This 5 star rating is based on the reactions of my 2 boys upon reading this book. They are 2 and 4 and love books about trucks or any type of transportation. They went crazy over the colorful pictures, the many different trucks, and all the noisy sounds that went along with them. They zoomed and clanked and banged all through the story. It is definitely one that we will read again together.

Fun play with the sounds and descriptions of different trucks. Illustrations are very unique with a combination of animation-stills, heavy acrylic paint and real map photos in the background - a visual delight for adults and children.

Oliver Loves Trucks

My son loves trucks and this is a fun book that we are helping read from. The words are a little harder to read designed within the page, but he makes sure that we do not miss a word.

Rhyming words describe and name all the different types of trucks you see on the road. A couple of vertically illustrated pages help depict the "long, long road" the vehicles drive on. Favorite!

This would get a 5 based on my 2yo's opinion but he doesn't notice that she uses the same rhymes in all her books! Thats a little lazy isn't it?

My Review: Grandma and Grandpa sent this book to Munchkin. It was a fun choice and he really enjoyed it. It seems like just another truck book, which it is, but they may it interesting and unique by changing some of the pages, sometimes you are reading it normal, then other times you have to twist the book sideways. While this could get annoying it was a blast for Munchkin and kept him involved in the book.

This book was an enormous success at storytime today! I didn't expect much - it didn't look super-special and I was worried it was too long - but the kids were just rapt. I like the variety of vocabulary and the way it encourages sounds to make as you read. I also like how some of the spreads are vertical; the perspective shift is really fun for storytime settings. And, of course, with lots of trucks on each page of different colors and sizes, there are many opportunities for counting and color naming and observations. Great little book.

The illustrations in this book have washed out looking maps as the background for many of the pages in this book. If you are reading one one, it may be fun to get out a road map or road atlas and start talking about some geography and how the lines show where the roads go or pull up maps on your mobile device.

Trucks! There are lots of kinds and they do lots of things and go lots of places, all very hipster-artistically.

This is probably the first of these multi-media vehicle-feature books that we discovered, and after taking a look at it I think it's one of the best. The pairing of drivers of each of the trucks is really clever and the rhymes work really well. These are always a hit at our house.

My son loved this book! He is 3 1/2 and adores vehicles of any kind. We're talking hours and hours of fun with this book. I got it from the library and it's now the first book on my list to buy on the next trip to the library.

I am usually not fond of this type of artwork, but it works great in this setting. The text has great rhythm and rhyme. My preschooler and I enjoyed noticing who (or what) was driving each truck. For example, a cow drove the milk truck, an ancient Greek statue drove the cement truck, etc.

Great little book

So many concepts can be discussed with a small child with this book...colors, occupations, directionality, ..many many more! Can't wait to read it with my grandson!

Simple rhyming text. The illustrations are the best part of the book. For this book, the illustrator made collages from old picture dictionaries, clip art, etchings, original drawings, and maps. The drivers of the trucks coordinate with the truck's function in some way.

Won't keep the interest of preschoolers after the first reading with parents.

Good selection of trucks, but the nostalgic emphasis on trucks of past years makes this book endearing to senior citizens, but not so much to younger readers.

My two year old's favorite book and the first book that he's tried to "read" all by himself. So cute. This book gets five stars from me because he likes it so much!

The artwork is fun but it might be a bit busy for storytime. This will be a favorite one-on-one read because of the truck drivers (clown, monkey, lobster, boy, etc.).
