So Wayward Souls is proof that Fractured Parts being so good wasn't a fluke... because in my opinion this one is EVEN BETTER and I loved it way more than Fractured Parts...and I LOVE FRACTURED PARTS.
Note: This serves as the second instalment in the Havok Hills series. While one could potentially read it as a standalone, I highly recommend delving into Fractured Parts first. It lays a solid foundation, offering a glimpse into the backstory and history of the main characters in Wayward Souls.
The story unfolds through a dual POV, centred on Spencer (Aria) and Travis. It explores their second chance at love, utilizing dual timelines with flashbacks and dual parts to reveal their childhood romance and the subsequent separation dictated by uncontrollable circumstances.
Spencer was the adorable best friend in Fractured Parts with a dark secret and I loved her in book 1 but now I flipping adore her. She has gone through some seriously dark, twisted and vile shit in her life and is constantly trying to run away from those demons. She felt abandoned by Travis not knowing his reasons for leaving her alone. Her story was difficult to read and seriously emotionally challenging that all I wanted to do was climb into the book, hug her and be there for her as she had no one in her life to protect her from real-life demons who used and abused her in the most sickeningly way imaginable. The fact that she was still able to smile was endearing to how strong of a character she was.
Travis was a badass - through and through but ultimately with Spencer a literal lap dog that would do anything and everything for her. He was obsessive about her and has spent years trying to find her, and now that he has he will not let anything happen to keep them apart. The only difference is, that now he is powerful enough to hurt anyone who tries to hurt her. He is ruthless and frankly terrifying if you are on his bad side, especially given how skilled he is with a knife...
While the story contains elements of 'cheating,' it's justified given the despicable nature of her gaslighting, abusive, piece-of-shit fiancé. He does not deserve her and I completely condone that she does not stay faithful to that asshole.
A lot goes down in this book and I loved the pace in which the puzzle unfirled. I was speculating aspects of what had caused Spencer to run from her life from the very start and the unpredictable twists and turns kept me engaged and on my toes!
The scenes between Travis and Spencer are charged with excitement and brilliance, underscoring their explosive connection and I just love the two of them together (even if some of it is on the lines of "No-No-Yes-Yes" - if you get my meaning) and that they managed to find each other again!
Overall this is a brilliant dark, twisted second-chance romance that I urge you to read the trigger warnings of before you pick this up, as there are some difficult-to-read situations. This whole book is just an excellent testament to how fantastic the writing is by H.C. Riley as she excels in creating complex characters who resonate deeply, handling their experiences and trauma with beautiful finesse.
Quite frankly if you LOVE Dark Romances and haven't picked up this series you are missing out on something fantastic! I am salivating for the next books in the series and I neeeeeeeeeeeeeed to see those two boys Blaise and Arsenal on their knees don't get me started on the GUSHING I have for Riot, Zeke and Cole (hehe)...

This book!! Talk about childhood sweethearts put through the absolute ringer. If it could get in the way and happen it did.
Travis is now the head of The Brotherhood and he has finally found Sawyer after a decade but she's engaged to a major POS.
Spencer ran from her hometown and has been hiding right under Travis' nose all these years. This girl has been through so much from the age of 17 until almost the end of the book. And with that trauma comes the self loathing and lack of self worth and she accepts her life as it is because that's all she feels she deserves.
There's plenty of twists and turns before the puzzle pieces of Travis and Sawyer's HEA can come to fruition.
I'm happy to say there are two more books coming and I'm hoping it will encompass the other two relationships that have blossomed over the past two.
Check trigger and content warnings. A lot of the trauma happens off page but there are still a few that aren't and the torture techniques could be gruesome to some. So much spice!!! Definitely a must read series!

The emotional roller coaster this book took me on was WILD. I felt so bad for Spencer and Travis because they both went through so much because of their parents and they suffered horribly because of it. But when they reunite, years later, they still have the same passion and love for each other as if no time has past ❤️
Also, Riot has my heart and needs to be protected at all cost 🥹 I cannot wait for his book in March 🖤

Amazing read
I devoured this book as I did book 1. I fell in love with H.C. Riley’s books and her writing. This book is heartbreaking but it also had me laughing, tearing and gasping! Beautifully written and can’t wait to read book 3.

