Serpents of Serant #0.5

The Naga Hunter's Lost Mate

Rate this book

I am caught by a beast but the longer he has me, the more I lose the desire to escape.

Charlie

Everything is terrifying and strange on this alien planet I’ve crashlanded on. Especially the purple-scaled snakeman that ‘rescued’ me. When I run, he just follows me and I realize that maybe I don’t want to escape. How crazy is that?

When his Clan threatens me, we’re hunted, and there’s only one option. We run and surrender to the sizzling desire between us.

Mox

The scaleless female ignites my mating sigils. I catch her, never to let her go. She is curvy and tempting and when danger lurks I will do anything to keep her safe. Even if it means giving up all that I knew, even if it means abandoning my Clan.

For a chance at happiness in her arms? I would risk it all.

This is a standalone novella, prequel to the Serpents of Serant Series. This steamy sci-fi monster romance features one barbaric Naga, a savvy human woman, and a steamy HEA.

This sci-fi novella just wasn’t for me unfortunately. Not every book is for everyone and others will probably enjoy the quickness of this. I know it’s a prequel and introducing a whole new series, so there’s more to come, but I felt like there wasn’t enough information. What world building there was felt uneven too. The story itself read slowly in places but the romance started slow and then unexpectedly became fast. The H and h were both likable and the situations they find themselves in were interesting though. The H is a snake-like alien and he’s protective of the h immediately while also being teasing and sweet. The h was adaptable and curious. For as short as the book is, there are two steamy scenes. The ending is HFN and clearly they’ll be side characters in the rest of the series. Written in first person, dual POV. No ow/om drama and neither appeared to be virgins.

The Naga Hunter’s Lost Mate by Robin O’Connor
Serpents of Serant Series #1

The Naga were first introduced in the Gladiators of the Galaxy series and were intriguing at that time. The fact that they are getting a series of their own is…exciting! This prequel sets the stage when Charlie wakes after being thrown from her stasis pod when the spaceship she was on crashed. She wondered if she was in heaven as she remembered being sentenced to death. Faced with an unknown planet, potentially hostile alien predators, and no means of sustaining life…she is willing to do what it takes to survive.

Mox is a hunter for his clan and of the Naga species. He is predominately serpent but has arms and an upper body more humanoid than snake. When he saves Charlie from a Rakworm…well…chemistry is ignited. The question is whether or not she will trust him and what their future will be.

I loved the world building, character descriptions, intense chemistry that was quickly ignited, and that Charlie and Mox realized they were stronger together than apart. I look forward to them meeting those that they will end up working with in the future and watching these unmated Naga snake-men find their fated mates, too.

This was a quick, easy, comfortable, fun read that swept me to a pink and purple planet filled with intriguing possibilities. I look forward to reading more in the series when the books are published.

Thank you to the author and BookSirens for the ARC – This is my honest review.

A short story to introduce us to a new series. I wasn't sure if I'd like a romance novel featuring the naga alien species (they have scales and a snake like body below the waist--a little on the weird/ creepy side) but I enjoy Robin O'Connor's writing so much, I wanted to give it a read regardless.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I loved her "Gladiators of the Vagabond" series, but I assumed that would be the case. Nonetheless, I did enjoy this short story. 9 chapters, written in dual points of view. The female main character is human, Charlie, crashed on an alien planet. The male main character is naga, Mox, native to the alien planet. Great world building: Serant is a purple planet with snow capped mountains and humid swamplands and scary giant Rakworm (humungous fanged, inedible snakes); the planet's natives are called Naga and they are divided in tribes of hunters/ warriors; their females are agressive and dominant although few in numbers. The relationship that develops between the two main characters is sweet with their instant attraction and willingness to give up everything to be together is endearing.

I look forward to reading the next installment in this series.

When Charlie wakes up on an alien planet. She has no idea how she got there. When she spots a stasis pod near her, she knows that it crash landed on this alien planet, and that's the only thing that saved her from dying when they crashed.

