I received a free copy of, Love In Provence, by Jo Thomas, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Del is in Provence, living her best life, until the love of her life goes away for awhile. Temptation arises like it does, will Del and Fabian stay together? This was a good read, but not my favorite by Jo Thomas.

Enjoyable but predictable. Nice to have a follow-up of the first Jo Thomas book that I read.

The writing was wonderfully descriptive without being too much and distracting you from the main story. I specifically enjoyed how the food and cooking was described. It gave an extra layer to the story, and pulled me in more.

There were so many emotional parts to the story, lots of ups and downs that kept my attention, but by the end I felt uplifted. The ending of a book for me is key and can make me change my mind about the rating overall. I would definitely give this book more than 5 stars if I could because of how the ending made me feel.

The chapters weren't overly long so the story kept moving. The descriptions of the area and the main character's thoughts and feelings slowed the story down, but in a good way.

There was a good flow to the book, which meant that I could easily read it for long periods of time without getting bored. Everything about the book kept me engaged.

The characters were great. The main character was so kind and loving, but she didn't always have a lot of confidence in herself due to her past. Whilst she wasn't always sure, she always looked on the bright side of things and got herself through the difficult situations with hard work and teamwork with the characters around her. I loved the fact that even though these characters had only just met, they were more than willing to help the main character out with any difficulties that she was having.

I loved reading the main character's thought processes at difficult times. It showed that no matter what happens you can get through it. A quote that I particularly took to, and which was repeated throughout the book, was "don't wait for life to stop being hard to be happy". I thought that was a wonderful sentiment.

The characters surrounding the main character were great to read about. They enhanced the main character's personality well and together their different personalities made for an interesting story.

Lastly the settings. As I have mentioned above, they were richly described, with the sights and smells all written about in an interesting way. This added an extra something to the story as well as grounding it well. It really made me want to visit Provence!

Overall a wonderful story full of love and emotion. A great Summer/holiday read which I highly recommend.

I've had the pleasure of reading Book One 'Escape to The Farmhouse' by Jo Thomas, so when I seen 'Love in Provence' I knew I had to catch up on Del and see what she was up to now. But don't worry if you haven't read book one as this book can be read as a standalone.
When Del moved to France three years ago she didn't expect everything to go straight forward which it didn't. Becoming single, and finding a job was all she was thinking about, she wasn't expecting to find someone special. Just as the lavender was ready to be harvest, Fabien was waving goodbye for the summer and heading off with the other band members. But with the lavender pickers, the community and her friends behind her she knew she could do this. The book shares the meaning of friendship and companionship.
I found this book an enjoyable read, one that you can pop into your holiday bag and take with you

What a treat it was to discover Love in Provence was a follow up to Escape to the French Farmhouse by Jo Thomas. It was an utter delight from start to finish to once again catch up with Del who resides in her farmhouse, Le Petit de la Mer, in the French countryside surrounded by lavender fields. I adored the first book and the plot, setting and characters came back to me quickly. New readers needn’t have read the first book as this can easily be read as a standalone and you’ll quickly get sucked into the story. Three years have passed since the last book and a lot of has happened. There is a lovely, relaxed feel to the story and there is enough backstory/recap provided so that you won’t feel as if you have missed out if you are new to these characters.

Del is happy living at the farmhouse and working at Henry’s Bistro in which she is now a partner. She is in a relationship with Fabien who runs the local brocante which is like an antiques business and he clears out houses and sells on the items for sale. Things are going well for Del but as the mistral wind blows through the village and the window of the bistro is shattered when a tree falls, Del feels changes are a foot and they mightn’t all be good or wanted. Del has learned and will come to comprehend even more throughout the course of the book that life is to be grabbed by both hands and the most must be made of every opportunity. Rhi, her best friend, arrives back to the village from her travels with unsettling and upsetting news which as well as the mistral is the catalyst for much change. Is Del ready to cope with everything that is about to be thrown in her path? Just when she thought things were settled in her new life in France. A life she had once never dreamed possible.