If you like a filthy talking morally black MMC who would literally burn the world down for his soulmate, first & only love… this one’s for you!
Part one broke me; Part two reminded me how epic second chance romances can be. This book is for every girl who had her heart broken by her soul mate, first love, best friend. Only to find them again later in life and war between the fundamental love and hate they harbor for that boy.

Travis, Daddy Trav.. he is one of my top favorite book boyfriends now. I DEVOURED this book.
This is book two in the Havok Hill Series. This book can be read as a standalone, but I think reading Fractured Parts would help you understand more of the Havok Hill’s world.
Travis and Spencer were friends since they were kids. As they grew up their friendship became something more. As Travis got older, his dad who is in the brotherhood, expects him to join. Travis is forced to leave Spencer behind in order to keep her safe. After Travis left, Spencer endured the worst trauma and would do anything to get away.
After some years passed, their cross paths again. But Spencer has a new identity and is on the run trying to escape her past. Now that Travis has her within reach again, he will not let her go. After discovering each other's trauma, they cope with one another and rekindle their relationship.
There were twist and turns, such an emotional rollercoaster. I laugh, cried, screamed. I LOVE IT.

Yall. My girl H.C. Riley did it AGAIN with book 2 of the Havok Hills series, “Wayward Souls.” This is the story of Spencer (or Aria as we know her) and Travis, who we meet in “Fractures Parts,” book 1 of the series… and their story is anything but easy. These two knew and loved each other as kids to only be ripped apart by the dark world they live in… and not by choice. Their secrets run deep but their love runs deeper, even if they have kick and scream every step of the way to their HEA.
I feel like I waited 18 years for this book to release because I was DYING to know Travis and Spencer’s story and I was NOT disappointed in any way. Their story is told from a dual-timeline POV and really brought the story to life for me. Because these characters have a history, that past/present type of storytelling was essential and done REALLY well. Nothing felt interrupted and there wasn’t any confusion… just written in a way that made sense to the characters and the story.
Riley didn’t promise us sunshine and rainbows with Wayward so if that’s what you’re after, then this isn’t for you. These two go through hell and back quite literally and sometimes it was tough to read. Travis and Spencer were born into a world where the unimaginable happens and with Travis was hardened at such a young age leaving Spencer to try and survive in her own, it breaks them. There are secrets GALORE surrounding this love story and when they’re revealed, the length at which they go to bat for each other is endless.
Riley gave these two quite the character journey but to me Travis stole the show. He’s a dangerous underworld leader but that’s just one side to him. Spencer brings out the softie side of him, the date I say romantic side of him, and I was really here for that. Riley gave him the humanity he needed to be the man Spencer needed, the rock and safe space she needed to heal and feel cherished. I mean, SIGN. ME. UP.
But y’all…. we can’t forget the spice!!! Sure Travis says some nice things, swoony things, but the mouth on this man? 🥵 I’m a southern girl and the fan was WAVING from start to finish. I will not say more because I don’t want to ruin it, but their chemistry sure does pop off in the physical sense, not just the emotional side.
Travis Price is the MMC of my dreams and I feel NO remorse saying this but Daddy Declan better watch out. “Wayward Souls” is a dark romance with the trigger warnings to match, but these two MCs get a second chance at love and Riley wrote their story PERFECTLY! If you’re sleeping on Havok Hills, WHY!? My dark romance readers need this series in their lives and the more that’s written, the darker it gets and come on… that’s all we want as dark romance baddies! 😉
NEXT STOP! BOOK 3! and that one… THAT ONE is going to rock is all to our cores, I can feel it.

Wayward Souls is the second book in the Havoc Hills series. It starts where the first book, Fractured Parts leaves off. Travis has found his long lost love, Spencer. Who gets kidnapped right after. Spencer and Travis have been besties from the sandbox, and continued into a relationship of firsts.

Honestly, I just finished reading this book, and I am still a little emotional. I can't remember the last time I actually cried from reading a book.
I was ready for Travis and Spencer's story, but what I was NOT prepared for was the twists, turns, and emotional roller coaster ride that it took me on.
This book was slightly less dark than book 1, but that does not mean it was any less impactful.
Spencer(Aria) was running from her past and has worked very hard to vanish into the world around her. Of course, that is until her childhood lover Travis appears out of the blue.
Although he is different from how she remembered, his love for her has been unwavering. The things he has done and will continue to do to protect the women he loves knows no bounds.

