The explosive fourth and final installment of CASTAWAY, the anxiouxly awaited conclusion to the New York Times bestselling miniseries ANYTHING HE WANTS!
When enigmatic billionaire Jeremiah Hamilton first seduced Lucy Delacourt, he swept her out of her ordinary life and into the extravagant world of the rich and powerful...and then he broke her heart. Hopeless and alone, Lucy is now the victim of a madman's pursuit. Outmatched and outsmarted at every turn, Lucy is forced to make a terrible choice that will haunt her forever.
For in her hands lies the fate of two men, both of whom she loves, and she must decide who will live, and who will die. With everything on the line, will Lucy rise to the challenge and make the right choice? Or will she destroy everyone and everything she's fought so hard to save?
Sara Fawkes has always loved spinning tales, but her romantic roots come from sneaking her mother's old Johanna Lindsay books from the dresser drawer. She's been writing stories since she was a little girl (and has the home made books from preschool to prove it), and loves creating stories and characters and interesting messes for them to get into. An avid traveler and adventure motorcyclist, her dream job includes selling everything off and leaving civilization to see the world on two wheels, writing in cafes in each country she visits, and living off her writing. In the meantime however, she lives in California with her menagerie of pets and, when not writing, loves to rebuild old motorcycles/cars with her Dude and plays with the characters in her head. You can find her online talking about whatever strikes her fancy at:
THIS BOOK. PISSED ME OFF. SO DAMN FUCKING MUCH. SO I WILL BE POSTING SPOILERS AND I WILL NOT REFRAIN BECAUSE PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW. *THERE IS CHEATING, ITS A FREAKING LOVE TRIANGLE, AND THE ENDING IS FSLDJKFSJ* *SPOILER ZONE AT THIS POINT*AND A VERY ANGRY/HATEFUL REVIEW ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
It took a few moments for me to remember just where in the story we left off, but after a page I was all set. I have a love/hate relationship with this side series... I loved Lucy and Jeremiah together and the whole throwing Lucas into the mix just gave me far too few moments of the two of them making up. However the action was non-stop in this installment, a bit much thrown at you though. It seems a disaster was happening at every turn and there was just so much information to keep straight in such a short period of time.
But...
What made this installment for me was the last few pages. These last few pages gave me everything I had been craving for since the end of the first six parts! So the question that we are left with is...
Is it
For Lucy & Jeremiah I hope so. But now that Lucas has gotten under my skin I really hope for a few installments for his story to continue on.
This series (including Dominated by a Billionaire) started out as something that should turn my mind off from thinking and feeling when I just finished another emotional book. But with every novella, I got more and more hooked and in the end, it became my crack addiction - it feels so good but as to how good it is objectively, I don't care.
I can't help but compare this to The Arrangement by HM Ward which follows the same format - some 80 pages for every release around each month. But whereas I fell in love at first book of The Arrangement, I was detached with the first book of Dominated by a Billionaire. And whereas my love from The Arrangement diminished with each release, I enjoyed Dominated by a Billionaire and Castaway and grew more in love with each book.
Now if anyone would say that this series is shallow or stupid or say basically any argument against this series, I wouldn't disagree. I couldn't agree too. For the first time since I got into reading, I shut out any kind of rational thinking and just felt. I couldn't even think of any judgment - good or bad - about the plot, the writing, the characters. I just know that I enjoyed it immensely.
AH, I have one definite opinion: I love LUCAS! He's running for my most favorite character ever for his funny quips and strength and just all his awesomeness. So that ending? Yeah, Ms. Sara Fawkes, you'd have to give me more of that.
Castaway 4! Action, suspense, thrilling, Love, HEA, character growth... Well written Sara. Alex Rush is EVIL!! His back story(though needed) did little to warm my heart to him. I did not feel sorry for him, he was an adult who ultimately made his own decisions and seems he was cut from the same cloth as Rufus Hamilton. Remi and Lucy got their HEA, but I must say I am happy she walked away and he let her. He needed to come to terms that yes he did/does love Lucy and he needed to show her and most importantly TELL her. Lucas, Oh where do I start. I love love love the character of Lucas. There was always more to him, the smile to hide the pain, and I am glad Sara brought that to us, we needed to learn more about Lucas.I am hoping for a sequel/continuation of the story with Lucas as the main character. I liked how Sara brought in Georgia Hamilton again, she is a character I love to hate LOL.
