This is book 2 of the Security Hounds series. Mentink sends us back again to Whisper Valley, a northern Californian town where we meet another Wolfe sibling, this time Garrett, and his canine bloodhound, Pinkerton.
When Garrett bumps into Molly, she’s on the run from Porter Stone, the man incarcerated for her father’s murder. Porter has escaped during a prison transport. I love the interaction between Garrett and Molly, the focus on reclaiming the lost and the need for forgiveness, and the reminder that we’re all works in progress.
I smiled at Mentink’s infusion of humour in the stressful moments, at the vision of God not being a cosmic vending machine and at most of Pinkerton’s moves!
I’ll remember this book for Mentink’s reminder that we need to trust more and act like it; God forgives so we needn’t dwell on our mistakes. It shows that we don’t trust in his ability enough.
Dana Mentink always writes dogs with such affection, hilarity and personality, so I’m really enjoying her new series about search & security dogs. Okay, well, technically the series is about a family who has recently launched an investigations company that utilizes the search & security dogs they train…. but I’m sure Wally (from book one) and Pinkerton (from Fugitive Search) would happily tell you that they are the real stars of these stories. Pinky is an endearing, slobbery, affectionate tracking dog who steals every scene he’s in, and I delightedly let him. I especially loved his loyalty to and love for his human, Garrett, and his easy relationship with Catherine right from the beginning (Pinky’s, not Garrett’s because Garrett & Catherine’s relationship is pretty complicated). Pinky seemed to know that Catherine should be Garrett’s person, and this lovable pooch decided he’d go ahead and adopt her too. All the cuteness and sweetness you’re imagining right now… it’s there, in Fugitive Search!
But Fugitive Search is first and foremost a riveting, high-stakes romantic suspense novel, and Mentink doesn’t let us forget that with a heart-in-your-throat combination of danger, mystery, action, surprises, and some thriller vibes too. (Pinky is right there in the midst of it all, of course, as Garrett’s K-9 partner, providing humorous moments and sweet ones throughout the story.) I especially appreciated the complex layers that were added to both the suspense and the romance from Garrett’s prior role in the investigation into who murdered Catherine’s father. Providing protection for Catherine and her sister – from the escaped prisoner who had finally been arrested for the murder – is easier said than done for a variety of other reasons too, and Mentink does a phenomenal job of keeping the tension crackling from beginning to end. Speaking of crackling, the romance delivers a heart-satisfying blend of sparks and tenderness, along with a few potholes on the trail to happily-ever-after.
Bottom Line: Fugitive Search by Dana Mentink has it all – witty humor, gentle romance, meaningful faith, riveting suspense, relatable characters, and smart, quirky dogs. I loved all the different layers to this story, and more than one stunning twist drove me to keep reading ‘just one more chapter’ until I reached the end. Every time I thought, “Ok, I can pause here and go to sleep… NOPE. Mentink threw another curveball that kept me glued to the pages, and I enjoyed every sleepless minute of it! I love everything that Dana Mentink writes, but I think this Security Hounds Investigations series is my favorite yet. Cannot wait for Stephanie’s story coming in December (is it December yet?!?)
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
From start to finish, this suspense novel takes readers on a wild ride. Danger lurks for two sisters whose father was killed ten years prior. The Security Hounds team helps in the hunt to apprehend the escaped felon and protects the women¬¬—you have to love the dogs. Twists and surprises abound as the story unfolds and keeps readers wondering what is true and what will happen next. I didn’t see the revelation coming at all. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
“Despair clawed at the edges of her mind. Her father was dead. Her sister and uncle, gone. And now Stone would have her too.”
My emotions are a whirling mess after reading Fugitive Search by Dana Mentink. I enjoy romantic suspense, especially clean and faith-based novels. Add in canines, and a book has a good start. Mentink takes us on a see-saw of emotions as we identify with her relatable characters.
Mentink brings us the second of her Security Hounds series. I enjoyed Wally and his handler in the first book. Now we are presented with Garrett Wolfe, and his bloodhound, Pinkerton. Garrett bungled an arrest of murder suspect Porter Stone ten years ago, and it cost him his job with the local police. Now, he is thrown into the awkward position of trying to protect the daughter of the murder victim, who blames him for ten years of living under an assumed alias for safety. Garrett’s inner radar says something isn’t right about this case, but his honesty may cost Security Hounds any chance of keeping Catherine and Antonia Hart safe.