Rhi is distraught and brings the devastating news that her partner Henri, the stalwart of the village and owner of the bistro, has passed away. He was the heart of everything and now the soul has been ripped from the bistro and village not to mention Del has lost a dear friend who was a support and guide for her. They do say trouble comes in threes and with the bistro out of action until repairs can be made to the window and with Henri so abruptly taken from them Del is disgusted by the arrival of Henri’s son Zachaire who intends on turning the bistro into a fancy upmarket restaurant. So very different from what has been at the heart of the village for years. Everything she has worked for will be gone as he has scant regard for what Del and Henri achieved there.

I felt so sorry for Del in that things had been running smoothly for her and her love of cooking and food was being called into question. Ever since she had discovered a lavender cookbook on Fabien’s brocante her life had been turned around and now her security was being taken away from her. Her professional life is not off to a good start in this book and the personal side takes a nosedive too when Fabien is given the opportunity to go on the road with the band, he once played with. This will take him away from the village and as they have both already been so busy the opportunities to spend time with each other seeming to be growing slimmer and slimmer.

It soon became clear that Del had an awful lot of balls to juggle and even more so when the lavender harvest is ready and despite the fact she has seasonal workers coming she feels she can’t do it without Fabien by her side. She is scared that with Fabien gone they will drift apart. That perhaps they haven’t worked hard enough on their relationship. Throughout the book she is anxious and filled with doubt and when her love and inspiration for cooking abandons her and threatens to make the workers leave she is in a very desperate situation. Can she make the harvest a success? Can she prevent Zachaire from turning the bistro into something totally unrecognisable from its previous incarnation with all its associated history? Will her relationship withstand distance and rumours?

Lavender and cooking play a huge role in this story and once again Jo Thomas will have your mouth watering at all the fabulous descriptions of French home cooked food. Food becomes a source of healing for Del as she attempts to get over the loss of Henri and power on with the harvest. But she can’t do it alone and the varied cast of characters that come to help each have their own little story too tell. There are too many to individually mention here but suffice to say the author worked her magic and made it feel as if each character had their own story and personal journey to share. There was a reason they were all gathered together to work the lavender season at the farmhouse and they arrived at just the point when Del needed guidance and support. There are many ups and downs for Del and it's as if she is navigating a stormy sea and riding the crests of waves. One minute she is up and positive and the next something occurred which brought her right back down again struggling to grasp for air.

Without Fabien by her side she feels adrift, but I loved how old familiar faces made reappearances as well as the new workers at the farmhouse and together they spurred Del on when she had reached her lowest point. The ideas that unfolded in order to try and get the bistro up and running again were fabulous and I could envision it all happening so clearly in my mind thanks to the wonderfully descriptive writing from the author. There was a real sense of community spirit, friendship, helping others and being united as one for a common cause and it did so very naturally. That’s how the pace, the plot and character development felt overall. Just so very natural , engaging and enjoyable and that’s what made the pages fly by and had me feeling as if I had been whisked away to France when in reality I was sitting on the couch as another grey and dreary day lingered outside. I loved the ending. It was pure perfection and these words were so apt for the themes explored in the book and readers will take great comfort from them.’Don’t wait for things to get better - to be less complicated. Learn to be happy right now.’

Love in Provence is pure escapism and the most perfectly holiday read. Jo Thomas never disappoints and her twice yearly publications are always something I look forward to immensely. This is a wonderful, feel good story that has an air of magic about it where the characters are likeable and relatable and you’ll be rooting for them the whole way in the hopes of them achieving a happy ending. Some authors write a sequel to a story where it is not needed at all but here this was such a fabulous story so well told. Del and her friends and family certainly deserved a return visit. I wonder will Jo revisit old characters in her next summer book? But in the meantime Jo ‘s Christmas book, Christmas in the Swiss Alps, will be with us later this year and I know it’s way too early to be thinking about Christmas books but I have to do say I do love a Christmas themed story from this author and I already have it on my wishlist. In the meantime you won’t go far wrong with this treat of a read so do yourself a favour and grab a copy as soon as you possibly can.