Mox Was out hunting. When he came across Charlie, who was just trying to find a safe place. But Charlie came across another predator called a rakeworm and the rakeworm was about to eat her for dinner, So Mox did the only thing he could and saved her from the it.

Mox Saved her twice and at first they could not understand each other and then as long as they were touching each other they were able to understand each other and speak. Mox was some sort of alien human hybrid as he had a human torso but a snake body. Mox knew that Charlie was his mate because he was having mating signs in his body but Charlie wasn't understanding what he was talking about at first.

Mox wanted to keep Charlie safe and brought her back to his village. But then things go badly, and they ended up having to Leave his village and try to live either with other outcasts or by themselves, either way was fine with them.

This was a quick read as it was only 80 pages long but it was a nice prequel to this series and I'll definitely be reading more of it.

This wa a quick and easy read and the main characters Charlie and Mox were the perfect couple when they let their guards down and their burning chemistry explode between them. Charlie is a human female that was sentenced to die when the escape pod she is in crashes on an known planet where she is thrown clear of the pod and thats when a huge black snake attacks her but she is saved by a purple snake man. Mox is a naga Hunter who while out hunting he comes across a female about to be attacked by a Rakworm when all his instincts tell him she is mate and has set his mating signals off but after rescuing her she runs from me but I can’t let her go. When he takes her to meet his clan he is shocked by how they treat her and steps up to protect his mate from anyone that wants to hurt and will give up everything for her. Now on the run together and not knowing what the future holds they give into their desires for each other and forge a bond that makes them stronger. How does it all turn out and do they get their HEA or not.

Charlie, the female human lead, was sentenced to death for accidentally killing her boss whilst fending off his inappropriate advances. She awakens, having crash landed, expecting to be dead, not on an alien planet. Then she is attached by a giant snake, then saved by a Naga, Mox, the male lead.

Mox has been functionally exiled, sent on an errand that’s supposed to kill him because he’s “old” and unmated. Finding Charlie is the blessing he’s wanted but he knows that his clan will kill her, so he heads for the neutral shaman, trying to think of a plan as he goes.

This short story is dual POV, well written, and a sweet and steamy introduction to the author’s new series. It’s set in the same world as her previous one, on one of the planets that her previous characters visited. I enjoyed Charlie’s resilience and determination to survive. I enjoyed Mox’s sweet care and willingness to sacrifice all for his mate. I enjoyed their intimate moments and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.

The Naga Hunter’s Lost Mate is a short prequel to the author’s upcoming new series Serpents of Serant. This was a quick read and I look forward to learning more details of the planet and its inhabitants in future releases. MFC Charlie was unjustly convicted of murder by the UAR (United Alliance of Races) and somehow ends up in stasis crashed on the planet Serant.
She is saved from attack by a native creature when MMC Naga Mox from the Copper Tooth Clan hears her scream.
They can’t understand each other’s language until the moment they touch which is when Mox knows Charlie is his mate even as the attraction was there for them both before the touch!
I enjoyed the story but felt the writing needed a little more polish in some areas.
With a little adventure, intrigue, and spice I see the beginnings of another imaginative journey upcoming for this Sci-Fi Romance reader. HFN.

Charlie and Mox💕

This is my first time reading a sci-fi book and it didn’t disappoint. I really wish Charlie and Mox story was full a novella. This is prequel to Serpents of Serant Series.

Charlie is human woman who was shipped out to space to die and crashed landed. Waking up with a concussion she was set in survival mode as she doesn’t know where she is at. The queen sent Mox out on his own to hunt in a dangerous area where Rakworm are seen. Mox heard scream he never heard of before so he went to investigate saw Rakworm attacking something and ended up killing it. Then he set us on his fated mate😍
He rescue her again and took her to watering welling to get cleaned off and take care of her before they set their journey on to see the Shaman to tend to her head. When they first kissed he was addicted as he didn’t know what that was🤭 there were couple of spice scene in this short story.

