When his parents try to coerce him into a marriage with an obnoxious, snobbish alpha, Ansel escapes to his granddad’s off-grid cabin. There he can gather the courage to make some tough decisions. After an unusually stormy night, Ansel ventures out to investigate the damage, and finds…a dragon. An actual, live dragon that crashed into the forest. Ansel fully expects to become the beast’s breakfast. Instead, the creature politely greets him before transforming into a naked man and inviting himself over for tea.
At almost forty, Pascal would like to think he’s not reckless anymore. But when he goes flying without checking the weather first, and crashes during a storm, dislocates a shoulder, sprains a wing, and lets a human omega see him in dragon form, he realizes he’s made a colossal mess. To top it off, his dragon-side decides that the little omega must be his mate. A nineteen-year-old sophomore! It’s pure luck that Ansel doesn’t study at the college where Pascal teaches, or he wouldn’t be allowed to even look at him.
A young dragon mate before his first heat is a fragile being, and Pascal needs to tread carefully. Overbearing parents and an evil ex are going to be the least of his problems.

Freefall is the third book in the Dragons of Ardaine series. The slow-burn age-gap romance features a protective dragon shifter, his sweet mate, and a satisfying HEA.

“This is what a bond means. Being tied together so completely, I feel him reaching into my heart.”

I literally devoured Freefall in a few hours, and the plan was to pace myself, but that idea went out the window real fast.

My love of Roe’s stories, especially his omegaverse series, is no secret, but I especially adore the world he created in Dragons of Ardaine, and Freefall was another wonderful addition to it. This story was more of a slow burn and very tender compared to the first two books. While it’s a bit of a slow burn, it’s a slow burn Roe Style! And once Freefall heated up, it burned burned.

We have young omega Ansel (19), who is being pushed into an arranged marriage by his parents to a pompous upper-class alpha. He’s expected to say yes, with no one caring at all for feelings on this matter. Sadly, that has been the norm in his life. His parents only care about their status and image, and for them, all that matters is that their son marries the most eligible and sought-after Alpha in the city before his first heat. Their protectiveness has become twisted.

Ansel decides to go to his dear grandfather’s abandoned cabin close to the national park to escape and have space from his parents and the upcoming engagement. His grandfather, who had been the only one to see and care for him truly, had told him tales of the dragons he saw as a child, and while at the cabin during a storm, he learns that the dragons in his grandfather’s stories are real.

Pascal (39) is a math professor and dragon who is approaching his 40s without a mate. He’s moved away from Ontario to Aradine for a better chance of finding his mate. However, he’s had no luck so far. After attending a party in which he was reminded of how lonely he was, he decided to stretch his wings to get rid of the itchy and angsty feelings he’d been having. He crash lands after narrowly escaping being hit by lightning, only to be found by a young omega who turns out to be his fated mate.

Never had anyone smelled like him. Never had anyone made me feel like this. I was hungry, aroused, afraid… raw. I felt raw. It hit me harder than the lightning that had nearly killed me a couple of days ago. Ansel is my mate.

My heart! Pascal has to be the sweetest Alpha so far in this series and so perfect for Anisel. Their dynamic is quite different from the other mated pairs of this series so far, especially comparing them to the very kinky Leo and Davidson. There’s a particular softness and innocence that these two had I didn’t feel from the others. Their chemistry and the intensity of the emotion, however, are at a level 100 when they come together. My heart melted when they were reunited again after Ansel ran away right into Pascal’s arms! That moment when they first kissed and what followed made me feel all gooey, kicking my feet like a teenager! Swoony, sexy, and steamy!

I sound like a broken record, but Roe writes some of my favourite types of Alphas! Sweet, caring, putting their omegas’ well-being first and wanting nothing more than to protect and please them without suffocating them. They love and treasure their mates fiercely and will never harm them and Pascal fit that to a T. The possivesness was also a plus.

I also loved how strong Ansel was! He stood up for himself over and over again not letting himself be passive in his life anymore. I love how Pascal admired his strong character and inner strength.

“Ansel, sweetheart, I might be here for eighty more years. I want nothing more than to spend them all by your side, loving you, taking care of you, holding you when you need me, and cheering you on from the sidelines when you fulfill your dreams. You’re my mate, my treasure, and the love of my life. Will you become my husband?”

The sex.

Okay, so Ansel and Pascal take their time. This is due to many factors, but especially since Ansel is so young and Pascal, as much as he wants his mate, has some reservations. He cares so deeply for him that he does not feel imprisoned by him when he has been by his parents his whole life. However, I love that with some time and communication, they know when the time is right for them.

