After discovering the ability to improve items by opening portals into them, Caleb's life has changed completely. With an elf girlfriend from a fantasy world, as well as his own childhood sweetheart, things are looking up.
When the reality of his elf girlfriend's debts become clear, Caleb offers to help pay them off. It'll mean crossing the threshold into the Wyrdworld and meeting with her vampiric creditors. To say Caleb is a little tentative would be putting it lightly.
There are many surprises waiting for Caleb and his girlfriends in the Wyrdworld, including a surprising legacy left behind by his Crafter grandfather.
This is a different approach to the basic “Dungeon in my Backyard” approach. This is, much like “Looting the 13 Floor” approach, in that there is a basement portal to another world. It is a fun to read book with lots of interesting characters and the situations they find themselves in.
To be honest, I was NOT a fan of the MC in volume 1, and I was a “50-50” reader at the end of it. But holy cow; the author somehow turned this series upside down in the subsequent volumes. I found volumes 2 and 3 to be UTTERLY enjoyable.
You may have some issues with volume one, but hang in there - volumes 2 and 3 will rock your socks.
I reckon this is an example of an author actually listening to reader feedback - subsequent volumes are just SOOOO much better. I’m SO looking forward to the next installment. I HIGHLY recommend this series.
I have read the first, now, the second in this series. I have thoroughly enjoyed them both. Mister king, I have read many of your books, and I really enjoy the twisted pathways of your mind. Please, make sure you write a third "dungeon in my basement" ? I can't wait for it.
Fabulously entertaining with a wild crazy adventure to make you not want to put it down!!! I have always found the slow build MC stories to be the best and this author has never disappointed!!!
The first book was a fun introduction to the series and the relationships between the characters, but book two takes it a step further with fun antics, new allies, old enemies and a surprising plot twist.
Sounds like Calab has walked into a nad.situation. The cat girls have been taken over by a sinister force and they seem to have turned others against him too. What awaits in book three?
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and entertaining. The story and characters were incredibly interesting and engaging. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book is definitely worth checking out.
This is what I expect from him, a interesting story one that keeps your interest up. He never disappoints me. That's why I'm going to get the next one in the storyline.
