Very underwhelming for all the set up. I'd rather have a linear book than a quick ending with chopped up epilogues.

im not gonna lie that ending was kinda… underwhelming? this series has been nothing but drama and mess so i expected the ending to be over the top and absolutely insane. it felt like the mangaka rushed for a simple and happy ending which shouldn’t have been the case with a story like this one😭. i am glad everything has been cleared up and we finally learned the truth about what happened but even that could have been written better (like imagine haruma was the one who killed his mom or some crazy shit)? in short, i wish things were written differently bc those first 8 volumes were something even shakespeare couldn’t come up with!

i started this series (according to mal) in october of 2021 so to finally be done hurts my heart a bit, the thrill this series gave me was like no other! i adore and will obsess over this manga till the end of the time but for the last two volumes i expected better :(

Considering how short all of these volumes are (then again most Yen Press manga is under 160 pages and costs more than Viz manga that they feel like rip offs sometimes😒). and that there were only 3 chapters in this one, a bonus chapter at the end, and then epilogue upon epilogue and while I did like a few, most of them just felt tedious. It's great for people who were big fans of these two but I wasn't. I know it's weird that I enjoy reading Finder but didn't enjoy this (I'm comparing them because they both have toxic relationships and a guy who stalks the main character). Like I said many times before, I just didn't care for most of the characters except Touya and Sawako, couldn't take Haruma seriously and don't think he's that good looking. I did enjoy the first few Epilogue chapters of Sawako and Touya's story, but that's because I like those two even though they annoy me at times too, especially Touya. In Touya's case, he's naive and foolish but not as much as Yoh, that it's endearing but Yoh is so foolish and obsessive over Haruma that I can't find it endearing, it reminded me of Naruto obsessing over Sasuke, it got so annoying.
There is a scene where Yoh says that she wants to prove to the whole world that she loves only him, but here's the thing, if you love someone or something so much and you're confident about that, then you don't need to prove to anyone except yourself, why do what strangers think matter? It's like the TikTok generation with their constant to tell everyone every little detail about their life😒

The best volumes in this series were definitely vol. 7 and 8. The worst volumes were... I can't exactly remember. I read vol. 1 and 2 in 2022 and remember enjoying vol. 1 but don't remember how I felt about vol. 2 and then read vol. 3 in the beginning of this year and don't remember how I felt about that and vol. 4 either. I have vol. 1-6, so I'm not sure if I wan to complete the series or just keep vol. 1 and sell the rest. If I forget about this series by 2026 (since this year is almost over, I'm not counting it), then I will either sell vol. 2-6 or donate them to aa used bookstore if no one buys them.

The reason I include the below paragraph in most of my reviews for this series is because I want to make clear that I don't hate reading books with toxic relationships, I'm not a Susan, I just have different preferences depending on the two main characters.
As I’ve stated in my reviews for the previous volumes, I love yanderes and dark romance but I don’t like Haruma and I’m not exactly sure why but I had a few guesses. Part of it could be the main character, she’s just not as interesting. Anyways, other dark romances have interesting main characters that the yandere is obsessed with and he wasn't that interesting either. Whenever he or other characters who are liars are supposedto seem menacing, they just seem goofy to me, maybe it's the dialogue or maybe it's because there are too many characters in this series like that, or maybe it's just not written that well (*cough* Oshi no Ko is better at the liar characters *cough*). So you can bet I was shocked that there is a series with a yandere in it that I don’t like😳

I'm glad I'm finally finished this series. There have been a few others this year where I had a few of the volumes of those series (I'm talking about series that have already ended) but wasn't sure if I wanted to complete them until I read more of those volumes and it bothered me so much. Thankfully, I'm almost finished going through my list of ended series I've started collecting. I have 8 left and only 2 of those are ones I'm sure I want to complete buying the series.

Maybe I'll update this review when I figure out how to say what else I want to say later.

Hm. I wasn't expecting this one to end 100% like every other romance out there, including the HEA with kids. Once Yoh and Haruma came together as a couple, their family issues, big and small, got barely a mention. I'm pretty sure that isn't how trauma works.

It would have been nice, for example, if Haruma kept scheming after he started working for Yoh's mom. There could be some conflict between Haruma and mom, that would require both of them to meet in the middle somewhere (rather than Haruma coming out on top, as he has throughout the rest of the series). What we have instead is an episode about Yoh's engagement ring, the couple playing a singles party version of Jenga, the two taking a bath together, and a brief episode where Yoh's presence as a nepo baby intern causes some issues that she ends up resolving for herself. Good for her, there, but otherwise... ho-hum.

I liked Sawako's epilogue story a little better. As with the other mini-episodes here, everything's pretty pat and doesn't have anything new to show us about the characters. Sawako's twin sisters were a fun addition to the endgame, though all they were there for is to own a business Sawako works at, and tease her about her going-nowhere relationship with Youta.

The author kind of let us down by dialing everything down to 5, from the previous 11. Madoka doesn't show up in this volume at all, not even to let us know she's still out there ready to cause trouble. What's-his-name who dated Yoh early on, and drove her to the airport in the endgame, has vanished as well. Not a huge loss. The art in the Jenga episode looked a little worse than the rest of the series, but wasn't poor enough to affect my rating.

This isn't my favorite piece of trash (affectionate)--not even close--and is unlikely to be a keeper. If it had committed to its darker elements throughout, it's hard to say what I'd think about it. As is, the pivot to our couple being cardboard cutout HEA types made the whole thing fall rather flat.

Review for the English paperback release by Yen Press 2024.

🤮

They should have just taken the first 14 pages of this and tacked on to the last volume and called it quits.

There are three chapters that basically end the series three times. And then chapter upon chapter of epilogues. I got so tired of it that I just didn't even read the last two chapters until the final few pages, which, yet again ended the series.

Given all of the deep reveals that we had in the last volume, and the times when the emotional response was appropriate, I expected more of a realistic ending that properly explored what they've been through and how that would shape Yoh's decision. This volume is so flippant and quick to resolve the story. And then it continuously offers super messed up views on what love is.

Clearly, this type of "love" story is not for me.

I've been obsessed with this dark romance since volume 1. From the incredible art and storytelling to the multifaceted characters and plot-everything about Love & Heart felt like the best sort of drug a reader can get their hands on. This series is easily one of my all-time favorites now, and I'm already looking forward to starting my reread of the whole thing.

I was so excited to finish off this series but this entire volume is just like. Side stories and the characters having cute heart to heart interactions and I'm just wondering why everything got wrapped up so nicely. What happened to the drama??? The intrigue????? Boo.

It was fine. Volumes 1 - 8 (or 9) are great. This one is just meh.

As a whole, this series is amazing! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

You have to like crazy stalker romance stories which I apparently really like to read right now…. Anyway, this volume was 90% epilogue and 10% finishing up the actual story, so that’s not the greatest in my opinion. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It’s actually like 3.5/5, I am not sure I necessarily agree with the ending, but I like the idea of people growing and being better.
