The puppet master thought he could contain us.Break us.Turn us into his twisted playthings.Together, Drake and I forged something unbreakable. Our pain became our strength, our torment fueled our defiance. We were battered, but not broken. The playhouse was a prison for the body, but now, we’re more determined than ever. When freedom is within our grasp, we’re plunged into a new nightmare. Every escape is a gateway to a darker horror, each sanctuary a façade. In this relentless game of cat and mouse, Sam is always one step ahead, his sinister laughter echoing in the abyss of our despair.I’ve looked into the eyes of evil and refused to blink. We’re not the same souls who were kidnapped. We are warriors of the shadow, bearers of scars that weave the story of our defiance. Sam’s final game is at hand, but we are no longer mere players in Sam’s twisted drama. The hunted have become the hunters, and the final act will be written in blood.
I was a bit disappointed in this final book in the series. The first half of the book was supposed to be Drake and Dahlia hunting down Sam, and it was completely the other way around. Sam wasn't supposed to be that smart, and yet he was able to completely disable the main characters. Only to turn around and be the biggest moron to exist when it came time to save Dahlia. What??? It still had the same level of gore I have come to expect, maybe amped up just a bit. I do really like the creativity. This book was just way less believable than the other two and just wasn't fantastic. But the series as a whole? Definitely 5 stars. Highly recommend.

This entire series has been a 5 star series, and I will forever think about how absolutely disturbed this series was. There were moments when I was questioning HOW the authors came up with all of the scenes that went on in this book because I feel like they were a little too dang accurate. 💀💀
If you like horror erotica and literally have 0 triggers, I highly suggest this series. It starts with Trapped in the Shadows, and then book 2 is Embracing the Darkness. It was such a good series and is a major page turner. However, it is seriously dark and depraved and gory, so make sure you’re minding your triggers.
If you love Lauren Biel, I have a feeling you would love this series as much as I did! 🖤
Dark and Twisted. This is one of those books (series) that makes you go WTF Did I just read and makes me think I should probably be in therapy. When you think that no one would go there Drake and Dahlia do. Dive in if you dare, but don’t say you weren’t warned.
tw: kidnapping, hostages, stalking, torture, murders, serial murder, abuse, gun violence, emesis, rape, attempted rape, pedophilia, flashbacks of abuse and rape, gore, animal abuse, voyeurism, exhibitionism, captivity, homophobia, fatphobia, anxiety, car accident, decapitation, starvation, fire, burn victim, poisoning, slut shaming, castration, skinning, amputation
no yall im pissed. what the fuck did i just read? that was a complete and utter waste of time. •the first book - amazing! •the second one - could use some improvements. • the third one - close to a DNF.
so we start out with dahlia and drake running from sam (aka owen) and oh no turns out he’s working w the previous dolls to find the dynamic duo in europe!! so payton should’ve just been killed, they had no reason forcing me to read a whole fucking scene where he’s raped and then stabbed to death. acc horror. bri was always a bitch but even this was a little far even by her standards. why is so much of this book acc killing innocent people? drakes parents, owen’s nephew, payton, and the poor foster parents. and like drake is drake wtv but i hated his backstory like why did they make him a perfect rich kid who killed animals? and his first murder was his childhood best friend? i think a 7 year old could’ve thought of a more surprising back story.
and now we get to dahlia, and i have so many questions for these authors. like i get that she benefitted from the doll house but its almost like she has amnesia, i know she hated that place (at least originally). so now why is she running this goddamn place and cosplaying as a doll with the new batch. i think those two should’ve just found a life living as bounty hunters in the dollhouse, bringing in shitty people. why did they need to start bringing more innocent people in. dahlia is just as awful as owen ever was and ever will be.
lastly, this writing was ATROCIOUS. why are they trying to make everything sound so sophisticated like no this is a shitty smut book w a LOT of graphic murder scenes, no need to bring a poetic aspect to it. i can appreciate the sentiment and also despise the hell out of it…..
anyways i tried and im glad i did, i dont think ill read books like this again really but god fucking knows maybe something will sound interesting again? ugh we’ll see anyways those are my thoughts !

