There's some very valuable information in this book; but there's also some very unnecessary, biased, racial supremacy talk that's difficult to overlook. Most of the remedies involve increased intake of vitamins, minerals, nutrients that any human being will find beneficial. Dr. Afrika strongly encourages a holistic approach to healing the body and this includes stepping away from a westernized diet. All the standards apply: avoid processed foods, prescription medications, white flour, sugar; focus on eating fruits, vegetables and healthy grains instead of meats and junk; exercise regularly; utilize essential oils, herbal remedies (specifics are listed) and spiritual practices.

Menstruation is not normal??? Vegetarians only menstruate one or two drops of blood, if they menstruate at all??? The author of this book is clearly out of touch with reality.

Wow!!!! Thought provoking and I still remain shocked by all the information I read in this awesome book. This is not just for people of color or of african descent, this is for all people. Rituals and traditions began somewhere..its time to find out how, why, and the reason its time to let them go.

Great book. I love being aware. It is better than being lost and dubious and afraid to accept yourself and who and what you are.

I'm going to be completely honest and admit I havnt atcually read the whole book. I skipped through most of it as it has a lot of vitamin recommendations for different illnesses. I know I will keep referring back to this book, for vitamin recommendations and food recommendations. This is a must read for anyone who is interested in natural remedys, and would like to know more about toxity in our food and makeup.

This book will stay with me for the rest of my life! Ive learned so much and im so thankful go have come across Dr. Afrika. He makes so much sense and speaks exactly as people need to hear it. The book might sound a little biased/harsh towards white people but hey... he has alot of reason. So as long as you can read this book with an open mind it will really benefit alot of people. Especially vegans like myself. Id give beyond 5 stars if i could.

This book was pretty good! It definitely armed me with the information I need to to forward on my journey to veganism. I do feel like I'll have to do more research on processes to further connect my mind with my body though. It's a very good intro to African holistic health practices.

This book is a definite must have. It gives us a different approach to health, history and medicinal science. Dr Laila introduces us to an African centered view-point of holistic health. This pivotal work brought a new perspective to the question of disease origin, diagnosis and treatment as it heightens the reader’s awareness of the convenient lifestyle (diet, sports, relationships...) .
this book also clarifies the difference between the people of African descent and the caucasians .
it delves into the past only because otherwise it would be impossible to understand how the present came into being that is why in the end of the book the author helps you learn about the history of Africa (from the ninth century to the eighteenth century)

Haven't read completely moreso use it as a guide for remedies and have more of an overstanding of ancient African health care that has been making it way back into many consciousness!!! Def recommend for my fellow pan african/Rastafari or african in the diaspora! Loved the principals of Ma'at when it comes to nourishment.. very informative reference guide.

african holistic health by llaila o. afrika is a dense, unapologetic deep dive into wellness from an african-centered perspective. what stood out most was how the book blends nutrition, herbal remedies, and spiritual/energetic considerations into a single framework for health... it's not just about treating symptoms but understanding the body, mind, and environment as interconnected. i appreciated the practical guidance on foods, supplements, and detox protocols, paired with discussions on relationships, sexuality, and self-care… topics often left out of mainstream health texts.

that said, the book can feel overwhelming at times, given the sheer breadth of material and the level of detail... it demands careful reading and reflection. some of the concepts around disease, remedies, and herbs are presented in ways that challenge conventional medical narratives, which can be powerful if approached thoughtfully, but may require further research to fully integrate.

overall, it’s an invaluable resource for anyone looking to explore holistic health from a culturally grounded, african-centered lens. it’s part practical guide, part spiritual/philosophical reflection, and part deep call to reconnect with one’s body, heritage, and environment. i’d recommend it to healers, herbalists, and those serious about understanding health in a wholistic, unapologetically african context.

This isn’t a book you just pick up, read and put back on the shelf. You read through it once, twice, 3 times and you discover loads of information. You get a understanding of your health and how food/hygienic products are weaponized tools. Your mind and body is targeted to confuse you, to dis-ease you, to destroy your wellbeing, identity and neutralize you before you have a chance to rebel against it.

If you are considering going plant based or vegan (don’t let animal love confuse you) go ahead and start it. You are in control, your fate shouldn’t be what you consume.

I saw many testimonies myself. Quickly, I copied his email, I emailed him, he requested for some information for delivery, then i purchased the herbal medicine And he sent it to me, i received it after some few days, then i took as prescribed then with little faith, after taking it for 2 weeks and some days. i went for check up, I was tested HSV negative. I promise to tell the world about him. You can contact via email ____ dr.kham caregiver@gmail.com or website https://dr-kham-herbal-home.webnode.com

While there is some good information in this book, there are also some information that seems to be very misleading or just plain incorrect. As a woman some of the views towards menstruation can be very misleading for younger readers. Also seems like the author has some harsh racist personal matters that not everyone would agree with. Although some of the information felt like it was a little outdated I think that it is still good for information.

Powerful insights. Shares alot of perspectives on the foundation of African culture and really sheds light on how the current paradigms have come to be. Also touches deeply on nutrition and I've personally applied this information and have expanding my perspective when it comes to food. Great read that will definitely expand and challenge you.

Some valuable information here! I agree the western diet can cause much harm, and it's best to avoid processed foods.
However, some information is outdated, holds too much personal aggression, and downright incorrect regarding mensuration.

I read what it had to say about Sickle Cell and decided that the book was B.S. I'm trying to learn about holistic ways to heal the body besides just pills but I will not listen to pseudoscience and misinformation.
