What happens when you combine one meddling mother, a bargain with a billionaire, and a woman who has no time for men?

Either a recipe for love… or a piping hot midlife mess.

After the man she thought she’d spend forever with robbed her blind then disappeared, forcing her to move back into her childhood home, Abby Lentine has picked up the pieces and started over. Now she runs her own little coffee truck and saves every penny so she can eventually move out. Again.

You can imagine Abby’s reluctance when a beautiful billionaire starts showing up at her truck every day, determined to break past her walls. But when he suggests one fake date—as a favor, nothing more—she can’t say no.

Because Abby may be anti-love, but she’s not anti-lust. And this man has her feeling all of that.

Thank you to Jessalyn Jameson for allowing me to read a copy of this book. I loved every page of this book. Abby's initials and last name spelling out what it did was such a fun, yet nice touch to add in. How Abby and Emmett's relationship progressed naturally while still not having to sacrifice their own values was really nice. Overall, the reading experience was wholesome, sweet, and I wish it was longer and I got to spend more time with these characters.

This later in life romance about two forty-something year olds is about Abby, currently a coffee food truck owner and Emmett, tech billionaire. Emmett goes for a walk to clear his head after receiving a wedding invitation to attend his ex wife and ex best friend/business partner's nuptials. Understandably he is in turmoil and he discovers a beautiful, feisty redhead at a food truck selling coffee, who he is immediately attracted to.

Abby, previously a chef and bistro owner, has been hurt badly and left in tremendous debt by her ex husband, and the last thing she wants is to become involved with another man. But something about Emmett's pain and vulnerability, and him not allowing himself to be bitter and be willing to try again, speaks to her own hurt and his caring soothes her fragile heart.

She agrees to attend the wedding with him as his plus one and things spiral between them as they allow themselves to freely love one another physically. But what happens afterwards?

This story was heartwarming and the characters were well developed with a vulnerability that was endearing as they tentatively started their walk down a new path together. There was swearing and a number of detailed sexual scenes.

The only thing that I felt was off was the timing of their first meeting and then her accompanying him to the wedding. I might have remembered that part incorrectly as I recall the wedding being in two weeks time at the start of the book yet the timeframe felt too long between their first meet up and them attending the wedding.

This was a refreshing read about older protagonists and both characters were very likeable. I wish that the ending had been more detailed, the book ended rather abruptly and a distant peep into their future would have rounded off their story completely. I rate this book 4.25* and I really enjoyed it.

Abby doesn't believe in love anymore. Not after her ex-husband stole all the money from their bistro and left her. Now she's running a coffee truck and living back home with her parents. In her 40's.
Emmett's ex-wife left him for his best friend and business partner, and now they've invited him to their wedding - a mere couple of months after the divorce. Talk about pouring salt in the wound!
Emmett meets Abby at her coffee truck one morning after she had an incident with a particularly rude customer. He orders a coffee and asks her out. He doesn't really even know why. Dating should be the last thing on his mind. But he finds himself seeking out her truck early every morning to get a coffee. He doesn't even drink coffee!
Nonetheless, he's determined to get her to go to the wedding with him. He thinks he could endure it if she were by his side. While Abby's determined to keep Emmett at arm's length, swearing she's not ready to move on, her mother - bless her meddling heart - has other ideas.
And there's so much chemistry between them, soon Abby can't deny it either. But can they move on with the specter of their exes overshadowing them?
Oh! The banter and the slow burn! You can understand Abby's reluctance to let someone in again, but the buildup is just delicious!
This series is becoming addictive!.

I loved this story; I loved the chemistry and the banter, and the confrontation with the ex wife. I loved pretty much everything about it. I was even team Abby when she was trying so hard to set boundaries with her mother, and get her parents to understand her NEED to be self-sufficient.... however, she was also incredibly brittle and needlessly confrontational in several moments, and eventually her need for self-sufficiency became an unhealthy obsession and it was hurtful to not only herself but those who cared for (or wanted to care for) her. The author managed to evoke a big emotional response from me with what happened when her mother and Elliott met and the aftermath. Her mom definitely needed more boundaries, but Abby also needed to realize that the actions of her ex husband didn't negate the goodness in every other person she met. For me, while it was understandable, and the author did an amazing job with this story, I felt like Abby was just too far in the bitter category for most of it and that's the only reason it's not my favorite read of the last few months; but that speaks volumes because it's an excellent, superbly well-written story with a lot of feeling and a satisfying, grown-up, and realistic relationship at the heart of the story. 100% a recommended read, because it's funny, emotional, and spicy.

Abby is starting over in every sense in her 40ies after her ex robbed her and disappeared. She is now living with her parents and operating a coffee truck and that is all she thinks she needs. What she doesn’t need is a gorgeous guy stopping by her truck and relentlessly asking her out. But Emmett is smitten and really, really needs a date for his ex-wife’s wedding to his best friend. And when it comes down to it, neither of them can deny the strong attraction they have for each other.
What a lovely story! I absolutely loved Emmett, he is so sweet and funny and at the same time determined. And optimistic, as he doesn’t stay stuck with his broken heart but is ready to move on, given the chance. I generally don’t like billionaire romance, I mean it shouldn’t really matter how much money your love interest has as long as he can support himself, but the topic is handled in a subtle way here, he is a simple guy really and she is an independent business owner so everything is in balance. I can understand Abby's reluctance to love again and why she finally decides to give love (and Emmett) a chance. The book is a steamy one and I guarantee that after reading the penguin habitat scene you will never visit the zoo again without your mind going certain paths. Well spent reading time!.