Once again, Roe writes some of the most emotional, erotic and filthy sex scenes ever. You always need a cold drink and a fan, and in Freefall, we get both dragon bonding sex with lover’s milk and heat sex. Also, all the rimming and the dirty talk!! Pascal was holding back before, but once he gets going, he definitely becomes all Alpha Dragon, ready to satisfy and pleasure his mate. I also love how assertive his omegas are in their pleasure while keeping that Alpha/Omega dynamic.

“Fractured ideas flashed through my head while my body soared. About what he’d said, being my first and my last. That I belonged to him now. That I wasn’t a virgin anymore. He’d taken me. Claimed me. My dragon. His cum was filling me. I hoped there was a lot of it. Like when he’d come on my face and into my mouth and I could barely swallow it all. Now it was filling my guts in spurts. I tried to feel it. Find it inside me.”

“One day, I’d breed him. I’d fill him up, make his belly grow round and his chest swell with milk and love.”

“You came to me, smelling of heat, trembling. Your cock was hard, and you were blushing.” I kissed the side of his throat and nipped at the tendons there. “And I thought that you were my birthday present. You, in heat. It made me so happy.”

Things I also really loved - the large age gap (20!), major size difference, partial shifted sex, first times/virgin, lactation kink and heat sex!

Other things I enjoyed:

-- Canada and Ontario being mentioned, and honestly it would be a dragon’s paradise, especially northern Ontario.
-- Seeing Terrence! I’ve been enjoying his story so much!
-- Leo and Davidson, I loved their extended appearances in this story.
-- Dragons flying and Alpha defending his mate.
-- The family and community aspect with the dragons and their mates.
-- The Dragon mating lore and guide! I never tire of that book being whipped out and given to a dragon mate in need (and their reactions to the text and images)

Overall, I loved loved Freefall! I swear I will never get tired of this world, and I’m so greedy for more. If you love Roe Horvat’s stories, omegaverse, dragon shifters, and fated mates, I can’t recommend this book (and the whole series if we’re being honest) enough!

***4.0 rating***

This was very sweet and fluffy.🥺

I don't have much to say tbh. It was a wholesome book. Low angst and some steamy scenes. Levity is still my favorite in this series but this book was a nice addition to the series. I still have to read the first book. Roe never disappoints. If you haven't read Levity yet, you are missing out!🥵

I received this arc from the author and this is my honest review/opinion.

These Dragons of Ardaine books keep getting better. This one is a solid 4 stars.

There is slow burn, which I've missed in Roe's stories. The character and relationship development are solid.

This book deftly tackles controlling parents, age gap, a horny virgin omega, and an unbearably gentle alpha dragon.

Very steamy (obviously!) but soft and sweet at the same time.

What I was promised (blurb/reviews) :
Slow burn, older alpha dragon shifter (Pascal, 39 years) looking out and deeply caring for his human omega mate (Ansel, 19 years), not pressuring him and giving him time to figure things out.

What I got:
A sex-fest that started as soon as the MCs had known each other for THREE days. Pascal knew Ansel was his mate after these 3 days, told himself he didn't want to pressure Ansel, even talked to Ansel about the implications of being mated to a dragon shifter, and... let the bonding and sex happen anyway.
He didn't pressure Ansel but there was no time for Ansel to accept slowly what was happening, after their first kiss there was just sex, sex, sex.

I love Roe Horvat's writing and was looking forward to a new story from him with SLOW BURN. I'm very disappointed that this wasn't it at all.

Maybe I'll come back to this later, I don't know.
I'll have to remember to reread his earlier books, rather than hoping his newer ones would work for me.

This book is incredibly sweet. I love the world that Roe has created with his dragons and their dragon mate omegas.

Here it's a very young omega indeed. At just a few weeks off 20, Ansel has been protected, some might say heavily guarded, (it's me, I might say that), by his very rich and powerful parents and he's now in the sights of an obnoxious, entitled alpha who thinks it's a given he's going to marry him.

Escaping to the rural cabin he used to spend time with his beloved grandfather at, he has a very interesting meet/cute indeed, when he finds a downed dragon hurt in the middle of the forest. He's not scared because he knew dragons existed, or he believed the stories his grandfather told him when he was young about watching them flying high in the mountains.