Love in Provence is Jo Thomas' first follow-up book, returning to Del and Fabien who we first met in Escape to the French Farmhouse (but don't worry if you haven't read that one as Love in Provence works perfectly as a standalone read). Once again I have been completely transported to beautiful Provence for a tale of love, friendship and food.

Three years have passed and Del has never regretted her move to France and taking on the lavender harvest at her farmhouse, Le Petit Mas de la Lavande. She's also cooking after her friend Henri's bistro and life is good. But life comes with ups and downs and change is afoot. Will Del weather the storm?

A group of people come to the farm to assist with the lavender harvest and they help to make up a cast of characters that I loved reading about. Thomas always manages to make me wish I was there with them, sharing the delicious food and drink and being a part of the camaraderie that takes place around the table. Although love is a part of the storyline, this book is very much about friendships, both old and new, and their restorative power. I just loved how everybody pulled together when things got tough.

Love in Provence has everything I love about Jo Thomas' books. It has the setting full of atmosphere and local charm, the food that I could practically smell and taste, characters that I really cared about, and a story to warm the cockles of my heart. I loved every word.

This was my first book by Jo Thomas and I really enjoyed it. There is a book that comes before but I found this fine as a stand alone and was never missing information. It’s a great little summer read and I felt like it captured the South of France perfectly.

The writing is lovely and I can see that the author is able to capture the feel of a place really well and her writing feels like pure escapism. It’s a very descriptive style of writing but easy to read.

The characters are likeable and you want things to work out, I love a HEA this book made me smile.

A book you can simply lose yourself in. Especially the case with the weather at the minute - Jo Thomas’s description of a rural French town and the rolling lavender fields made me forget about the rain for a minute.

This is a great beach read, easy to pick up as and when and the cover screams just that.

I really felt for Del, she had done so well and then lots of things happened to bring her down. To me she came across as a strong character.

If you love a contemporary romance then grab a copy of Jo Thomas’ Love in Provence.

Not a bad little book but not as good as some of her previous novels, I found it difficult to connect with Del and the characters. I also found it quite prescriptive and not as exciting plot wise as it could have been.

Let me start by saying I love the cover of this book, it is definitely what attracted me to it initially, that and the title. I have read a few books now by Jo Thomas and I can always count on her transporting me away to some beautiful idyllic location, and immerse myself in the local culture and cuisine. This book was no different.

We are transported to the beautiful Provence. Del moved to the south of France three years ago and hasn't looked back. She’s found new friends, new purpose, and is in love. It is a story of love, strong friendships and people coming together as a community to help each other.

What I didn't know when I requested or indeed started the book is that is is a sequel to a previous book called "Escape to the French Farmhouse". I wish I had known this previously and read the first book as there was some things I think I missed like character back stories that didn't really make sense to me and possibly hindered some my enjoyment of this book. That being said it was an easy read and I could smell the lavender fields in my imagination as I read the book. A perfect summer read!

2,5 ⭐️ The story started very slow. I even thought about DNF’ing this book. But I reconsidered, and happy that I did. After page 150 the pace started to come into the story and it got enjoyable. About friends, family, cooking and Provence 🫶🏼

I thought this was a bit disappointing, as I can't say I felt very involved with the characters. It is a follow-on from "Escape to The French Farm house" which as it happens was the first book I read by this author, and is a much better book. This was one of those books which passed the time but won't be one I remember.

If you ever wondered what happened to Del and Fabien and their lavender farm in Provence, wait no longer because here it is.

Things are going pretty well, Henri and Rhi are travelling the world together while Del manages their restaurant Henri's, she and Fabien are busy, although his brocant is not as busy as they would like. Then the infamous mistral descends leaving behind it a literal trail of destruction and some tragic news. Afraid she might be holding Fabien too close, Del encourages him to go on tour with his old band when one of the band members injures himself, but that leaves her alone to manage the lavender harvest and the itinerant pickers at a time when her brain feels totally foggy.

