Sergey finally escapes from Paris - only to have his multidimensional shelter invaded. His time in France may have been rough, but it was a walk in the park compared to what’s in store for him… central Europe is going to be a wild ride!
I received a review copy of this book. Berlin: Here I come is the second book in this series, and if you're a zombie fan, then you should enjoy this one. (well, that is if you enjoy seeing zombies getting taken out by the thousands). If you're not a zombie fan, then don't worry, this is more of a zombies just happen to be the mass majority of enemies, rather than another critter type of thing, the fact that they're zombies in no way prevents non zombie fans from enjoying the book. This one is a lot of fun, and we get to see some of the underpinnings of the system in this book. Very well done, and I'm looking forward to the next one, this is turning out to be an excellent base building story.
Its a fun simple story... That gets boring and redundant.
The overall story is fine. I like the crude, chauvinistic main character. It's a fun story. But it seems to drag, it goes into SIM building and introducing scenes in the plot that become irrelevant. The main character continuously just does the same thing over and over again, it gets redundant to the point of it being boring. There are adding issues and plot holes, but you don't lose pacing because of these things. A lot of the dialogue seems to just be filler. It's a hard series to recommend because it's kind of forgettable. It's unique and fun at times but also somehow drags. I like the author's work, so I say these comments with the disappointment because I think the series could have been exceptional. So far it is not.
This is one of those series that I get an ARC of. I check the translation from Russian to English and make sure that it is as smooth a read as possible. I enjoy this series and am looking forward to more. This series is definitely a different type of litrpg, but for me it's fun and enjoyable. A good way to spend a few hours. I'll admit that some of the things that the MC does or thinks are good ideas are just flat out silly. Not always in an amusing way either. More of a this dude is stupid way. However it works because nobody is smart all the time. We all have stupid ideas or beliefs, so for me it makes the MC feel more real.
8/10 Just some good fun. If you find any mistakes let them know and they will get it fixed.
Sequels are always a mixed bag for me. Especially if book 1 was awesome because then a high bar has been set that is never easy to surpass.
Overall I liked this book. The dungeon was cool and I liked how the MC interacts with the orc people.
Hated how little progression the MC makes as a whole.
I also hate when authors have a base building book in a magical world and they don’t build a magical base. Nope, let’s just do everything in the mundane way with mundane components. Granted this isn’t all that bad, but I have read authors that did this aspect of the story soooooo much better.
This series is the solid two books long at this point they're both very long so that's definitely a win they are Russian though so if you've read Russian translated novels before you'll know that there's some different ideas in politics. The lit RPG aspect of the story is really limited The growth is very slow and really skills seem to matter more than stats.
Fantastic, nonstop action in this one. I realize it’s an apocalypse story, but every moment just feels like riding the edge of a knife. I almost get anxious with all of the conflict. Now it feels like the next books are going to be even more intense.
Read the first one before this. While the background of the first book was important to understand the second, the second book is better! Now I’m on to the third!!
The title is misleading as the protagonist doesn´t leave France yet.
Throughout this book the protagonist´s faction fights most of the time both on Earth and to defend their realm against a plethora of enemies. I was no big fan of the fact that they use guns rather excessively all the time.
There is a lot of looting/recycling, some recruiting and base building but no interesting social developments. The protagonist finds his first dungeon and becomes more and more OP.