Catherine and her sister have suffered severe trauma. Sometimes I liked Catherine. Like when she begins to trust Garrett, realizing that “Garrett hadn’t taken her father’s life. He was simply the one left on whom she’d hung her burden of anger. Him and God.” Starts to reframe thinking and attitudes. How important it can be to evaluate our attitudes in the light of God’s Word and reframe our thinking!
As Catherine begins to trust Garrett, his underlying suspicions come out and Catherine refuses his and his family’s help once again. Both Catherine and her sister have “Lone Ranger” tendencies, very perilous when trying to escape a dangerous psychopath.
I did love how Catherine challenges Garrett about hiding behind a false personality. “If God loves you, then why do you have to cover up who you are?” Garrett also challenges Catherine. Catherine has turned her back on God, because He didn’t save her father from dying. Garrett explains why that thinking is not valid. “But if we only worshipped a God that gave us what we wanted, He’d be a cosmic vending machine, wouldn’t He? A glorified personal assistant.”
I loved Pinkerton. He is very accepting of Catherine and has a way of comforting her. His tongue seems to be a very notable part of him! He is a great tracker, but also needs a lot of affection.
With plenty of action , the two young people are slowly losing their hearts, yet one pulls back repeatedly. This inflicts emotional damage and possibly leads to many others putting themselves in unnecessary danger. How will this stalking situation end? You will be as surprised as I was when I realized the truth of the situation! Great twists!
I received a copy of the book from Celebrate Lit. I also bought my own copy. No positive opinion was required, and all opinions are my own.

Calling all bloodhound enthusiasts and fans of pulse-pounding suspense! Unleash your inner detective with Dana Mentink's Fugitive Search, the second thrilling entry in the Security Hounds Investigations series. This novel isn't your average whodunit – it's a heart-stopping chase with a courageous heroine, a mysterious fugitive, and a absolutely loveable bloodhound.
Catherine Hart emerges from hiding, tail tucked between her legs, after the murderer of her father is finally apprehended. But just as she starts to sniff out a new life, the unthinkable happens: the killer breaks free and sets his sights on Catherine. Fear not, for private investigator Garrett Wolfe and his trusty bloodhound, Pinkerton (or Pinky for short), are hot on protection and following the trail.
This fast-paced adventure is a labyrinth of twists and turns. With each corner they round, Catherine and Garrett unearth new clues, face perilous dangers, and grapple with their own internal conflicts. Catherine wrestles with the lingering scent of betrayal from a past encounter with Garrett, while Garrett utilizes his unwavering faith as a compass to guide them through the darkness.
Pinky, the scene-stealing bloodhound, isn't just adorable; he's a hero in his own right. His wet nose and keen sense of smell sniff out vital evidence, leaving readers in awe of the incredible bond between human and canine.
Fugitive Search is a wonderful thrilling chase. It's a story about courage, the power of forgiveness, and the unwavering presence of faith even in the face of fear.
So, grab your leash, put your nose to the ground, and get ready for a wild ride with this captivating story!
I received a digital ARC of Fugitive Search via the author and Celebrate Lit Publicity Group. I am not required to write a positive review in any way or for any reason. My honest and unbiased opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on the story’s content ensuring transparency and reliability.
Fugitive Search is such a wonderful second book in the Bloodhound series! I can’t wait for more books to come out! I have thoroughly enjoyed reading both of these books and meeting the characters. Seeing the characters come back from book to book is always fun. And then getting to dig deeper into a new character per book.
Garrett is our main guy in this book. He’s the more serious brother. Life has not exactly been a cup of tea for him. He made some mistakes and now he’s in the family business instead of being a detective like he was.
The family business of dogs that is.
The dogs steal the show. Pinkerton is the dog in this book. He’s fun and he’s amazing. He’s slobbery and a big pile of goo but he’s also going to protect his people and get the bad guy. Who does he get to save? Charlotte needs their help. She’s been hiding out. Her family was threatened. Her father was killed. And the killer was not put behind bars. When he’s finally caught she thinks she can come out of hiding. But he escapes and her family is in danger again.
This is a wonderful fast-paced novel. I could not stop reading. You won’t be able to either. Get ready to start this book and not put it down until the last word. I’m already ready for the next book. Like right now, please! I want to dig deeper into all of the family members and can’t wait to get the next novel.
