Witchy suspense - count me in!

The plot: Andie has a vision of Dessie (an owner of a B&B in her hometown) and just knows that she has to go back and help the woman because Dessie is in danger. But that is all Andie knows, and when she finally arrives at Tarbet, she realizes that something strange is going on and Dessie has a secret room, which holds something important to be discovered.

What I liked:

1. the story. It has everything - mysterious events, witches, strange rituals, and the greatest puzzle from Dessie's past.

2. the characters. I liked both Dessie and Andie. Dessie is a strong, persistent, loyal woman, who knows what she wants and is not afraid to act on her inklings concerning the strange events happening in Tarbet. Andie is also persistent in her task of protecting Dessie, she is not afraid to ask for help and speak her mind to the superior witch in town. I kind of admired her in this scene, because it showed that she took her task seriously and with great responsibility. All the other characters are also important to the story and play different roles; some of them are annoying, some suspicious, and they open up gradually, so in the beginning it's hard to tell who is a friend and who is not.

3. the suspense. I was so glad to find a mystery to be solved. And it was an intriguing one. The events from the past and present are intertwined and one can not be worked out without the other. And I was not able to guess the bad guy and the outcome of events. I like it when the ending has me surprised and it was the case with this book.

Overall opinion: I'm really glad that I picked this story up. At first, it was a little bit difficult to get into it, but then it became dynamic and the pages flew by quickly. It is well-written and easy to read, suspenseful and entertaining. I also liked it very much that the author did not put in a love plotline throughout the book, just hinted in the end that Dessie might be ready for a new romance in her life - and to me, it was a great move. All in all, I greatly enjoyed the book, and I hope I will get to read more about Andie and her witch friends 😊 If you enjoy mysterious, captivating stories with witches - then definitely give this book a try!

I was looking for something different and this fit the bill. It has two perspectives - Andie and Dessie. At times, I had trouble determining when it was a flashback but I soon figured it out. The author did a good job of leaving clues but not spelling out the entire plot/event/relationships etc.. It was a pretty quick read and engaging. However, I don’t feel I loved it enough to continue reading this series. I did enjoy it though.

Exciting witchy action!

A vision draws Andie back home to Tarbet. Ignoring the vision would be painful, and it would come again and again until she did her job. Andie doesn't know what she needs to protect Dessie McKendrick from, but she knows it's something terrible.

This is an exciting story. The clues drew me in and kept me hooked until the very end. This is going to be a fun series. I received a free copy, but my review is honest and voluntary.

I want to thank BookSirens and Felicity Green Books for an e-copy of this book.

Brief Summary: Dessie McKendrick is stuck in her past. After her husband's disappearance 10 years ago she has been determined to find answers. However, when a similar case opens in town she is drawn back to her grief and becomes obsessed with finding answers.

Thoughts: I was initially drawn to this book because it has witches, Scottish Highlands, and a mystery element. Overall, this book did not disappoint. It felt a bit like the second cousin of Nancy Drew and Sabrina.

I found the writing really engrossing. Green wove together a murder mystery with a witch subplot so well that I did not want to put the book down once I started reading (even though I had to at various points).

Although I saw a few plot twists coming, Green still managed to have a few twists and turns that kept me engaged in the mystery elements.

I do have to say that I am a little on the fence about whether I liked the characters or not. Dessie in particular I felt ambivalent about. She seemed to discount the advice of the women around her in favour of men that she barely knew. She also did not exhibit very open-minded behaviours when introduced to new things that were not romance-related. I laughed at one point when she said she needed to trust her instincts because up until that point, she hadn't demonstrated strong ones. I did struggle with that as I understand I had more information than Dessie about the story, but still found it ironic. I do think that Dessie did realize by the end that she might be a little quick to judge people that was good, but overall I didn't feel like there was strong character development, simply an acknowledgment that growth could occur.

I also struggled with Andie's assessment of the women around her. Fionna is one of her best friends but, Andie seems to disparage her appearance and home quite a bit throughout the book. It was not entirely clear to me, but it did seem a bit like Fionana might have had some mental health issues she was struggling with. Also, there were some hard turns with Andie's opinions of Penny that were a little hard for me to follow, but I think that perhaps their friendship ended in a good place.

Overall, this was a captivating read that checked a lot of the boxes I wanted for a mystery novel with magical elements. I will be checking out the other books in the series.

What a fantastic spin on the witch trope in cozy mysteries.

