are in the thick of several stormfronts, shifters on the home mountain wanting to kick all the witches out of their ancestral lands, both the Rose & Dragon crime gang wars and Carl Winston, the assassin from The Syndicate, who escaped prison and has a grudge against Cait.

This is an action-packed series that doesn't let up for a moment.

One very good thing is that Cait is now able to communicate with Aza telepathically, due to Aza bonding with her, according to the Dragons.

Looking forward to the next instalment.

Extraordinary read!

***Note*** if you absolutely hate cliffhangers, wait to read this series when it is concluded.
I'm usually in that category, but I have found these characters too fascinating to ait that long. There is a great deal of content in these segments, and I find it helpful to read each at least twice, before going to the new release. It is a very entertaining series. Enjoy!

Love Aza

I do not understand why she has to use her own money. Shouldn't the places she works for pay for the stuff needed to get the job done? Makes no sense to me. Its not like she is doing the work for herself. I also do not like how her family puts her down all the time. Its getting old. I get the kidding but grow up enough is enough. For someone who has been in training since she was young why is it she still has no clue in most? Just a lot of I don't get why...

Loved it!

T.R. et al... Wonderful job! This protagonist and series is coming together! My only thought is it feels a bit clumsy to me when you shift perspectives from Cait to a supporting character. The only reason I say this is because it happens so infrequently that it sorta throws off the flow. Just a thought, but what do I know. Either way I am a fan and am diving into book 4 now!

This series putters along on a steady three star rating. It is decent enough urban fantasy, period. So far I have enjoyed the series like you enjoy a burger when you are hungry. The burger will not get any stars in Guide Michelin but it makes you satisfied. About the same with the books in this series.

Again the book is co-written by T.R. Cameron and Martha Carr with Michael Anderle slapping his name on it just because… I think most of it is written by T.R. Cameron, luckily, because I did not see much of the Martha Carr nonsense, which I have really not liked in other books written by her, in it.

The double story, one centered on he work as a Marshal and the other around her witch family and their furry problem, continues and develops. There are the usual, snarky dialogue, investigative work and fantasy action as we read along.

Actually, the review of this book is pretty much the same as the review I made for books 1 and 2.

Cait has a lot on her plate

Cait and her dragon are keeping very busy. Not only does she have her Marshal duties, but she has to help her coven against shifters and help protect one of the leaders of a gang. There is a lot of action in this series along with great characters and storylines and I always look forward to each new book in the series.

GRAND SLAM SERIES!!!

OMG! Love this series! The more stories I read in this series the better it gets. The first book was a little slow, but all the characters were being introduced along with the world they live in. After that WOW! The stories just took off at a fast pace. Suspense and action galore. Love all the magical stuff they do!! Please keep writing these stories.

Witch With a Badge, the third book of the Witch Warrior series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). This is definitely a series that should be read in order, as each book builds around a main plot. The authors have built a team of wonderful characters, with interesting dynamics between them. An excellent series with a fast pace and a fine edge of tension.

Cate and her partner Angel are both going through the final 6 weeks of kick your butt boot camp in order to qualify to become a US Marshall. Apparently magics are known by all. They make it through a hazardous "cry for help" rescue but not without injuries and a wild story. Enjoyable short story, well written and good plot.

More holes than plot

Just one example - warded in a clearing talking to shifters, run to move fight to a different clearing, fight to escape... Then portal directly home. Why not portal from the first clearing?!?!

Entire technomancer VR-like thing also just makes no sense.

Plenty of action and plots to keep this wayward book lover's attention. Good character dialogue and continued progression in the series. The narrator did a great job bringing the book to life.