Roe then delivers a truly sweet romance that sees Pascal resisting all of his dragon instincts to claim his mate and instead supporting Ansel as he gains his own independence from the wishes of his parents and comes to make his own decisions.

Of course, he senses there's something special about Pascal, both the dragon he's not afraid of, and the man he transforms into, and it's a really gentle courtship as they slowly take the time to explore and get to know each other.

But, never fear, we are talking a Roe omegaverse story here, so we get to the sexing eventually! And even here the feels are different. It's still stupendously hot, but it's also grounded in care, in allowing Ansel to move things on at his pace while Pascal tries his hardest not to overwhelm him.

Still, we get all the usual, the knotting, the dirty talk, the breeding discussions, the lactating and the changes which Ansel goes through in the journey to becoming a dragon mate. Once he's in though, oh boy is he in, and the temperature kicks up about a thousand notches to volcanic.

I loved this narrative, the change in pace from that of Davidson and Leonard's book, which went above and beyond kinky and then some, the lack of angst, no misunderstandings or miscommunication, no stupid Third Act conflict. It's just a really lovely romance from start to finish.

#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review

*sigh* Why do I keep doing this to myself? I love Roe’s writing and I love Roe’s characters and I trust Roe’s world view. On the other hand, Roe’s stories are extremely sex centric which isn’t really my thing because when what feels like 50%+ of the story is spent living and breathing and thinking about sex, I get bored.

For the most part, I loved the first 40-50%. The characters were lovely and the setting and ideas perfectly suited my happy hermit sensibilities. That said, I found the age gap a bit squicky. Well, not so much the gap itself as the fact that Ansel is only 19 😬

Past 50% it’s exactly what I know is Roe’s brand: loads and loads of hot, steamy sex. Even with the bits of plot/story we get mixed in, it was too much for me. I need a relationship that’s built on more than sex and sexual attraction and I didn’t get that here. So, much like my last Horvat attempt, I became extremely bored and uninvested and ended up skimming a lot.

No rating because I definitely know this is Roe’s brand. Up to 50% I’d give it a solid 4 stars. Past that, I simply lost all interest.

4.5 stars!! ❤️❤️ Roe is the best in writing erotica and this book is another feather in his cap. Continuing the series with this 3rd book the plot is low on angst, compared to book 2. I still loved this age-gap dragon and omega story.. 😍. Can’t wait to read more books in the series. Highly recommended 👍🏻👍🏻

Roe Horvat has done it again with Freefall!

This world, the Ardaine universe, is such an amazing place. A perfectly thought out omegaverse society, with all the issues and personal dynamics a place like this could have... Roe Horvat has incorporated all of this into these novels.

While Freefall is the third book in this series, I think you'd be fine to read this as a standalone. A few characters from previous novels do pop in, but their contributions just add to the plot. Plus, it will make you want to go back and read those books too.

Deeply developed characters, a super romantic storyline, and the page turning passionate intimate times Horvat writes so beautifully. Gah, it was gorgeous!

This was my favorite out of this series so far! I loved Ansel’s immediate acceptance of the dragon. I also really enjoyed that he was attracted to aspects of the dragon too, it felt right for at least one of the books in this shifter romance series.

Pascal and Ansel were so sweet together, and Pascals tender nature and regard for Ansel was so cute and perfect for this plot.

I had a good time reading this one!

Be Still My Heart, Ansel blew my mind, he was glorious!!

Ansel’s manipulative dads are completely opposite of Ansel. They live in their self-created stiff harness, everything is about status and money.
They have a husband ready for Ansel just around the corner, a haughty alpha with only eyes for himself.

Ansel finds an opportunity to slip away and retreat to the mountains, to his late grandpa's secluded cabin.
One night, in bad weather, there’s a crash, what Ansel finds outside is something unbelievable, it’s what his grandpa always talked about, it’s a dragon, a huge beautiful dragon!! He’s hurt, unable to fly, Ansel takes the alpha to the cabin.

Pascal is a thirty-nine-year-old professor and amazed by the sharp, funny, open-minded omega.
It’s clear for the dragon, Ansel is his mate. Only, Ansel is just nineteen, he’s a virgin and has to go through his first heat yet, being a dragon mate makes him extra vulnerable.
Let’s not forget Ansel’s parents, ugh.

Be still my heart, Ansel blew my mind, he was glorious!! He may be a young and tiny omega, but his ideas and thoughts were big, his way of expressing himself blew my mind. He’s the sweetest, fun, sharp-minded, righteous, straight-forwarded omega ever. Pascal worships the ground Ansel walks.
Pascal is the spectacular, big protective dragon shifter who’s deeply in love with his dragon mate.