Escaping The Darkness is book 2 in the Playhouse Of Horrors series, this absolutely needs to be read in order. Well I didn't think things could get more dark and twisted than in book 1, well ladies and gents Masters & Wells definitely pushed the pedal to the max on this one. I wouldn't fully call this a dark romance, it dabbles much more on the horror side with some romance attached to it.
As much as it was gory, depraved, unhinged, twisted, horrific my messed up brain really enjoyed it. Please read the trigger warnings, this series is not for everyone. It has Saw & Squid Game vibes all over, if you're a fan, this series is definitely for you!
This book was heavy on the plot and it's what truly kept me entirely hooked from start to finish. I wanted to just read a bit, but ended up finishing it in one sitting. The vivacity of the setting and the detailed scenes had me imagining everything so easily in my mind. It is also insanely graphic, never letting up on any details during the kills. Once again, THEY DESERVE WHAT THEY GOT!
I did love how we got to see a lot more of Drake & Delilah's relationship, how they're both each other's support system through this traumatic experience. I did have a part of the twist figured out, but truly it didn't hinder my enjoyment at all. Also, it does end on a major cliffhanger again, I might be jumping straight into the third book.
Overall, this was a great follow up to Trapped In The Shadows. I am loving this world, the whole system & reasoning behind it all. I can't wait to see what more horrific and depraved things will happen in the third installment.
✨️Thank you to @coramasters & @georgiawells for my gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
Embracing the night picks up where the second book left off. Drake and Dahlia have escaped to Europe and they are on the run from Sam and his evil machinations. The way they slip Sam’s notice is smart but he is also creative in the way he ferrets them out. These things make the book very interesting, as well as the amoral activities Drake and Dahlia engage in along the way. It is always hard to write reviews for sequels without giving up too much of the information but suffice it to say Sam eventually catches up to them, as we knew he would, and the fun ramps up. You’ll also find there is quite a twist for our enjoyment pleasure.
The writing is just as good as the first books. The imagery created through the authors’ language is amazing, whether it is the gore or just the scenery. But beware to those with weak stomachs, expect the gore to be just as bad as the first books. It takes a lot of imagination to keep coming up with scenes like these that will hold our interest, but I think they did a pretty good job. I kept finding myself wondering how they came up with the torture scenes. I mean, they were so realistic they were almost suspicious. It had me asking myself where the authors had buried the bodies.
Just so you know, this is not your typical romance. It is more like psychos in love. What this looks like is gory intimate scenes and characters without morals. Dahlia’s character has evolved a bit and Drake is there for it. If you liked the first two books, you will also enjoy reading this one.
I was given an ARC of Embracing the Night by Cora Masters in exchange for an honest review . These are my opinions and I want it noted that I adore this author and am so happy to be able to read their books . Embracing the night is the third and final book in The Playhouse of Horrors trilogy . Quite the conclusion indeed! Cora Masters keeps you invested and entertained the whole way throughout . It was brutal and filled with shocking plot twists throughout . I liked how they evolved Drake and Dahlia relationship and enjoyed seeing them on the run. I loved seeing the two in Europe and the chaos that ensues . I enjoyed the pacing of the book and how well written it is . Now onto what I didn't like . I can't go into too much detail without spoilers but there was one plot twist in particular that I felt took me out of the story for a minute . It was such last minute and call back to something from book 2 . I felt like all the shocking plot twists and scenes were stacked into last 20% and it hit one after the other . Some of things a few characters do felt out of character for them to me . Which is why I am not rating this more than 3.75 stars . I do find this to be a great conclusion to the series and enjoyed all of the books in it . I am so grateful to be on the arc team. I do plan to read more by Cora Masters and to read their backlist .
I loved the first two, this one wasn’t as good which is a shame as I was so excited to read it
The first two had a original theme to it (for me anyway) this one was pretty repetitive, I didn’t like the whole hiding thing and honestly for 2 badass people why were they so afraid of a man who had no power over them?
Owen aka Sam was meant to be nothing, knew nothing ect but became some kind of hacking expert in a few months? He sound like he was a scary and powerful man but turn out hes a pathetic crybaby who is a dumbass
I also didn’t like the whole repetitive “I’m wet” every time some kind of pain/ torture happened ( I love a smutty book) but this had my eyes rolling we get it you get turn on by torture and pain
SPOILERS…..
The ending was kinda climactic- bri death was meh AND also Owen was- the man was being tortured but acted and talked like he was catching up with friends? Instead of trying to fight for his life ( he knew he was 💀 but come on try a little) 😂 ALSO all this was because he was jealous of being replaced
The gore was a little bit better than the other two but other than that the book wasn’t as good as the other two and wasn’t my favourite in the series but I’m glad drake and Dehlia got some kind of hea:)
.. What I was expecting. I mean, when I found out Drakes profession in the first, I was literally yelling at the book at D. "He has to be involved, my girl!!!... be more observant!" I saw on TT that people were calling this dark.. like pitch black.. to me, it wasn't really. I mean, yes, it's dark. The trigger warnings were there. But idk how to explain it. I've read darker. I actually understand the therapy Drake swears by. But I also believe people react the way D does during the.. "therapy" bc power like that is a heavy thing when someone felt they never had it. The house makes sense in a lot of ways, but I'd do some things differently. Like Drake swears, all of it is for therapy and the make them more, but some of the way he went about the punishment to the Dolls was redundant. He has a god complex. But anyways I am ranting. To me, it wasn't dark dark. I read it and smiled some. Rolled my eyes at some. Sighed in frustration. The smut was ok. I was a little disappointed. I just felt I needed some....I cant think of the word... like oomph, charm.. pizzazz lol so the books were good. I loved the plot. Therapy t0rture doll house. But something was missing.
A little game of cat and mouse and this trilogy comes to an end....or does it? Drake and Dalia are forced to run from Sam and the playhouse of horrors to try and get their barring's from what Sam has unleashed onto the world regarding the two but things do eventually catch up with them and the mice becomes the hunters. This 3rd book was way lower key compared to its former installments which was a nice cool down pace, but was lacking some story line. We could have seen some more development with Sam and how him and Drake even managed to get hooked up together. That would have been a nice insight. This is a fast paced trilogy and if you are into the whole SAW movie type material then you should pick these up. This is an 3.5 ⭐ due to the lower key development and lack of building some characters up. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Embracing the Night by Cora Masters and Georgia Wells is a dark horror romance. This is the third book in The Playhouse Horrors series.
I love the world that Cora and Georgia created in this series. I would highly suggest taking the warnings to heart. This series is definitely not for everyone.
I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see how everything was going to play out. This is definitely one of those books where I don't want to give any spoilers away. So, I will just say I enjoyed the ride and loved how they wrapped up the series.
I would highly recommend this series if you're looking for a dark romance, horror romance, slow burn romance, or romantic suspense.
This finale to the Playhouse of Horrors series is utter perfection. When the authors stated it was more violent and gory than the previous books, I had my doubts. If you have read books 1 and 2, you would understand why I had my doubts. They weren't overexaggerating, though. Not in the slightest.
It IS more of everything. More violence. More gore. More spice. More twisted scenarios. I loved every bit of it.
There were definitely parts where I was very shocked and swore my eyeballs couldn't open any wider while clutching my face. I don't think I'll ever get those scenes out of my head. They were so messed up and also amazing.
**Check your Triggers* This book has heavy heavy triggers.
I loved this series. I love that it just kept getting more and more messed up as it went. Just when I thought I had this book figured out, I totally did not! This book give you the anxiety of being hunted with the characters and made you question everything small detail. It kept me up at night and the suspense was intense! And if after the first two books you thought it couldn't get any more darker or twisted or have any more gore.. You're wrong. This was a great ending to this series! I cant wait to see more from this author!
5 Star Rating 5 Skull Dread Rating Check your triggers :-) I absolutely loved "Playhouse of Horrors: Book 3" by Cora Masters and Georgia Wells! The entire series is fantastic, with captivating visuals and gripping writing that kept me hooked from start to finish. It was so much fun to read, and I found myself wishing I could experience the series all over again. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys dark and thrilling stories!
They think they’re free from Sam until a message in blood is written on their front door. Then they run and run until they run back home. Where Sam has set up another dollhouse for them to play in.
Yet, the story is full of smut and dark action along the way so definitely be aware of that. This ending is definitely not for the faint of heart but for sure the best ending for this crazy couple.
Thus was both my favorite and last favorite of the series! This book taught me that I value my knees and my eyes miss than the other books did. I was actuality gagging through this one! But that is also why I loved it! I don't know how accurate some of these punishments were but holy hell they were so descriptive and the spicy scenes omg! Currently going through my whorror phase and living the journey!!