Andie and Dessie are lost in their own lives, both following mysteries evolving the other without realizing how their paths intertwine. This read starts out in a vision and the rollercoaster of emotions doesn't let up until the end.

For Andie's part, she has spent so much time running from her calling, when she is forced to solve the mystery, she had to handle a lot of personal growth about herself and her community along the way. This is so well written, the personalities of the other woman in her club left me wanting to get to know them all better. The world is unique, and I loved exploring the aspects of magic.

Dessie has been at a standstill for ten years. Her life is on pause, and she needs answers before she can put the loss of her husband to rest. The desperation is so powerful throughout her character. Each scene you are left wanting to be screaming at these people with her. Feeling like they never did enough to find him, and using it to fuel her every choice. It makes the ending so impactful. While she was abrasive, there was no way not to root for her.

While I am left with questions, they are all regarding the world build and wanting so much more of the community. Every string that is opened for both mysteries is wrapped up nicely with final revivals worth bingeing for. All of the characters play a part, and I secretly want to see more of Dessie and Declan's interactions. Was that a spark?

You can't have a book about Scotland without mentioning the scenery. You can definitely tell that the author has been to these places, they are magically described, from sunrises to landscape. It left me wanting to plan a trip to a nice little BnB, maybe not one where people go missing though.

If you love witchy cozy mysteries with not your usual variety plots, and strong willed female characters, you're going to adore this book.

I discovered this book because it was the May read for the Cozy Mystery Book Club!

Not for me, not bad, just not my taste

It starts with a vision, and that left me confused. It was weird to me, with no background, no backstory, no sense of what was important and what not. And what do you mean, Dessie’s double? Who is Dessie even? And what is a double? And that meant that for me, the book was already at a disadvantage, made it hard to get into. But I did want to give this a fair chance. But after that vision, when the normal story started, I was still confused. Two POVs, Andie and Dessie. Who is Andie? Who is Dessie? (Yes, I still struggled with that.) I felt like I was being thrown in without any information, without any background, and I don’t like not understanding. Yes, I know in a mystery, there are always mystery elements, and I don’t mean that. I mean that, at first, I didn’t understand the characters, nor the context, nor the story. I could taste Dessie’s sadness and bitterness, but without knowing why, it’s hard to empathize. But as the story continued the pieces of information fell into place, and it picked up, and I found myself being interested. And then the flashback came, without mentioning we went back in time, I only realized that pages in. And that had me confused all over again, and this time I didn’t recover from it. I made it all the way to the end, because I did want to know. And I did like a few parts, for sure. It was well written and the conversations were well done. And it was twisty! That was good! So while it wasn’t bad, not at all, it just wasn’t my thing, the way it was done. I felt that it needed a bit more structure. And maybe it was a tad too dark for me. But you know what? It’s just a simple truth that not every book is for every reader, and that’s OK. So while I do appreciate the effort that the author put in, I won’t be continuing this series. But you just try it yourself, you might like it!

After reading the blurb for this book, I got excited and expected to enjoy a few hours with a cozy, fun paranormal mystery. I got a nice mystery and a little bit of supernatural, but no cozy or fun. I also think the blurb misrepresents how the story actually goes.

The story starts with a vision, which is somewhat confusing, as we don't know any characters or what is happening yet. There are two POVs, Andie's and Dessie's, but at the beginning, it is clear that the author wants the reader to see the situation from Dessie's side. We are given access to all her knowledge, but not Andie's, despite obvious hints that Andie knows more about what is going on.

It was difficult to relate to and like the characters. I had a hard time grasping their personalities. Dessie comes off as obsessed and slightly unhinged with her theories about the missing men. She keeps reliving the past, jumps to conclusions, and refuses to listen to others. Andie, on the other hand, seems clueless about how to be a witch. She scurries around, trying to help, but doesn't really accomplish all that much. As a reader, I felt I didn't get to know the characters beyond a surface level.

The mystery itself was good, with some unexpected turns and twists. The drastic increase in action at the end, though, was perhaps a bit too much.

There were a few scenes that reminded the reader the setting was in Scotland, but sadly it didn't do anything to improve the story. The setting could have been any random village and it wouldn't have made a difference.