After reading Fractured Parts, Travis and Spencer’s story became my most anticipated read. It DID NOT disappoint in the slightest! The spice was top notch and the plot keeps you hooked from the very beginning!
It’s a story that starts out as friends to lovers, to one day being separated because of outside forces to be reunited once again.
Travis is perfect in every way possible. He’s caring and sometimes goofy, but he’s definitely not one to be fcked with! The touch her & die vibes are on another level with this one. AND let me tell you .. he will make you swoooooon with how he uses that dirty mouth of his! 🫠
Spencer’s life was rough when she was separated from Travis. She dealt with a lot of abuse and uncovered many secrets that sent her on the run. She was strong as hell in Fractured Parts, but you’ll see a completely different side to her in this one.
All in all, this book was amazing! Not as dark as the previous book, but still, check the trigger warnings. I can’t wait to read the next two stories that are in the works and I definitely hope for even more from this fantastic author! 🖤🙌🏻

This book is a damn 5⭐ I absolutely loved it and I can't wait for the rest of the series. I am so in love with all these characters. But Travis is deff my fav❤️
Trav and Spence have both been thru so much trauma and pain to last a lifetime. Trav was forced into his life in order to save her but in turn her life was a living hell.
Travis might have been molded into a cold blooded killer, but the way he melts for just her. There is nothing Travis wouldn't do for his girl. The way he would burn the world down for her and give up his life if it meant keeping her safe... But so would she.
As fate would have it, their paths cross and they are given a second chance to rekindle their love and get back the years that were robbed from them. But that would be too easy and our past has a way of catching up to us.
Spencer has been thru so much and deserves her HEA, they both do, and Trav will do anything to save her from the demons that haunt her and the demons that are hunting her.

I was honoured to receive an ARC by H.C Riley in exchange for an honest review. There was a note by the author that this was a bit of a “palette cleanser”, as it was lighter than some of the other reads in the series. Similar to the first book in the series, the author does a wonderful job at highlighting and normalizing the impacts of trauma, which is one of my favourite parts about her writing (besides of course, the SPICE). She also did a fantastic job at detailing why many people remain in abusive relationships, and how over time, those small hits to our confidence make people believe that they don’t deserve any better.
I loved the flashbacks to Travis and Spencer’s childhood - their story is so sweet and beautiful, and it really made me love their relationship. I loved Spencer’s feistiness and openness to submission, only to Travis, and I absolutely LOVED Travis. His dedication to his loved ones, his strength, stubbornness and his unconditional love for Spencer was not only sexy f, but also heartwarming.
I can’t wait to read the rest of the series, though am also mentally preparing myself for their darkness. Please make sure to read the trigger warnings in advance.

Is am so beyond impressed with HC Rileys writing. This is her second book she has written and I am blown away with her writing.
Spencer and Travis, they are the definition of a hot mess. Childhood lovers who were "forced" apart so to speak. Both went through 10 tramatic years apart before they found each other again. Travis promised to protect Spencer but then left her, thinking he was protecting her. Little did he know he left her with a monster. Spencer went through to much, things that no teenager/young women should have to go through. Now she is engaged to a monster & Travis wants her back.
But can she trust him not to break her again? Could she survive letting him inside her heart.
Their journey back to each other was heart wrenching and left me on the edge of my seat. Especially when Spencer finds out something huge with her mother.
The first book in the series Fractured Parts is also a 5 star read for me. You don't necessary need to read book 1 but it would give you some background on what they are talking about. I will be buying this book!

I really enjoyed Declan and Echo's story. But the love between Travis and Spencer was so much more. They have been there for each other all their lives! The chemistry between them was so strong and undeniable. The way Spencer was able to let go of her control with Travis and completely surrender to him was so wonderful to read.
I was also ecstatic to find out there will be a book 3 and book 4. It got so much better when I read that book 3 will be MMM. I'm hoping for Riot, Enzo and Cole. And book 4 will be even better MMF. That couldn't be anything other than Hannah and her men.