AS Del lurches from one crisis to another her livelihood and her romance appear to be at risk, can she, her friends, and a bunch of misfits here for the lavender picking make everything right?

I enjoyed this, but I felt some of the drama was a bit manufactured, I would have enjoyed seeing Del and Fabien again without the angst.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley.

Bumped for release.

Love in Provence, as you can guess, is set in Provence, France and follows the main character, Del, while she deals with life's ever-changing challenges and a mischievous mistral that has blown through the town.

I loved the setting for the book, especially the beautiful lavender farm where Del lives. I also really liked Del as a main character, her determination throughout the book and how much she looked out for her chosen family.

I rated this book 3 stars, I did enjoy it and it was a nice easy read but it didn't blow me away. I would recommend this for someone as a holiday/summer read who is looking for a book with themes of romance, found family and inspiring stories.

Love in Provence is the latest book from one of my favourite authors, Jo Thomas. I always enjoy her books with their fabulous settings, delectable food descriptions and gorgeous romances. Even after I’d read just a few chapters and I wanted to go back to Provence (it’s been far too long) and have a bowl of bouillabaisse – and I don’t even like bouillabaisse! I must start with a confession though: I didn’t realise that this was a follow up to Escape to the French Farmhouse, one of Jo Thomas’s books which somehow I had missed. However, I was easily able to enjoy this as the author weaved enough of Delphine’s back story into the narrative to give me a flavour of the first book.

Summer seems to have finally arrived here in Edinburgh and as I finished this outside in the sunshine, I could almost imagine I was in Provence. All I needed was the fragrance of lavender and Provencal herbs drifting the warm air along with delicious smells emanating from Del’s kitchen. The setting is just wonderfully depicted and I could imagine the beautiful lavender fields and the pretty village with its boulangeries and bistros.

The book begins at a time of great change for Del. Her business partner and friend has died, Feeling it’s important to seize opportunities, she encourages her partner Fabien to go on one more tour with his band which she quickly comes to regret. she feels like she’s losing her mind. Cooking has always been a big part of Delphine’s French life but she find that dishes she could prepare with no recipe, almost by instinct, seemed to have slipped from her mind and she’s worried there’s something wrong with her. Her business partner’s estranged son has appeared on the scene and has very different ideas about how to take the bistro business forward.

I loved meeting all the lavender pickers and finding out about their lives. They were such a wonderful group of characters, perhaps with one exception, who have come together by chance and are all there for their own reasons. Change was a strong theme in their stories too and it was good to see how they all came to realise exactly what was important to them. Despite being very different kinds of people, they bonded and became a close knit group of supportive friends.

As ever with a Jo Thomas book, food is at the centre. Certain dishes are strongly associated of with memories of people and making food is definitely seen as an act of love. The descriptions of the many meals cooked by Delphine and her friends has my mouth watering, especially when merguez were mentioned. They are one of the first things we buy when we go on holiday to France – I just adore them! Having read about the delicious foods. I am inspired to make coq au vin or daube in the coming weeks. It was interesting to read that lavender is widely used in cooking including in the famous herbes de Provence. I had lavender scones once and I have to admit I wasn’t a fan but on reading this book, I suspect too much lavender was used making them taste too strong!

Love in Provence is another sure-fire winner from Jo Thomas. With its beautiful French setting, heartfelt emotions, a focus on the importance of friendship and of course, mouth-watering food descriptions, let this book to transport you to the lavender fields of Provence this summer.

After three years in the South of France, Del feels like she has found happiness on the lavender farm Le Petit Mas with gorgeous younger man Fabian, splitting her time between the lavender, indulging her love for cooking at Henri's bistro, and enjoying the company of all the friends she has made in Provence.

