When Charlie Mercer meets a cute guy at a party during summer break, sparks fly. But Tanner never calls him. Typical. At least he has his sophomore year at Lassiter and his fraternity brothers at Alpha Tau to distract him—and maybe this will be the year he finally meets someone.
College is meant to be a new chapter in Tanner North's life, except he's still stuck in the shadow of his older brother, Colt. Not only is Tanner going to Lassiter like Colt did, he's also pledging to Kappa Beta Rho because Colt was chapter president there last year. Whatever. Tanner's not interested in getting involved in the dumb frat war that Kappa Beta Rho has going on with Alpha Tau. He's just going to keep his head down and his grades up until he graduates.
It's a solid plan, right up until Tanner realizes that Charlie is a member of Alpha Tau. And it turns out that keeping their hands off each other is harder than they thought.
The Amazing Alpha Tau Romeo and Juliet Project is a lighthearted contemporary m/m romance containing a wrong number, two melodramatic freshmen, and a romance that spans the width of an entire street. Or something.
I feel like an absolute hot mess after finishing this book. Let me explain…
So, the first thing you need to know is, yes, I’ve read ALL the books in this series. I’ve enjoyed all the antics of the Alpha Tau bros so far, and I’ve adored the characters and their sometimes funny, always sweet, usually steamy sexual awakenings.
The second thing you need to know about me is that I’m pretty intuitive. I predict twists and endings in most books I read and I have — or thought I had — an eye for details and a memory like a vault, especially when it comes to my reading.
You might be wondering what the hell any of that has to do with my experience here and why I now feel like a hot mess…
Well, you see, I went into this story excited to read about sweet and shy Charlie, who was introduced in book three (which to claify, I read only two months ago). Yet, when this story began and the crux of the relationship conflict got going between Charlie and golden retriever jock Tanner, I was legitimately stumped as to why these two had to hide their relationship at all from their supposedly antagonistic, warring frat houses.
Turns out my brain is either total mush these days or I missed some defining character identifiers (or reminders) early in the piece, because it legitimately took me until the 77% mark — the 77-fricken-% mark — to realise why Charlie feared their relationship becoming common knowledge between their supposedly at odds fraternities, and it made me feel a bit silly, to be honest.
Now, I’m assuming most people who read this book DID NOT suffer from the same sort of brain fart I did (and everyone remembered the more intricate details in book three!?), but I’m still stumped as to how I missed the moment — was there even a moment!?!?! — when THIS BOOK actually linked the reader in, as a reminder, like most sequels do, to the importance of some characters from the past and how they impacted Charlie’s feelings and actions in the now.
Honestly, it feels like a total me problem that I failed to remember details of book three, and many people reading this review will likely not get why I’m fussing, but I tell you, my experience of this story, and Charlie and Tanner’s interactions, would have been interpreted a lot differently had the past details been more clearly (re)defined. I would have understood Charlie’s hesitancies, instead of thinking his reasoning for wanting to hide their relationship was silly and contrived. (And I bloody well would have understood Marty’s behaviour, instead of spending THE ENTIRE BOOK being annoyed that his character had apparently had a personality transplant from the goofy, lovable guy I knew him to be from the previous books, instead of the rude asshole he played in nearly every scene this go around.)
So, yeah. I’m going to assume this is a “me issue," but I still wish things were made clearer earlier in the story; maybe throw in an unmistakable reminder to readers who may have had a mini-stroke since the last book, like myself, so the entire bloody plot actually made more sense. Now, I get that all of this may have been intentional on the authors behalves, keeping things vague so the reader was lost right along with Tanner, but if that’s the case, then I guess I simply didn’t like that particular part of the arc or how it affected my enjoyment of the story overall.
