About the author

M. E. Kerr was born Marijane Meaker in Auburn, New York. Her interest in writing began with her father, who loved to read, and her mother, who loved to tell stories of neighborhood gossip. Unable to find an agent to represent her work, Meaker became her own agent, and wrote articles and books under a series of pseudonyms: Vin Packer, Ann Aldrich, Laura Winston, M.E. Kerr, and Mary James. As M.E. Kerr, Meaker has produced over twenty novels for young adults and won multiple awards, including the Margaret A. Edwards Award for her lifetime contribution to young adult literature.

This book is called “What Became of Her by: M.E.KERR.” This book takes place in the small town in Pennsylvania. It starts off with a rich women named Rosalind Slaymaster who doesn't look so rich and she meets a boy named Edgar Tobbit because out of the blue asked his mother and him to dine with her. After awhile of think she was not rich he came to realize she was rich she also wasn't like any other person either. She had a doll to that she had took care of she wanted Edgars mother to Taylor the doll a suit. Edgar also had meet a girl one year younger than him she was 15 years old she was Mrs.Slaymaster nices. Mrs.Slaymaster invited Edgar and his mom to a party and at that party Mrs.Slaymaster tolled Edgar that she was going away for awhile so she wants him to take care of her niece just be there for her like a friend.
What I dislike about this is some parts are confusing in the book but when you get to the end it becomes less confusing and makes sense that is when the book comes together. Sometime the book was predictable in the first chapter was predictable. The ending was okay I guess it was kind of sad with a mix of different feelings. The author's style of writing is okay and cool. This book has about 244 pages and 27 chapters it not that long of a book it a cool book for teen to read.
This book was in between dislike and like it was a okay book. It was not to easy or hard it was just right. It is realistic fiction and it has a bit of dram and romances. Why I recommend this book is it is a nice book to read and relax or just for fun sit and read.

The novel is poorly written and most occurrences in the plot seem poorly woven into the story. Mrs. Slaymaster obviously has a sad life and this fact is clearly the focus of the entire novel and most other characters only serve to enhance this focus. Not much about the plot is clear until the very last chapters of the book as almost the entire first half is spent gathering irrelevant details about minor characters. The diary of Mrs.Slaymaster seems like an afterthought which the author added in to help the reader understand the plot but it ended up being more of a confusing distraction to the event-chain. Overall, the work seems like that of an inexperienced writer and I don't recommend it anyone else.

I read this book for my english class. It was very odd, and you had a lot of questions unanswered. I never really understood the point of the doll, or why her niece and her never made effort to make themselves have a better relationship. I like the integrity that Ms.Slaymaster had and how she did her all to become to the top and shine n all those who overlooked her. Overall it was pretty good and you'll be hooked because you learn something new about Ms.Slaymaster everyday. I also love they mentioned how she was left by the man she loved, but then made it kind of like a happily ever after.

This book was OK. Rose Fitch's life was sad. She was in a way abandoned by the guy she loved, and to have her revenge, she became rich. When she was rich, she became mean. Her and her niece Julie went back to Texas. There, she bought a humongous house and at the same time, only befriended a few people.
This book basically told about Rose Fitch. She became Rosalind Slaymaster. She became an overprotective aunt, and then died a sad woman. Her niece became a happy wife and then E.C. Tobbit and Neal lived happily ever after.

An interesting read once the reader gets a little bit into the story. The reader is unavoidably drawn into the book, wanting to know more about the past as well as the revenge Mrs. Slaymaster is planning. The book takes an interesting view point because the main antagonist could very well have been a protagonist in another story, as well as being a victim. We sympathize with the antagonist, she is not an evil woman.

I didn't really like this book so much, but I can say this book is pretty sad that people tend to ignore others when they aren't really 'rich'. Rose Fitch was forgotten but eventually she became much better but is still isn't perfect with the new people that she is living with as they are giving her some difficulties. I don't know what I would like about this book because it feels like the Characters were all adults and really hard to relate to.

This book was a very interesting book, but the best thing I like about it is at the end you see the changes of people and what effects you can really have on a person. Every chapter seemed to be very interesting and the characters were very weird. It seemed like sometimes like there were some parts I couldn’t understand and didn’t really get what they were talking about. This book showed how sometimes you don’t truly know a person.

Edgar Tobbit and Neal Kraft met at therapy and have a plan to take revenge on Mrs. Slaymaster. He really likes Julie and when Mrs. S decides to move, he decided to steal Peale in order to stop Julie from moving away. A search begins! Great book!!!

I have always had a deep and abiding love of M.E. Kerr. Her best book(for me) was her memoirs Me Me Me Me Me. She is such a bomb YA author, even though I doubt any teens know who Carson McCullers is...I still adore her style.