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. What I think you should know: Fugitive Search by Dana Mentink is the second book in the Security Hounds Investigation Series. It is a contemporary Romantic Suspense set in Northern California. This book features K-9 Handler Garrett Wolfe and his bloodhound Pinky. While this book can be read as a standalone I highly recommend the first book in the series, Tracking the Truth.
What I think about this book: With Dana Mentink you are in for an adventure from the first page to the last, with kidnappings, murders and adorable dogs you never know just what is coming next! Garrett Wolfe, a former cop who is now part of his family’s private investigators business suddenly has to face his past when Catherine Hart returns to Whisper Valley after ten years in hiding due to a police mistake that allowed her father’s killer to escape custody. Garrett is the last person that Catherine would ever want to work with, after he thought the killer wasn’t guilty during the original investigation. Catherine and Garrett have to find a way to work together to save her family . I enjoyed every page of this book and can’t wait to see what Mentink has in store for the Wolfe family!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
Dana Mentink is a whiz at creating compelling suspense with sparks of humour. I often end up laugh/gasping at the same time because she’s that good. Impeccable pacing, great blending of romance and suspense…and that all important mood-lightening humour. All wrapped up in the cozy comfort of a meaningful faith thread. Spectacular!
Oh — and she speaks dog…or maybe she has a canine ghost writer? Because Pinky (officially it’s Pinkerton, but he’s more of a love ’em and lick ’em into submission kinda guy so Pinky suits him best!) anyway, Pinky makes me want to own a bloodhound…slobber and all. A warrior’s heart, a hunter’s snout and as stubborn as they come. What’s not to love?
I was thrilled to find this Love Inspired Suspense has an audible edition. It was a happy day when my preorder came through. Abby Craden does an incredible job narrating this story and I’m looking forward to more LIS books being made available in this format in future months. So excited — I have 29 on preorder already. Mind you, that’s going way into 2025, but it looks like there will be at least two a month from now on. Woohoo!
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Fugitive Search. This is book two in the series Security Hounds Investigations. I'm a big fan of Dana's. I love her work so I was glad to get this book in the mail. I really enjoyed the characters. This story is well-written, action-packed and full of drama. I know you are going to love it.
Catherine Hart has been hiding since her fathers death. When the killer is arrested she returns to her normal life. She is to be hired by Beth Wolfe, of Security Hounds but her son Garrett comes to the meeting instead. A man she remembers well. She ran from the meeting only to be kidnapped.
PI Garrett Wolfe wasn't a cop anymore. He recognized the woman's face but couldn't place her. He didn't know why she ran but for some reason he followed her. Maybe he could figure out who she was. He pulled up to her car at a stop light. Was that a shadow in the back seat? She ran the red light. He followed her, she was in trouble.
A terrifying journey to save the woman, find her kidnapped uncle, and keep her sister into running into the killer. God has a plan for these two, a plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan for peace and not for harm. Give Him your heart time is short.
Fugitive Search by Dana Mentink is a captivating tale. I liked Catherine, Garrett, and Garrett’s tracking dog, Pinkerton (aka Pinky). Garrett has his work cut out for him. He needs to keep Catherine out of the clutches of a determined killer, find her kidnapped uncle, and prevent a madman from capturing Catherine’s sister. I enjoyed the twists, turns, and suspense. There was plenty of action which kept things lively. I liked that Garrett and Catherine would turn to God for guidance and that He protect them. While Fugitive Search is the second book in the Security Hounds Investigation series, it can be read as a standalone. We do get to catch up with the characters from Tracking the Truth including Wally. My favorite character from Fugitive Search was Pinky. I just loved the sweet, slobbery dog who was determined to keep Catherine safe. Fugitive Search addresses the topics of trust, betrayal, and forgiveness. Of course, there is some romance along the way. The danger, suspense, and mystery kept me up late to see how Fugitive Search would turn out. Fugitive Search had a great ending. I cannot wait for Hunted on the Trail.
Christian Fiction if one of my favorite genres. Dana Mentink has become one of my favorite Christian Suspense authors. I have been anxiously awaiting the release of Fugitive Search. It is Book 2 in the Security Hounds Investigation Series. I had the pleasure of reading Book 1 in this series also!
