Lightcrest Pack #1

The Lightcrest Contract

Rate this book
After my parents died, I was left with more than just an empty house, lawyer fees, and crippling debt. I was also the CEO of a company I had no idea how to manage.

The Lightcrest Pack depended on Gray-Foster Shipping to keep the flow of luxury goods coming into the city. But I had no idea how to manage any of that, and my father’s business contacts won’t speak with an omega…

With no Pack ties to protect me, and no Alpha to speak to me—I was lost.

When Skye Lightcrest, the alpha CEO of Lightcrest Holdings and the head of the Pack has an offer for me—an offer I can’t refuse. An offer that will bind me to the Pack in more ways than I want to admit.

There are other things I don’t want to admit—like the way I crave Skye’s touch, and how I dream about how she’ll claim me. But I have a legacy to protect; and no matter how much I want to give in, I won’t let anything break me.

I think 2 stars was generous but this is a guilty pleasure read. I enjoyed the plot and the smut but it did read like a bad fanfic.

The sentence structure was so repetitive. The grammar was all over the place and there were glaring errors like random speech marks after non-speech text. There was also a lot of accidental pronoun alterations to ‘him’ instead of ‘her’ which makes me wonder if it was initially drafted as a MLW work and was altered to a WLW one.

The story was solid but JEEZ did it need even a basic edit. It reads like a draft that was never read back over.

Saying that, I hate to admit it but I still enjoyed this???? Maybe I’m still hungover from eating too much at Christmas.

Hot alpha ice queen? Left no crumbs.

I will say this won’t be for everyone, it does read as more dub-con almost non con leaning at times and I would mark it as a captive/dark romance.

Rep// sapphic/wlw central romance.

TW’s listed below, please skip if you don’t want spoilers.

TW// death of parents (past), murder, brief gore, dub con contractual themes, explicit sex scenes.

CW//Spice// dubious consent/ kissing scenes that leaned towards non con, praise kink, alpha/omega dynamics, toy use (strapless strap), oral and fingering, power imbalance (wealth and status.)

Very Quick Read!

This was a good quick read. Things happened very fast due to its shortness which was expected and pleasant to read. I liked the storyline/premise and the characters. There definitely could be more to the story, to see how Madeline could grow in her business knowledge and be a part of her family’s company. To be successful and happy. Maybe with an epilogue? Worth the read if interested in this type of story.

Lower rating is due to the male pronouns often in place that just threw me off. Also a character had two names? Repeatedly? That wasn’t as bad as the he/him/his when it’s a she/her character and a f/f story. Seems like a rewrite from m/f and that things were missed. It just kind of jolted the story negatively in my opinion.

Feels like a rewrite

We need more F/F omegaverse content, but I can’t help but feel like this was a rather pedestrian rewrite of a M/F story that got made gay.

Too many he and him references still in the manuscript to take this seriously as a sapphic work.

Enjoyed some parts

But was completely distracted by the changing pronouns. Needs a good proof reading. This was very disappointing. Three more words.

Short decent read

This is a read that screams unrealized potential. It’s okay as is for a short story maybe novella. Written and edited well enough, but could be so much more.

I really did not like this book.

Firstly, I hate how the dynamics work in Omegaverse books and how virtual SA/R*pe scenes can be brushed off because "oh that's just the world". No, it is not okay and the fact is our main character was forced into every situation including the smut and at no point did it feel like she and Skye could ever believably fall in love, let alone become mates. There was no communication or synchronicity between them that is so essential when building a relationship. There was barely any 1-1 interaction between the characters and when there was, it was always Skye making demands and throwing her power around while Lina just spent the whole time miserable. Even during the smut, Lina was always being coerced and it was always Skye's demands being met. Nothing felt romantic between them.

There was far too much within the plot to really flesh out in such a short novel, leaving everything feeling rushed and underwhelming. I felt no emotional connection to the events because they were so loosely explained or thrown in abruptly. So many characters had tiny cameos only to never be seen again and it just felt like wasted time on them instead of focusing on the relationship or plot.

The book is set around Christmas and yet so easily could have had all the Christmas stuff removed to give a few more pages of plot and build up with the characters instead of half a page describing what the tree in the foyer looked like. This book could have been set any time of year and would have had no impact on any of the events of the book.

Overall, I was so underwhelmed by this and have definitely decided that omegaverse is not for me as it basically just lets a**holes go around assaulting people with no consequence. No thank you.

The Lightcrest Contract: A Paranormal F/F Wolf Shifter Romance (Lightcrest Pack Book 1)

Madeline's world was completely upended when tragedy struck and her parents unexpectedly passed away. Left to fend for herself and fight for her father's business, she found herself facing a formidable challenge from the powerful Alphas of Alexander and Skye.

This book may be short and sweet, but it packs a spicy punch with an intriguing twist in the storyline. The chemistry between the characters is intense and sizzling, like a blazing fire.

Madeline's determination to protect her family's legacy shines through, making her a fierce and formidable protagonist. Though there may be a few spelling errors, the overall enjoyment of the story remains unaffected.

As the plot unfolds, a mystery unravels, catching the reader off guard. Nothing is as it seems, and the truth lies hidden beneath the surface. At its core, this is a love story between two mates who have found each other against all odds.

