Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something … cursed? In the midst of my dream destination wedding, Aunt Lavender’s gift—a vintage locket—reveals a chilling it’s cursed with remnants of a dark spell from decades past. Suddenly, a falling chandelier, spoiled food, and a jealous old flame from Clint’s past take center stage, pushing me to the shadows of what is meant to be the most important event of my life. Fortunately, I have a magic cat on my side. At least, with the proper incentive, she’ll stand by me. Can we break the curse in time for our sunset ceremony? Or would we have been better off eloping some place warm and tropical—and minus one well-meaning, but eccentric aunt?

Great vibes all around. Book 6 set the bar high but I do think 7,8,9 would be better with the final chapter of each deleted bc they're kinda cringy. Cora likes Clint, I get it, but maybe they just need their own book where they relieve all their sexual tension so we don't have to shoehorn it into every book, it can be called Pouncing on the P**** just kidding :)

Cora and Clint on finally on the way to their wedding venue. Leann, Cora’s bestie is along for the ride as is the snarky Selene, under a spell that doesn’t let non-magical people hear her talk, only meow. Once they arrive, Leann, Aunt Lavender, and mom, Lilac give Cora her bride’s gifts. Wouldn’t you know something would go wrong? Lavender’s gift of an antique necklace she found has a curse attached to it declaring bad luck for those whose love isn’t true. Not reassuring to poor Cora. As they gather to eat dinner, Clint’s mentor arrives early along with his very sexy daughter, Naomi, who doesn’t give Cora a second glance but clings to the clueless Clint. What she wants is obvious or rather who. Is this the beginning of the prophetic bad luck? As more and more ‘accidents’ happen and Cora’s dream wedding seems doomed, everyone including Selene pitches in to find out what’s happening. Oh, yeah, there are woodland sprites who are not happy with the venue’s owner’s plan to expand. Will Clint and Cora ever make it to ‘I do’? Help comes from a surprising source and no, it’s not Selene. The answers are not what you expect. I’m so glad Danielle decided to continue this Winterspell series

Cora and Clint get married

…but not after plenty of hijinks. First, there’s the “something old” locket Aunt Lavender found, which carries a curse, then a series of mishaps occur, each threatening a different aspect of the festivities, from the power outage that ruined the food, to angry sprites in the forest, to destruction of the conservatory where the reception is supposed to be held. Luckily, Cora is supported by friends and familiars with great powers and by the world’s best wedding planner, so every disaster is gracefully managed until the culprit is uncovered. Amusing and fast-paced as are all the books in this series.

The cursed wedding.. or was it. Cora and Clint’s wedding day is near but a gift from Aunt Lavender suggests their big day may be cursed. When accidents starts happening, it seems the curse is coming true, but are these the actions of someone trying to sabotage the couple’s happiness? Selene ( my least fave character) is not as obnoxious in this book, I wish there was more of Chester. Overall it was a medium paced read with a good mystery, no dead bodies this time, leading up to the big day.

Sooo good to be back in Winterspell!

Back with my bookfriends Cora, Selene and the others. I (of course) instantly disliked Naomi. I love Selene! She makes me smile, giggle, snort and laugh out loud! Her snarky comments are so funny! But make no mistake, when it comes down to it, she can be fiercely protective! And wow, she actually said something nice, my, my! I love the way Garrett makes her characters real, flawed, with depth. Her characters are three-dimensional and that is one of the many reasons I loved this book so so so much!

Loved it, it was so nice and cozy. I liked the jelousy drama, especially because it finally showed Cora isn't so perfect. The wedding was cute, I didn't mind the whole book revolving around that.

Great mystery!

💖 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
📚 Genre: Cozy mystery, paranormal

💕 Positives:
* The mystery didn't involve a murder yet was still interesting.

* Selene's sass was toned down a bit, but still funny.

* I enjoyed all of the hijinks with the wedding. Kinda like the Money Pit but with a wedding instead of a house.

🚫 Negatives: None

⚡Content Warning: None

🌟 Overall, I loved this book. It was a neat escape mixing magic in a non-magic world. I love mysteries that don't include a murder. While murder solving is fun, it's more creative to set up a mystery without one. Loved seeing Selene and it was nice to finally see the wedding. Definitely will read the next one when it comes out.

I absolutely love this series and I really hope that there will be more books. Selene is probably one of my favorite characters even if she is just a cat, lol. I will follow her and Cora along on whatever mystery needs solving!

I really liked this book. Basically the whole thing takes place at the all-inclusive lodge where Cora & Clint are getting married (which isn't in Winterspell, despite the episode description). The book takes place from Thursday to Sunday on their wedding weekend. It's nice to have the whole family together and it's funny to watch them pretend that they don't have magical talking cats or any other magic (since the wedding takes place outside of the magical community so the staff and many of the guests don't know about magic). The wedding seems like it might be cursed though, as things keep going wrong. We follow the mystery to see if Cora can get to the bottom of it before her wedding ceremony!

Another Great Adventure with Selene and Cora

I absolutely love and appreciate how consistent Danielle Garrett is in delivering a consistently enjoyable reading experience. I love Selene. The first book I read and listened to on audible and I can still hear the voice of Selene as I read. Selene has remained snarky and it just makes me laugh every time. Very well written, excellent story lines that are well delivered and believable, perfecting editing keeps you immersed. Only bad thing is I have to wait two months to see what happens next. But I know it will be worth the wait!

