Good historical information and framing of a vast selection of tales from both pagan and Christianized times. I can't say enough good things about the artwork. Appropriate for older children, however I would not classify this as a children's book. It winds up being quite a read all things considered.

Turns out this actually a book from the series that got into mythology a long time ago. The series as a whole are not the most accurate of sources, but are very readable and give a great layman's view of many different mythologies, including several that are generally very difficult to find sources on.

It really isnt an art first book, but the illustrations are utterly amazing and worth it alone.
