Note: The decision was made to consolidate all Disney publications under the name Walt Disney Company. This profile is for Walt Disney, the characters he created, and the company he founded. Any questions, please ask in the Librarian's Group.

Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.

Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.

Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.

The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.

I meant to wait until the movie came out to read this, but I'm so weak! The pictures on every page were beautiful. The story is a lot more interesting than I thought it would be. I started crying about halfway through and I couldn't stop. Listening to the CD while I read gave me more insight to the characters, because as it's a picture book there's not much detail about their inflections. I'm even more excited for the movie now!

I loved this! Frozen is one of my Disney favourites so it was great to be able to read a book based on the tale.

Coupled with the narration, which was made up of the primary film cast - Idina Menzel as Elsa, Kristen Bell as Anna & Josh Gad as the loveable snowman Olaf - and the beautiful pictures, this book is surely going to melt anyone's heart. (Pun intended).

At this point after so many re-tellings of the same film over and over I am pretty much sick of them all but also recognize a good thing. As a result I have to give this book more than my traditional one or two stars since although it is missing the CD I found this to so far be the better version if you must read this film.

The book is just basically a re-telling of the movie with its details while not attempting to add anything else in or leaving anything out, it doesn't jump all over the place, make it bare bones thin nor repeat itself like the other hundred I have read. Although trimmed down to book format it is basically the way the film was presented.

The illustrations are pretty much the same standard fare although more based on the film style.

Although definitely not the film it would do for a great job in standing alone if one doesn't want to be subjected to watching the story.

Mommy gives me these read-along books when we are on car trips. I like listening along with the actual character's voices and the nice narration. The story book is bright and colorful. I love Frozen!

The book is the same story that if the movie.. just in a simpler and shorter version than the movie.

Its a good book for kids and for a bedtime read. Definitely a good option for gifting.

Disney Frozen has to be my most favorite Disney story. I love the plot of the two sisters that were close and loved each other so much that they would die for them. It really makes me appreciate what Disney is trying to accomplish with this story and really makes me appreciate the life I have with my sister.
The illustrations were much like the illustrations from the movie. I love that the stories colors were kept calm but inviting to the reader.
My kids love the movie Frozen and they love being able to listen to this story on the CD. It is a great way to make it able for young children to read.

Chloe (like probably every other young child in America right now) is obsessed with Frozen. She constantly watches it, listens to the soundtrack... And now the storybook. We've read it at bedtime nearly every night for the last couple of weeks. And while the film really is good enough to stand up to repeated forced viewings, this book just doesn't do a good job of passing along the film's charm or humor.

She likes it, though, and that is -in the end- much more important than any boredom the book fills me with.

I've heard the song "Let it go, let it GO" (who hasn't, right?) but I've yet to see the movie, so this was a nice quick read to fill me in on the basics of the story so that I don't feel so out of touch with the times. Nice that it includes an audiobook CD too for children to listen to the story. I can't say that this has given me any desire to see the movie though. Seems pretty formulaic.

Kids enjoy the read along series but even they seemed a bit disappointed that some of the characters such as Olaf, Kristoff, Sven, and Marshmallow really didn't get any voices in the story where the book is advertised with character voices.

Great way for a beginning reader to establish good reading competency. My daughter was able to follow along with the book while listening to the story on cd. The audible voice was a great one with intersecting voice overs from the characters. Loved It!

Natalie memorized it word for word quickly with that cd! She started reciting it while paging through completely unrelated books.

An abridged version of the story told in the ubiquitous movie. It does use the movie voices, but only very briefly. Young fans of the movie will surely enjoy it.