It’s finally time for a wedding! Cora, Clint, Selene, and Leanna are headed to the wedding venue to spend the weekend there before their Sunday wedding. It’s Thursday night and Cora’s mom, Lilac, Aunt Lavender, Checkers, Selene, and Leanna are exchanging gifts with Cora. In true Aunt Lavender fashion, she gives Cora a vintage locket that turns out to be cursed. Things quickly start falling apart around Cora, Clint, and Selene as the weekend progresses and the wedding is in jeopardy. Can Cora, Clint, Selene, and their friends and family get through this weekend unscathed, uncursed, and married?

This time Serena is not as snarky as she could have been. Maybe because Cora is listening more and having Selenawork with her. Weddings and the preparations can be stressful. The saying something HAS to go wrong for a great wedding, well, no one said how many things have to go wrong. Poor Cora, everything leading up to her wedding is boggled with disaster. One plus, she meets Wood Sprites and Selena strikes a deal with them ensuring the venue is safe. How does the wedding go? You will have to read this wonderful tale spun by Danielle Garrett!

4.75 out of 5 Stars: I love these cozy mysteries and how they quickly change from one cause of the mystery to the next. Selene and Cora's banter is forever my favorite. I also love Checker's bashful sweetness. These books are light quick reads I would recommend if you need a pick me up or smile.

Wow! What a fantastic book. Cora and Clint are going to be married, but will it be a smooth weekend for them? Of course not! Such mayhem occurs that you start to think the wedding may not even happen. But just when you think you know who is behind it all, look out, there is a twist! This book was such a good one that I couldn't put it down. And of course we can't leave out Selene, the things that go on with her make you laugh out loud!!

Catnip Charms is the 9th book in the Nine Lives Magic series by Danielle Garrett.
Oh, how I love being back in Winter spell .

It's Cora's big day, her and Clint are finally getting married. But now without some trouble.

And Selene, I just love Selene and her snarky cat ways. Though she really does care about Cora, in her own way.

There is a great mystery here and the characters are so great, I just LOVED this book so much!

This is the nineth in the series. I listened to this on Hoopla from my local library. Even though I missed book 8, my library didn’t have it, I did not feel that it detracted from my understanding and enjoyment of this standalone story.

It’s Clint and Cora’s wedding. Who is trying to sabatoge it and why? There are plenty of suspects.
Thankfully, no one dies in this story but it does have drama for the couple.
This was a pleasant escape from the ills of the world.

Weddings are always stressful and nothing is guaranteed to be perfect, but wow! Cora and Clint’s wedding is so messed up! Is it a curse? Or is there a real person to blame all the misfortune on? Selene is her perfectly snarky self, only funnier since only the magical scan hear her speak. Everyone else just hears her constantly meowing. Lol! Really good addition to the series!

Weddings and Curses

Cora is getting hitched! And it would be great except Aunt Lavender bought a cursed necklace and now things are going wrong. Plus Clint has a friend that has her sights set on even if he is oblivious. As more mishaps happen, Cora and Selene begin to wonder if its the curse or something else.

It was great to see the gang back in action!

Good ending to Cora and Clint's love story!

Everything seems to be going wrong during Cora and Clint's wedding weekend. Did Aunt Lavender's something old gift really curse them? Does Selene stay on her best behavior or, cause more chaos as usual? Did the wood sprites cause everything? You have to read this book to find out. It's really good. Can't wait to see what happens next!

I love anything from Danielle Garrett. The Beachwood Harbor series was great, but I was a little apprehensive when I saw the new series. But when I read the Nine Lives Magic series, it's not just a recycling of her old stuff. It's funny, new, and creative. It has cemented Danielle Garrett as one of my favorites.

Rounded this one up from a 4.5. I think this may be the last in the series? but it ended with a literal fairy tale ending. This one had all the good cozy mystery elements- upcoming wedding, sabotage, jealous lover, bff romance, sibling wars, a curse. I was so glad that this one was more in depth and interesting than the previous 1-2 books. Selene was great as always as a character.

I didn’t see that one coming!

It’s Cora and Clint’s wedding weekend and their paradise venue is suddenly an onslaught of craziness! A cursed piece of jewelry, a falling chandelier, all the food goes bad over night…what else could possibly go wrong?!

Grab a cup of coffee, sit back and relax while you venture into this chaotic weekend of events.

Excellent!

This was another enjoyable and exciting book in the A Nine Lives Magic Mystery series.

It seemed that everything that could go wrong for Cora and Clints' wedding, did so.

With a possible curse, an ex he'll bent on causing problems, and a mystery person sabotaging the wedding plans, it was a trying time for the bride to be.

Well, its wedding time and what could possibly go wrong? With an old necklace that Aunt Lavender had given Cora, it seems to be hexed. Now everything is going wrong, food spoiling, an old friend making eyes at Clint. So, can the crew get to the bottom of the mystery before the wedding day and be happy or????

Cora and Clint are finally getting married. And just for the weekend Selena has been put on mute. Now what could go wrong? True to Cora’s life most anything could go wrong and many do. Read this fun adventure to see if the wedding really happens. Loved it.

Selene, the sassy cat, is back! And she has a lot to say in this latest book in the series. Lots of fun with great characters and crazy Happenings. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
