This is one of the books we love to use when we are help our little ones practice their reading. I love the wholesome view of a traditional family this book presents. (reviewed 2013)
This has to be one of my favorite books to help children gain confidence in their reading abilities. The words repeat so often that children are quickly able to move from sounding out words to sight-reading them. A convinced that a confident happy reader who has gained the love of reading will go on to read and enjoy harder books.
Highly recommended as a beginning reader for children! (reviewed 2024)
Starting this one early with my son by reading it to him and pointing at the words. Most of the words in this book he’s capable of saying already so I’m hoping he’ll be able to read it aloud to me by the time he’s five. He loves looking at the pictures and pointing out what they are to me. This is the perfect introduction to reading I’ve found for him
Very repetitive, which helps kids continue reading, but the words are sometimes so basic as to be ridiculous. I love the humorous pictures that go with the stories and how simple yet fun the stories are for young readers.
Classic children's literature. I was on the edge of my seat. Would Dick kick Spot for chewing on his favorite glove? Would Jane slap Dick for not sharing his jump rope? The answers to these gripping questions await between the covers of this masterpiece!
My 5 year old and I read this together as she is learning to read. I love that it is a clean, wholesome, easy introduction to reading. She loved it and was so proud of herself for finishing the whole 300+ pages.
The artwork is excellent! I never noticed how well done it is- especially of Puff and Spot and Tom. Beautiful book. See, see, see. Read, read, read the big red book!