The story is magnificent, it’s one big delightful bubble. The lovemaking / f*cking was glorious, they are insatiable, unstoppable, from sweet to hardcore, and on and on. With only eyes and time for the other.

It’s an absolutely mesmerizing feel-good read, with just a few tiny sharp edges, it’s highly romantic, super erotic, and with the best HEA.

a lot of people were confused on how a porn, excuse me, erotic book can be a slow burn.
the answer is: it can’t and everyone is disappointed.

those who read it because of the slow burn aspect are disappointed because there is a lot of sex.
those who aren’t here for the plot (see first sentence) didn’t want to wait until 40% for fun times and 70% for penetrative sex. the bonding and heat part were super rushed and that’s literally the best part.
that’s a shame because i really liked these characters.

Fairly enjoyable but nothing outstanding.

A number of the plot elements seemed anticlimactic to me. The evil ex, who is barely an ex, just disappears and becomes a non-issue. The parents likewise become frustratingly measured. The age gap doesn't end up being a problem for anyone.

I also felt like at the end there were a fair number of loose threads. It really seemed like Ansel's parents knew more than they were letting on, and I wasn't sure what was the point of Ansel's grandfather's notebooks. Perhaps just opening up the story for the future? It got on my nerves.

I did like how Pascal dragged things out between them, and I thought the play between them was good. I liked the mild virgin kink they had going, and I'm always a fan of partially shifted sex. A few other reviewers have stated the "slow burn" aspect didn't work for them, but I'll have to respectfully disagree. I didn't think it was a slow burn at all, and I liked the pacing on the sexual front.

I just adore the way Roe does omegaverse. I’m sure I’ve said it before, but I’ll keep saying it. There’s just something so special and intimate about it, as well as hot enough to melt your Kindle.

Pascal and Ansel were no exception. I loved the bold shyness that Ansel had.  He was a fearless little omega. Pascal was a wonderful dragon alpha. He took care of Ansel in every way and always tried to look out for his best interest. They were both sexy and sweet together. I hope Roe never gets done with dragons.

The family drama with Ansel did seem to wrap up a little tidily and I felt like some apologies were needed for how they treated Ansel. But that’s just me.  Another great addition to the dragons of Ardaine.

You can't go wrong with Roe Horvat's book and his dragon shifter series is absolutely fantastic. You can probably read them out of order but I think you get more out of them if read in order. I can't wait for what comes next in this series.
In book 3, Freefall we get Ansel a very young omega who hasn't had his first heat and who runs off to a cabin in the middle of the woods after his parents are trying to force him to marry someone that he know is not right for him. While in the woods, he find a fallen dragon! Which of course is Pascal, an older math professor who wasn't expecting to find his mate, even less that it would be someone so young!. However, the chemistry and the call is undeniable and what follows is a sweet, tender and super spicy story among these two.

I loved the Ardaine dragon world Horvat has created and I was happy to be back in it. Another Walter Sébastian name-drop, which is always cool. If you haven't read The Teacher, he's the heat coach, one of my favorite Horvat books!

“A heat teacher! I’ll fly Walter Sébastien himself here in our private plane if I have to.”

I didn't quite like this one as much as the first two books, as others have pointed out there's a bit of slow-burn (slow-burn for PWP is an interesting angle) and that didn't work for me.

20-year age gap, inexperienced virgin omega from a wealthy family, attempted forced arranged marriage, a little guns-blazing omega-stealing drama, nursing, lactation, typical heat and breeding scenes (but you've got to wait until 3/4 of the book to get it iirc).

Leonard (Leo) and Davidson Sullivan have significant side character page time. It was fun to see Leo completely settled and happy, and Davidson a little less grumpy.

I think if you liked the first two, you'll enjoy this one. If you don't like Horvat's PWP-style books, this one probably isn't for you.

I hope there will be more dragons!

I am running out of words to express how much I love this series. These books just keep being exactly what I want them to be and so much more at the same time. I always love a good age gap and it was so marvelous in this book. I just adored their dynamic of the much younger omega that was ready to get their relationship going as soon as they met and didn't have a worry and the older alpha that was more wary because he wanted to do right by his omega and not rush in into anything. It just so fascinating to see these two together. Also, the banter in this book? Out of this world, I laughed out out loud so many times.