The way H.C. introduced us to the characters beforehand to set up this intense love story is amazing. Aria, who we find out her real name is Spencer, has so many secrets that she's running from, and the only person who can save her is her past love, Travis! Travis has his own secrets he's been hiding. Thinking it's protecting Spencer, he ran and left to join the Brotherhood to keep his lunatic father from killing her. Both fighting to survive the life that's been handed to them in hopes the love they shared from childhood is still there. Wayward Souls delivers all the spice and everything nice. From the intense love between Spencer and Travis to the action-packed Brotherhood life. H.c. also introduces new characters that you want to know so much more about to the point you love them! This book has you turning page after page. I can't wait for books 3 and 4!!

HC Riley does it again! I was graciously gifted this book as an ARC, so this is my honest opinion!
Wayward souls is amazing in every way! Spencer and Travis are just the perfect couple with such wonderful chemistry! I loved reading about their past and how they got to be so close!
It is on the darker side, so please check your triggers warnings, but I know all my dark romance girls will LOVE this book! I laughed, I cried, I felt all the emotions! This book has it all!
If you love an MMC who is absolutely obsessed with his woman and would do ANYTHING for her, rides a motorcycle, is a jerk to everyone but her, then Travis is your guy! The way he defends Spencer and how he loves her with everything he has. It's amazing. Everyone deserves a Travis!
But seriously, check out this book. You will not regret it! ♡

Wayward Souls (Havok Hills 2) is hands down one of the best books I have had the opportunity to read this year. H.C. Riley does an amazing job taking us back into Havok Hills and bringing the characters to life. Spencer and Travis are shown to us from various places in their lives of knowing each other and brought into present day. And let's be honest, Travis is everything you would want in a partner- thoughtful, protective, and possessive. He and Spencer are couple goals!
This can be read as a standalone or as part of the Havok Hills world (which I would highly encourage because Fractured Parts is also CHEF'S KISS!!).
I am so excited to continue reading work from this author and going further into Havok Hills!

Could not wait to read Waywards Souls after finishing Fractured Parts. I needed Travis and Spencer's story immediately. I absolutely devoured this book. This book had many twists and turns and had me guessing until the very end. This book has lots of filthy spice and a plot that was amazing and had me hooked from the beginning. The book left me speechless and wanting to scream from the rooftops at the same time. It's easily one of my favorite reads of the year.

This book was more unhinged than the first one. I literally loved this story. Spencer/Aria was a broken but strong FMC because of Travis. This story shares the back story of each and the current as well. They both came a long way to get back to each other. Travis is definitely a depraved character and love every bit of it. I love how his part of the story explains the depths he will go to for Spencer. I also enjoyed the aspect of how Spencer tried to remain strong throughout the book considering her history. This is a serious I would recommend to anyone who loves dark romance. This was definitely a good read for this year.

Arc Review: 5/5 I absolutely devoured this book...seriously could not put it down. This one is not as dark as Fractured Parts (Havok Hills Book 1) but that does not take anything away from this story. It was an emotional rollercoaster filled with secrets, lies, trauma, twists, and of course smut! My heart was completely ripped out of my chest but then it was beautifully stitched back together piece by piece. I love Spencer and Travis's dynamic, they are each others everything but have to fight to get back what they lost when they were teenagers. Make sure to read the triggers if you need to!! H.C. Riley is a mastermind and each book keeps getting better!

This book is such a beautiful story of love and loss and finding each other again. It is a beautiful second chance romance.

I love everything about H.C Riley's books and her writing. I am so IN LOVE with Travis. He has moved up there on my list of book boyfriends. This book had me be laughing, sobbing, screaming mad; the amount of hurt that Spencer experiences crushed my heart so much. I have never wanted to reach through a book and get my hands on characters more then her "uncle" and Liam. Travis is willing to do anything to make Spencer happy and the love they have for each other will put a smile on anyone's face. I can't wait for what's next I am in love with Riot and Zeke and I and wondering if Cole is going to sneak in there ;)

And just like that Heather knocks her 2nd book outta the park!
Travis and Spencer had a tragic beginning but when they find their way back to each other….. mother fucking SPARKS.
This has so many things going on starting where Fractured Parts ends with the abduction, but it flows so well and you are able to see all the moving parts.
I loved both Spencer and Travis so much and glad they finally get their HEA.
Side note: this is the first time I’ve read a book with gun play where the MC actually does it SAFELY by discharging and removing the clip. THANK THE LORD someone has some sense. Also…. Travis is pierced and that’s fantastic all on its own.
