Run-of-the-mill, standard Scooby story, which in itself is ok.
What totally bugged me about this book (and with younger readers in mind), was the font: the 'k' looks like capital letter, even in the middle of a word...

Growing up, Scooby Doo was one of my favorite books and shows. Every summer I would sit on my couch while my mom did laundry and I was waiting for friends to get out of summer camps, and I would watch Scooby Doo reruns on Cartoon Network. During school this was one of my favorite books to pick up, so clearly I had to go back and analyze a childhood favorite. In this episode, the gang gets to go to the jungle. And of course, they encounter a mystery. This time, it is a crazy man thing that keeps telling them to stay away! Of course, they don’t, however. They go off to solve the mystery as usual… and the rest is up to you to find out!
Overall, I really enjoyed rereading this childhood favorite. I instantly fell back in love with the whole gang of friends and what it is they do. The author, Jesse Leon McCann did a great job staying true to the originals as well as the illustrator.

This book is a solid Schooby Doo story. If your kids like the cartoons, they'll like this book. It will also be enjoyable to kids who are probably too young to read a book with as many words on the page or as varied a vocabulary, so it's a good choice for reading TO a kindergartner or first grader.

This is a fairly typical Scooby-Doo story, taking the gang to Central America to see an archaeological dig at a Maya ruin. This is a good picture book, with a short narrative and lots of colorful, action-filled illustrations. The mystery wasn't too difficult, nor was it very scary. We enjoyed reading it together, as much as all of the Scooby-Doo stories we find at our local library.

My youngest DD was given this for a gift and since I read everything they read, I read it. I think she will enjoy it.

I love Scooby-Doo and so do the kids in my life, but this book is too convoluted. We've tried to get through it several times and never have.