Not Now Cupid is part of the Merry Midlife series. It's spicy, slow-burn, later in life, woman gets her billionaire romance. Abby is a disgruntled, newly divorced woman in her 40s. Her husband left her and stole the money from their bistro. Now she is back living with her parents, starting over and running a coffee truck. Emmett is a hunky billionaire whose wife left him for his best friend and business partner. Now they are getting married and have the audacity to invite him to their wedding. Emmett finds himself getting coffee at Abby's truck often even though he doesn't drink it. He's drawn to Abby and hopes to take her to the wedding. Abby is stubborn and bitter and has this need to prove she is self-sufficient. She honestly got on my nerves a bit. So did her well-intentioned mom, who didn't understand boundaries. I loved Emmett, and these two did have decent chemistry. I loved the snarky banter, and we did end on a happy note. Overall, this was a fun and spicy read.

Just finished reading Not Now, Cupid(Merry Little Midlife Book #2), was really awesome!!! All about Violet Abigail Linent is a chef, a divorcee who lives with her parents & owns a coffee food truck & Emmett Hampton a computer gaming guru, a divorcee who hates coffee. Emmett was invited to his ex-wife’s wedding to his ex-bff/business partner who had been cheating for over ten years unbeknownst to him. His assistant insisted that he goes to the wedding and brings a date. He goes out walking to clear his head when he stops to buy a coffee from Chitty Chitty Bean Bean from a beautiful red head. Read about Abby & Emmett and see how becoming united in a mutual goal is beneficial. Lots of emotion does occur, including lots of kissing & cuddling with some toe curling. Definite Read!!!!

Emmett and Abby match each others energy each step of the way and I am here for it! I am normally a dark romance kind of girl, but I personally loved this lighthearted change of pace! Jessalyn Jameson writes romance very well, and does a great job giving characters personalities that one might experience in real life, and not just ones found in romance novels. Abby experiencing doubts from previous heartbreak is just one example of that. We have all been hurt before, and it takes time to get back up and brush yourself off before trying again. This novella was a cute read, and I can’t wait for the next one!

Not Now, Cupid is the 2nd standalone novella in the Merry Little Midlife series. Emmett and Abby are both wonderfully loveable characters, a little 'dented' by life and hurt by their ex-partners. I loved how their different outlooks on falling in love again clash. Sparks fly, steamy scenes ensue and the positive outlook wins. The happy ending is fairly abrupt though and I would have loved an epilogue showing us their version of HEA.
I was fortunate to have received an advanced copy from the author and am leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.

When I saw this book, I knew I was going to read it solely because it was written by Jessalyn Jameson who by now we all know I am the biggest hype girl for. But I was so glad I did because it was truthfully the breath of fresh air I needed.

Not Now, Cupid was very different to my typical read, it was warm and fuzzy, it was romantic and gooey, and all the things I swoon over when I’m watching a romcom. Even the characters were slightly different then im used to. There was no broody MMC that had an unhealthy lifestyle or a morally gray hero and surprisingly I absolutely loved that.

Abby and Emmett made my heart so happy. They were the perfect pair, both matured and ready to lose the baggage and live their lives. Their connection from the start is undeniable and following along their journey of giving into each other had me smiling so hard the whole way.

The only emotions I felt during this book were happy and sappy and it really was truthfully what I needed to read without even knowing it.

Thank you so much Jessalyn for another book, another book boyfriend, and for know what I need as a reader before I do. You are truly talented!

(And I want to own a food truck now!)

Just in time for Valentines Day. This book was so good and will definitely have you hooked from the beginning until the end. Emmett's ex wife is getting married to his now ex best friend and ex business partner and they invited him to the wedding and now he needs a date. When he meets Abby will she agree to go with him? Abby has been hurt by her ex husband after he took all their money but when she meets Emmett and agrees to be his date will it back fire on her? Great story and enjoyable read!.

This was a really sweet, enjoyable read about Abby & Emmett. Both have dealt with heartbreakingly difficult divorces from their decades long partners, but will they be able to put all that hurt and heartbreak aside to move forward and learn to trust and give new love and feelings a chance? Enjoyable banter between the main characters, and the undercurrent of feelings built into a spicy & fiery crescendo on their “fake one night date” Will they accept they might be a match? They are very likeable character's, a lovely book! 🥰

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a cute and short read with a little bit of spice. Abby is left picking up the pieces after her divorce when she catches the eye of a tech billionaire, Emmett. He is also trying to rebuild his life after his divorce and losing his best friend. If you want a midlife, second chance at love romance this is for you.

A relatively short, sweet and funny story about a couple, both recovering from recent heartbreak. An uplifting story, in 2 person POV, which I like.
