The Path To Self-love by Ruby Dhal, is a guided tool for healing your heart and set healthy boundaries, a sanctuary for self discovery and comfort. The book starts with explanation on different topics, catalysts that help us in this and also has some added exercises and journaling prompts.

It helps you understand and maintain boundaries whereas shows you on how to heal from a heartbreak, emotional abuse, deal with grief, etc. Helps you know yourself better and handle the everyday challenges.

It comes with small prompts like doing things which you love — from maybe taking a walk alone to even bigger one like letting go of friendships and people who harm your inner peace and self-esteem. The book is a very step-by-step guided journey on self healing.

This is such a beautiful book—I'm talking about the layout, fonts, and gentle imagery as well as the beautiful message that each paragraph conveys. I love how the author differentiates between easy self-love and tough self-love; I'd never made that distinction before and I've been on my own self-love journey for a few years now :) The writing style is friendly, compassionate, and easy to relate to. The many do-able activities and journaling questions sprinkled throughout the book are relevant, meaningful, and inspiring. I highly recommend this book for anyone interesting in personal growth and living more authentically.

Awesome read! I thought the author did a great job at tackling some sensitive, yet important topics that pertain to self-love growth: boundaries, grief, emotional abuse, trauma, heartbreak, relationships…plus more. What I loved is that the author used personal stories and anecdotes to drive the messages home. It felt relatable in so many ways, and surely helped me recognize and identify a few things in myself.

Book Name- “The Path To Self-love” ❤️🫰🏻
Author- @r.dhalwriter
Publisher- @penguinukbooks
Genre- Motivational Self-Help
.
“Let yourself be fluent in happiness and sunshine. Don’t let the rigidness of life snatch your innocence away. Dance, laugh and be the child that you’re supposed to be. It is not your time to grow up yet. It is not your time.”
This book has now become so close to my heart that it feels like the author has been knowing me since ages and I finally got the courage to read it and adopt it as well. The feelings, anxiety and every other emotions are just too relatable. I genuinely don’t consider this book as a self help book because it consists more than it. It walks besides you like a friend when you read the book, it feels like someone has written it just for you. The journey to self-love is just not so easy but from somewhere we need to start that just for our own self. Self-love is not the only solution to all of your difficulties in life but it gives you the ultimate courage to face them, deal with it and move forward. Self-love boosts you to embrace every shade of life, with all its flaws and keeps you going. It is a change for the good. This book feels like a saviour, a warm hug, a close friend and a guardian. This book includes how to stay away from negativity, anxiety, setting boundaries, heart-break, losing someone special and many more phases of life. There are many exercises and journals to follow which will make it easier to figure out what you actually wish from your life. Healing your heart is not just a story of one day, it’s a process one needs to adopt sincerely to deal with life’s circumstances courageously. Self-love is not being selfish, it’s all about giving importance to your own self like you show towards your closer ones and it is not a crime. This book is necessary to read just for your own sake. READ THIS book, totally an unbiased review I swear.
Thank you so much to the author for sending me this, and boosting me up for doing self-love.

I received this book for free. This does not impact my review in any shape or form.

The Path to Self-Love by Ruby Dhal is a self-help book about bringing comfort to yourself and giving yourself grace despite the little ways the world tries to tear you down. Dhal delves into her past to explain the concept of healing and how discouraging it can be, despite the positivity it can bring to your life. At the end of each chapter, Dhal provides journaling exercises to help readers reflect on their past mistakes.

I remember one client that was breaking down in front of me. She was overwhelmed by her PTSD symptoms and desperately asked if it was ever going to get better. She was in a bunch of online support groups for people who have experienced trauma, and for a while, I didn’t know what to say. Every time she came in it was either someone joking about killing themselves or complaining about how cruel the world can be. At the time, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. I wish I could’ve told her that it was okay and that there was nothing wrong with feeling overwhelmed, and eventually, the feeling would pass. But I didn't have a whole lot of experience. All I could do at the time was listen.

