About the author

Lauren Magaziner is the internationally bestselling author of four series: This Book Is Trying to Kill You, The Incorruptibles, Case Closed, and The Mythics. She is also the author of three stand-alone middle grade books: The Only Thing Worse Than Witches, Pilfer Academy, and Wizardmatch.

Lauren grew up in New Hope, Pennsylvania. After receiving a B.A. in Creative Writing and Philosophy at Hamilton College, Lauren Magaziner worked on two delightful Scholastic magazines, where many of her coworkers didn’t believe her last name was real. What an adventure!!! I loved Hailey so much. She is fearless and brave and throws herself into the world, even if it does feel a little lonely at times. But she's sure that if she can just keep pushing and get her Mythie, she can save the day. Her way. I loved watching her grow and learn. And I loved the illustrations!

I loved the second book in this series! I’m really enjoying the found family element of the five girls learning about each other and helping each other become their best selves. And, of course, there is a healthy dose of Lauren Magaziner’s signature humor and whimsy!

Петте момичета продължават приключението си за намиране на митичните си фамилияри, тук в тази втора част Марина вече си е със своя - Кракен, Ембър се слива с прицата Феникс, но Хейли продължава да търси къде й какъв е нейния фамилияр. Разбира се г-жа Златен гащеризон продължава да ги преследва и да ги поставя в беди и точно в тези моменти на Хейли и е много трудно да разбере, че ама на кого да разчита, че не е сама и са отбор.

Дали ще успее да намери своя фамилияр - Дракон, ще успеят ли момичетата да я убедят, че може да им се довери и искането на помощ не е грешно...
Историята се чете много бързо, буквално за ден, както казах не е просто поредната детска/юношеска история, а такава изпълнена с поука и намирането на истински приятели и митични приключения.

This is a good series for 3rd-4th graders. The main character Hailey is brave and adventurous, but doesn't know how to rely on others. It's nice to see a flawed protagonist like this, even if she did get on my nerves a little. I loved the concept of people having animal familiars! That part reminded me of the golden compass, but this was definitely a much easier read. The magic in the book was really cool and it had the positive theme of teamwork throughout. Not the most well written ever, but fun and I would definitely recommend it to kids.

The diversity of both the appearances and personalities of the characters ensures everyone can see themself in someone. And I think that can go a long way for the targeted readers who might not always be sure of themselves.

I was a little sad that Ember got her mythic in this book and didn’t get her own story.

Hailey is headstrong and impulsive. She has always felt like the odd one out in her family. Can she find her place with her Mythic friends?
Love the girls supporting each other and leaning from one another. Hailey shows real growth and more of the mystery of the golden lady are revealed. I feel like Ember got shortchanged. Look forward to reading more about her.