This review will likely not compute for most readers (if any), and that’s a good thing—it means you all have the brain cells I’m now missing, and pieced things together easy peasy and were able to enjoy the story for what it was. Yay you!! Because, honestly? Although I really liked Tanner and still wanted to cuddle Charlie and make all his ginger dreams come true, I know my connection to them and their relationship was hindered because I felt confused the entire time I was reading (well, that is, confused until that 77% eureka, “fuck, I’m a moron” moment).
I guess I’ll wrap the ramble up by saying: this was fun and sweet and a little sexy and it still made me smile a great deal. In particular, I loved the meet cute at the beginning and I enjoyed all of Briar’s scenes and liked the introduction of Nash. But I would also say: I didn’t enjoy it as much as the previous books in the series, and I honestly now don’t know if that’s on me or if it was because of the way it was written. I guess we'll never know.
***A special thanks to the authors for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fun read and I'm kinda sad the series is pretty much done now!
I did think the misunderstanding/lack of communication was a little annoying but I loved how Briar set everything straight, especially whilst wearing glitter and leg warmers - I currently have my eye on some glittery trousers 😁
I empathised with Tanner so much on the Shakespeare stuff, but I'm also jealous he didn't have to study it until uni level! Shakespeare's birth place is like twenty minutes away from my house and I've had to study Shakespeare since middle school!!! It's like a Warwickshire requirement to know Shakespeare as soon as you leave the womb, I swear 😂 School also totally ruined Romeo and Juliet for me, I never got to enjoy Leo as Romeo because I watched it for the first time for GCSE English Lit and now every time I try to watch it for fun I just hear my English teacher saying 'bUt whAt aRe tHe coNnotaTions of thE costUme coLouRs in tHis SceNe' 🤦🏻♀️😂
Also loved Nash, he was a solid side character and it was refreshing to see super wholesome college athletes for a change. The longing looks at junk food from Tanner and Nash had me giggling a few times!
Kinda wish the book had been a little longer and the conflict between the two frats had been a bit more fleshed out, but this was a fun way to end the series and I'm looking forward to the bonus content book to find out who's getting married.
“I don’t really understand Shakespeare, and last summer I kissed a cute guy at a party, and I even got his number and then a guy I knew smashed my phone.
And the guy I kissed probably thinks I ditched him, but I didn’t. We were just star-crossed lovers.”
Silly and sweet and a bit stupid in love - that's all I really have to say.
Ah, who am I kidding? You know me better than that. 🙃
If the authors had chosen anyone else other than Marty to be the one on the prowl of targeting Tanner's ill-timed attempts to sneak into Alpha Tau, then I think The Amazing Alpha Tau Romeo and Juliet Project could have proven to be a much more enjoyable read. 🙂↕️ Actually, scratch that - if it had included a little bit of Charlie's POV, then it could have been a much better one, as well. But, I guess to better play out the clueless idiots in love scenario of a stupid frat rivalry playing its part of keeping dumb freshman who didn't want any trouble baseball shortstop Tanner of fair Kappa Beta Rho apart from shy and awkward, but insanely smart, Charlie of Alpha Tau, then yes, it does make sense -somewhat.
Tanner was lively - that's for sure. 😅 He was a bit of a lovable goofball - 'a tiny idiot baby gentleman. No wonder Charlie fell for you' - who just got thrown into situations that really weren't in his control, including a misunderstanding that really wasn't his fault. Well, not entirely. And when all he ever wants to do was spend time with his adorkable and very cute boyfriend, for reasons unbeknownst to him, Charlie just can't seem to want to bring their relationship to light - afraid to draw attention to him dating someone from his fraternity. 😢 So, the two of them make the most of their time, late-night rendezvous in the dugout, a sneaky quickie in the library, some intense collarbone kisses that leave them both hot and heavy and yearning for more, but fate and rivalries just won't allow them to come together. *cough* Sorry, couldn't resist. 😌
As frustrating as Charlie's resistance to Tanner's temptation was, I still flew through this lighthearted and very chill and rather playful forbidden love. I loved the Romeo and Juliet allusions to their relationship, and the slight hilarity to their dynamic that made it amusing to watch how it would play out. 😅 They were very hot and horny for each other, hard to keep their hands off each other, which often landed them in precarious positions. 'We were good together. We felt right.' I liked how some people were catching onto their hidden affair, but too conscientious not to draw attention to it; well, until it became too hard to avoid any longer. 💞
“Stupid frat rivalry. Like, who cared if a Kappa and an Alpha got together? It was so dumb.”