So I appreciate how safe Dhal makes the readers feel just through her tone alone. She addresses the nuances of mending mental and emotional scars and the difficulties that come with it. A lot of what she says endorses practices such as mindfulness and accepting that, sometimes, having a growth mindset isn’t enough to change your situation. One quote that I will always appreciate from Dhal is that “healing won’t act as an anesthetic that makes you numb. Instead, it will bring the pain to you and teach you how to live with it.” Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on who you ask, there is no balm for wounds of the heart. It’s just a matter of building your perseverance enough with loved ones and life to where, while you’re not always happy, you’re okay.

A side note: I love how Dhal incorporates her culture into her lessons and shows how we can abuse ourselves from the most unlikely sources. South and Southeast Asia fat indeed shame people they think are fat because they believe it'll make the person better. The fact that colorism is present in all communities, especially my own, also lends to America’s comfort with racism. It's not a good thing per se, but it's something we all have to acknowledge.

The thoughts Dhal discusses have ties to dialectical behavioral therapy; you can hold two seemingly opposing ideas in your mind and both can be true (i.e. you can heal and hurt simultaneously). Moreover, everyone’s trying the best they can with what they’ve got, even the ones who engage in the aforementioned fat shaming and colorism. It’s what they grew up with, and that, in and of itself, can be a safety mechanism. But one of the most powerful techniques that Dhal implements here is her self-disclosures. She didn’t hold back even though her community may not like it. I hope my loved ones, myself included, can build up to that courage.

If I could go back in time, I would probably give my client this book. But I can’t, so I’ll just recommend it to others who need it.

Reading Ruby Dhal's "The Path to Self-Love: Heal Your Heart, Set Healthy Boundaries & Unlock Your Inner Strength" is like setting out on a healing and self-discovery trip with a wise and caring companion at your side. Author Dhal's sincere attitude to self-love transcends the superficial aspects of conventional self-care. She challenges me to consider what it really means to embrace who I am, let go of things that no longer serve me, and set boundaries that safeguard my mental health. Her personal experiences and wisdom serve as a reminder to me of the value of resiliency and the bravery required to make decisions that respect my development.

The sympathetic, conversational tone of Ruby Dhal's writing is what I value most about this book. Her work softly walks me through the challenges of self-acceptance and healing, much like a nice conversation. Her candor about her personal struggles gives me a sense of validation for my own flawed path. Reflective journaling assignments at the end of each chapter enable me to put her observations into practice. These activities are like tiny, doable steps that invite me to meaningfully incorporate her advice into my life and make the path to self-love feel genuine and attainable.

The book's reassuring message is unaffected by the fact that some ideas are repeated and that some notions seem oversimplified. Although a few little editing mistakes may stand out, they don't detract from the book's overall value. All things considered, The Path to Self-Love is a kind, uplifting manual for anyone wishing to learn more about accepting oneself and discover doable actions that will lead to inner serenity and emotional fortitude.

"A Path to Self-Love" by Ruby Dhal is a poetic and introspective exploration of self-love and personal growth.

The book delves into themes of self-acceptance, healing from past wounds, and building a positive relationship with oneself. Dhal's writing is accessible yet profound, offering both comfort and insight. Each piece invites readers to reflect on their own experiences and to find strength and beauty.

Here are my top 5 lessons from the book that offer numerous insights on personal growth and self-compassion.

Embrace Your Authentic Self: Dhal emphasizes the importance of accepting yourself as you are, rather than striving to meet external expectations. True self-love begins with acknowledging and valuing your unique qualities.

Healing is a Journey: The book underscores that healing from past wounds and emotional pain is a gradual process. It encourages readers to be patient and kind to themselves as they navigate their personal healing journeys.

Self-Compassion is Crucial: Practicing self-compassion is a central theme. Dhal advocates for treating yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would offer a friend, especially during difficult times.

Letting Go of Self-Judgment: Dhal highlights the importance of releasing harsh self-judgment and negative self-talk. By replacing these with positive affirmations and self-support, you can foster a healthier relationship with yourself.

Embracing Imperfection: The book teaches that perfection is an unrealistic standard. Accepting and loving your imperfections can lead to greater self-acceptance and a more fulfilling life.