All in all, this book just wasn't for me. I enjoyed the mystery part but not much else, and I am unsure whether I will give the next book in the series a try or not. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Witch Club

By

Felicity Green

⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Witch Club by Felicity Green takes place in the Highlands of Scotland where local superstitions abound. The FMC, Dessie McKendrick, is consumed by her determination to find the answer to her husband’s strange disappearance while on a honeymoon in Scotland. The two stayed overnight in a local B&B, and when she awoke the next morning, her husband had disappeared without a trace. Dessie continued searching for answers for ten years, not leaving the town but eventually opening her own B&B and investigating every clue and possibility that presented itself. The local police believe that her husband just got cold feet and took off and discontinued investigating with no lead to follow. Dessie becomes suspicious of a local women’s club due to their strange behavior, believing them to be a coven of witches and having something to do with her husband’s disappearance. Things become complicated and dangerous when Dessie finds that things and people aren’t who they appear to be and who to trust becomes muddled.

I thought the book was well-written and the storyline was intriguing. The characters were well-developed and surprising as the story continued, which added to the enjoyment and anticipation of the story. A mythical adventure/mystery with some tantalizing twists and a climatic ending that was not only fulfilling but begged to be continued. I enjoyed reading The Witch Club and would recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Readers Copy.

Set in and around Arrochar and Tarbet – the narrow spit of land that separates Lock Lomond from Loch Long – I felt quite at home as I was reading. Although I am not a Scot by birth, I am a fan of that area of the northwest coast, having visited Arrochar previously. The author uses the fabulous geography and its rural constraints to further her story and as a stunning backdrop to the main action of the plot.
Dessie, a B&B owner, is the central character in this story, and she has a fascinating backstory that drives the principal plotline. As a character, I found her difficult to like to start with, but when the various elements of her back story began to be slowly revealed, my understanding of her actions and motivations gradually transformed.
The supplementary characters were equally as engaging – including the villain of the piece, who is hiding in plain sight throughout the book until an eventual unveiling. As for the witch club. Yes, there is one, and it seems to consist of most of Dessie’s friends and neighbours. Are they really witches? You’ll just have to read the book to find out!
An interesting story that I unexpectedly enjoyed with a narrative voice that flowed well. The story is told from different points of view, but the device is handled very well by this author.
If you're looking for something that is a little bit scary but also has a bit of magic along with a mystery that keeps you guessing, then this might be your perfect read for Hallowe'en.

I really wanted to just give up on this book by the quarter mark. I was looking for a lighthearted cozy mystery with a touch of paranormal. It has the touch of paranormal but none of the whimsy I associate with Scottish Highlands or cozy mysteries. Also, there's really nothing to indicate it's in Scotland beyond them saying so other than two scenes where the witches are supposedly chanting in Gaelic. No, this is a story about a woman obsessed with her husband's disappearance and the subsequent disappearance of another man from the same B&B 10 years later. It's a darker mystery.

In all honesty it did pick up after the quarter mark and held my interest from time to time. I suspected the "bad guy" by mid way through and was a little concerned for the MC when he began showing controlling tendencies that indicate obsession on his part or something worse on the horizon.

I've been captivated by books before. I've been sucked in and held prisoner until the very end. I've been sad because a book ended and I wanted more. But that wasn't the case with this book for me. I don't know what it was about those books that had that effect on me. I don't know what would make this one better. Based on other reviews, I'm in the minority.

The Missing Grooms . . .

Andie was having a dream, yet she recognized what kind of dream it really was. A boat crossed Loch Lomond as Andie recognized the woman in the bow as Dessie McKendrick. Andie followed Dessie to Tarbet, Andie’s hometown, and was led by Dessie to Dessie’s B&B. With no words spoken, they entered Room 3 where Andie saw the walls full of newspaper clippings, photos, and documents, completely covering the floral wallpaper. Unusual items were sorted into piles by size all over the floor and bed. Dessie pointed to a man’s picture as tears flowed down her cheeks. Then right before her eyes, dream-Dessie began to disintegrate into nothing, piece by piece, while insects and worms appeared and began to consume what was left of her. Fog began to fill the room and Andie knew she had to get out.

Dessie’s husband had disappeared 10 years earlier during their honeymoon, and Dessie continues to live in the village, purchasing a B&B. She must find out what happened to her husband. She cannot move on without closure. Andie wants to help her and comes back to Tarbet, working for Dessie at the B&B. When history repeats itself and another husband goes missing, can Dessie and Andie find out the truth about the coven and its rituals? Or will they lose their own lives trying to solve this mystery?

