Leo is used to taking Omegas through their heats, what with being a sex worker and an Alpha. When he gets hired by a couple to help with the Omega’s rougher-than-normal heats, he doesn’t think much of it. It’s just another job, after all.
Omega Josh and Alpha Damon are obviously in love. They have everything Leo has ever wanted—safety, acceptance, tenderness. There is no way there’s space for Leo in what they have.
There’s no way Leo is good enough for either of them. Falling in love with clients is a terrible idea, let alone two…Leo just doesn’t know how to stop.

When Marina was a child she couldn’t sleep. Night after dissolving night she just couldn’t sleep. Nothing much worked – until she started making up stories in her head. Suddenly, the transition into unconsciousness was a smooth dive into calm waters.
Marina is currently in a period of sleepless upheaval, and she hopes writing down the stories in her head will cast the same spell it did years ago.
reread 08/2025 Lovely novella for in between. Steamy but touching and heart warming, too. -------------- reread 07/2024 Still loved this sweet and touching mmm omegaverse novella (no mpreg). ----- 04/2024 5 stars. This novella delivered exactly what it promised. A sweet mmm romance (omega/alpha/alpha), no mpreg. Lots of sex, but a slowly building relationship, too. One MC had mental health issues because of his childhood, but eventually went to therapy, setting the foundation to their relationship becoming a possibility. Lovely and kind characters, full of love for each other. My favorite by this author so far.
Marina Vivancos is so good at balancing really hot sex scenes with good character work, conflict and tension. This was another winner. I don't read omegaverse much, and there are some elements I really like (marking, scenting, possessiveness, etc.) and then there are other elements that I guess I don't like as much (omega anatomy). Even still, I enjoyed this a lot.
Leo is not your typical alpha. He's a little reserved, very sweet, and a little submissive. He's had a tough childhood and decides to become a sex worker after he turns 18. He mainly helps Omegas through their heats, but eventually Leo starts taking on other clients as well, including other alphas. Then he gets a call from a mated pair- Josh (Omega) and Damen (Alpha). Josh and Damen need another Alpha to help with Josh's heats which are super frequent and intense due to a condition that Josh has. It's all going great, except that there's all these unexpected FEELINGS.
As much as I love the sex worker trope, it can be tricky once the characters catch feelings. Does Leo quit his job? Does he keep sleeping with other people? Maybe it's just because I'm a Marina Vivancos Stan, but I think she handled this conundrum perfectly.
I loved these boys and I had a ton of fun with this.
*Re-Read. I thought I loved this the first time, but on re-reading I have come to realise that this belongs on my top 12 desert island reads shelf. I was piece of melted cheese the entire read.
Though what is with that cover??? One of the MC's was BLONDE!!! I have no ideas who is who.
Original Review:
My first ever MMM. Though I have read a few books with threesomes, never one with an actual throuple. I have been a bit scared to try, afraid of jealousy and icky-ness but this book had me hooked big time.
This is an Omegaverse book where the author plays around with gender norms and anatomy….which, whatever, fine. But one of the characters has a “pussy” which kind of jump scared me. I tend to like my MM books devoid of vaginas. Due to this I deducted a star but put it straight back after the “Emperor’s New Groove” reference.
Rough Heat was on the shorter side, but man did it still pack a punch of feels and emotions in under 200 pages.
The story is solely in Leo’s POV, who is such a different and refreshing take on alphas I immediately fell in love with him — to see the struggles he had to get through for his HEA made my heart hurt for him. I loved how the three characters slowly came together, so loving and sweet, and I did not want it to end. Also the Alpha-on-Alpha action 🤤❤️🔥
I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.
