Unraveling the past can change the future...if time doesn't run out for her first. In the third installment of the exciting Savannah time travel mysteries, Georgia Belle navigates speakeasies, flapper fashion, and a world without modern technology, all while attempting to solve a murder that has remained a mystery for a century. When she uncovers a secret Savannah society, the connections to the famous murder--and others--are undeniable. But the deeper she delves, the higher the stakes become—especially with what is happening unbeknownst to her in her personal life back in 2023. "The Cottonmouth Club" is a riveting blend of historical detail, thrilling mystery, and poignant family drama. This is a clean read with little graphic violence.
In 1924, The Cottonmouth Club is a speakeasy which Georgia Belle (who hails from 2024) is determined to experience. On the night of her ethnological expedition, she bumps into a haughty film star and briefly dresses her down for abusive behaviour toward a staff member. When the star is murdered at the club on a subsequent night, Georgia becomes the prime suspect and must prove her innocence.
This series is a brilliant meld of time travel and murder mystery. The main character is a very headstrong woman with the ideals and morals of our current era who is trying to fit into a society set one hundred years in the past. The author is extremely adept at this "fish out of water" concept, which is woven into many of her series. Here, it adds a spicy kick to the Savannah Time Travel books.
I'm looking forward to reading more in this innovative series.
What a wonderful story! As in the previous books in this series this book is very well written, fast paced, action packed, has a great cast of characters and has some romance thrown in. This book I could not stop reading it was that good.
I love the early 1900's ,the styles of clothes & good manners. The plot I couldn't work out who the killer was, it was marvellous as usual. How Susan Kiernan Lewis does it every time. I was disappointed in Sam's character but it turned out good in the end. The time travel is an excellent concept & I cried when Gergio went home & her Mom had died. But Love shines on. The Cottonmouth Club was exhilarating & naughty. The movie star Cece dad not caring who she hurt. Overall another excellent book. Thank you for keeping me entertained.
Another great time travel book by Susan Kiernan. This is the third book in the series. Each one can be read as a stand alone, but they do build on each other. So I highly recommend reading them all. There is one more in the series that I will be picking up. Georgia is from 2024 and time travels to 1924. She is now accused of killing a famous movie star and must solve the mystery of the true killer to clear her name. This book has a little romantic too.
This story started out good with Georgia Belle navigating speakeasies, flapper fashion, and a world without modern technology, all while attempting to solve a murder that has remained a mystery for a century. Georgia uncovers a secret Savannah society and it's connected to a famous murder and more. Blends of historical detail, thrilling mystery, and poignant family drama. This is a clean read with little graphic violence. I wasn't impressed with the narrator because she sounds like she is just reading the book and there is not much emotion to help with the story.
And this is why Susan is one of my favorite authors. She writes such interesting characters and I can almost never guess ‘who done it’! The story moves along. There is conflict. There are secrets. Always a good read!