Felicity Green - The Witch Club (Scottish Witches Mysteries #1)

I received an ARC ebook for free from BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Dessie - young owner of Bed and Breakfast accommodation in the Scottish Highlands, who still, after ten years, waits for her husband to come back to her, after he went missing in the same neighborhood.
Andie - Dessies employee, who has a special mission and tries to protect Dessie while she’s not allowed to expose her intentions.
There are weird things happening around the village and everybody seems to be connected to Dessie's husband disappearing.
At first, I couldn’t get past the first chapters. The author's writing style seemed too easy and chaotic. But something kept me reading. The cover suggests this book would be similar to ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’. I expected a cozy mystery (fun, cocoa, tea…). I’ve got thriller, suspense and dark secrets instead.
The witches are not that prevalent in the first book. There is more mystery around them, and we aren’t even sure what's going on with them. All the loose ends tie towards the end, and you see the true character of everybody. There’s only one thing missing. And that's an explanation of how the witches work and chant. I hope we get more of their coven and witchcraft detectives in the next books.

Great start to the series

I actually read books 4 and 5 before this one, so it was great to go back to the beginning to learn a bit more about the various characters. It's certainly not necessary to read this one first, but it did make some things from the later books much clearer.

This book focuses on Dessie (not a witch and with no clue such things even exist) and Andie (whose witchy gift involves premonitions), but we also get introductions to many of the other residents of Tarbet. The relationships and conflicts between the characters are complex and realistic and weave seamlessly through the storyline.

And what a storyline it is! Dessie doesn't seem to quite belong in Tarbet, but she can't leave until she knows what happened to her husband a decade ago. Andie doesn't even want to be in Tarbet, but she can't ignore her gift and her gift has shown her she needs to help Dessie. She also can't reveal her gift to Dessie, making it hard to help her. After a wild ride with many twists, turns, and misunderstandings we finally have the answer Dessie needs and some new and changed relationships.

This is a well-written, fast-paced (after a bit of a slow start) book that was hard to put down. If you like characters who have some interesting gifts but are also all-too human, this book's for you.

Dessie's story is unique. She set aside her life and lived to learn the truth about the man she thought she loved. As you read the story there are red flags aplenty that things are not what they seem. Things are also not what I expected. Dessie is a good and caring inn owner but also an obsessed person and that obsession has led to many life choices. Thinking she finely has a chance to understand the one event that set the rest of her life into motion leads her into trouble. The trouble is very prevalent when she follows the "guilty" person and ends up with a rough introduction to witches. From that point the mystery picked up. With that said, until we reach that point, things are a little dry and move slowly. That one event signals a chance in the excitement level in the story as well as moving us toward the conclusion. I had my suspicions of one character we meet early on but certainly did not put it together. The author did a nice job of throwing out a red herring in the "creepy" other inn owner only to turn things completely around. As you are reading, remember nothing is as it seems. I enjoyed the book and will check out the next one.

Set amidst the mystical Highlands of Scotland, where local superstitions hold sway, "The Witch Club" delivers a well-crafted narrative brimming with intrigue. From the outset, I found myself drawn into the story's rich tapestry, captivated by its twists and turns.

The characters are expertly developed, revealing surprising depths as the plot unfolds. This element of unpredictability only served to enhance my enjoyment of the story, keeping me eagerly anticipating each new revelation.

A blend of mythical adventure and mystery, "The Witch Club" boasts tantalizing twists that kept me guessing until the climactic ending. I found the resolution to be both satisfying and compelling, leaving me yearning for more.

In terms of pacing, the book is a true page-turner, with suspense that had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I simply couldn't put it down, so engrossed was I in the captivating narrative.

Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend "The Witch Club" to anyone seeking a gripping read. With its well-drawn characters, expertly crafted plot, and palpable suspense, it's a literary journey that won't disappoint.

Scottish delight - Andie's visions drive her home to her little village for the summer. Dessie needs her protection. The only question is from who or what? Dessie has lived in the village since her husband disappeared almost a decade ago. He wouldn't have just abandoned her, right? There has to be a logical reason why he just vanished. When a young traveler goes missing from the same broken down inn she last saw Connor at all those years ago, her fire to find her husband is rekindled. It can't be a coincidence that both young men vanished from the same house, owned by the same creepy old crone. There has to be a connection and Dessie will find it if it's the last thing she does.

This book was a great read. The characters, even the anti-heroes, are vividly brought to life by the author. The twists and turns that weave the tale together create an intricate web that takes the reader on an unpredictable journey to the truth. The element of fantasy with the witches adds a wee bit of fun that makes the story even better for me. Just tense enough to keep the pages turning, but no gore to keep one up at night. My favourite kind of mystery.