2.5 stars......all belonging to Lucas. So disappointed that I followed this series thru overpriced installments to get a rushed ending with poor editing :(
When I started reading this book I became confused. I completely forgot about book 3 and was expecting this book to begin after Jeremiah found out about Lucy and Lucas. I stopped reading and had to read part 3 again. This series was very drawn out and therefore ruined it for me. I'm glad this is the final book because I don't think I would or will continue will this series. If a author decides to release parts of book in different stages, that's ok if there is only a week or two between them. Having to wait months for each installment( 4 or 5 chapters) at a time is very off putting to me. To be honest I was disappointed in book 4. Lucy in the hospital feeling sorry for putting the gun to the man who lead them to the house in the first place was just stupid in my eyes. She knew he was working for Alex and that Jeremiah was missing. If that was me I would have shot the fucker in the leg and felt NO PITY for the bastard. The ending was just boring. Read the bonus story from Lucas's POV and that didn't do it from me either. Nope....NOT reading books released in stages EVER AGAIN.
The romance and the suspense is amazing. I loved the characters, all the twists and turns of the of the plot that kept me guessing. I love Lucy, she's a Quebecer like me :). I was always Team Jeremiah, the man is somkin' hot but I have lots of love for Loki he is the character that always makes me laugh and the one I always feel bad for. My heart broke when Jeremiah yet again let Lucy walk out. My favorite part is the last chapter when she starts getting the flowers and the note says "I haven't forgotten you" at the moment I had hope. I really do hope we get to see Lucy, Jeremiah and Lucas again. This was a perfect end to a perfect series. Even though I am happy and complete, I'll miss waiting to see what happened and the weekly snippets. I truly Love this story.
First I’d like to say that this book is NOT a standalone book. It is part of a series. If you have not read the previous book you will be lost.
Now that that’s out of the way………OMG!!!!!!! From the beginning, this book grabbed and held onto my attention. I couldn’t put it down. It kept me in suspense the whole time. This story continues the long journey of Lucy and Jeremiah and their struggle for find where they stand in their relationship (or their lack thereof). This is a love story with action and a bit of heartbreak. I had “oh no” moments, “no no no no no, this can’t be happening” moments, and “awwww” moments. In the end, I didn’t envision the possibility of such a wonderful finish to this story.
It took me awhile to remember who the villain was and what had happened at the end of the last installment when I started reading this.
Eventually, I got it and was kind of bored with it.
But I read on and it got a lot more interesting once the bridge scene happened.
After that, it got kind of boring again.
I don't really care too much about the H and h, but I do like the H's anti-hero brother. I may read his book (serial series) if the author writes it. She's already hinted at a love interest.
To say that I didn't want this book to end will sound totally cliche but I DID NOT WANT IT TO END!!!!!
Its so masterfully written and beautiful told with adventure and suspense and excitement at every turn in the story. It will leave sometimes feeling sad, dread, frustrated, furious, happy, romantic, ecstactic and fascinated.
I love how Sara finishes the story with a such candid peace and romantic all the way!!!!!
This novel was my introduction into the world of erotica, and yes, BDSM. Even though, I have read several others ever since, this series remains somewhat a favorite. But the castaway books didn't hold a candle to their predecessors. Something was really really off, and they just didn't seem to hit it off.
It begins so beautifully, the first three books (novellas) are just perfect. However, soon after that, it takes a sudden dip. Everything goes haywire, and nothing seems to be working for the characters or the story anymore.
Title: Anything He Wants: Castaway #4 Author: Sara Fawkes Publisher/Year: Fawkesfire 9/14/13 Length: 121 pages Series: Anything He Wants #8, Castaway #4
Overview
Forgiveness is sought and deadly deadly decisions made in the electrifying climax of the Anything He Wants: Castaway series!
They say the sins of the father are passed down on the successive generations, and no more so than in the Hamilton family. What little hope remains in Lucy's heart is shattered by events and the trauma of a madman's pursuit. Outmatched and outsmarted at every turn, Lucy will be forced to make a terrible choice that will have lasting consequences, no more so than with her heart. For in her hands lies the fate of two men, both of whom she loves, and she must decide which will live, and which will die.
With no light at the end of this dark tunnel, will Lucy be able to choose the right path? Or will she be destined to bring down the Hamilton family legacy?
My Thoughts
I mean, who doesn't love a story that starts up right after a bomb (or several) have gone off and you don't know who's going to survive and to what extent. That's the best way to resolve a cliffhanger of the last few chapters. Where we pick up is Lucy trapped beneath the rubble, trying to find her way out, Lucas trying to help her and we're not quite sure where Jeremiah is...but we know he's safe (or so we guess right?)
The CIA, Interpol, all other sorts of agents are mulling around, trying to figure out where to get everyone that would be safe since they know that they can't trust anyone, that their location is being tracked and they aren't 100% sure who's after them, yet they think that it's Rush - because he's the evil 3rd brother. (and yes, we've confirmed that he's a brother).