It was dumb! 🙈 But for good reason, as we get to learn later on. 🥲
The villains of the story - were awful - no contest. 😤 And I liked how the reveal explained why Charlie had been so inclined not to get steady and involved with Tanner. They were idiots, the both of them- lovable idiots, for sure, and the fact they acknowledged it - even better. 🙂↕ I did miss the Alpha Tau boys a lot, though. 😢 I mean, the new study group members were nice and all - very considerate of Tanner and Nash's health regime and all, and how they all excelled on Charlie's tutelage, but the dynamic wasn't the same. 😞
The humor didn't have the same vibe of amusement and chuckles that I had grown to love. The scenes with the Alpha Tau boys, though, were probably the best - because of how open and receptive and welcoming they were of Tanner and Charlie's situation. And coming to the rescue, of course. 😌 Nash was also a great inclusion to the story - a fabulous friend and support for Tanner, really loved his witty retorts and smooth comebacks. And who I'm curious to read his story, as well, and if he gets the Daddy he wants; although it is hinted at the end, so there is that. 😏 (EDIT: Read the story and phew!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥 I wonder if the authors will consider expanding his story in a full-length novel, too??? 👉🏻👈🏻)
I kinda have an inkling of who the wedding will be of, but I am looking forward to seeing all these lovable dorks one last time. 🥹 I'm still holding out for the hope that the authors will consider following them into their adult lives, too. 🥺 Although, I doubt their silly antics will be as forgiving in the adult world, but it still would be a fun read, all the same. 🥰
Tanner & Charlie are members of opposing frats with hella bad blood between them, making their relationship Romeo & Juliet-esque with lots of stolen moments and secret meetups. Very happy to report that their story does not end in tragedy 😜
Both of these goobers were absolutely adorable though, and I loved that they were both awkward bumbling virgins. It just made them even cuter in my opinion, but I did get a little flustered with their relationship at times.
Tanner was such a sweetheart and all in from the start, but Charlie was a bit more hesitant about things between them, which was understandable given all the previous bullying. I wanted to shake him sometimes though, because clearly Tanner had no idea what went on and he couldn’t give him the benefit of the doubt. Again, I get it, but ugh it killed me cause all they needed to do was communicate and Briar wouldn’t have had to swoop in lol
Overall though it was another great addition to the Alpha Tau series and I cannot wait for more!
- jock x nerd - rival frats - forbidden/secret romance - first times
Hm, I don’t know. This instalment of the series had a very artificially constructed conflict right from the start. Like, why tf can’t they date properly and openly? Just because they’re in two ‘rival’ fraternities? I appreciate the authors for trying to come up with a modernised Romeo and Juliet story arc, but come ooooon… two queer friendly(ish) college frats who had trouble in the PAST is not it. Like, what would be these horrible consequences they feared?! That’s not talked about ONCE and it made me roll my eyes HARD 🙄
I did like Tanner though; Charlie already stole my heart in the previous book and together they did give me the stomach flutters with all their firsts and blushing and blurting 🥰 Maybe the book would have been better though, had it been told from Charlie’s POV, to make the ‘conflict’ more real and believable, seeing as it was him who had the most hang ups? And also to get to see the old gang more, which would have benefitted the book a lot imo.
Love the series as a whole, but this one wasn’t its best ngl. 3,5⭐️
This was just meh, it really made no sense, the drama about them not being able to date and being star-crossed lovers, like at all, it just read like a dick move from Charlie.