Tropes and NSFW info (spoilers): - Poly relationship - Hurt/comfort - Heat/rut sex - Knotting - No mpreg - Top-vers-vers (Alpha-Alpha-Omega)
(11/3/25 don't mind me just reading this for the 4th time 😙) ----------------------------------------------- this book scratched all of my itches - poly, abo, hurt/comfort. i've read this before - it was good, but now the revised version is even better and i didn't think it was possible 😭 what i love about this book is that the romantic relationship was not just smut, there was some super sweet and wholesome moments (the banter was so fun!) + the characters were more fleshed out with the added chapter of leo spending time with josh and damon individually :3
this was super cute, i love reading about leo's healing journey - it's made more realistic with leo taking a break from relationships to sort his feelings out, not just him being healed by a new relationship and sex yk???
i received a copy of this book from gay romance reviews, honest review.
2.5 stars This was... disappointing. To be perfectly honest, I checked twice to see if it was co-authored because the writing style wasn't like any of the other Vivancos books I've read. It also took me a while to read, usually I binge read her books.
MMM, alpha/alpha/omega, one of the Alphas is a sex worker and vers. He's hired to help with heats for the mated couple, there's a medical condition. No Mpreg. Heats, ruts, mating marks, knotting. 144 pages. Forgot to say more positive therapy rep!
The writing felt stilted, with short sentences, dialogue-heavy, so much telling, none of the purple prose usually present, it felt very bare bones.
It also had a lot of "snorting", 16 to be exact.
>They managed to walk normally to the taco truck nearby, ordering way too much food and sitting on the curb to eat it, fingers sticky with meat juice and sauce by the end of it.
“Oh, my God.” Leo groaned. “I can’t move. Roll me home.”
“No, me,” Josh replied.
“You guys roll each other home, I live here now,” Damon proclaimed. <
Just, what was that? Think I need to follow this up with a different Vivancos book and just wipe this one from my memory!
Loved this so much. Such a beautiful story full of love, rawness, healing, want and three perfect pieces, who finally are together🥹♥️
I’ve never read a omegaverse like this one, this paring and I absolutely love it 🙌
The way Josh and Damon saved Leo was beyond beautiful, I’ll have to read this again for sure! They made him feel worthy just by loving him 🫠🫠🫠The sex, from the start was so hot but like a well oiled machine, like they belong together and were just trying to figure out. The heats, and the rut god in heaven give a ice bath please!!! 🥵🥵🥵🥵
The dating, the farmers market, the cooking, movie night, bowling, live all the their domestics and couple shenanigans 🫶 and Leo new job? Melting into a puddle of swoon 🥹
This needed to be longer, so much to explore and expose. they are truly what I want to read in a MMM relationship.🤌
Didn’t like the pussy thing… it was only a few times at the beginning but no for me.
This story was pretty straightforward. And quite emotional which was a pleasant surprise.
I knew exactly what I was getting from this book and that was just what I needed and wanted. No big surprises and nothing too exceptional about it but I liked it very much.
Here I thought I'd just casually dip my foot into omegaverse waters and get some meaningless smut but instead I got an incredible novella that made me obsessed with a new to me author?
Yeah the book is hot but it's about the ~intimacy and I am fully feral for it!
Everyone loved this novels but I just found it okay…I mean it wasn’t bad but I felt almost nothing here. I didn’t really connected with the characters nor with the story. I didn’t even found the sex scenes spectacular it was just okay. Ugh maybe I would have liked it more if I had read it later or soon but yeah it wasn’t really for me.
I usually completely avoid “established couple plus one” stories, they’re just not my cup of tea. But I flicked through this and the one scene I initially read just worked for me, so I started from the start and ended up loving it. I think it was cause it was from the pov of the “plus one”, so it avoided what I don’t usually like.
I loved Leo and the emotions in this felt so real. It’s short and sweet and I def recommend. Marina Vivancos has yet to let me down 🫶
Rating: 5 Steam: 4 PoV: single, 3rd person Genre: paranormal romance, omegaverse, MMM Tropes / tags: hurt / comfort, sex worker, pining
I read Rough Heat a while ago - it was a story that stayed with me and the only complaint I had was that it felt a little short. So, obviously I was thrilled when I saw that it was being released with an added chapter.
Trust me, this story hit just as hard the second time around… oh, how my heart ached for Leo. Leo with his broken confidence and history, his big heart and misguided reasonings. He was such a loveable character, and his struggles really made my heart hurt.
