Whether the flag hangs from an angled or horizontal staff, be sure the union or canton (the rectangle with the stars) is at the peak.
When displayed over a street, the flag should be suspended vertically with the union to the north in an east and west street, or to the east in a north and south street.
The American flag should be at the center and the highest point when displayed with a group of state flags.
Betsy was buried on Arch Street in the garden of the house she was ran as an upholstery shop. The flag of the United States flies twenty four hours a day over her grave.

I liked this book because it is a small story that has a lot of meaning about our flag and in the story we learn about a woman’s love for her country and how she lived in trouble times.

I sincerely appreciate that the author acknowledged that this story could be untrue, but also that it might be. Either way, it's a very prevalent story in United States history and lore.

This is the Betsy Ross story, plain and simple. It does mention the controversy surrounding the account, that some historians believe it and others don't and that there is no evidence to support or deny the claim other than the old family legend, but it tells the story. I liked the book. It wasn't one of those pieces of historical fiction that go so far to create authenticity that they sacrifice the reader along the way. It was simple and approachable and I enjoyed it for what it was.

Tells a speculative story of Betsy Ross' creation of our first American flag at the request of General George Washington. It also tells how the story of Betsy Ross was untold for 100 years, until her grandson told it, and how, because of this, we are unsure of how true the story is.

This is a story, for first or second graders, about how Betsy Ross was approached by George Washington to make a new flag for their new country. In the end, there is a paragraph about how Flag Day was established.
