L’ex paracadutista dell’aeronautica, Jeremy O’Brien, è abituato a eseguire ordini senza fare domande.

Jeremy's assignment is finding a young missing man who was badly abused in his teens and vanished from sight after barely surviving the last attack.

Not 100% sure he found the right guy when he ran into a young man with familiar beautiful eyes in a diner, he takes a maintenance job at a nearby lake to get to know the mysterious and quiet Zach.

Their friends to lovers story is very sweet and it's heartwarming to see the shy and haunted Zach develop feelings for the considerate Jeremy.

The ending was a bit underwhelming and way too sugary for my liking. Not to mention that apparently everyone in this story is gay, which takes away from a believable story.

Also, the father character was such a demonic monster, I couldn't help wondering what drove him to such extreme evilness.

All in all a solid story with a bit too much romance perfection to force a happy ending.

This is my first book of Annabella Michaels and I'm glad I decided to give this a try. This is a new series and it seems like is a spin off from her Souls of Chicago series.

In the beginning, I'm intrigued with the mystery surrounding Zane, the person that Jeremy was assigned to look for. I was anticipating a mystery/suspense story, but that isn't the case here. After meeting Zach, who Jeremy believes might be Zane, a big chunk of the story is about how Jeremy's effort to befriend Zach in order to confirm his identity.

Honestly, Jeremy isn't much of an effective investigator, he seems to let his attraction to Zach deviates him from his real purpose. Haha. I totally don't blame him at all and I think their friendship is something really genuine and heartfelt. Zach is someone who had dealt with a hard life as a youngster, he deserve a friend and someone to love him. But one thing that keep niggling at the back of my mind was that Jeremy didn't come clean even when things turn sexual between them. I just knew it would blow up in his face eventually.

The story was rather on a slow pace and I did appreciate the naturally development of their relationship that took its time. I keep wondering what was the real reason behind the assignment. Why are they looking for Zach after all these year? However, during the recounting of Zach's ordeal, there was a scene that clue me right in. So when the big surprise was finally reveal towards the end, it isn't a surprise for me. I feel that it should be more complicated and convoluted. Overall, despite the predictable ending, the romance between Zach and Jeremy was worth the read.

I really enjoyed this book, and all the other ones I've read by this author. However, there were a couple things about this book that bothered me too much to rate it higher. Jeremy was sent by his boss/friend at his security firm to find Zane. He was sent off with no information, but a medical file and some old pictures. How do you send a member of an ELITE security team with no information out to find someone!? Jeremy didn't even know if this person was a criminal wanted on charges. That to me in essence is a security problem. You are sending your friend to be possibly hurt. Isn't having the most information the beginning of a search pretty standard and necessary!? Possible SPOILER alert...

He could've at least been told it was a member of the family searching for Zane. Someone who didn't want to hurt him. All the misunderstandings would've been avoided, and his reunion with said family member could've happened sooner. Also, who paid all the medical bills? Zane was in the hospital for a month with terrible injuries, and he had to have multiple reconstructive surgeries. I'm pretty sure the hospital still expects the bills paid regardless of the circumstances. Maybe I'm being a little too picky, but it really bothered me. I did enjoy revisiting with old characters, and I was happy to see someone from one of the other books get reunited with Zane. I don't think that's too much of a spoiler for anyone who has read the other books.

Jeremy finds his man, and more....
This series is a splinter from the “Souls” tales, that I loved. Here we have scarred and tortured soul, Zach/Zane, 25, seven years after that horrendous night at home, that still haunts him. He’s missed his brother the most, but not his father. He is working at a secluded Lake resort, finding his much needed peace and quiet.
Jeremy, a 30s ginger, a former 12 year Air Force "pararescueman," has joined Hamilton Security, as he works for Micah, and his assignment is to find Zane and bring him to Chicago.
His search has taken months, and luck finds him at the Lake, where he begins working with “Zach.”

He plans to get to know the man, and see if he is really Zane. Falling for the guy wasn’t in the plan, but destiny has intervened.

Zach and Jeremy become fast friends, working hard, getting to learn about each other, and we get their scorching hot sex scenes and deep passion that overwhelms them both.
The culmination of the story is marvelous, with the identification of the person who wanted to find Zane.
Magnificent. Worthwhile. Heart-wrenching and heartwarming, as well.
A fantastic epilogue.
Enjoy !

Full review to come tomorrow.