These final chapters of the story take us on the journey to a hospital to hide out and recover, we try to figure the extent of injuries - we know that Lucy has either sprained or broken her ankle which i'm sure we can expect to hurt her chances of fight or flight in the coming chapters - and we see that Lucas is probably far more injured than he's letting on since he's hunched over, holding his abdomen but won't admit to any pain. that is until they are all being moved to a 'safe' hospital for medical attention and he collapses to the ground. this should be the first of many bad omens since it means that Lucy and Lucas will be riding in one vehicle to go to the hospital and Jeremiah will be left behind.
who knows what that means for his trip to find them, although if you know these types of stories - you know that he's not going to make it - and he doesn't . the car that he's in gets stopped and he's captured. While Lucas and Lucy are trying to figure out what to do next, they are overcome by some type of gas in their safe house and they find themselves kidnapped as well. good news - they are with Jeremiah - bad news - not everyone will live.
I'll leave you with that - but i do have to say one thing. i really enjoyed the ending - kind of expected it, but i was pleased with where it went. One of the things that i Love about Sara Fawkes writing style is that she doesn't feel the need to go overboard on certain bits of the story. we know that there's goign to be continued trouble in paradise and we don't know if Jeremiah will ever forgive Lucy or if he'll even have the chance, but we don't dwell on it to much. we get the other side of the story to continue and it adds to all that anxiety.
We also know what we're to expect of the ending, and while it's predictable, it's not bad - it was well written and thought about in a good way.
What i loved too is not only did we get an epilogue - we got a 'bonus story' at the very end and that was great. it makes me wonder if Ms. Fawkes is going to continue the story a bit more even for a #0.5 book so that we get the missing months.
All in all, even though it was a novella in the way that i read it with a few chapters here and there, and apparently i'm too slow to have realized that this final installment has been out for a month and a half, i'm glad that i took the journey with this family and that we got the story that we did. It's nice to see family blown apart, come back together, and not get quite the resolution that we were hoping for. It's also nice to see a romance that's not so clean and pretty - but gives us what we need.
Out of curiosity only did I bite the bullet to read this latest volume... Sigh what a waste of a few hrs I thought until...I got to the very last chapter and epilogue. Sadly, it took that long for me to actually enjoy this latest novella.I actually noded off twice. Just too much going round trying unsuccessfully to add action and intrigue. This series had outlived it's purpose and is just annoying I thought until we got to the part of Lucas' funeral. The writer needs to either change her writing style to stay on one path and not add so much that this readers head was ready to explode. Give it a proper goodbye and move forward.. The writer is very talented but clearly unfocused or uninterested in making this series end.
3 stars is all I can reward because I still have no clue what the hell was going on seriously until the very last chapter, and epilogue. A for effort but F in it's presentation. I feel terrible for being so critical of this novella because I did really enjoy myself up until the last 2 novellas. I was pleased with this only at the end - sadly! I don't really know but with someone that's for sure!
ORIGINALLY I had written a review only giving this 1 star so to be fair 3 stars is pretty generous after my original thoughts. I actually took the time to read it again - YES, I subjected myself to it...but only because I had read others reviews and thought I had missed something. So to be fair, I'm still feeling lost up until the final couple of chapters. It was still all over the place but with a fresh mind and positive thinking the above review is my final thoughts. But Dam You Sara - I kind of want to read to find out what happens with this family. I would also like to see Georgia killed off in some horrific and painful kind of way just to make up for the pain she has caused her sons and Lucy! Just a thought! ;)
I am torn with rating this a four or a five, but I'll go with a five. The climax was okay. I must admit I was shocked to know that their father was a killer and a abuser. Did not see that coming.
I guess what my nit picks would be are these-
We never really found out the motive of this guy. He wanted revenge on the brothers for what? Just because he couldn't get it on the dad? Really?
Never found out what happened to the business. We know everything was frozen but then what? Did Jeremiah step down? Did he continue to run it?
And why did Lucas decide not to reveal himself at the end?
Speaking of Lucas, I was hurt! I did not know what to think after what happened. But when it came out in the end I was just so YES!!! HE'S OKAY!!! Now I want him to have his own romance story! He deserves someone! Not Anya, I never cared for her, but someone better.
And going off from my title.....Sara is just...........she.......let me just say after you read the last book you will not know whether or not there is going to be another book or not.At the end of the epilogue she put "the end" then after the bonus story she said "to be continued?"
I hope the Unraveled story wasn't the last and final because that would be a rip off. And really i would have liked to know how Lucas got his scar.