The main characters were so lovely, I loved Pascal the super protective alpha that just wanted his man to be happy and thriving and Ansel the super fierce omega that always stood up by himself and fought his way through every hard situation. They just made the perfect pairing and they were explosive together.

Something about this one just didn't work for me. It took me ages to finish. Superbly written erotica to be sure. I was hoping for a deeper connection intermixed with all of the sex. More of the dragon would have been cool.

I've also concluded that male omegas making babies just isn't my jam. I find it weirdly hysterical, even when it's a well-written story.

Another total winner from Roe!

I love this series so so much. This third book is steamy, sexy, schmoopy, and has dragons! What else do you need?!

If you still need convincing, it also has:
Age gap
Steamy first times
Unique dragon anatomy 😏
Fated mates
Mpreg, breeding, heats
A great guest appearance from Davidson and Leo!

I adore Ansel and now he stood up for himself and defied his parents to do what he wanted to do. And Pascal is perfect for him! I also liked that this had a bit of a slow burn feel to it as the two got to know each other, but once things heated up, it was explosive.

Roe, as always, writes the best combo of explicit smut and schmoopy romance, and that’s one of the things I love best about his books.

I can’t wait for whatever is next, Roe!

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Freefall is the third book in the Dragons of Ardaine series.

Pascal is new to the dragon community of Ardaine after moving from Canada. I loved that he was friends with Davidson and Leonard from Levity, and that we got to see where they were now. Pascal went flying without checking the weather conditions, and crashed behind a small cabin where he meets a human omega named Ansel.

This book was surprisingly slow burn compared to other books I’ve read by Roe, but it felt needed with the circumstances of the story. I loved that Pascal was conscious not only of the big age difference between himself and Ansel, but he also wanted to let their connection grow naturally and not put pressure on Ansel.

When he smiled, so gentle and beautiful, I felt my eyes burn. “You’re my dragon.”

Their bond was beautiful, and like with the other books in the series, I loved experiencing Ansel’s reactions when he discovers about the existence of dragons and what it means to be a dragon mate.

The spice was great once it started (duhhh it’s Roe 😅) and the scenes didn’t feel repetitive. I recommend checking out this book 🙌🏼.

“I ache for you all over even as I’m holding you. You’re all I can see, your scent is all I can breathe, and your taste is constantly in the back of my mouth. When I touch you, I feel like I’m burning up and floating on clouds at the same time. I don’t think overwhelmed is a strong enough word for what you do to me.”

Their chemistry was on point in the first few chapters. Actually, now that I think about it, it was pretty much on point throughout the whole book but it was certainly the strongest in the beginning.

Now, overall this book was a little boring not gonna lie. I mean after the other two books in this series I feel like I pretty much know everything there is to know about dragon mates and the concept of this series in general and this book kinda proved that point. I wouldn’t have minded the repetitiveness of it all if the plot itself had been interesting enough. It wasn’t my favourite though.

No matter. I will absolutely continue to read the next books of this series even if they probably will be more or less the same.

I was really excited going into this book. Roe is seriously one of my fave authors out there BUT I just could not get over a few things.

First thing, the writing was- by Roe Horvat standards- atrocious. It felt like it was written in two minutes. The first two books- especially this first one- were so so so good, I enjoyed both of them, so maybe I had high expectations, but this was just so freaking badly written, with that same desperate virgin trope that is so popular.

Secondly, and this is important so say it with me; LEAVE TEENAGERS ALONE. I just could not get over the fact that he was nineteen, but honestly sometimes it felt like he was twelve with the way he was acting. At times it felt like the author and the characters all knew how weird it was that an almost forty year old man was dating a teenager and for you gross people that will come at me and say "He's legal" you're part of the problem. I'm nineteen myself, and I cannot tell you how weird I find it to have grown men over the age of twenty two lust after me when technically I'm still considered a kid, I mean I'm nineteen, not twenty nine. I honestly do love age gaps, but I just don't like it when we bring in a teenager into the mix. This disgusting romanticized idea that it's okay for a grown man with literal kids to be dating someone under the age of twenty is weird and you adults encouraging it are the reason pedophiles still roam free. But then again, as I type this I realize that maybe it's just me, the nineteen year old who's been hit on by so many adult men even before I turned eighteen, who finds it weird. Maybe it's only cause it's frowned upon in my culture(I'm from Africa) and in the western world it's fine for men to fraternize with children🤷 that's really all that just got to me. I've never really read an age gap romance were the MC was young enough to be my peer in college, so I couldn't help but wrinkle my nose at this.