This is the first in a new series which is an offshoot of Annabella's Souls of Chicago series and it's focusing on Micah Hamilton's security agency (Landon Greene's husband and subject of Book 3 Protecting the Soul and it directly ties into book 5 in the series Uniting the Souls as it focuses on the search for Isaac's missing brother Zane.

I liked this a lot, it was missing the overly dramatic elements which can sometimes pull down a plot narrative and instead, all the tensions were caused by believable issues of trust being damaged due to secrets being hidden (for perfectly valid reasons) for too long.

The relationship between Jeremy and Zach (aka Zane in hiding) was well developed and took a nice slow burn as they slowly got to know each other - even if Jeremy's reasons for trying to find out if Zach was Zane weren't revealed until the plot needed some tensions.

Overall this is really nice read, it's a sweet romance between two people who on paper shouldn't work but do. Jeremy is searching for the same happiness he sees in his friends who've settled down and Zane has been closed off because of his fears and past trauma for so long.

There is a really lovely ending and I truly believed in this couple's life long happiness. Great start to this new series.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.25 stars

This book reeled me in from chapter one—such a great feeling. The prologue introduces us to Zane as he is recovering and then leaving the hospital. But then he gets dealt one last devastating blow and takes off. His injuries are fairly well catalogued, although there is no on page violence, and I was intrigued as to what his story would reveal. Seven years pass and Zane, who now goes by Zach, is living in a small cabin and working at a tourist lake. He’s close to his boss, who is a mother figure to him, but he keeps himself fairly isolated and his past locked down tight. He’s not all pleased that he has to train the new guy and he just hopes the guy won’t talk too much.

Jeremy was put on a mission to find Zane. He has limited information, but he trusts his boss Micah. At first, Jeremy approaches this job like all the others, but the others didn’t have Zane in his sights. A good portion of this book is character driven as well as relationship driven as Jeremy and Zane develop a friendship and then come to love and rely on each other. There are looks and lingering glances as a slow burn develops between the men. Zane is always cautious and has never had any kind of long-term lasting relationship and Jeremy knows he has to tell Zane exactly why he was there to begin with. Although Jeremy doesn’t know all the details about Zane and was just given the assignment to find him, it’s never suggested that Jeremy or Micah are trying to harm Zane in any way, but you know eventually the truth will come out. The guys grow extremely close and their relationship is full of heat, longing, and finding a sense of peace when they are together.

I enjoyed this story. While there was trauma & abuse, there was an underlying message of trust & love. It was a little predictable, but sweet all the same 😊

This was a much sweeter story than I was expecting. The blurb pretty much tells you what’s going on here with Jeremy on a case/mission to locate Zane. He’s been trying to track him down for a while but doesn’t have much to go on or even why he is being looked for. While following a lead, he ends up seeing a man who could possibly be Zane, but further investigation is inconclusive. He decides to get closer to the man going by Zach in order to verify his identity, and if it is Zane, bring him back to Chicago per his boss’ instructions.

Much of this story is about Jeremy trying to get closer to Zach/Zane in hopes he will learn something to prove his identity as Zane. It quickly becomes clear there is a lot to Zach’s story. He clearly has some major trust issues and scars that speak of a bad past. But what Jeremy isn’t counting on is how he quickly starts to feel for Zach. Earning his trust becomes much more important on a personal level than for the job and that ends up taking over Jeremy’s intentions. He decides to wait until he learns more before revealing his own secret and reason for being there.

Of course, it is somewhat predictable that keeping that secret will blow up at some point, but it was easy to see how Jeremy was caught up with his feelings for Zach and then his wanting to protect him. I really enjoyed their time of getting to know one another and watching their friendship grow. The mystery of who was looking for Zach wasn’t too major, but it added a touch of anticipation.

This story moves along at a steady pace with the end wrapping everything up nicely without too much angst, even given the reasons for everything. It was really nice to see Zach find happiness again. This was my first book by this author, and I’m definitely interested in reading more and look forward to the next installment of this new series.

I hadn’t read this author before and since I’m a sucker for former military and security/bodyguard characters, this sounded like a good choice. It offered a decent hurt/comfort trope and a bit of mystery, with the main focus on Jeremy and Zane’s slow-growing romance. There’s quite a bit of page time used to show their interactions, however I think a little less mundane detail and more development of plot might have served better. Zane and Jeremy had a fair amount of background written in, but weren't complex characters. Secondary figures are mostly those that appeared in another series, but this stood alone well enough. Readers of the previous series will connect, I’m sure, or even have some idea of the mysterious client behind the search for Zane.

