Angelo loves his fish tank. But what happens when a new fish moves in? This new series is perfect for fans of Elephant and Piggie! Angelo the angel fish lives in an awesome fish tank. He has a cozy cave (his), a terrific treasure chest (also his), and a bubbly bubble man (his again). But then a new fish gets dropped into the tank. And suddenly, Angelo has to share?! This adorable and hilarious picture book from two-time Geisel Honor recipient Jonathan Fenske teaches kids that sharing can be fun when you have a friend by your side.
Jonathan Fenske is the author and illustrator of the leveled readers Woodward and McTwee, Love Is in the Air, Guppy Up!, and A Pig, a Fox, and a Box, which was a 2016 Geisel Honor book. He is also the author of two picture books, Barnacle Is Bored and its follow-up, Plankton Is Pushy. Jonathan lives in South Carolina with his family.
A book ideal for children who have difficulty sharing with their peers, and kids with materialistic values. Could also be helpful to kids who don't have the issues mentioned earlier, to give them a solution/strategies when they're faced with a similar social situation. The story starts with a smug angelfish bragging about his possessions and belongings. But when a new fish drops into his fishtank, it wipes the smirk off his face. The book ends with a nice, heartwarming conclusion. It teaches children that having a lot (of possessions) doesn't help with being lonely, and that having friends to share things with and play together is much more fun than to do it alone.
Sharing isn't easy. Change isn't easy. Dealing with both is doubly hard. When a new fish comes to the tank, Angelfish struggles. What will it take to make the new fish understand that everything belongs to Angelfish?
More than the story, I love the expressions on these characters. The illustrations make the story! A rather selfish fish comes to like the new guy in the tank but doesn't actually change his possessive ways.
This was fantastic. A fish owns everything in his fish bowl: his treasure chest, his bubble man, everything. But when a new fish plops in, how will the old fish learn to share? I loved the obliviousness and happiness of the goldfish.
This is a cute story time type book about sharing. A good amount of alliteration makes for a good read aloud and the pictures are humorous and easy to see.
Amusing story about a fish who learns to share its tank along with the pieces inside it. The larger fish learns to share and to enjoy having a friend. An amusing ending as he claims the new friend as "mine" when other fish join them. Brightly colored illustrations draw readers in.