Holy crap-that was good!! Okay, not even sure how I stumble onto this series and it started off innocuous enough, but there was something so damn compelling about it, right from the start. Even though I thought it was priced ridiculously, I could not stop myself from immediately grabbing the next installment. Picture yourself taking a leisurely raft ride down a lazy river and suddenly find your in white water heading toward Niagara Falls and nothing to stop you. And at 3 am I am still reading thinking "Holy Crap". Out of nowhere this story went from steamy scene of sex in an elevator with a stranger, a meek temp's fantasy come true to an international chase with things blowing up everywhere. (Lets not leave out the high quality of serious steam, either.) A suspenseful, action packed roller coaster ride that just wouldn't end. Great build, and even though there was a constant stream of events with twists and turns, it just kept building. Jeremiah, Lucy and Lucas were wonderful characters brought to life by Fawkes and I was totally infatuated with all three of them. And I HATE triangles! It's expensive as hell but a must read in my opinion.
And Ms Fawkes, if you're reading this, PLEASE keep it going!

SUMMARY (55 words or less) I think I’m being generous with my rating. I didn’t write notes on this review but my memory impressions are that it lacked something. Still, I don’t regret reading the series. I just think that this installment lacked what the others had. Liked the ending though.

This story is what it is, I suppose. I think my biggest problem is believing the relationship between Lucy and... anyone. She's pretty annoying, and kind of delusional. She doesn't seem all that smart, or all that great- in fact she comes across as pretty trashy and for the most part immature and selfish- and yet we are supposed to believe that all of these beautiful and dashing men are literally risking everything to be near her?? Well, I guess the story is almost as unbelievable as the fact that I spent like 20 bucks on these books - so maybe a guy like Jeremiah could really fall for a girl like Lucy. Well whatever. I like how these stories aren't very intellectually demanding, and that the move pretty quickly. I just wish I cared more about what everyone was doing- or really believed the story.
The last installment of the castaway series of AHW. What can I say to even give justice to this book.. This series keeps you on the edge of your seat with all the exciting drama. All the detail of the foreign lands and the people really helps put your mind in these places. In the first book AHW, I really didn't like Lucas, this book totally changed how I feel about him. And Jeremiah well, he just got better and better. I really hope for the author to think of making a AHW3 and continue all of their story. By the way it ended gave room for so much more about them and their lives. She mentioned in the authors notes that she listens to her readers and depending on what we want will she write more to their story. I really hope for that.
I have followed this series for a while and spent a TON of money (buying each segment as it became available at $1.99-2.99/segment...I think this makes the 8th piece that has been released) - that makes for a really expensive novel, which is basically what all of these novella's add up to. I have enjoyed the story but was very disappointed in the ending. I don't know if there will be another segment which takes us a little further into the finale of Lucy and Jeremiah but I really hope so - I feel like I've been cheated with how this ended. I would recommend reading the series from start to finish but I would wait until you can buy it as one complete novel instead of reading the bits and pieces.
Loooved this series! It had a lot of action and suspense. While there were some steamy sex scenes in the previous installments there was nothing in this last one. I guess there just wasn't time with everything else going on LOL. I myself was torn between Jeremiah and Lucas but was happy with the ending. Lucy often got on my nerves. I don't want to give anything away but the ending was brilliant (the park scene). I was guessing that something like that might have happened but not quite in the way that it did. I know there is more to Lucas and I hope there is a series coming out with his story soon! Loved the bonus scene!!! Highly recommend this one.
Lucy and Jeremiah…I love you guys!! They are an amazing couple! These was, as all the books were from this series, AWESOME!!!
But there was one small part I did not enjoy at ALL!!! The part where is says The End…yea that part I didn’t like, do not agree with at all and by far did not enjoy reading! Though the story is complete and again I love the way the characters, plot and how book was written….I need more! Please! I don’t want to let Lucy or Jeremiah go!
Despite all I just said because I am crazy…I loved loved loved this series!! Read it!
I have the honor of being one of the first people to read the next installment of AHW Castaway 4 before the release. Sara Fawkes is more than an erotic writer. She has steamy sexy scenes, but also keeps you on the edge of your seat with suspense. I have been waiting for the release of the next installment and was fortunate enough to be chosen to read it before hand. I could not put it down! The story of Lucy, Jeremiah and Lucas does have a happy ending, but I can see more to come.... Maybe even a spin off of other characters? Sara Fawkes rocks and I highly recommend this series!
I totally loved this series, Sara did a great job with character development making me care about them and keeping my interest. This series started of in Anything he Wants in I believe it was 5 parts, then continued in Anything he Wants Castaway series. The action adventure parts were as addictive as the romance. I also appreciated that she gave the main couple a nice HEA but still left it open to keep their romance in possible Lucas the brother's story which I hope to see soon. Highly recommend :)
I was somehow quite dissapointed with this book. I was happy that it came to an end because I truly liked this serie. There were a lot of actions as usual with it came to Jeremiah and Lucas. But my dissapointement lay on the fact that was not too much at all about the characters. It was a rush and no deep. So easy, so ready, so fast ending. I'm just wishing that I will be able to read about Lucas and Anderson, maybe. And more about are couple from Castaway. How they moved on, how jeremiah doing, and so on.