I always enjoy getting POV’s from each main character but I wasn’t a fan of using first person for it, in this case. Stylistically, the “voice” that Jeremy and Zane each used in their dialogue didn’t always come through as natural, plus narrative prose often bordered on purple, and a little saccharine. It really kept me from feeling much chemistry or sexual tension between the two men. I completely skimmed the sex scenes later in the story because they didn’t seem to fit the mood that was created. The plot also seemed to cut a few corners in regards to Zane’s history. None are major issues but collectively they dragged the story down for me. It’s not a bad story by any means, but not as engaging as I could have wished. I’d recommend it in for the moderate angst, sweet romantic content and mild suspense.

I liked it. A little wordy and repetitive. Also, Jeremy irritated me because although Micah didn't originally give him a lot of information...he could have asked a few questions,....

So much of the anxiety over the secretive plot was unnecessary and just there for angsty introspection and drama.

Well well well! Let's talk about this book! I read all of Annabella Michaels' Souls of Chicago series and was super eager for book one in her new series Hamilton's Heroes, Found. The reason being, the way the last book in her series ended.

To make something clear, you do not have to have read Uniting the Souls or any of the Souls of Chicago books to read Found. Annabella Michaels writes it in a way that you aren't left feeling like you missed something.

Found is the story of Zane. To anyone who read Uniting the Souls you know who that is. To those who haven't, well you're in for a treat. I have been dying for this book. I practically stalked the author waiting for it. Now understand something, and I feel it's worth mentioning. There are some tough patches in this book to read. Physical abuse, not off page. It's in flashbacks. So do heed that warning. The author does warn readers in advance which I commend. And while it was hard to read it was powerful, emotional, and gripping.

Jeremy is the other MC in this book and can I just say, I wasn't sure the author would be able to write another half for Zane who was worthy... I was wrong. Jeremy is perfect for him. He has his own sadness but nothing like Zane's and who Zane needs in his life is someone like Jeremy. He's so fabulous I adored him from beginning to end.

I can't wait to see which guy gets the next story but I can say this author wrote a beautiful story with amazing emotional suspense. Definitely read this!

Cant believe it's Annabella's book! That's the only reason I did not give a two star.
It was very very slow.
I follow her books and I could easily relate who Zane was & how he is related to the previous series. It just felt like a foolish reason (which is mentioned in the end) for Mitch not knowing the whole mission & on top of that sending his trusted brother-in-arms on it. The whole confusion in the second half just felt a bit dramatic.
Overall, just wanted to skip the book but I'm a fan of Annabella's book!! :( Sadly disappointed

Beautiful Start

This is a wonderfully, sensitively developed romance between two opposites who are each running from something in their lives but both desperately searching for love and stability. I am going to be very brief here because providing details about the plot line will not do justice to the way author Annabella Michaels develops the characters of Jeremy and Zane whichm despite a really strong story, is the whole shebang for me.

Along the way, however, you will meet a slew of finely developed characters including one whom you would not expect to be the subject of the sequel. That's for another day, and another review, but in the meanwhile get this one, it's a beautiful start to what will hopefully be a long and beautiful series.

Disappointing

I know lots of people will love this story, so here's my unpopular opinion. I found it to be boring and unoriginal. It's like a story version of paint by numbers. I ended up skimming much of the narrative and the seks scenes because it's like 10 other stories I've read already.

I love slow burn romance. Coupled with a character who learns to slowly allow someone into their life again who they care and develop feelings for…it makes that slow burn even more sweet and poignant. Add in secrets being kept on both sides where you know they’ll cause an issue down the line, and it ramps up the tension a bit since you have no idea how the characters will react. All of these things contributed to this story being one I did not want to put down once I got started.

It’s impossible not to feel for Zane with all that he’s been through and everything he’s lost. He’s a truly good man, and I only wanted to see him get a happy ending. Jeremy is also a good man—though once his secret comes out, it’s quite possible that Zane might not see him that way. As the two slowly become friends and eventually their relationship grows into something so much deeper, I kept waiting for the inevitable—the reveal of both of their secrets—and the possible ensuing heartbreak on both sides. It worried me while reading since the two of them together felt so right, so comfortable, and most importantly they made each other happy.