(‼️Disclaimer‼️ heavily triple check, your trigger warnings)
This is an insane and intense book and definitely wayyyyy darker then the other two. There were some scenes that could’ve easily been left out but that’s just my opinion though either way I love this book definitely not for the squeamish peeps and maybe hold off the snacks while reading this I definitely had to look away at some parts but such a great read! Spicy rating: 5x🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
This is the conclusion to this insane series and I can honestly say I will never be the same after reading this series, it will forever live in the recesses of my mind. Just when I thought things couldn't get more intense and crazy there were more jaw-dropping moments. It's so messed up but you just can't look away from the horror. I recommend this series if you're into this genre it was a WILD ride.
I really didn't think that Drake and Dahlia could get any more twisted. But this book proved me wrong. They are seriously demented and I love it. They're on the run from Owen AKA Sam yeah still find time to torture and kill for their twisted pleasure.

What an epic finale to the series! Embracing the Night was definitely more twisted than the first two in the series. After all, the authors did warn us ;)
This series was filled with suspense and just when I thought it couldn't get more twisted...it definitely did. The ending was the perfect conclusion to the series and very well done.
This book is a fantastic conclusion to the series and by far the darkest.
Always check the TW.
This did not disappoint. It is dark. It is GOREY. It is simply fantastic. If you love dark books and are looking for something that makes your jaw drop..This one. This is it. I highly recommend this series.
Wow!! This book had me slack jawed at the edge of my seat. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. As gruesome as it was, I really enjoyed it (all of the playhouse horrors actually). This story will not be for everyone and that's okay! Please check the author's content warnings.
It was a good finish to the series. Happy that I actually read it. Great Gore factor. Being a body horror fan this definitely fit the bill for a dark romance / Gore. Quite liked Drake in the long run who really only was looking out for Dahlia. Had some Shockers through this book but was very well put together
i got to page 141 before i DNF the book. i thought i didn’t have any triggers/boundaries when it came to books. i read the first 2 with no issues & they were my first horror romances. but cutting off marco’s d*ck and using it as a D*CK SLEEVE FOR DRAKE AND HIM GETTING OFF ON IT is a new level of f*cked up that i can’t read.

I really wanted to love this one as much as I loved the first two, but I found it difficult to get into. This one was very dark and disturbing, which doesn’t usually bother me, but some parts of this book were a bit much for me.
This was a fun third book in the Playhouse of Horrors series. There are lots of trigger warnings (as with the previous books) so approach with caution.