I understand that Charlie was afraid of Tanner’s connection to his fraternity and all, but having him be a secret just felt wrong. In addition to that, it felt like Tanner was the one who was always pursuing him and doing his best to accommodate him; it didn’t feel very reciprocated.
I have loved every book in this series so far, and it's a blast to see characters from previous books as well (except for that one guy... you know the one if you've read them. NOBODY likes him lol).
The similarities between two guys from warring fraternities and Romeo and Juliet (which they were studying) were great (much less death in their version, I'm happy to say ha ha). Both Tanner and Charlie were awkward virgins, and it was honestly a relief that the jock in the equation was just as clueless and embarrassed as the nerd. But oh, were they soooo sweet! I swooned a few times.
Tanner is earnest and all-in from the start. The story is from Tanner's POV until the epilogue, so we don't know what Charlie is thinking quite as much, but he's obviously a little gun-shy from being bullied previously and a bit uncertain about why a hot jock would want *him*. I feel like Tanner does a really great job of convincing him of his own worth by the end.
I already can't wait for more! (I know, I'm greedy lol. But I just loooove this whole series so much!)
This was a sweet first time for everything between Tanner the Baseball Scholarship guy and Charlie the English Lit genius at Lassiter College.
They had met very briefly early in the summer, shared a first kiss and Charlie had given Tanner his phone number. Within the following five minutes Tanner’s phone was knocked from his hand and stomped to smithereens and he fell into the pool.
Arriving in college months later Tanner came face to face with Charlie when Tanner was set up by his Kappa Frat Housemates to carry out a prank on Alpha Tau Frat House, where Charlie was housed.
Caught red handed and surrounded by Alpha Tau students, Tanner was very surprised to see Charlie, but he was more hurt when Charlie gave him a filthy look of disgust.
There was huge animosity between these two Frat Houses, mostly caused by Colt, Tanner’s older brother who had left Lassiter the previous year. Tanner didn’t have a clue what damage his crazy brother had done but he wasn’t surprised.
Tanner needs his grades to improve to keep his sports scholarship and Charlie is the number one guy at Lassiter as a Study Group Leader and tutor. Plus he is a charity scholarship student and needs the extra cash.
This was the only way Charlie and Tanner had of being in the same room even with a handful of other students. Slowly Charlie thaws out enough when Tanner makes his introductory talk about his first kiss.
A lot was made of the similarities between their situation and Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and as the saying goes in some other Shakespearean work, ‘ All’s well that ends well’.
There is some angst here among other members of the Frat houses especially towards Tanner, but it seems that Charlie had been a target also and did’t share this information with Tanner. Another huge miscommunication mistake.
As a college MM romance it is fraught with ups and downs but thankfully unlike Romeo and Juliette, it didn’t end in tragedy.
"Charlie is my first everything." "That explains so, so much. You are both tiny idiot babies."
If you've seen this quote, you've read the book.
Maybe it's one of those that would have benefitted from dual POV. As is, all we see is Charlie being hot and cold, while accusing Tanner of being hot and cold.
But.....
Tanner: I have to go to the scrimmage now. If you do message back, and I don't answer, I'm not ignoring you, I swear. I hope you text back, Charlie.
Yep. This tiny idiot baby learnt the importance of clear, timely communication. Shakespeare would be so proud.
Also, sorry but I can't take the idea of someone being scared of Marty seriously. There's just no way.
MVP quote
"Yes, my grades were important but talking to Charlie was more important."
I'd have totally bought it if these two were in high school.
I think this could’ve been far more enjoyable if the authors had reminded us what happened to Charlie in the last book to make him feel the way that he did. It took a secondary character telling Tanner what was up near the very end of the book for me to remember a bit of it. Most of the time I was annoyed and confused lol.
Great addition to the series! I was really glad to realize this was Charlie's story, and Tanner was very loveable so I thought they were a great couple. I like that although each book focused on one couple, previous characters showed up as side characters and vice versa, so you really got the sense of the progression of time. Love this writing duo!