Just as things seem to be falling in place for Del, Fabian and this little community, the Mistral wind blows in a turn in their fortunes. Out of the blue, bad news arrives, followed closely by Henri's contentious son, chef Zacharie, who has ambitious plans for the bistro that don't include Del, and Fabian is called away for the summer. Del is not sure how she will cope with the lavender harvest about to come in, or with the loss of income from the bistro, and just as she needs to be on her game to feed the pickers who are about to arrive, she suddenly forgets all the cookery skills that Henri has taught her... Can the community of friends, old and new, pull together to make the summer a success?

For her latest lovely, escapist gem, Jo Thomas returns to the story of Del from her earlier book, Escape to the French Farmhouse. But do not worry if you have not read about Del's previous French adventures, as Thomas includes just enough about her past life to fill you in with everything you need to know to immerse yourself completely in this book.

Just as Del thinks she is sailing in smooth waters, Thomas throws a host of new challenges her way, which make her realise that she has perhaps, been spreading herself too thin and neglecting the important things in her life - something she vowed she would never do. As a result her insecurities start to rise to the surface, especially when it comes to the age gap between her and Fabian.

For me, it is the way the new characters among this season's lavender pickers begin to blossom that makes this story - 'digital nomad' Jen, older gay couple Graham and Keith, quiet Maria and her brash Aussie boyfriend Marco, and promising lawyer Ed. Over the course of the book we gradually learn about their own relationship troubles, empty nest worries, and quests for belonging, and in pulling together to support Del they find their own way forward too - not necessarily in the directions they had anticipated.

As expected, Thomas focuses the themes she writes about so well, love, friendship, finding your way, second chances, community... and of course, food... weaving them through a story that runs the gamut of your emotions. There are misunderstandings and mishaps galore, tense confrontations, and anger inducing rotters to contend with, but everything turns out well in the end with lashings of lovely bonding over yummy food, and Thomas' trademark twist of a reconciliation you never see coming. Ahh...

I took the lavender pickers to my heart (except for Marco) and really did not want to let them go at the end of the story. I really hope Jo Thomas revisits Provence once more, as I really need to know what happens next! Heart warmed, and tears shed... and recipes at the end to keep the delicious French vibes going. All round another winner from Jo Thomas!

What a sweet story. Anyone looking for a nice holiday vacation read, some relaxation and escapism from clutter and stress, and those wanting a charming, warm, and inviting read, will enjoy this one.

I would like to thank Random House UK, Transworld Publishers for providing me with an advance readers copy via access to the galley for free through the NetGalley program.

The Story
Takes place in France, as a modern-day contemporary.

This was a continuation of the story in Escape to the French Farmhouse by Jo Thomas, which was my favorite of the two I’d say.

I think this one could be read as a standalone, as the background story was nicely referenced and I needed a refresher.

Touched on many joys and celebrations of life, some met with disappointment and tragedy, all was conveyed in a delicate, yet deep enough manner to appreciate the circumstances for what they were. Realistic and true to each character as they faced a self-reflective path.

Strong sense of community and hope. Charm and funny bits.

Of course, with mentions of delicious food and drink. From bouillabaisse, coq au vin, garlicky potatoes, chocolate mousse, nougat, and soft vanilla ice cream served with a drizzle of warmed honey and crumbled almonds on top.

The Writing
I thoroughly enjoyed the descriptions, capturing the ambience so well and transporting me to the very scene.

The characters deepening relationship was intriguing. I did expect a little more unique surprise than there was, but it was compelling nonetheless.

Though there some bits that felt recurring in episode and with the introduction of as many new characters as there ended up being, with the glimpses into their lives turning to be a bigger role in the story, and the several things they were doing, it was just starting to become more than what I could keep track of at times. Plus I’m not sure exactly what the point and need of Ed’s mistakingly presumed character tidbit was all about. That part felt try-hardy, as was the response conversation, perhaps his entire role, not advancing the story nor helping me become any more immersed. He was annoying and then they all started to annoy me. I found myself wanting to pair down and out. Became a bit circular I suppose, I did skim a bit, but then the end scooped my interest back up.

