or anyone who has not read Janice Sims new book you really should. It is a wonderful story about facing life's challenges when you have lost the love of your life and in Amina Gaines and Jake Wolfe they both has experience that lost.
With a name like Wolfe I picture this man as being Tall, Fine, Compassion, Passion and Loving and Protector and Jake is all that and more. Then you meet Amina and she is everything Jake is except tall but she is a woman who can handle herself with the best of them. Amina ex-army pilot who decided to retire from the army when she lost the love of her life.
After Jake Wolfe lost the love of his life he became a workaholic, he figure he wouldn’t or couldn’t feel anything, but he eventually realize that you have to take life one day at a time.
DEA agent Jake Wolfe literally fell from the sky in the plane he was in and while taking a hike with her grandfather in the Great Smokey Mountain Mina and grandfather saw and heard the plane when it crash. As an ex pilot Mina knew that that the plane was in distress and when the plane went down she went into rescue mode. Finding the location of the plane and not knowing what situation she would be walking into she cautiously approach the plane to found that there was any survivor.
Once Jake & Mina had been checked out by the doctor and release and had taking her back home in the mountain, he and his superior realize that the mission was not complete and that Mina and her grandfather could be in danger. Once Jake return to the mountain and began spending time with Mina they realized that something was happen between them and although Jake was ready to move forward, he notice that Mina wanted to move forward but her memory of the man she love was holding her back.
I absolutely these characters Ms. Sims has crafted. In Safe In My Arms we meet the next Gaines sister which happen to be ex-army pilot Amina Gaines. Mina was not looking for a hero or love but she found it in Jake, he was understanding and patience. It had been three years since the love her life had died, and Mina was having a real hard time letting him go, because that was what was holding her back from Jake but instead of mad or frustrated he said these words to her (from the book) “Because Jake was willing to wait, Mina was touch by his understanding, but she was beginning to wonder if she would ever get over this stumbling block.
Every time she get close to making love Keith pops in her head and put a HOLD on everything. This is what I like about Jake he said this; “You may never totally get him out of your head? He also went on to say this “I’m not saying it going to easy, you do this same way you did everything else in life after losing Keith. You do it one step at a time. “Maybe I won’t be the one you make love to. But one day, you will. You’re know when the time is right. “You’ll look at that lucky guy, he said softly, and he’ll look at you, and suddenly it will feel so natural that there won’t be anything preventing you from giving and taking pleasure once more. After reading this I said to myself I am DONE………………..This man can have anything and anybody after that and guess what………………….hummmmm.
Now you have to go out and purchase the book because the Gaines sisters are back and large and in charge. I don’t know who is next but I am looking forward to reading about them and the man Janice find for the. Ms. Sims is batting two for two her with her HERO I love them……………
but situations are different, but together they learn how to overcome the curves and setbacks that life has thrown at them and discover what is most important to them and that together they both are the strength each other needs.

A rescue and a rescuer, a love found in the most unlikeliest places and under different circumstances.
Amina "Mina" Gaines is a former Army Captain and Pilot who leaves the service when her fiance is killed in action. No longer interested in serving when her time is up, she doesn't re-enlist and heads to her grandfather's mountainside hotel to work side by side with him. She loves being there and helping out her grandfather, its peaceful and the guests are wonderful. All is well except if you look a little closer, you will see Mina is just going through the motions and has been since her fiance died 3 years prior. So what happens when Mina and her grandfather are going on a hike and see a plane flying way too low and going way too fast than it is supposed to? Then only for it to crash several miles away from where they are on their hiking trail? What any Army Captain or Soldier would do? Search and rescue, so that is what Mina went to do while she made her grandfather go back to the hotel and call for help.
Jack Wolfe is a DEA agent who has been trying to catch Notorious Kingpin drug dealer Charlie Betts. For the past 3 years it seems as if Charlie would always slip through their fingers like glass. This time Charlie won't get away but he will because the plane has been tampered with and they are going down with no soft landing. As the plane is about crash, Jake says to himself this is it, there will be no final goodbyes, just a body to identify hopefully and recover. But when Jake comes to, he believes an Angel has saved him. His friend who was turning his life around didn't make it, and Jake now had even more of a purpose to bring down Charlie Betts. But first he need to get out of the airplane and Mina helps him do that.
Together Jack Wolfe and Amina Gaines embark on a journey now having a common enemy, to self discoveries and wondering if love can truly be found a second time around. But first in order for them to get answers, they must get out alive.
This story is full of intrigue, mystery, murder, a tells of a wonderful story of love lost and love found the second time around. It gives a wonderful platform for two older people who have found love also (more stories like this need to be told). It will make you laugh, get teary eyed and root for love.
Author Janice Sims is a wonderful writer and story teller who I enjoy very much. Janice has definitely become an automatic 1-Click for me now. There are also 2 other stories out so far with 2 of the Gaines sisters, "This Winter Night" which is Lauren's story (I believe this is story #1) and "Thief of My Heart" which is Desiree's story. I will happily be purchasing these stories as well.