3.5 A different addition to the Alpha Tau world, as the single POV was from a member of another campus fraternity.
I spent over three quarters of the book under a cloud of feeling there was some big mystery, some revelation as to why Charlie and Tanner are not allowed to be together, other than an inter fraternity animosity.
I thought maybe it was some big secret about Tanner’s brother, Colt, a previous frat brother. As I was reading I kept casting back to the previous book and timid Charlie being bullied by a frat pledge and eventually joining Alpha Tau, wondering if it had to do with that.
The eventual enlightenment was underwhelming, but, did explain why Charlie overreacted so much to being ‘out’ with Tanner. I don’t think that plot line was the best. I didn’t like the many chapters vague feeling of something was wrong. Not what I expected from a jock and nerd love story set on fraternity row.
I still enjoyed the book, but truly wanted more Alpha Tau and, instead, got Kappa Beta Rho. The clean freak in me disliked how messy and ratty their frat house was, theirs and another frat house. The elegant Alpha Tau house under the firm direction of Trey and Scout was very welcome in the few scenes set there. I needed a lot more Scout!
And, what was up with Marty?! A complete personality change of such grouchiness and unkindness to Tanner which was too blithely explained away. I did not like that confusing plot line, either.
No sex for the MCs, some nice kissing and foreplay. That was okay, they’re still pretty young and being true to themselves. Charlie and Tanner were in agreement about the sex and it was conveyed in those scenes.
This was a nice read. Some Alpha Tau is better than no Alpha Tau!
Okay, I'm rounding this up to 4-stars because OMG TANNER YOU ARE SO ADORABLE!!! An awkward jock?!? Didn't realize that it would be my jam 😆. But seriously, I loved Tanner so much in this book. Even if as a character, he was also strengthening that stereotype of dumb jock at times.
I loved Charlie in the previous book -- unfortunately, just like Marty who was the scene stealer in book #1 but not having his own voice in book #2, Charlie wasn't fully present in this book, except from Tanner's perspective. I missed that. I wish these books have POV from both main male characters because at times it could be very imbalanced.
All in all, enjoyable series from book #1-book #4. Would definitely be there for the short story collection.
4 stars Very lovely story, such a nice addiction to the Lassiter Universe. We met Charlie in the previous book, the nerd, smart, shy redhead guy who was bullied by Etha (who later was kicked out from Alpha Tau) and this is his chance to found love and be happy.
During summer, he met a hot guy at a party, in his hometown, but then he was ghosted. Tanner, gay and still in the closet, was ready to start college and finally be out. At a party he meets a beautiful guy and they kiss. Then someone smashes his phone and he loses the guy's number.
When college starts, Charlie and Tanner meet again, but they discover they belong to different (and enemies) Fraternity.
Charlie and Tanner are the cutest couple so far: they're both new at dating, they haven't any kind of experience (both physical and emotional), but they're utterly smitten with each other. They're cute and adorable and I loved how they compared their story with Romeo and Juliet's. I really liked that the physical side of their relationship progressed very slowly, and that the authors put more attention on the emotional challenges that they had to face.
What prevented me from giving a higher rate: I didn't like very much Tanner's passive attitude towards Ethan (who's still veru mych a jerk, in case someone is wondering). Marty seemed completely different from the previous book: the goofy intuitive easygoing frat bro is now some kind of vigilant who monitors if the Kappas are going to trespass. He also had no clue about Charlie and Tanner's relationship. I don't know, he seemed a different person. Laslty, I also would have loved to see more of the other Alpha Tau guys.
I don't know if the authors have other books planned (beside the Collected Bonus Stories) and I hope we'll get to see more.
I received an ARC of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review.
Tanner North and Charlie Mercer, respectively from Kappa Beta Rho and Alpha Tau. Oh boy, they can’t be together, no way! You know the history between both fraternities, and Tanner being the younger brother of a (bad) legend here, doesn’t work in his favor.
