Start with that gorgeous cover and carry on to the end of the book for another rewarding read from David Michie.

HHC (His Holiness's Cat) is back with more tales from Dharamsala, as only she can tell them. Favorite characters return, new ones arrive, their stories providing a delightful read. Woven seamlessly into the character interactions are applications of Tibetan Buddhism to their situations - as well as our own - presented clearly and in ordinary jargon-free language.

David has done it again, another Dharma talk in novel form. Excellent story as usual, with little fluff or unnecessary verbiage for seeing the truth! Each story arc brings another buddhist lesson to the fore. And they are easily digested and understood! Good job, David, keep them coming!

2023 bk 282. A pink stretch vehicle in the courtyard, a group of young influencers - what is one cat to do. Well sit and listen as the Dalai Lama explains the secret of happiness is not in things - not what most of this group wants to hear, but the words touch one girl and one cat. This is a book about how individual's learn things that may not be important to them, but that can be important to others.

Completion of a series

D. Miche continues the lessons, stories and relationships in this book that have flowed from one book to another.
Somehow I hope he can find the ability to be able to write at least one more book for this story.

worth the read but…

This book is well worth the read if you want to learn more about Buddhism. However, there’s really not much of a story to it. The whole book is really talks on Buddhism, with different characters asking questions that we might ask. The story line is pretty weak.

The only mention of the influencers that shows in the summary of the book to entice you to read it is at the very beginning of the story. So, if you’re like me and you’re expecting a story about how he taught these young ladies, you’ll be disappointed. On the other hand, to me, the book went into more depth about Buddhist practices than his other stories about HHC.

You might consider this a tiny bit of a spoiler, so spoiler alert - maybe. I got irritated at one point when Michie talked about Buddhism as the only path to enlightenment. The vibe in the yoga studio was that every other religion was left out. There is not a major religion that doesn’t have a mystic path. I will agree that most Christianity tends to emphasize what you’re doing for others rather than how to work on spiritual advancement. However, we all have our mystics who have tried to enlighten us. Michie does make a small mention of Christian mystics in a later chapter, so he did redeem himself, in my eyes, slightly.

So, is the book worth reading? Yes, but only if you want to learn more about Buddhism. If you’re wanting an enjoyable story to go along with your Buddhist talks, you might not enjoy this book as much as the other books about the Dalai Lama’s cat.

Overall: The Claw of Attraction was another fantastic hit from Michie. Like the social media influencers in the beginning of the story, I had a skewed vision of how the Law of Attraction works. The western idea (although it is new to us) of this law makes it seem like we can manifest anything we want to, whenever we want to, almost like a magic trick. However, the Law of attraction isn’t quite that simple, but is immensely more powerful. I am going to miss reading this series for the first time (unless David Michie hears my wishes for more HHC!). I enjoyed learning how dependency and interconnectedness are important and vital in Buddhist ideals, and how we can be connected to souls around us for lifetimes.

Favorite part: Blake Ballantyne! Not only is his name so fun to say, his character was a true light to the rest of the characters in the story. He came into the story with so much knowledge and guidance for others, that it was inspiring.

I have read and I am a big fan of all the books of the Dalai Lama’s cat. This last one did not disappoint me. I love the characters and the description of their life at Daramsala. Since the first book I imagine all the settings and I long to go there.
Like the others, the book is deceivenly simple. The plot is not complex, however, it is full of precious teachings. The author knows a lot about budhism, and he transmits concepts such as sunnyata and boddicita in a way that can be understood even by people not familiar with them. It was a pleasure to meet all those characters again, especially Rinpoche, this adorable cat.
Long life to the Dalai Lama’s cat and all his friends. I am already waiting for the next book.

I absolutely love this series and was excited to find out there was another book. Unfortunately, this one didn't hit the mark for me, and I almost didn't finish it. It wasn't as light and entertaining as the others.

This felt more like a Buddhism class than a story. I prefer the lighter fables that teach while being entertaining. I was confused by some of the terms, and the characters weren't as fleshed out as in previous books. I'd probably give this 3.5 stars. I absolutely love HHC. This book was just light on story, and it meandered a lot.

I can only hope this is not the last book in the series but it seems like it may be. For me, this book seemed to have more information on the Buddhist way of life woven through. As with the previous 5 books, I read them on kindle but treasured them so much, I purchased the books, have re-read them and underlined and highlighted to my hearts content. Mr. Michie has a gentle and nuanced way of sharing his belief system that draws the reader making him or her consider the forthright wisdom of it all. Oh! The covers are an absolute delight!!!

I've found the time to read this series of books always coincides with when I need some of the lessons the most. This latest edition is no exception.

Yes, the story becomes a bit contrived at times, but oh how I love this cat, these characters and the setting.

Most of all I have loved the teachings.
This is a series I will return to again and again as I grapple with Buddhist concepts and try to progress my own self awareness. The series is a beautiful way of introducing Buddhism to all.

this man can´t write an interesting plot line to save his life. upřímně si myslím, že by měl zůstat u odborné nebo naučné literatury. tím, jak se všechno prolíná, sice udržuje knihu co se dějových linek dosti uzavřenou, ale příběh tím trpí, všechno je předvídatelné a dost... idk, dětinské? jednoduché? tím, že je všechno vysvětleno, v podstatě nemusíte přemýšlet, it´s all spoon fed to you. a i tak se v tom příběhu dokáže ztratit.

I follow David Michie. I like mostly his Dalai Lama's Cat series since I am a cat people. The feline character is really cute, tender and well accomplished. I think this new delivery is the one most aimed to spirituality and Buddhism's teachings oriented. The reading has to be more careful so the reader can understand better the content. I liked it and hope it is not the last to know from HHC.
