Appropriate for older children, however I would not classify this as a children's book. It winds up being quite a read all things considered.
Turns out this actually a book from the series that got into mythology a long time ago. The series as a whole are not the most accurate of sources, but are very readable and give a great layman's view of many different mythologies, including several that are generally very difficult to find sources on.
