Gosh, that was a long short.

This is my least favorite of the FCR stories, because it revolves around a text message spat, and the resulting drama. I have some problems relating to that. It's very domestic, mainly set inside the ranch house, and I missed the wider world of the ranch. Plus the horses were hardly in it :(

So by no means is it a bad story, just not to my particular taste.

This was a wonderful, if short read. The authors manage to pull the reader into the story with only a few words. It was fun to visit Dale and all the others again. Yes, poor Darcy, he needs his special someone as well. And soon!

As usual, all the bits come together in the end :-)

I'm eager to see Darcy's future. I feel this is a slight portent of a burgeoning and inexorable relationship.

Brats behaving badly, and an unexpected party wades in and sorts it out. A very entertaining read, although I wanted to bang my head against a wall a few times.

Another novella at Christmas time. Flynn never fails to make me laugh with how much he hates shopping at the mall in Cheyenne. Dale knows how to wrangle brats; no wonder they think he's scary.

Short story focused on a family argument via texts between the brats, and the resulting fallout.

This was quite different than some of the other Fall's Chance Ranch books, as the focus was not on the men at the ranch, but on the wider family. I particularly enjoyed the interactions between Wade and James (and Niall), the elderly members of the family, and between Darcy and Luath. I hold out hope that a relationship might blossom there, but I don't know if it ever will.

This did jump around a lot between different points of views, but it was easy to follow and it was a nice chance to get to know some members of the family we have not had the chance to spend much time with.

This story is set in the same December as 'Freeman's Field' and 'Taverner's Inn' - very busy December for the ranch!

Great story overall - one of my favourite shorts.

Wonderful christmas short about showcasing how drama and fights where feelings get genuinely hurt are dealt with in the family.
Mainly featuring Gerry, Darcy, Wade, Bear, Niall, plus their partners, a fed up Riley and an even more fed up Dale.
Also feels like a pivoting point in how Flynn's role in the family going forward.

Very, very funny. Gerry being his usual fluffy, caustic self, and Dale being extremely "Toppy".

Poor Darcy! I like how we get into his head and feelings a bit more.