This was a fantastic introduction to Robin O’Connor’s new series. This quick and fun prequel novella was easy to read, with wonderful world building and interesting characters. Charlie, the human female, and Mox the male Naga, have amazing chemistry. Charlie is determined to make the best of this second chance at life, and Mox will do anything to protect his newfound mate.

Robin O’Connor has quickly become a must-read author for me. She depicts interesting worlds and writes amazing characters. I love that each one of her characters are varied with different traits and personalities. The women are determined to make the best of their new lives and the males are always supportive yet still protective.

I’m looking forward to reading more in the series.

Charlie is not having a good day. She comes round in a swamp having crash landed on a strange planet. Only to be attached by a terrifyingly massive rattle snake like creature. The only reason that she is still alive is that another large and muscled purple snake man killed the black snake. Whilst that was nice of him she plays safe and flees.

Mox has been sent to hunt in the swamp lands and is hoping to avoid the Rakworms. No such luck. Managing to kill it whilst it is distracted with its prey he is equally distracted by the fascinating creature it has pinned to the ground. When it runs he gives chase.

A wonderful, hot romance with cultural misunderstandings, action and passion. A brilliant start to a new series.

A Ssscintillating and Sssinuous Serpent!

The Naga Hunter’s Lost Mate is a prequel novella to The Serpents of Serant series. This is a great start to a seriously sexy series and gives us a nice introduction to planet Serant, the Nagas and some of the strange and scary threats that exist.

Charlie is a human female stranded on Serant; she is spirited and savvy and takes to her new circumstance with vigor. Mox, a Naga, is sssooo sexy in a protective, possessive and devoted way.
This couple met in an unusual way and the attraction is instantaneous and undeniable even with the unique differences in their species. There is no denying they are fated mates.

I loved Robin O’ Connors imaginative world building and expressive writing and look forward to the first book in the series, The Naga Outcast’s Unwanted Mate.

This is a fab series opener and I loved the world building that kept me right there with the characters ;) It's a shorter read, told in dual POVs, and had a totally sweet and steamy romance. Human gal Charlie awakens on a purple hued planet and gets rescued by a naga male, Mox. He's first hunter of the Copper Tooth Clan and has his mating sigils ignited by Charlie's touch. This also lets them communicate. I loved his care of her and his willingness to sacrifice everything for her safety. She takes a strong leap into his heart and hands, making the most of her new life. They had smoking hot chemistry and burned up my reader with their spice ;P I'm really looking forward to the next book to see where their story will take me :D

This was a great beginning to a new series. Already you have doubts about some people's motives and you know there was some sort of plan underway before Mox even met his mate. What nefarious happenings have we stumbled upon that caused Mox to be where he was when he was? Charlie was definitely given a raw deal back on Earth. That she has pretty much accepted there is little point in going back early on was great. I love my sci-fi but more often than not 80 to 85% of the book is the female character wanting to get to back to Earth/home and I have well and truly read my fill of those. This is a refreshing read and I loved Mox. The world building and new opportunites are beguiling. What happens next, tell me!!

Charlie (h) awakens to find herself on a purple hued planet inhabited by dangerous creatures when her pod crash lands. Snake-man Mox (H), First Hunter of the Copper Tooth clan comes to her rescue, but the pair are unable to communicate with one another until her touch triggers his mating sigils and the bond they share. Mox realizes he needs to protect his mate and get her to safety from planetary threats, including his own clan, even as they explore their growing attraction for one another. Lovel fate mates, naga romantic quickie with a bit of danger and plenty of heat to set the tone for this new series.

This is the first book I've read by Robin O'Connor, and I have to say that I'm very intrigued by the premise of this series. Much like Naomi Lucas' Naga Bride series, this world is filled with a variety of dangerous predators - the most notable being the naga that will quite happily hunt you down as a mate.
The Naga Hunter's Lost Mate has a delightful mixture of danger and action, alongside classic tropes of language barriers, betrayal and of course lots of steamy situations.
I'm definitely going to be reading the next book in the series when it launches.