I can’t comment on the recipes since I received an early copy without them, but I imagine they’d be lovely.

Was definitely planning the menu for the week.

Always looking forward to more. Such a lovely escape in these story collections. Light, yet sentimental, refreshing, and satisfying.

Makes me want to go everywhere and try everything.

I had no idea this was a follow-on book from Escape to a French Farmhouse. I adored that book when I read it so what a wonderful; surprise when I realised that I was to return to the lavender fields, to Del and Fabien and all the other delights of the French region of Provence.

Del and Fabien have been running the Farmhouse, lavender fields, antique furniture shop, and cooking at Henri's Bistro. They have been flat-out helping others and as much as they are still mad about each other, there are a few doubts. There is an age difference, it doesn't bother Fabien but as Del is older than him, she does worry.

Before they know it the lavender harvest is upon them. As they have done before, there is a group of volunteers that have made their way to the farmhouse and they will help to bring in the blooms in exchange for accommodation and food. They are made up of people from Australia, one from the UK and one travelling from Spain. They all have their reasons for taking the time to travel and also work by picking the flowers.

The author introduces Del's guests and we gradually get to know them over the first chapters of the book, this is then developed as the story progresses. Things are not plain sailing for Del as Fabien goes away during the harvest and so she is left to run the show. She is not by herself as she has help from her friends who return from the previous book.

There is also some shocking and unexpected news and this turns things upside down, it means making new plans and decisions. It is a chance for others to show their strengths and for new friendships to be formed. The food is something that features heavily in this author's books and once again she has some amazing dishes and menus. Food and friendship is a theme that her stories wrap around.

This is a book that the author has returned to and gives the reader a fabulous chance to return to the area and once again meet fabulous people. It is a chance to stop and evaluate choices and decisions in the lives of those at the farmhouse. For taking a long hard look at the important things and for looking to the future. Another gorgeous story and one I would definitely recommend.

The Blurb :
Del moved to the south of France three years ago and hasn’t looked back. She’s found new friends, new purpose, and new love with gorgeous Fabien.
But just as harvest on her little lavender farm is due to begin, Del gets some shocking news. With no time to dwell as she welcomes a new crew of lavender pickers, she unexpectedly waves goodbye to Fabien for the summer.
Usually cooking – the thing she loves best – would help soothe her troubles, but Del doesn’t remember how . . . And then chef Zacharie comes to town, dropping another bombshell!
Over one summer in Provence that’s full of surprises, friends old and new rally round. Can they complete the harvest and pull the community back together? And if Fabien returns, will Del finally get her happy-ever-after?

My Thoughts :
This book is a sequel to Escape to the French Farmhouse, which I didnt know and I am a little sad not to of read the first book as I am sure it would of established the story a bit more for me but not to worry as it can be read as a standalone.
We are back with Del who moved to the south of France three years ago to live on a Lavender farm.
There she met her boyfriend, Fabien and started cooking at her friend Henri's Bistro. Life couldnt be better for Del but that is until Henri suddenly passes away.
When Henri's son Zacharie turns up and takes over running the business which does not include Del, she needs to try hard to make some money fast and she also has to employ some new people to help with the lavender harvest. Which we soon learn all have a story to tell.
Fabien is also unable to help as he has gone on a tour with the band for the Summer.
As things suddenly turn bad for Del after the mistral turns up, can the help of her new friends and the community pull together and get her back on her feet again!?.
Jo Thomas has a knack of transporting the reader to beautiful places. She will immerse us into the story and its always full of delicious mouth watering cusine, idylic sunny surroundings and real characters to fall in love with. Escapism at its best.
A great story once again, looking forward to more from Jo Thomas in the future.