Josh, Damon and Leo just clicked, even from the first meeting their chemistry was obvious and Josh and Damon never felt like “just” clients. I loved how sweet they were together and it was clear that the couple really cared about Leo, and they were so great with him.
It took some time for everything to fall into place for these guys, but I loved how it was written and how everything needed to happen in order for Leo to truly get his HEA. The hurt / comfort was amazing, as always with Marina Vivancos’ stories, and I’m so happy that I finally got a little more time with these men!
Rough Heat was a real gem to read, I loved Leo’s journey and it made for such a beautiful and moving story. If you’re into omegaverse and hurt / comfort with lots of feels to it, this needs to be on your TBR!
- Thanks to Gay Romance Reviews for the opportunity to read and review this book. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.
So much lovely desperate emotional horniness, hurt comfort and mutual care and affection in such a short book. Marina Vivancos is magical, this book was lovely, I read it in one long sitting and could not put it down. Highly recommend.
I liked this, overall, but the writing felt a little stilted and I really wasn’t a fan of the direction they chose to go in regarding the male omega anatomy… it just seemed unnecessary. And kind of uncomfortably awkward, honestly. I was glad when it stopped being directly referenced in later chapters, but that just made it feel that much more unnecessary. 🤷🏻♀️
Wtf, this was way more emotional than I thought it would be. It's single POV and 3rd person writing so not my nornal book style. But honestly in a short book like this, I realized it is good to have single POV, just focus on 1 MC, and at least bond a bit with him. Leo was an amazing MC and had great chemistry with others. I keep saying I hate MMM and keep reading them but because we havent delved individual couple dynamics here, I didnt find the usual "one of them thirdwheeling" feeling here. It was about Leo and him finding his place with a long term couple. Other MCs are not so special but definetly loveable.
This author really does to a cracking novella. I usually find them not long enough to get fully invested in the characters but I felt really attached to all three of them quite quickly, they were very distinct.
As with all novellas I was still left wanting a bit more filler though. A bit more of the inbetween moments. But overall this was exactly what I needed, a short and spicy book with endearing characters and a surprising amount of depth.
Standard Marina Vivancos; promising concept, meh execution. This one was shorter and definitely felt pretty rushed, particularly the last half or so. I enjoyed it enough for what it was, but I went in expecting what I got.
Rough Heat is a standalone omegaverse romance by Marina Vivancos. Here's what you can expect from Leo, Josh, and Damon:
🧡 MMM omegaverse romance 🧡 Third person single point of view 🧡 Guaranteed happily ever after 🧡 Mated Alpha/omega couple 🧡 Alpha sex worker 🧡 Unusual heats 🧡 Mental illness representation
This was a relatively short, spicy read with a good dose of heart! The blurb really intrigued me, with the established (mated) Alpha/omega couple Damon and Josh needing to hire Leo to help Josh through his unusual, rougher-than-normal heats. The dynamics were definitely interesting with Damon's protectiveness over his mate, who has been quite sick and unable to keep weight on due to the heats. What starts as a job quickly becomes more, and the back third of the book follows Leo as he tries to navigate through complicated feelings, trauma from his upbringing, and managing burnout from his workaholic lifestyle.
I loved watching the dynamics between Damon and Josh as a mated pair, but also how things changed when they brought Leo in. Instead of getting a heat every two months like most Omegas, Josh gets a rough one every two weeks. With Leo's assistance, they get easier and suddenly it becomes more than a transaction. The chemistry between the three men was so electric, and I thought the spicy scenes were done well (and there's lots of them). Overall, this was an enjoyable read. I think Leo's journey inward could've used a little more time since it felt a bit rushed, but I did have a good time getting to know these three! Especially seeing Damon coming out of his shell, Josh get healthier, and Leo's mental wellness improve so significantly.