These lessons combine to create a thoughtful and nurturing guide for anyone seeking to enhance their self-love and personal growth.

Ruby Dhal’s book "The Path to Self-Love" is a touching book for everyone who fails to take care of her/himself. In poems and words, Dhal explains how ‘being your own best friend’ requires acceptance of both the sweet and sour: of establishing boundaries and of rebuilding or recovering after you have been let down, after you have been disappointed or provoked. She has presented empathetic words in form of exercises, journal writing prompts, and reflective sections, which lays a foundation on how to develop a way forward on the journey to healing and strengthened resilience. I stopped listening to music for a few days and interviewed ten women about self-love; she introduces you to the process of self-love as a process of learning, changing, and claiming yourself. The important thing about Dhal’s words is the call to read and act – to place one’s value in oneself to take control of the direction of their health and happiness in pursuit of a better life. This book is a companion for anyone who was in need of comfort, healing, strength and finding out what it means to be alive. Ideal for everyone who wants to improve their connection with themselves and experience a change within.

Ruby Dhal offers a loving path to self-love in "The Path to Self-Love". She takes it to the next level and describes self-loving as not just being health conscious, taking care of oneself, and putting up boundaries; but it involves healing. It sounds almost boastful to say that, through prose, poetry, and commentary, Dhal has largely provided a safe space where readers may consider their path. Her writing prompts and writing exercises make the reader interact with his or her feelings, thereby establishing structures of self-compassion. As for the voice, again Dhal provides the perspective of someone who is afraid, troubled and yet comforting to the people that have problems – they must find strength inside them. Thus this book is a gentle prod that love means happiness and it also means struggle. A book of significance for anyone looking for a way out of a broken love affair or other forms of misfortune, "The Path to Self-Love" helps readers establish meaningful change to bring positivity and self-fulfillment into their lives within the course of self-searching.

The Path to Self-Love* by Ruby Dhal is a thoughtful and heartfelt guide for anyone on a journey of healing and self-discovery. What I loved about this book is how Dhal’s writing combines gentle prose, personal stories, and practical exercises, making the whole idea of self-love feel so real and approachable.

One thing that really made a lasting impression to me was how genuine Dhal’s voice is. You can really feel her honesty and vulnerability, which makes her advice easy to connect with. The book’s mix of relatable stories and reflective exercises is both inspiring and challenging, in a good way. I especially appreciated the emphasis on setting healthy boundaries, which I know many of us struggle with. While the pacing might be a bit slow if you’re looking for quicker guidance, it’s still a comforting and encouraging companion for anyone wanting to rebuild their inner strength and sense of self.

I personally like to read self-help or self-love types of books so I can understand how much different spectrum can be felt by a heartbroken person. These kinds of books are a gem for those who like to understand human psychology as well.
The book was well explained and it was more like a guide to self-help if you are not able to heal from some traumatic experience.
The book is written in such a pattern that at the end of every chapter you will find yourself doing some thinking and analysing yourself.
The most relatable chapter for me in this book was "Healing" because when I was healing from something it took time to heal properly but people around me were not able to understand that and I am glad that the author Ruby in this book has explained it so well. Healing is a journey with bumps on the road but in the end, you accept everything and heal your soul.

**Healing for Heartbreak is the chapter name, which talks about the healing journey.**

This is an empowering guide that encourages readers to embark on a journey of healing, emotional resilience, and self-acceptance. The book is structured into three key sections: healing the heart, setting healthy boundaries, and unlocking inner strength.
A central theme is the importance of setting healthy boundaries, which Dhal argues is essential for self-respect and emotional well-being.
The book also features poetic prose, with each chapter starting with a well-crafted poem, enhancing the reading experience.

Throughout the book the author includes exercises that promote introspection, such as journaling and mindfulness, providing actionable tools for developing self-love. While some may find the sentimental tone less appealing, the book is nonetheless a heartfelt journey toward self-acceptance. This is an insightful and practical guide for anyone looking to cultivate a healthier relationship with themselves, emphasizing that self-love is an ongoing journey.