WOW, the storyline is strong and intriguing from the very beginning. Catherine Hart and Garrett Wolfe are the 2 main characters of this story. Catherine is kidnapped by the guy who murdered her father. Garrett Wolfe is a Private Investigator and he, along with his dog, find Catherine and rescue her. They are both now in danger and need to get away from the Fugitive and also rescue her sister and uncle. I really LOVE how well Catherine and Garrett work together to rescue others and themselves. I also LOVE that they rely on God to help them throughout their search. The book has many twists and turns and really made it hard to put the book down. The storyline is one of Mystery, Intrigue, faith and romance! I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys Suspense, Romance and Faith based books! FANTASTIC BOOK!
Fugitive Search is book two in the Security Hounds series that is written by Dana Mentink. I absolutely love the way that this author writes. Her humor and wit always make me chuckle. Catherine Hart is relieved when the man who killed her father is finally arrested. She had her sister lost the father 10 years ago. She feels that it is safe to come out of hiding - but that all changes when she is kidnapped.
Private investigator, Garrett Wolfe and Pinkerton are on the hunt. Thankfully, he gets there in time, but there is someone that does NOT want Catherine back out in the open. Pinkerton. I did not think anyone could top Wally. I don't know how she creates such hysterical dogs, but Ms. Mentink has done it again. Garrett, Catherine and Pinkerton need to stay a few steps ahead and stay alive. There is also the mystery of what happened to Catherine's uncle.
I loved the action and suspense. The author has created some amazing characters. The story flows nicely. Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a cop of this book - all thoughts are my own.
Fugitive Search (Security Hounds Book 2) by Dana Mentink is a work of Christian fiction. Catherine has been hiding from the man who killed her father. But when he is caught, she returns to her uncle and sister. Unfortunately, he escapes and abducts her. Miraculously, Garrett Wolfe and his tracking dog show up just in time to save her. Unfortunately, she prefers not to be saved by the former detective who investigated her father’s murder.
Family drama of numerous types, various dangers, and the guilty party claiming he was innocent made me unable to put this book down. Family ties, faith, prayers, and more fill the pages of this book. I loved seeing where the author would take me next.
This fast-paced novel will keep you reading. As part of the Security Hounds series, I recommend reading the books to get to know the Wolfe family. However, you can also read this book independently if you choose to do so.
So, if you enjoy Christian Fiction, check out Fugitive Search (Security Hounds Book 2) by Dana Mentink.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
Catherine still blames Garrett for letting the man who killed her father get away, so when her uncle is kidnapped and she becomes a target Garrett is determined to do everything he can to help her get to the bottom of things.
An action packed, plot driven read, with high stakes suspense, and compelling protagonists. There was good tension between the characters, and I liked how Catherine came to trust Garrett over the course of the story. Plenty of twists kept me on my toes, and I liked how Garrett has a close relationship with his family, and was patient with Catherine's distrust of him.
A great addition to the series, or a stellar standalone. Engaging suspense, with great tension between the characters. Pinky has great initiative, and I loved how he connects with the people around him, giving them comfort in stressful times. Highly enjoyable adventure from beginning to end!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
In the beginning, this story seemed to begin with a straightforward plot, but it didn’t take long to begin to wonder if everything was really as it seemed. Each character in this book added something valuable to the storyline and it was easy to cheer for the two main characters, Catherine and Garrett. They each had to first reconcile their pasts before they could move forward in faith in their lives. This book is quite a suspenseful page-turner. It was fun wondering what twist the author was going to use next to further the storyline, and there were quite a few of them. There was always something new for Catherine and Garrett to discover as they were in danger.
I always love reading author Dana Mentink’s books because she not only allows the reader to get to know the characters, she also has great timing in introducing the suspenseful elements in a story. I thought this one was one of her best books yet, and I look forward to the next one.
I voluntarily received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.
Filled with action and keeps you guessing until the very end!
Catherine has been hiding for ten years from her father's murderer, Porter, but he has been captured finally so she goes home. Unfortunately, she finds herself abducted by the escaped Porter. Garrett was the cop who had been there when Porter escaped 10 years ago. He and his bloodhound Pinkerton meet Catherine and then save her from Porter. But Porter keeps trying to get her to get to her sister. Can Garrett and Pinkerton keep Catherine safe when she won't trust him?