The first time, they meet at a party during summer break. They didn’t know they would meet again under these circumstances. But now, no one can know they are fooling around together!
“Like I was going anywhere when I had a lap full of gorgeous redhead.”
Hey, the feud can’t be that bad? Oh boy Tanner, think again! Tanner is green as grass and head over heels, he does stupid things to get Charlie’s attention.
“I really want to be mad at you.” “No need. I’m already mad at me.”
Charlie is Tanner’s tutor, helping him with Shakespeare (yesss see title) Oh did I mention Tanner is head over heels? Sadly for Tanner Charlie keeps insisting they keep their relationship secret.
Another great story in this excellent series, I adored every installment. It’s fun, and lighthearted, with even some sharp edges. I would have loved to see both guys after ten years, it is what it is, and it was good. All the characters fit so well in the picture these authors wrote. Everything was so well thought out. I couldn’t get enough of them!
What a great feel good story. Your typical nerd - jock romance, but I loved every second of it. Story flowed well, and each chapter gave you that nostalgic feeling of secondary school/college romance 💞 The storyline was easy to follow, and gave me all the teenage-feels of young, sweet and innocent love 😍 Not only did it make me laugh, cry and swoon, it left me wanting more. If you haven't read it already, I can't recommend it enough. If I could go back and re-read this for the first time again, I would! 🤗 The heroes, Tanner and Charlie are so hapless, as first time boyfriends, they made me smile and melt with 'awwness' throughout 🫠I'm still smiling even though I've finished, it is such an uplifting read 😁 It's not like some YA romance reads which are all anger and sex, but a gentle romance with laugh out loud moments 🤣 It had a good plot and I loved it. If you want an ultimately read then read this. Tanner especially made me laugh, I adored his attitude to life, he comes across at first as your stereotypical frat boy, but is so much more❤️ His references to junk food, and comparing his and Charlie's romance to Romeo and Juliet's are hilarious 🥨🍕🍔🌯🥮🍧🍰🍩⚾ 👬 The story was sweet, funny, with a little heart break, but so adorable, in fact, I would totally recommend the whole series. The writing is witty and interesting. Not everything flowed smoothly in this one, but I loved the banter, the realistic mistakes, and love ❤️🩹 💕Because to be human is to make mistakes, and then to forgive those mistakes. Best of the series so far. I'll definitely reread 😊
These authors are so good at writing college mm romance books full of characters that you can't help but cheer for, laugh with, and relate to. Not to mention there are some unsavory characters that you wish gets the karma they deserve...
We first meet Charlie in the last book in this series, and I'm so happy we got his story. I wanted to learn more about him as soon as I was finished with the previous book. And I learned quite a bit about him within these pages.
Tanner is such a sweetheart! He reminds me a bit of Marty's character because at times he's a bit gullible and doesn't know what's really going on. Which is completely relatable, and realistic, I'm sure we've all been in that position at some point in our lives. While he is part of a frat he's not a frat bro in the sense that all he does is drink and party, He's mainly apart of the frat for his grades and for the connection with his fellow frat members.
I really liked how this story was written and how it was told. We start off with the two MC's meeting one night during the summer and then not talking or seeing each other until they bump into each other at college. I liked that aspect of this book, that they were able to rekindle something that both of them had yearned for. I enjoyed the tutoring aspect too, all of the talk about Romeo and Juliet really helped tie in the fact that they were studying. And the characters quoting Shakespeare to each other was adorable.
I laughed so much while reading this book and was smiling almost the whole time. This was such a joy to read, and I loved how Tanner and Charlie's relationship started. I wasn't a big fan of them keeping it a secret or the miscommunication but I get why that was important to the story and the plot. It really made it feel similar to star crossed lovers, which again, tied in Romeo and Juliet.
