This trilogy was a disappointment. Although the first and the second book were okay, last one disappointed the most. While Amish Tripathi's imagination knows no bounds, I was still not impressed. Throughout the entire series I felt like, all three books were written by different authors. I'm not sure why but something felt amiss.
3 stars for the first two books and 2 stars for the last book.
giving old myths a modern twist. Amish Tripathi has accomplished a successful task in doing that. it was beautifully written. but i will suggest only people with an interest in Indian mythology and has basic idea of it should read this . otherwise you will be clueless [trust me i was for sometime] it gives the stories of Shiva and other related gods a practical theory about their existence and the way they lived
Ya obvious previous book have introduced the shiva and nagas....and now its time to reveal the secrets of nagas....as you read through this book you will get known more about the nagas secrets...and of course our lovable god "Lord of the people". Just as 'Immortols of meluha' this book also has interesting story and suspense. When you finish the book, your all questions about shiva and somras will get answerd well..but thats not the way it ends...With some answers it also create a new way to your curiosity which will result in rise of some new questions. To find the answer you must have to read the next "THE OATH OF VAYUPUTRAS"...
The trilogy is a brilliant work by Amish Tripathi He has done an excdptional work where he has blended facts with fiction. And he gives fodder for our thoughts too through various characters and explanations of concepts that are difficult to understand but made easy to understand. Great job amish. Simply amazed by the talent he posseses
So finally I picked this book and then there was no looking back. I still wonder why I couldn’t read this book back in 2013 when i gave it my first try. I had this impression that this book is just too hyped. And now I know why. It’s worth the appreciation and the hype.
I am already a big fan of Amish’s conceptualisation of Ram Chandra Trilogy. I read the series recently and wasn’t sure if reading Meluha will be overwhelming. But it wasn’t.
I loved Amish’s idea of a society which is near-perfect but also realises it’s shortcomings and ready to make amendments in its ‘Ramrajya times’ laws. They are waiting for the ‘Legend of Neelkhant’ and after he arrives, it’s interesting to see how an efficient but simple mountain-man ‘Shiva’ realises his potential along the way.
The book brings up interesting twists and turns and explains how duality plays an significant role in human lives through the concepts of masculine/feminine, Shiva/Sati, Suryavanshi/Chandravanshi, Asuras/Devtas and how nothing in this universe is neither right nor wrong.
I loved the climax where after a series of win/loss, Shiva realises that his understanding of evil is incomplete and there is another layer to his wisdom beyond what he currently knew.
For me, it brought the much needed clarity of the fact that once you take an action and then when you realise that it was wrong, you want to go back in time, re-live and fix those wrongs selectively. This is not possible since it’s the new wisdom that gave you the understanding of the wrong. Going back to the old will also take away the new wisdom that you now have through which you are imbibing the new world and your shortcomings.
‘There are no mistakes just the lessons’ is what Shiva learns to get ready for the next phase of this life.
Hoping some more magic from the next book in series ‘The secret of the Nagas’.
Most of you must have read the trilogy but for those how didn’t – I highly recommend.
I am currently on book 3 ... so the first book i read was a bit raw for me as an Indian.. I loved it but having gone through so many paranormal book I like those that have a summary of foreign/madeup words used and not those that constantly explain what that phrase is ... second thing is the inner dialogue that shiva has with 'himself ' as an explanation of what he feels is also not the best way I like to read.( even though its useful but not the best kind of writing i enjoy )... third the use of words such as wow and modern English along with typical Indian phrases and old formal courtesy of court was a bit disconcerting. Now for the good ... The books itselves are fantastic and I really loved the second (as well am enjoying the third ...) as far as I am concerned the Author has really hit his stride with this (2nd and 3rd ) one and its going great. I love the characterization of Sati and really like the characters that make up the entourage of Shiva I also loved Kali and the Ganesh and absolutely love that the Basic Character of Shiva is as we have read in our scriptures and that the author has not gone overboard with 'breaking the mould' and totally re imagining a favorite God of mine. One of the few books that has not turned everything on its head to fit a new story.
MY CONFESSION: In past, I had seen many readers used to crush on the protagonist of their favourite books & it sounded so stupid to me like I understand to have a crush on someone we see on screen/movies but to fall for a character of a book was little weird for me. .
BUT UNTILL I READ THIS BOOK. YES!! I had a huuuuge crush on SHIVA😍, (as a Hindu,he is our GOD). I used to daydream about him, I wanted to be his SATI, the woman of his life. Seriously!! @authoramish, You are a magician👏 Ohh Godd!!...I need to control my emotions now..😛 . Story in Nutshell:- Today, Shiva is a god. But four thousand years ago, he was just a person of flesh and blood like you and me untill he brought his people to Meluha, a near perfect empire founded by the great king Lord Ram. There he discovered he was the Neelkanth, the Mehula's saviour. But in his hours of victory fighting the Chandravanshi -Mehula's enemy, he discovered they had their own prophecy. Now he must fight to uncover the treachery within his inner circle and unmask those who are about to destroy all that he has fought for. Shiva is about to learn that good and evil are two sides of the same coin. He became God-like because of his Karma.
After the certain gap of time and the suspense maintained, the silence breaks up with the sequel of Immortals of Meluha , second book of the series " Shiva Trilogy " by Amish Tripathi.
Book reveals the connection of Lord Shiva to Nagas . Nagas were believed to be evil by people of Meluha as well and Ayodhya . How lord Shiva meets the people of three clans Suryavanshi , Chandravanshi and the Nagas . They were under belief that other one is evil for them.
I also liked the manner in which this book explores the journey how lord Shiva disovers the real connection and at the end, the way through which the whole secret is revealed I bet no author could have guessed that secret to incorporate in their books. To know this secrets, read it first. Happy reading.
Has some brilliant concepts related to Nagas, and deformities. A lot of details on cities and their architecture, which gets quite boring after a while. Didn't match the level of Meluha, but definitely a good read. Keeps u hooked at the end.
Created as a spinoff of hindu epics , These two works are able to to present Shiva and the ancient lives in a unique perspective which have created a beautiful world. Read this if :
1.Interested in Epic Literature 2.Enjoy adventures 3.An Indian Fictional world .
Great, captivating story, continuing with the tradition of the first book. Keeps you rooted to the book till the end, can't wait to read the last book of the trilogy !