I've never been into the alien romance books but this is actually really good. I started it earlier today and could not put it down. I loved Charlie and Mox. I loved how their relationship progressed even if it was a little too fast. Which is completely okay because while I love slowburns, I prefer fast paced books. Though I do wish there was more information about their lives. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

He makes her so hot!

Charlie is spared from a death sentence by crashing on an alien planet, but is that a good thing when giant snakes are trying to eat you and the aliens aren’t much better? The pale woman is too soft to survive without help and Mox can’t let her go. His mating sigils say she is his mate and he will give up everything to protect her.

This is a short, sweet alien romance! I hope this isn’t the end of Charlie and Mox’s story. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

This was a good prequel to the Serpents of Serrant.
Charlie is a condemned woman sold out by the UAR, but saved by fate when she crashes.
Mox is a good , strong male.
What the reader finds out is that their situations are more alike than expected. She was an orphan that never seemed accepted. Although Mox was the strongest hunter, his clan used him, but didn't fully accept him.
As they journey to join the other outcast, I look forward to reading the rest of the series, to "meeting" the other nagas exiled because they have not found mates.

A short story that shows the potencial for an amazing series. I loved Robin O'Connor last series, The Gladiators of the Vagabond and this new series makes my expectations very high.
As always her characters are excelent, aliens that look alien, and Rox is a Naga with a human torso ,he's sweet and caring and Charlie falls for him in the spot.
I can't wait to read more of this series!.

Waking up in a new place, Charlie is confused as to why she isn’t dead. She a women who is strong but scared with no survival instinct. Mox is a strong capable warrior, but when getting sent out he’s not sure why. Saving Charlie is the best thing Mox did but they aren’t out of danger yet. A good first novella to this series.

Amazing start to a new series! Charlie accidentally kills her boss while trying to defend herself from his advances. Of course those in power blame her. Sentenced to die, things go awry and Charlie finds herself stranded on a dangerous planet. Enter stage right and the steamy alien Mox enters her orbit and is determined to make her his own. Great adventure and steamy romance. I can't wait for the next installment!

Yep, definitely a fan of Robin O’ Connor. New series, new characters, and a new group sexy aliens. Already from this little novella, I know I can expect the same steamy writing and great world-building from her past Gladiators of the Vagabond series and I am absolutely looking forward to what comes next!

Thank you StoryOrigin and Robin O’ Connor for my copy! I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All above thoughts and opinions are my own.

Well, in all honesty, this book was terribly written. Besides all the spelling and grammatical errors, the tone felt like a 16 year old writing out his bedroom fantasies. There was zero character development, the language was very basic, a huge lack of details to set the tone and setting and overall was really lacking!
I think the IDEA had potential, that is why I gave it 2 stars, but the execution of the idea was terrible. Don't waste your time.

Robin O’Connor has quickly become a must-read author for me. This is a great prequel to the Serpents of Serant Series. Charlie, the human female, and Mox the male Naga, have amazing chemistry. Charlie finds herself on a strange planet when she is supposed to be dead. The queen sent Mox out on his own to hunt in a dangerous area where Rakworm had been seen and Mox heard screaming so he went to investigate. From there the story unfolded quickly.

This was a cute short alien preview romance story that's about Charlie who crashed landed on an alien planet and Mox the alien who found her in the swampy lands while he was hunting by order of his queen. Mox finds himself drawn toward Charlie but when he takes her to his tribe, will they accept her? Their chemistry sizzled, and the storyline was engaging in this short story that I volunteer to review.

A wonderful short read. A fast paced, fated mates, alien romance. I like Mox and how he is so quick to accept Charlie. Charlie is braver than she realizes and is quick to adapt to her situation. I love her sassy attitude and how Mox teases her. I look forward to reading about the other females and their Naga mates.