In a vision, Annie sees a woman in trouble, and only Annie can help her, even if it means she has to go back to her home town, somewhere she has been determined to stay away from. She also knows if she ignores this vision, she would never forgive herself.

Dessie is stuck in her past. On her honeymoon 10 years ago, her husband went missing and the police got nowhere in trying to find him. Determined to do everything she can, she buys a B&B in the village, and becomes obsessed with what happened. When another young man goes missing in very similar circumstances, she can’t help, but believe it’s connected to her own tragedy.

I was slightly confused at the start when Annie is having a vision of Dessies double, that means she’s in trouble. There was little explanation of who Dessie is, how Annie knows her or why Annie needs to drop everything to go home.I also expected more about the Witch Club, but the main story is Dessies. However, as a murder mystery it’s an interesting storyline, but one I had trouble keeping interested in. I really wanted to read a cozy witchy story, so was a bit disappointed with this. Not quite the book for me.

Felicity Green's 'The Witch Club' is a fascinating journey through a quaint village filled with mysteries and magic. The characters, like Andie and Fiona in the witch club with different and special powers are interesting& feel real and easy to relate to. The story keeps you hooked with surprising twists and turns that make you want to keep reading.

What I liked most is how the friendships in the story is portrayed—they're strong and supportive (Fiona ), which adds a lot of depth. It's not just about magic; it's also about the bonds between people and discovering different faces of people .the sudden turn in Grayson's part was breathtaking . The splendid bursts of emotions ,all twists and turns and how well the plots were stringed together was fabulous.

The blurb and title of this book are very misleading. Had very little to do with witches. Also, it was not her new employee who believed her, it was her guest; nor was it a groom who goes missing. The couple is not even married. I was left very confused at times. Each chapter went back and forth between Dessie, the B&B owner, and Andie, her employee, but Dessie had a little more depth in her chapters. I wish there was more of Andie. I could not stand Dessie. She was selfish, immature, naive, and straight up ignorant. There were many times I found myself wanting to shout out "shut up and just let them speak". She kept jumping to conclusions without asking questions, or listening to anyone's explanations. The writing wasn't very good either. It was very wordy, and I found myself rereading the same paragraph(s) a few times because I kept getting distracted or zoning out. It also read like a children's book in some places. The language of it, and how it's said. It was really hard to get through this book. Curiosity and my summer reading program are the only reasons I kept reading. Hopefully the next few books get better.

Scottish Witches Mystery: The Witch Club by Felicity Green is a captivating book that takes readers to the Scottish Highlands, where magic, secrets, and mystery come together in an engaging story. The story follows Andie, a young woman with the special ability to have visions. After a chilling dream about an old acquaintance, Dessie McKendrick, Andie returns to her hometown of Tarbet. As she digs deeper into the strange events surrounding Dessie, Andie unfolds long-buried secrets.

From the very first sentence, I loved reading this book. Green has the ability to let the reader know things that the characters still haven't seen or realized. The characters in The Witch Club are well-developed and multi-dimensional, each with their own secrets and motives. The interactions between the characters are charged with intrigue, and their relationships are nuanced and realistic.

One of the strongest aspects of the novel is its pacing. Green masterfully balances moments of intense action with quieter, more introspective scenes. The story is full of twists and turns, and I could not put the book down. I heartily recommend this book to anyone looking for a captivating reading experience.

Dessie McKendrick is obsessed. She was young when she married and gave up a future as an performer. On her honeymoon her husband disappears. Ten years later she is still trying to find out what happened to him. Then one night four young people arrive in a rainstorm but she only has room for two. The other two go on to another cottage. The next morning the young man vanishes. Now she is on a quest to find out if it related to her husband's disappearance.
Andi is a young woman with a gift. She sees things in her sleep. She sees something in her dream and knows she has to go to the woman she's seen and help her. But now things are getting a little too complicated. Dessie finds her and several other women in the woods doing some type of ritual. But the police won't take her seriously. Every time Andi tries to help or talk to her, one of her guest, a nice looking man, gets in her way.
Clues aren't adding up and Andi is worried something is going to happen to Dessi.
Will she put the puzzle pieces together in time?
A fantastic story that takes the reader on a voyage of intrigue and danger.

UGH this was a pain to get through. None of the characters are likeable (except the detective, who doesn't honestly count) and none of them particularly like each other, to the point where you start wondering why they even stay as part of the same group.