This is the first book that I have read by Jo Thomas and I really enjoyed it, the only disappointment was finding that it was a sequel to a previous book that would have given me a better insight into the characters, having said that it can certainly be read as a standalone.
This is a good, old fashioned love story with a bit of angst thrown in for good measure.
Del had left England to live in France, she loved her life, she partnered her good friend, Henri at the Bistro and loved cooking the traditional dishes that he had taught her, she loved her life with Fabien although she did have twinges of insecurity at being ten years his senior, she loved the lavender farm, the lavender soothed her soul, she loved the wonderful friends that she had made, they were like family to her.
Del was happy to take over the Bistro when Henri and Rhi decided to travel, she knew that if everyone pulled together it would work...........but the the mistral came and everything changed.
Tragic news turned Del's idyllic world upside down, money was tight, the mistral had caused damage, the lavender pickers were due, she would have to feed them but more worryingly she would have to pay them. To add to Del's misery, Fabien was called away by the band that he used to play with, they desperately needed a bass guitarist, with a heavy heart, Del encouraged him to go but was it the right thing to do, he would be with people his own age doing something that he loved...........and then there was Zacharie !
This author has wonderful descriptive powers, the meals sound scrumptious, I could practically smell the lavender and picture the cobbled streets.

3.5 stars rounded up
Del moved from the UK to the south of France three years ago and has settled happily into the community with new friends, a new love with Fabien and a new life running her lavender farm and cooking at Henri's, the local bistro. At the beginning of the lavender harvesting season, however, a mistral blows in causing damage and bringing trouble with it. Del receives devastating news both personal and financial, Fabien unexpectedly has to leave for a few weeks and Del seems to have lost her ability to cook just as a group of workers arrive to pick lavender for the next three weeks. As the problems mount, Del must find innovative solutions or face leaving her beloved farm behind to return to the UK.

A few pages into reading Love in Provence, I realized that it was a sequel to another book (Escape to the French Farmhouse). I enjoyed it as a standalone as there is just the right amount of backstory included but I regretted a little bit not having read the other book first as I'm sure I would have enjoyed the story of how Del settled in Provence and fell in love with Fabien.

I have read several books by Jo Thomas and find that she is a reliable author for light, enjoyable reads set in beautiful locations - Provence in this case. Love in Provence is a charming story of friends, love and community filled with mouth-watering descriptions of the delcious food of the region. It's a perfect summer escape that had me reminiscing about my own visit to Provence several years ago - I missed lavender season and want to return when the lavender is blooming!

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House UK for sending a digital ARC of this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Escape to the beautiful lavender fields of Provence this summer

My Opinion

Love in Provence has a lovely cover, it really appealed to me. Jo Thomas is an author that I just enjoy reading - so this was a must read for me.

For me, the sign of a good book is if I can't stop thinking about it. I read the first four chapters of this book and then had to put it down - I spent the whole day wishing I could return. Full of friendships and a sense of community this was a real page-turner. A charming tale, with some great descriptions.

With this book Jo Thomas has taken me on a trip - I feel like I have had a short holiday without even needing to pack a suitcase.

How wonderful it was to be back in Provence, and in Del's life. I hadn't twigged until I started reading that this was clearly a sequel to Escape to the French Farmhouse, purely as I don't read blurbs of Jo Thomas books, I just know I want to read them as she is always awesome.

And this was absolutely no exception, as I devoured this book over the course of a evening, and was very lucky to not miss my stop on the tube. I've discovered over the years that reading a Jo Thomas novel on a train / tube means the journey goes fast, the pages turn fast and I am oblivious to the outside world around me! Such is my level of immersion.

You could practically smell the lavender as you are reading this, and there are so many mouth watering meals described that it's no wonder I was hungry by the end of the book (despite having eaten not that long before!).

Catching up with old friends in this story, as well as making new ones, this is showing the Del was living her best life until a Mistral swept into town and turned things a bit topsy turvy, which added to the drama and intrigue of the book.

There is absolutely nothing going smoothly, and it takes the whole community to get involved to help her.

I just loved everything about this book, it conjures up the feeling of summer, even while reading it out of season, and is full of love. I couldn't get enough of this, and certainly would be happy if there was yet another book set here.

Thank you to Penguin and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