I’ll admit that once Zane started to reveal the events of his past, there’s was one point of his story at which I figured out what Jeremy’s secret was (even though Jeremy himself did not know the details). Even so, I was still completely immersed in his and Zane’s relationship all the way to the end. It felt genuine and progressed slow enough for them to make the transition from co-workers to friends to everything more.

4.5 stars for Found, a wonderfully emotional love story and journey of healing for Zane that only Jeremy could help him traverse. I’d definitely recommend this to any M/M romance fan. This book is for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.

This was disappointing - I read up to 88% and then called it quits.

The book centers around Zane, a lake hand who ran away as a teen to escape an abusive father, and Jeremy, a former pararescueman who works for a private security firm. Jeremy was hired to find Zane and bring him back to Chicago, but once he finds Zane, he falls in love.

I had a hard time staying interested - Zane and Jeremy seemed two dimensional. Instead of demonstrating depth through the characters’ actions, the author tells the reader what Zane and Jeremy are like and expects you to just believe it. Zane went on about how funny and intelligent Jeremy was and how much he makes him laugh, but Jeremy didn’t say anything particularly funny or intelligent. And Jeremy fell instantly in love with Zach, but you never really see why. He gushed that Zane is the kindest, gentlest most caring person he’s ever met, but every interaction they had was fairly run of the mill. And there was a lot of filling us in on melodramatic back stories - half the book seemed to be focused on Zane’s sad history.

This plot was also very predictable - I knew from the first few chapters what was going to happen at the end. There wasn’t any tension or edge, the characters said and did exactly what a good character would do, and not a single person in the book had the slightest vice- everyone was perfect. Even the sex scenes were perfectly scripted.

I’m sorry to be in the minority on this one!

This was just okay for me. I liked Jeremy and Zach, but something felt too sugary for me given the storyline. I wanted more from both characters. I also LOVED Edith. I honestly don't think this series is going to work for me if it's so sugary sweet. Also, kind of unbelievable when every single male character is gay. Like why?

Wow all of the high ratings make me feel like a complete jerk with what I'm about to say. I was really enjoying this story and was thinking it was a 4 star read until I reached around chapter 15 and frankly it all fell apart for me. I even wondered if someone else had written the last 35% it felt so different. Suddenly the dialogue felt unnatural--people don't talk like that, especially 25 year old men. There were constant tears from just about all of the characters mixed in with simpering, adoring looks shared by the couples introduced and it all just felt incredibly cheesy. I read M/M because I am interested in the male POV and the dynamics that surround gay relationships (and yes the sex scenes are hot) and I intensely dislike it when I start to feel like I'm reading thinly disguised M/F romance with the only difference being genitalia! I went from a solid 4 stars to almost dnf'ing but believe me I'm being kind by giving this 3 stars.

The story of these two men really draws you in, the link to the previous series lets you keep track and updates you on what is happening in the Greens lives. But what I liked the most was how authentic the story was in dealing with the issues of abuse and how this impacted not only Zach/Zane but on Jeremy too. if you want your heart ripped out them put back together this book is for you

Found by Annabella Michaels is exactly the type of story I love to read. Althought I’m always curious about new to me authors, I was a little afraid when I started this novel, since the last new to me authors I read lately delivered very poor books. From the beginning I understood Found was going to be a winner. I was pleasurable surprised by the writing, engaging and well done, it sucked me into the story and it made the reading easy. I literally couldn’t put the story down for a minute.

The main reason why I loved it so much lays in the characters, I adored them till the end, they were what I look for in my romances. Zane with hiis hurting past, scared in the heart and in the face, with his guard always on. Nonethless when Zane and Jeremy met, something happens. I liked how Zane and Jeremy knew their feelings and overcame the misunderstanding (let’s call it like this, I don’t want to share too many details) like the adult and smart persons they are. The feeling they shared were clear and pure, I felt their hearts, I saw how good they were, not just together, but in their jobs and with their friends and coworkers. I was soon caught in the novel and it actually didn’t happen from some time, but I stayed up till morning to finish it.

I have to say the plot was what I was expecting and this is the only reason why this is not a five stars review. I saw the surprise element coming a mile away, still that part was so emotional I obviously shed a couple of tears.

Found is the first book in the Hamilton’s Heroes series, I can’t wait for more. And since this was the first novel I read from Annabella Michaels, I had a look at her previous works and discovered this new release is connected to (at least) one book in her other series Souls of Chicago, I have to read it now!