Anyway dnf at 53%

I absolutely love this series and this book is such a phenomenal addition. No one does omegaverse like Roe Horvat - beautiful stories that are sublimely erotic with deep emotional expressions of tenderness and characters you fall in love with.

I love how aptly named this book is - both Pascal and Ansel are in a freefall as the forces of bonding are propelling them to fall in love. Pascal is a bit of grump before he meets Ansel who at just 19 is learning to fight for what he wants and strive for a life that is his own and not dictated by his family. Pascal quite literally crash lands into Ansel’s journey of freedom and these two have a lot to work through before they can be together - being stranded, Ansel’s almost engagement, parents who are fundamentally against this match, not to mention Pascal is secretly a dragon and they mate for life and he’s determined Ansel is his mate.
I absolutely loved how Ansel deals with all of this with grace and resilience and Pascal is kind and considerate and protective - so much swoon in this book… I could not put it down as they made their way to an HEA.
This is a slow burn to an absolutely raging inferno of a romance that I highly recommend checking it out. It can be read as a stand-alone but this erotic shifter series is amazing so i would recommend all of it.
I also loved seeing Davidson and Leo again and Pascal’s family were lovely. The found family theme of the series continues in this book as well as we see a lot of the dragon community step up for these two.

Expect:
* Dragon shifter x Human mate
* Fated mates
* Mpreg references
* Slow burn
* High heat
* Age gap
* Forced proximity
* Virgin MC
* Found family
* Possessive Protective MC

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Swoon: ♥️♥️♥️♥️

The age gap bugged me a lot more than I thought it would. As someone around Ansel's age, I can't imagine any scenario in which I'd have a partner 20 years my senior. I find it funny that Horvat waited to drop the "19-year-old with a 39-year-old" twist when readers were far enough in the book that we might not want to shelve it entirely.

I'm usually okay with the age gap trope, but this one made me feel dirty and gross. Ansel was a TEEN. Pascal kept talking about how he knew and appreciated how young Ansel was. No amount of "he's so naive, but his posh upbringing makes him seem older than he is" or "he carries himself in a mature way" excuses will ever sit right with me. Hot dragon professor or not, you can't get away with justifying hooking up with someone who's barely legal when you're pushing 40 years old. One guy is fresh out of high school (still living at home), and the other was granted tenure. The severely warped power dynamic made me sick to my stomach. This came across as robbing the cradle more than a romance. Sorry.

The 20-year age gap took away any enjoyment I could've gotten from the plot, but it's an interesting story.

✨ ARC Review ✨ Freefall by Roe Horvat ✨

UGH, I’m just freaking obsessed with this dragon series. There’s no other way of putting it. Obsessed!

Freefall is the third book in the Dragons of Ardaine series and it’s slightly different from the other omegaverse books I’ve read, since it’s a slow-burn 🔥

I just loved Ansel & Pascal’s story. The back story was pure genius—the omega Ansel growing up with his grandfather’s tales of dragon sightings—opening Ansel’s heart up to becoming a dragon mate. It was so beautifully depicted.

I think that Ansel has to be my favorite of Roe’s omega characters so far. Unafraid, brave and fierce. Unwavering in his belief and trust in Pascal. Standing up to his parents who already have a plan for his future and what kind of omega he should be. But with his grandfather’s voice in the back of his mind he stands up for himself and for his dragon, Pascal.

And yes, I cried again! Because until you’ve read a Roe book, you can’t possible comprehend the massive assault his beautiful writing is on your senses. There’s nothing like it. Every word and every pause carries a meaning.

There’s a universal truth to Roe’s books that we also find in Freefall: the pursuit of becoming your true self. Of setting yourself free from the expectations of others and the fixed ideas of this world.

Ansel sets himself free from the prejudice against omegas—and he sets Pascal free from the loneliness in his heart.

I nearly died when the fierce, tiny omega, his voice steadfast, told the insecure dragon “You’re my dragon” - fucking hell, Roe!

And let’s just take a moment to acknowledge how fluffing hot half-shifted dragon sex is! It was soooo fluffing hot. And with the ever-present underlying intimacy and tenderness it is some of the most beautiful and touching steam outthere.

Roe, congrats on a breathtakingly beautiful book. I absolutely LOVED it! It ressonated with me in a way that I never imagined a dragon romance could. Don’t ever stop writing. You are one of the most original and powerful voices in MM.

*edit is mine, pics are not
*I rcvd an ARC from the author, and this is my honest review 🩷🩷