The pace is breakneck and the tone is intense with an action and character oriented storyline that has no steam except for a few kisses. The characters are vivid and endearing. The Christian ideals are a part of the story, but not the main focus. Forgiveness is a big part if the story though. Read this series in order to get the most out of it. If you like action packed stories with lots of twists and turns, then this is for you! Enjoy!
This is book 2 of the (A Security Hounds Investigation) series. It is a suspenseful story as Catherine comes out of hiding after her father’s murder. There is plenty of suspense as Catherine and her sister try to catch and stop the main suspect Stone and find their uncle who was kidnapped.Because Garrett Wolfe didn’t believe Stone was quilty in the past, the sisters don,t trust him to help them now. This book deals with the issues of trust and betrayal and forgiveness. And since this is a Love Inspired Suspense novel you know that there is romance. Once again, the author has written a book that a reader won’t want to put down until the book is finished and then still want to read more. I really love the quotes and thoughts that the author makes you think about who God is and who he isn’t.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and Celebrated Lit and these opinions are my own.
Catherine and her family have been haunted and stalked by the death of her father and by his murderer for ten long years. Garrett has had guilt for just as long for not believing Catherine and her sister and the suspect's escape under his watch. But now, he has been caught so maybe Catherine and her family can have a normal life. Not so fast.
Catherine is even in more danger now than she knew. Her family having already been ripped to shreds is about to be again. Can she forgive Garrett and let him and his loveable bloodhound help her stay safe and find her family? There is a lot of danger and suspense in this story, not to mention the shocking twists the author takes us down.
I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.
Just when you think you have it all figured out think again as there just might be more surprises to the story. I was looking forward to the second novel in the Security Hounds Investigations and it did not disappoint. I’m clearly in love with these Hounds as they each have their own personality. I love this truth woven into the story, God is worthy of my devotion, not because he answers my prayers the way I want Him to, but because He’s God. Well written fast paced suspense that keeps you reading quickly. The characters are relatable as they are flawed and make mistakes but see their need for faith and forgiveness. This is a family that stands together and seeks to help others with their dogs. I can’t wait for the next adventure in store for them . Pick up a copy and settle in for the duration as you will want to see what occurs next. I received a complimentary copy from CelebrateLit. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
Catherine Hart has spent the last decade hiding under a false identity to evade the man accused of her father’s murder. He should have been behind bars, but former police officer Garrett Wolfe accidentally let him escape from his arraignment. In that same decade, Garrett left the force and joined his family’s business - Security Hounds Investigations. Now, the accused murderer is back and trying to lure Catherine and her sister Antonia out in the open by kidnapping their uncle. Can Garrett and his lovable hound Pinkerton help Catherine find her uncle? Should she let them try? And can she ever trust God again after everything she has gone through?
This was an interesting story and I really liked the various hounds. I would have enjoyed the romance more if Catherine hadn’t been so hard on Garrett. I liked the story well enough that I checked the next one out from the library. I look forward to reading about Stephanie and her hound Chloe. Oh, and Garrett was right about wet hound smell… 😬
This story was captivating! I simply couldn't put it down. The narrative's twists and turns were thoroughly enjoyable as I tried to anticipate the next move of Catherine's father's killer. Catherine discovers the killer has now kidnapped her uncle, and her sister has gone rogue in an attempt to confront the killer alone. In a timely rescue, private investigator Garrett Wolfe and his tracking dog, Pinkerton, prevent Catherine from becoming the next victim. Pinkerton was remarkable; such hounds perform incredibly life-saving tasks. Catherine harbors resentment towards Garrett from their first encounter when he was a law enforcement officer and failed to capture the killer. Now a private investigator, I wondered if Garrett would be more successful in apprehending him. At times, the fugitive's escapes were baffling, which only heightened the suspense. The ending is unforgettable!
Knuckle-gripping suspense at every turn! Catherine Hart is finally relieved when the man who killed their father is arrested finally after years on the run and she was safe to come out of her hiding. However, it was short lived when the man escapes custody again and abducts her. But PI Garrett Wolfe and his tracking dog, Pinkerton follow a hunch something is off and are able to rescue Catherine just in time. Now they must put their past experiences together behind and work together to stay out of the clutches of a killer and his attempts to kidnap Catherine again. As well as find Catherine's kidnapped uncle and stop her sister from walking into a killer's path bent on finding her sister. Can they find answers to the questions arising and stay alive long enough? What a great read! Highly recommend. I sure loved Pinky as much as Wally.
