Helen Beatrix Potter was an English author, illustrator, mycologist, and conservationist who is best known for her children's books, which featured animal characters such as Peter Rabbit.

Born into a wealthy household, Potter was educated by governesses and grew up isolated from other children. She had numerous pets, and through holidays in Scotland and the Lake District, developed a love of landscape, flora, and fauna, all of which she closely observed and painted. Because she was a woman, her parents discouraged intellectual development, but her study and paintings of fungi led her to be widely respected in the field of mycology.

In her thirties, Potter published the highly successful children's book The Tale of Peter Rabbit and became secretly engaged to her publisher, Norman Warne, causing a breach with her parents, who disapproved of his social status. Warne died before the wedding.

Potter eventually published 24 children's books, the most recent being The Tale of Kitty-in-Boots (2016), and having become financially independent of her parents, was able to buy a farm in the Lake District, which she extended with other purchases over time.

In her forties, she married a local solicitor, William Heelis. She became a sheep breeder and farmer while continuing to write and illustrate children's books. Potter died in 1943 and left almost all of her property to The National Trust in order to preserve the beauty of the Lake District as she had known it, protecting it from developers.

Potter's books continue to sell well throughout the world, in multiple languages. Her stories have been retold in various formats, including a ballet, films, and in animation.

I thought I left a review for this, but there's a chance that my phone ate my review before it saved. So here goes, again

I'll keep it simple. This is Beatrix Potter's collected works of short children's stories that she wrote and if I'm correct illustrated as well. I grew up on Peter Rabbit but I don't think I read any of her other works. I bought the Barnes and Noble leatherbound edition a few years ago and recently sat down with it and read through it all. I love all of the illustrations and at least half of the stories and I still give it a high rating.

Definitely a book for the child at heart and for children in general. This is good stuffs to read

The following review is based off my own opinions, thoughts and reactions. So in other words brace yourself. *There may be inappropriate words such as curse words.* You have been advised in advance.*

Peter Rabbit has always been a favorite childhood story series for myself. I remember when I got dangerously sick that I wasn't allowed to play outside with the other kids in my class. So to pass the time, I would huddle up in the library with the Peter Rabbit stories and just read them until it was time to go back to class.
With the recent movie out Peter Rabbit, I began looking into finding the complete collection. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find the individual books. Talk about brain wrecking. Thankfully Barnes & Nobles had the entire collection! And this collection didn't disappoint!
This collection has a number of stories that I didn't even know existed! Since getting this book, I have been obsessively reading and rereading it! It brings back so many childhood memories. I think my favorite part about this is the artwork and images were added into this collection. The amount of happiness this book has brought me is priceless.
For the price I paid for this book, it was well worth. The whole collection is here of some of your favorites plus bonus stories. I just can't even get over how amazing this book is. Good for short bed-time stories too! I highly recommend getting a copy if you're a fan of the Peter Rabbit series. THis is one book that every collection needs and deserves!

There’s a lot to like about the Peter Rabbit stories. In a way, one could say that Beatrix Potter paved the way for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Each story focuses on a different character, but every now and then an old familiar face will come in to enrich and enhance what is already a quality story. The locations and places become familiar as you read.
What surprised me about these stories is how playful they are and how grisly they are at the same time. For example, you’ll read a story about a bunch of cute little chipmunks bringing gifts to an owl so they can look for nuts on his lands – and then all of a sudden a character is seconds away from literally skinning someone alive. Potter doesn’t let you forget that these are stories about animals. Animals with clothes and etiquette, yes, but animals nonetheless.
Potter’s woodland creatures have aged very differently from Milne’s characters of the Hundred Acre Wood. They’re still charming and fun, but the tone of realism that Potter added makes me realize that what was appropriate in terms of graphic content for a children’s story back then has changed significantly in our time.

6/24/18 age 7 - My favorite story was The Two Bad Mice, where they broke the pots and broke the pans of Jane and Mary's dollhouse.
Benjamin Bunny: There is a hollow tree where Peter Rabbit's cousin came to visit in the middle of the woods. And Benjamin found his cousin, Peter, wrapped in a handkerchief at the bottom of the tree.
The Tailor of Gloucester: Mice came and worked on a petticoat and a waistcoat

It tells the reader that it is okay to go into someone else's home when they are not in and take what you want and break what you can't, as long as you 'pay back' using money that yet someone else dropped and sweep their home every day. And it suggests that you only need to feel guilty after you see the police or a trap meant for thieves.

I just read one of Beatrix Potter's biographies so I was curious to go back and read her 23 "little book," which I had read many times before. But it was interesting to reread them with a different lens and insights to each.

These are definitely a vibe and the images are wonderful, but the stories are fairly dull, even for children's stories.

Having never previously read Beatrix Potter's work, I had no expectations or nostalgia going into this. To be honest, I bought it because it is a beautiful book, and I'm glad I did! I enjoyed these little stories much more than I thought I would, even if they are rather old-fashioned. Each story had some background info provided, often explaining how many of Potter's characters were inspired by her various real-life pets - this spoke to my inner animal-lover! :)

I rewatched the movie "Miss Potter" and decided to read all of her books. Some were better than others. I may not be a good judge, because it has been a long time since I had little kids, but I don't think a lot of these stories would still hold up today.

Wonderful classic tales with all the charming illustrations. I am very glad to own this set of all 23 individual books. My 4-year-olds favorite is The Tale of Tom Kitten, my favorite line coming from Tom's mother, "...you are not fit to be seen; I am affronted."

Our youngest absolutely loved these books. As for myself, I was pleasantly surprised at the way many of the stories work on a different level for grown ups; Miss Potter was a clever lady. I had as much fun reading them as my son had hearing them read.

This is the updated collection of the Beatrix Potter tales featuring reproductions of her original illustrations for each. I believe there are twenty-seven books in this box set and they are all beautifully reprinted. They were some of my favorite tales to read as a young child and they still are.

I'm not rating this because it's a collection of children's stories.
Unfortunately this collection has not aged well at all, and I was actually quite surprised at how long and drawn out some of the stories were (there were some that were 60-120 pages long) and the type of language and content in the stories. I definitely feel like I had a different experience with Peter Rabbit as a child.
