short review for busy readers:
A compendium of articles on different facets of modern witchcraft combined with elements of the astrological sign of Aquarius. Better for reference than general reading.

in detail:
I am an Aquarian and a Neopagan, but I don't practice witchcraft. But this title, I just couldn't resist: Aquarius Witch! It sounded both interesting, and kind of goofy, at the same time. 😅

Turns out, it could be quite helpful for the right witch!

For those who do practice, there are many lists of correspondences for herbs, scents, stones, moon phases, days and times, Tarot cards...basically for working any kind of spellcraft related to Aquarian themes.

What I found most interesting (and useful) were the meditation suggestions that use the astrological symbol for Aquarius ♒ as a focus and starting point for meditation.

I've always seen that sign as representing water, but in a broader sense, it can also be simply waves: Ripples in water, sound waves, radio waves, being on a wavelength, vibes, currents, flow.

Never thought of that before, but it makes a lot of sense given the Aquarian personality archetype and the image of water gushing out of an amphora.

Much of what's in this book can be found on different websites now, I'm sure. But if you like to have actual reference books around, you could do much worse than this one.

I really enjoyed this book! I’ve enjoyed every book in the sunshine series and the way that Ivo is able to evoke the essence of each sign.

Aquarians are in my life as leaders and teachers, so it was really nice to get this insight into the way they approach their craft. I also adored the color scheme for this book in particular. Mickey Mueller‘s articles were really great as well, she is such a pure Aquarian spirit! From her exploration on linden tree to the tone of each piece she contributed, I really enjoyed her words. This is my first time reading or encountering her work so I’m excited to look for more of her decks and books in the future.

Some of the spells, as all of the witches’ sun signs books, were usable regardless of your sign. There is a focusing spell on page 38 for instance that would benefit anybody I imagine, especially other air signs. I also really enjoyed the section on archetypes and deities associated with Aquarius.

There was a lot of tarot tips shared in this particular book, which doesn’t feel like a coincidence as so many Aquarians I know are tarot readers or even deck creators.

This book was a really great insight into the Aquarian and way of being.

Ivo Dominguez, Jr. is a highly gifted writer, witch, and astrologer.
He has recently completed a monumental project: writing 12 witchcraft books, each tailored to the individual Sun signs. But it doesn't stop at the Sun signs. Ivo goes into the combinations of the sun sign with each of the possible rising signs and moon sighs. If you've never had your chart interpreted by a professional astrologer and only used software, then this book will help with some of the nuances of how the Big Three interact.

When I heard this series was underway, I immediately pre-ordered Aquarius Witch. I have been an initiated witch for 45 years so I am getting pickier about which books I read (Is this going to be more of the same? Will I learn anything new?), so I am happy to report that this book changed some of my approach to my craft — and as a stubborn Aquarius — that’s saying something.

Much of this book is good for beginners, but there are lots hints in there for advanced practitioners to be uncovered — especially if you actually do all of the exercises (I did). One aspect new to me was working directly with the spirit of Aquarius. I have always worked with planetary hours and moon signs, and spiritually with local spirits, fae, egún (ancestors), nkisi, and Orisha, but never with my astrological archetype as a guide that can be worked with. Connecting with that archetype felt like another part of my soul clicked into place.

A lot of repeated information that you’ve probably already read and dozens of other books or online. Definitely just printed to make money.