I wanted to read something I don’t normally; step out of my comfort zone, so I selected this title at random out of my collection of ebooks… let’s just say the desired outcome wasn’t anything pleasant.
‘Safe in My Arms’ did not get off to the best start, the introduction of all characters with their full names, did not flow naturally and ultimately came off clunky and poorly written. I should have expected, this being romance, a certain amount of tongue-in-cheek, but the cheesy premise and a big case of telling instead of showing left a bad taste in my mouth. It was close to something I would’ve whipped up as a first draft in a pain-killer haze while in hospital.
I like an occasional soppy romance, but this did not reach the calibre of book I usually read – it’s my own fault for a completely random pick – usually I am much more discerning on how I spend my reading time.
Our protagonist and her love interest have got to be the worst written characters I’ve read to date. Mina was boring and kind of gullible considering someone with her military background. Jake just felt leery. I didn’t relate to either.
The antagonists were just as unimaginative and two dimensional.
There were some redeeming aspects to this novel – the corny jokes had me rolling my eyes or smiling and did a great job at breaking up the monotony. Also Jancie Sims wasn’t bad at building the angst and tension. I just wish she had spent a lot more time developing this story and its characters. It’s such a shame to blast the writing given the racially diverse cast.
One other note: there is a sex scene that gets quite graphic, yet sadly, generic Unoriginal slop.
And the ending… gag me with a spoon! No more random romance picks for me.

Safe in My Arms is the story of Amina “Mina” Gaines and Jacob “Jake” Wolfe. Mina is working alongside her grandfather running lodge in the mountain area in North Carolina. They were out hiking when they saw a plane crash and went to give help which is how she met DEA agent Jake Wolfe. As Jake worked to bring down a drug kingpin, their relationship blossomed.
Janice Sims penned a novel that is engagingly full of adventure, suspense and of course romance. This story will keep you reading and wondering while anticipating the release of the story of the next Gaines’ sisters.

I am now a fan of Janice Sims. I love this series of the sisters and I cant wait to read all of their stories. This books kept me interested and had a little action in it that had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I actually paid for this book after reading This Winters Night by Janice Sims. I normally get my books from the library, but they didn't have the next book, so I had to buy it. And my money wasn't waisted.

"Tis Better Too Have Loved And Lost, Than Never Too Have Loved At All". This quote sets the stage for ex army pilot Mina Gaines and DEA agent Jake Wolfe. Will their past keep them in hiding or will the events which keep putting them together and having to depend on each other renew their hearts.

This book was suspenseful but only for a short while. Seems like most if the action happened in the beginning of the story but fizzled out towards the end. I did like the love and trust that developed between Mina and Jake. It was just an ok read for me.

JAKE AND AMINA'S STORY WAS AWESOME AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT SHE HAS IN STORE FOR THE OTHER GAINES SISTERS. JAKE AND AMINA ARE A SPECIAL COUPLE BECAUSE BOTH SUFFERED UNIMAGINABLE LOSS TO FIND A ONE OF A KIND LOVE.

I just loved this book. Ms. Sims has done it again! The suspenseful action and romance kept me glued to this book. Gotta love those Gaines girls and their men. Impatiently awaiting book 3!