I adored getting to see Marty and Squirrel again, along with cameos from Briar! It was amazing that there characters made an appearance in this story. There was swoony first kisses, and steamy first times, but this book focused on the relationship development which I LOVED! So there is some steam for those who are wondering but it's not the main focus. Overall a really good book and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Lovely fluffy little love story about two inexperienced cute guys - one shy jock and another shy nerd. Great that they are far less crazy into smut than in most romances but take everything more slowly. But not less enthusiastic. I particularly liked that Tanner was so clueless and inexperienced and that he's not this great overachiever but a normal student who also struggles to get everything done. It's quite a lot that he has on his plate. What I don't get is how he can stand living in his fraternity that seems basically like another kind of dorm but with rather annoying other students. How he can stand his roommate who is just one big bully. But he might just be used to having to put up with annoyoing bullies as his big brother was/is nothing but a bully. Poor Tanner that he was so used to a bad situation that he didn't even think to fight for a better living situation. But at least he had a good sense to stick to the right people for him - Nash, the tutor group, and above all Charlie. Charlie's reaction to Ethan etc were a bit cryptic if you didn't have the background of book 3 somewhat ready. I didn't initially, but then Ethan and his two side kicks felt familiar. This detail could have been sketched more clearly to make us understand better why Charlie reacted the way he did. For me it made sense that Marty was hostile to Tanner for so long - the prank gone wrong at the beginning, Tanner being one of the Kappas, Marty's feud with Colt, the Alpha Taus's protective behavior towards Charlie. And he came round Martyesquely fast as soon as he found out about Charlie and Tanner.
While this was sweet and comforting and a great next installment in this series there were a couple things that detracted from the experience for me: - too much mis-/non communication - I know Charlie wasn’t trying to be mean but Tanner has so much “needs to be protected at all costs”-energy that I got mad at him - Text messages are still formatted wrong - the learning theory is disproven - and last but so far from least: gulags are not a joking matter and there is no need to compare a utilitarian library room with them or east block architecture. About 18 million people passed through the forced labour camps and historians believe at least 1.6 million people died in them. (See p. 51, 61). East Berlin hasn’t been communist in decades and why on earth is the guy who doesn’t even know how Romeo and Juliet ends making these comparisons (p. 131)??
NSFW infos: - taller redhead - shorter blond baseball player - both virgins and first timers in a relationship - clothed frotting - handjob - blowjob - joint masturbation
**I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review**
4.25 stars!
This book was so cute and funny! I couldn’t put it down, I downed it in a night. Lots of lines cracked me up, especially since Tanner’s such an adorable himbo. And as usual, Marty stole the show. While the second book is still my favorite (because of Marty, duh), this is my second favorite. So happy for Tanner and Charlie.
I’d give this a higher ranking if the end didn’t feel so sudden. I think if there was a bonus epilogue, this would be 4.5 stars. ⭐️
- college - first times - star crossed lovers - forbidden/secret love
This is the 4th in the Alpha Tau series but can easily be read as a standalone - however I can highly recommend the whole series as it's super fun. Charlie and Tanner are two most adorkable idiots ever, and I love them both. I loved the cameos from the other guys too, and always Marty stole all his scenes yet again. Good to catch up with them all, except that one guy because yeah, he sucks and can go away.
This whole thing was so gosh darn sweet and wholesome and such a lovely change of pace, and really suited these two on their journey of discovery of love and each other. Loved Tanner getting all the Romeo and Juliet references wrong, and the whole thing made me happy while I was reading, except when it made me cry. I love this whole series so much, and Charlie and Tanner's story had me sitting up in the dark reading until I finished, because I could not put it down. Adorable.
This series has been so much fun to read and the latest book is no exception. Tanner and Charlie are so freaking adorable and clueless. Those two together gives all the happy feels and it's great to see all the other characters again and I can't wait for more in this series.
Boring. Really can’t think of anything that makes this one worthwhile. Doesn’t even take place at Alpha Tau so we hardly get to see any of those guys. So disappointing. Especially since this is the end of the line (besides the collection of previously released shorts w/new novella).