▪️About this book: -MMM Romance -Omegaverse -Fated Mates -HEA
▪️Thoughts: Throughout this book which is mainly focused on Leo, an Alpha, who provides services, mainly to Omegas who want someone to pass their heat with. Leo is then hired by a couple, Damon an Alpha and Josh an Omega, they have exhausted all of their options of seeking a solution for John's condition. Damon and Josh have never done this before and Leo, after making sure it is something they truly want, is there to do his job. Leo may look like the typical Alpha, but the abuse he has endured in the past by his father has affected him to the point he doesn't voice his opinions. From the start Leo knew Damon and Josh were going to be different than his other clients and as time went on the connection between them kept building. This book was sad especially as we keep reading more about Leo and was also sweet by the end. The way Leo sees himself of not being worth much and separating himself not only from Damon and Josh who care about him but also his sister was heartbreaking. We saw saw such a change and determination in Leo with his life changes and going therapy also talking about his last with Damon and Josh among other ways helped heal and quiet the voices and negative thoughts in his head. Leo began to see that he truly was theirs and they were his they were a unit, the three of them. Leo knew there that was were he belonged alongside his mates who saw him for who he was and took care of him.
▪️Quotes: 💬 This was it. He couldn’t put it into words, but what he felt right then— that sense of home, of belonging and acceptance— was what he had fallen for in the first place.
I received this book as an ARC, this is my honest opinion.
3.75⭐️ Short, sweet, and very spicy omegaverse story. This book follows Leo, a s*x worker alpha who has a gentle nature. In his line of work, he meets Damon and Josh, a mated couple who have an issue: Josh is insatiable during his “heat” and Damon needs support to take care of him. Leo soon finds he is catching more feelings than appropriate when dealing with clients.
This book has: -omegaverse people -alpha x omega x alpha -lots of spice -established couple x sex worker -spice first, fluff later
This book is less than 150 pages, so it gets right to the point. If you’re looking for something with lots of spice and omegaverse dynamics (without it being TOO omegaverse-ish), you will enjoy this book!
It’s definitely not anything profound, but it’s very cute and sweet in the end ☺️
4.5 stars I've never read an Omegaverse romance before and I'm very glad this was my first. I wasn't familiar with the terms heat, rut, knotting, but this story has been very fluid and easy.
Leo, an Alpha, is a sex worker and he's hired by Damon, Alpha,to help his mate, Josh, Omega, who suffers from a very difficult illness that makes his heats too frequent and intense. Leo has always had a detached approach with his clients: he likes help people but his boundaries are firm, no emotional involvment with them. And yet since he meets the couple for the first time, he finds himself attracted to them, not only physically, but also emotionally: they represent all he's ever wanted, love, stability, fondness, care. Everything he thinks he doesn't deserve because of the abuse he endured from his father.
This book has only Leo's POV: in fact, the focus of the story is not J's illness, but Leo's healing journey. I don't want to spoil anything, I'm just going to say that Leo's got a lot to work on and that Damon and J are amazing with him, supportive, caring, patient. The sex scenes are a little different from the ones I'm used to read in contemporary MM romances, of course, but I liked them, especially because a lot of feelings were involved.
The epilogue is absolutely beautiful and I recommend this book, even if omegaverse romance i not your favourite genre.
I received an ARC of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review.
How on earth did a novella pack so much punch! That was bloody amazing. I adored every single thing about this book. First time dabbling with omegaverse and this was the perfect intro and I’m officially a fan. I adored every character, they were so distinct and stayed true to character all the way through. I loved that there was pining and a little angst in the middle. I cried, laughed, swooned. This was a kick your feet, squealing kinda book! I just can’t believe such a short book made me feel so much. Mmm can be a challenge too but I connected with each character. Gah, I wanna read another 100 pages of these wonderful men 😭❤️
Lost track of how many times I've reread the original, and it was lovely to revisit the book with so much more added! Marina Vivancos is such a gifted writer, and this novella ticks so many boxes for me. 4.5 rounded up to 5 because I just loved getting to spend more time with these guys.
I read the first version of this and absolutely LOVED it, but the second version is even better. Highly HIGHLY recommend if you want an emotional journey about healing with a happy ending.