From the get-go this was a page turner. I loved the characters, I felt like if I had been in the same situation I would probably react in a lot of the same ways that Catherine reacted to the different situations and things that were happening throughout the book. I also loved the protectiveness of Garrett, and I loved his graciousness when Catherine would snap at him. I loved how they both turned to God when they needed guidance. Overall, the story was amazing, kept you guessing until the very end. I thoroughly enjoyed every twist and turn that had me turning pages well into the night, but not wanting the story to end. I highly recommend this one!
**I received this book as part of the CelebrateLit blog team. I was not required to write a positive review and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is another action packed novel from Mentink. The suspense just kept coming. The characters are developed well as Mentink includes lots of their troubled thoughts and deliberations. I liked Garrett, the hero, but I had trouble with Catherine. After all she had been through, she seemed quite naive, impulsive and foolish. Her contrasting actions almost gave me emotional whip lash. I would have liked a character a little more settled. Pinkerton, the dog, was a faithful aid to the hero.
There was a surprised twist at the end. We had hints of the outcome but I was still caught not expecting it. A good faith message is included in this novel and the romance is subtle and well done. It is a good novel for lovers of suspense.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Catherine and younger sister Antonia have been running and hiding for ten years. With stolen identities they stay a step or two away from the man that killed their father. Stone catches up with them when they both find themselves back in their home town. Danger seems to lurk everywhere but private investigator Garrett Wolfe and his bloodhound Pinkerton step in. Protecting Catherine becomes more and more difficult but what of Antonia? This chase had danger and intrigue at every turn. I love these types of suspense and murder stories. And wait until you read the end! I was blown away. But please don’t cheat and read the end first, it will take all the fun away. If you love suspense and surprises, this is a must read. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through Celebrate Lit but was not required to write a review.
Catherine and her sister, Antonia, have been in hiding since their father was killed ten years ago. They have new names so no one can find them, especially Porter Stone who escaped custody after being arrested for the murder of their father. Catherine who now goes by Molly has went back to her hometown after hearing that Porter has been caught. She is going for an interview and her sister sends a text saying that Porter has escaped again. She starts to leave and Porter is hiding in the back of her car. From there on out, just within a couple of pages, you will go on a roller coaster of a ride until the very last page. Throw in Garrett Wolfe and his adorable bloodhound, Pinkerton and you have a wonderfully written book. Who else will meet their demise? Grab your copy today to find out what happens.
Fugitive Search is the second book in the Security Hounds Investigations Series. I absolutely love these K-9 stories!! Catherine Hart comes out of hiding after her father's murderer is caught. Unexpectedly he escapes and kidnaps her. Private Investigator Garrett Wolfe and his K-9 Pinkerton aka Pinky are determined to rescue her. I love this exciting, action packed, heart stopping, sitting on the edge of your seat suspense with a bit of mystery. Sometimes things aren't as they seem. Ms. Mentink grabbed my attention from the very beginning of the book till the end. My favorite character was Pinkerton. I can't wait to read more stories in this series!! I couldn't stop reading, I wanted to find out the ending. A must read for sure!! I was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
After 10 long years being in hiding, Catherine Hart got word their father’s killer was arrested. She was finally safe to come back out into the public eye as “Catherine”. Catherine and her sister were force to live out their lives for the last 10 years, as someone else, to try to escape the killer that was hot on their trail at times. The killer quickly escaped the law yet again as he done years prior. This time Private Investigator Garrett and his K9 “Pinkerton” were going to right the wrong and “capture” the guy that had escaped him years ago. He had doubts that this person was the one responsible for Catherine’s father’s death. Start reading today, to find out if Garrett was right about who the killer really was??
I am so happy that I have another book to read from this very gifted author. I love how she mixes flawed characters, suspense and faith . Once again my hero in the story was the bloodhound. There is something about this dog that made me want one of my own. The story has no slow moments and kept me intrigued throughout the book. With twists and surprises the author delivers another top notch story.
The two main characters have history between them that at times lead to misunderstandings and trust issues. I liked how they both were hesitant with each other while allowing their emotions to calm down. I don’t want to give any details because the storyline deserves to be discovered by each reader.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
