This book contains lots of poems to introduce students to poetry in a fun and humorous way. Lots of figurative language in this book easily keeps children engaged. Fun, colorful illustrations as well.

Who in their right mind could give this anything less than 5 stars? Hilarious and fun poems with great color illustrations. Several per page so doesn't take up as much room on the shelf.

"Your teeth are like the stars," he said,
and pressed the hand so white.
He spoke the truth, for like the stars,
Her teeth came out at night.

One funny poem after another...makes me want to run up to the library and gather all the available kids so I can read these to them!

This book is full of short poems about fictional characters and animals. Most of the poems are short (4-8 lines). There are tons of animal poetry which I think are great examples for children since they are appropriate and entertaining. Once critique is that some pages are full of to many short poems that it gets confusing what is going on. But I do like how he relates the drawings and the poems which kind of makes a bridge between the poems throughout the book. This would be a perfect example for kids since its appropriate and fun.