This author has captivated me with their storytelling, and this certainly won't be the last book I read by them. If you're interested, you can find the book on Amazon KU!

I really like omegaverse and I was excited to finally read sapphic a/b/o, but this wasn't it.
It felt like a toxic billionaire romance rewritten last minute to be f/f (there are so many he/him pronouns used for one of the fmcs). And omegaverse got slapped on it to explain the mistreatment of Madeline, the omega. Honestly, she's treated like a thing by Skye to the point where I don't buy they liked each other.
The book is very short, so I understand the plot couldn't be fleshed out more, but some of the things that happened were so unbelievable
The smut was okay, but was overshadowed by Skye forcing herself onto Madeline at the beginning.

Stars: 2 Stars
Format: Digital
Series: Lightcrest Pack Book 1
Steam Level: Steamy

I read this for the I Heart Sapphic 2025 Reading Challenge for the prompt Dark Romance.

I didn’t hate this book but I didn’t like it. It has the bones of a really interesting and good book but the execution fell flat.

Quick Thoughts:
- Really enjoyed this set up of an Omega trying to run a business in a world ruled by Alphas
- Love how stubborn and prideful Madeline is. It really sold how she’d catch Skye’s eye and would make the decisions they both do
- And on that note, didn’t really like Skye all that much and only tolerated her a little bit at the end. I normally enjoy reading jerk Alphas falling for their partner but a lot of Skye’s actions felt more abusive than was necessary to believe she’d fallen for Madeline in such a short amount of time
- I didn’t buy that Madeline would believe Skye right off the bat about her parents. They hadn’t built up the trust, or relationship, enough at that point to make it believable
- The big third act drama felt rushed and too easily done
- There are multiple instances where Skye, and only Skye, is called him narratively by mistake that it left me feeling like this book was originally written as a MF pairing that got changed to FF. The final sex scene read as straight and not sapphic (and that isn’t because of the toy)

Overall I didn’t really care for this book and won’t be continuing this series.

Loved this paranormal ff romance

It was short, steamy, and has a good story with a twist.

The disadvantage of the brevity is the characters weren't introduced in detail but the short read was worth it.

Madeline was wading through running her family's business but isn't really making a mark until Skye steps in.

Their attraction could have been improved but everything worked out well.

I don’t want to burn this book in a fire but it wasn’t good. The characters are paper thin. The protagonist, an omega, seems to be incompetent at everything and miserable all the time. Her alpha love interest’s character traits include “blonde” and “tough” and not much more. Their relationship did not really develop; they were hostile for 90% of the story and then they were mates. The final sex scene was pretty good, at least.

I did not hate this

It was a quick read, some steam, problematic dynamics which I usually dislike but felt neutral about here for some reason. Not much really happens in this book, but it was short so that was fine. It was decent, but nothing particularly stood out. I might read the next in the series but if it doesn't hook me I'll move onto something else.

Unlikable characters, poor editing, nonsensical plot points. I think this was maybe a F/M omegaverse story and the author just changed the pronouns to make it sapphic? There were multiple places where one of the female main characters is referred to with he/him, and her name goes from Skye to Sky. Zero meaningful development is able to happen in just 77 pages unfortunately

Fast paced ice queen/enemies to lovers

Several "he" or "his" grammar errors to be resolved, which makes it feel as though it's copied and pasted from another source. Characters were quick to draw me in. Heavy Spice.

So Much Potential

I gave this 3 stars for the writing and the potential of the story. This story could be a 6/5 star easily… it just feels rushed and unfinished.

It has good parts, what writing is in this story is well done and I enjoyed the writing style a lot.

The first half of the book was genuinely entertaining, but the second half felt like an entirely different story, where even the characters seemed out of character themselves lol

"Beneath it all was a visceral need to reclaim control, to take back a piece of myself that had been stolen from me."

This was very short, otherwise I would have DNF'ed it. It needed another serious edit. The primary editing issue was Pronouns. It seemed this was originally a MF romance and the author decided to flip it to a FF but missed some of the references to the Alpha being male.

The other problem I had was the cancelling of the MC's power. This is probably an issue mainly with my beliefs and maybe this means Wolf-Shifter fiction is not for me. The MC was labled and "omega" and yet she had come into a position where she was CEO of her parents company upon their untimely (and possibly shady) deaths. Unfortunately, the company was failing and she was not "business minded." As a result she was basically forced into the position of selling herself into sexual slavery to the Alpha CEO of another company who would save the family business. The MC was presented as headstrong, stubborn, willing to learn and determined, yet she bowed to the whole slavery situation and was "tamed." I frankly growled through the whole thing. Not the least bit sexy. Blech. My last problem. No one shifted into a wolf. What is up with that? I had to read about inner wolves, but no actual wolves. Disappointing.

Overall I enjoyed the reading, it was tense, hot and Skye was really a baddy, with the POV highlighting her unilateral and imposing decisions and Madeline struggling to give away her control, which coincided with me struggling to accept that she was going to give her control away for lack of options. I was pissed hahaha. And that's what sold it to me the most.

But I was also left with so many questions, I mean I get that I should take this as is, but I cannot help myself and ask why and how Skye did what she did, what made her do it? How things actually got to where they were, we get an idea, but the length of the story obviously wouldn't allow for it to be developed. One can hope, though hihi
