Oh! great, whose real name is Ito Ōgure (大暮維人 Ōgure Ito) is a Japanese manga artist most recognized for the manga series Tenjho Tenge and Air Gear. In 2006, he received the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen for Air Gear. Apart from working with manga, he designed some of the alternate character outfits in the PlayStation 2 version of Namco's 3D fighting game Tekken 5, and a guest character in Soul Calibur IV named Ashlotte.

His pseudonym "Oh! great" is a play on words. His pen name, written in Japanese order, is "Ōgure Ito", which is pronounced similarly to and can be romanized the same as the Japanese rendering of the English words "Oh great," ōgurēto. Furthermore, "Oh" can mean "king" in Japanese, making it possible to read the name as "the great king".

Aya Natsume

More nudity (and an actual proper sex scene this time)! More fights! More drama and relationship developments and backstory reveals! Wow! This volume actually had a bit too much fighting for my taste, and it got a bit dull. Something that I never mentioned in my previous review is that this series is actually funny at times, which is cool. I wish Oh!Great-sensei didn't ruin my favourite character Takanahashi by making him a gross, rape-y thoughts pervert.

Hahaha I'm depressed and don't feel like doing anything that I like doing which includes writing proper reviews haha nice.

So Funny

Really live this manga and the illustration style. This is where the story starts to get serious while still holding a bit of sense of humor. Crass, rude, fun and action packed; vol 2 of TenTen is funny and entertaining as well as an introduction into the serious Arc of last transgressions.

Synopsis:

Soichiro, Bob, and the rest of the Juken Club are split up and attacked one-on-one by the strongest members of the Executive Council. A round of face-crushing battle begins, with the opponents on both sides driven by very personal reasons for the fight. Things seem to be swinging the Juken Club's way...until the last player arrives on the scene: Mitsuomi Takayanagi, the monstrously powerful chairman of the Executive Council. In the aftermath of the battle Maya Natsume, head of the Juken Club, decides to drop out of school, leaving the other members to wonder about the fate of the club--and about the strange bond between Mitsuomi and Maya.

My Thoughts:

There's a ton of fighting in this volume. Considering this is pretty much a martial arts manga, that's not too surprising. It's very violent and all of the clothes ripping continues to be present. These guys wear some weak ass clothes, man.

Anyway, we discover a few things in this volume. We learn that the Executive Council Chairman is Takayanagi's older brother, Mitsuomi Takayanagi. Therefore, going forward, I'll just refer to those two by their first names; it's easier. We also learn that there's serious history between Maya and Mitsuomi that centers around Maya and Aya's deceased older brother. It's likely very tragic and by the end of the volume, we're getting a flashback to how Maya and Mitsuomi met and we get to see that Shin was also close with Mitsuomi. I'm looking forward to see just what happened between those two. Shin is dead, but Maya reveals something about Mitsuomi that I really wasn't expecting. He's got his own troubles as well. It also seems like he's still in love with Maya and he isn't the only one.

Aya was already suspecting it and it looks like she was right to be worried. This is likely going to change things quite a bit. It's not Maya's fault who Soichirou fell for, but I don't think Aya will be able to get past it. With the kind of power Aya possesses, I'm worried about her. Especially after the way she was acting during that fight with Tagami. And then Soichirou goes and admits it out loud and weird phenomena start happening around Aya. This could go really bad if she can't get a grip on her emotions.

Speaking of Soichirou, that guy is pretty strong. With more talent, he could be even scarier in a fight. Right now, though, he can't beat Mitsuomi, but who knows what the future will have? And then there's Bob. He's not quite as strong as the others, yet, but I think he'll get there. Mitsuomi certainly seems to see potential in him. I really want to know what Mitsuomi thinks of his little brother Masataka. Masataka can't take Mitsuomi right now, either, but I'm guessing he's not really the one that's meant to do that. I'm looking forward to seeing where things go from here.

The volume two omnibus covering volumes 3 and 4 of the original series but uncensored. This book continues the bowling alley brawl and shows the consequences of each character that thinks their fists are the answers to every encounter.

This volume also begins a tale relating to the past before Soichiro, Bob, and Aya showed up at the school. I am looking forward to seeing what happened between Maya, her brother, and Mitsuomi in the next volume for sure.

As usual this book is not a had read because most characters, although they do banter, do not generally talk much save for the trash talks in the various fight scenes. Of course there are times outside of battles as well which leaves Oh!Great plenty of space for nude shots of the female characters or time for character development.

My favorite part of this book would have to be When Soichiro and Bob try to take their grievances to the Executive Council and they show both of them sometimes you need to use your head instead of your fists.

I'm glad Viz is putting out these two-in-one, uncensored releases. The manga doesn't just bring more sex and violence to the table, it brings deeper characterization and a fuller story. It's not new for a fighting series to ask what it means to be strong, but Tenjo Tenge makes one care about the characters' diverse answers.