Dessie is incredibly weak, gullible, and spineless, bending every which way depending on who she interacts with (especially men, whew, if it's a man, you best believe she'll make excuses for anything he does just because).

Andie is catty and prejudiced and manages to botch up the simplest of things.

Grayson is a caricature villain.

None of the above is really convincing for a story, and while the idea itself - a con man conning his partner and then the aftermath investigation - has a solid foundation, it unfortunately gets overshadowed by shallow characterization and just a general meanness that prevents you from rooting for any character.

I signed up for the other books as well so I'll finish them, but sadly can't recommend this.

Dessie and her new husband were hiking the Scottish Highlands for their honeymoon. While staying in a B&B, one morning she woke up and he was gone. She never gave up trying to find him or find out what had happened, in spite of the impatience and scarcely concealed ridicule of the local police. A decade later it happened again. A man went missing from a shared bed and the woman (and everyone else) had no clue. Although Dessie felt vindicated, she also felt slightly hysterical and feared that the police would not take her seriously. Especially when she pointed the finger at a local group of women who pretended to be an historical group but were really a coven. Or were they? Somehow they were involved in the disappearances, but how?

This is the first book in a series. I have already read a later book. Still, I really enojoyed this book. To me that is the sign of a good series.

Recommended.

Hum.. seems Andie has dreams that warn her of future happenings. Her latest dream takes her to her hometown of Tarbaret. A town that may be isolated, but, embedded in the middle of an extensive and popular long distance trail. Dessi is the mystery woman of Andies latest dream and a part of the mystery Andi has to solve. Dessi runs a B&B and has done so since her newly wed husband mysteriously dissapears. One rainy night 2 couples are in need of a room. Dessi only has room for one couple and is forced to give the second couple of a little known B&B. The young man vanishes, just like Dessi's husband. What is going on in this small town with many secrets and unanswered questions? Will Andie help Dessi thru her dreams? Will the mystery of 2 men on the same night 10 years apart vanishing? You will need to dive into the wonderful page turner that Ms. Green has woven.

Oh WOW this was a great book. It was a page turner and the suspense was OMG. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn't even imagine of put it down. The mystery was a shocker of action packed of drama madness. Having visions were not new to Andie but as she dreams of Dessie McKendrick showing that she needs help she is worried enough that instead of going on with her studies, Andie decide to returns to her hometown of Tarbet as she got a job working for Dessie’s B&B and never thought of letting herself know that Andie was worried about her. As Dessie's had disappear after these years since her husband where no where to be find throughout this drama.
I highly recommend this book and you won't be disappointed. I received advance copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest review. Trina Jones

What a fabulous story! I found it hard to put down. Ironically, I only discovered this series part way through and, with exception of the latest one, have read them completely out of sequence. None of this has detracted from my enjoyment of Felicity Green’s skill in developing a fast moving plot and creating wonderful characters. It gave me a bit of closure to learn of Dessie’s past and how she had been so badly manipulated by those she thought had loved her. I, also, learned about how she met Declan and why she decided to stay in Tarbet. Felicity Green hands both Dessie and Andie the reins in telling this story, with Andre’s visions being the springboard into the events in Dessie’s life. Now that I feel totally clued in to all that has happened, I can hardly wait for the next in the series. I’m counting the days!

Dessie and Conner are in Scotland on their honeymoon. With it raining so hard they can't set up their tent, they go to a B&B and rent a room. When Dessie wakes up in the morning her husband is gone without a trace. She stays in the town of Tarbet, only leaving to empty her new husband apartment. During the 10 years she is there she buys a B&B with her inheritance from her father. She's stays to herself mostly, not making any friends, and continues to investigate her husbands disappearance even when the police have stopped. When another man disappears she thinks it's the break she needed for the police to reopen her husbands case, but things aren't what she thinks and her life takes a turn when she begins to believe a women's club had a part in his disappearance.
This book was full of twists and turns. I really enjoyed it.

THE WITCH CLUB is set in the Scottish Highlands complete with the awe inspiring terrain and the customs that have carried on through the centuries. I felt the author did an excellent job weaving those into the story.

This book delivers a solid story. The reason I didn’t rate it higher was the fact that over half way through the book, I still wasn’t sure just who the main character. And by the end, I know much more about someone she was protecting than the heroine and her friends. Because of this, I am not drawn to continue on with the series.

That being said, this book might appeal to those who enjoy a touch of magic with their mysteries. There is some violence though nothing too bloody and there is no sex.
