When I began my journey of becoming an author, I had no idea all the blessings that would be bestowed upon me. First, I have had the pleasure of meeting so many readers at signings and they have overwhelmed my heart with how much they love my books. Their words of affirmation have given me pure joy and they are the reason I write. To stare my stories with them is to give them a glimpse into my heart. I've also been tremendously blessed with bloggers who have tirelessly shared my stories, made teasers for me, promoted me, and just downright made me feel so welcome in the Facebook community.

I didn't share this initially, but the Killer Next Door series is about my own life experience living next door to a convicted serial killer. The story has the facts of my interactions with him mixed in with fiction that I created to give it drama. The main character Kate is actually based on me. Of course, much of the story has my run away imagination mixed in as well. And sadly, the romance part is all made up!! I didn't have a boyfriend at the time I lived next door to a killer. I did however know one of his victims and he was very interested in "getting to know me better." I know...yikes!

I wrote Beholden to You as a spin-off of the series. It's my favorite book as I love Natalie and Mac's love affair. It also has some thrill to it as I enjoy adding in twists and turns to make the pages fly.

I am about to release my fifth book, Forgotten by You, another spin-off, but can be read as a stand alone. Mitch and Charlie's story will have you rooting for a happy ending and I keep the twists coming.

Reading has been a passion of mine my entire life. I love it so that I dedicated my life to educating children. As a teacher, I have had the profound pleasure of teaching children to read and explore their imaginations through a good book. Nothing is better than watching a child read and find joy from the story. My first graders are a gift that keep on giving every day. Being a teacher is hard work, but the rewards far outweigh the sacrifices.

I have several that I want to turn into books. Writing has become a passion that I dearly love.
In my free time, I enjoy reading (of course), writing, movies, working out, and relaxing with my my handsome husband in Southern California. We enjoy the relaxed lifestyle that California provides. We have two beautiful dogs and no children.

Beholden to You was a captivating, beautifully written and deeply heartfelt romance. The story follows Natalie and Mac, who both have one major thing in common; a tragedy-ridden past. Both have lost their parents and have since been resigned to lives of sadness and loneliness. They first meet one Thanksgiving holiday through mutual friends. But that meeting is a short one. It isn't until a few weeks later when they embark on a celebratory trip to Vegas, for those same mutual friends that things really begin to spice up!!

What was really unique about this book is that it starts in the middle of the love story for these two. This element had its pros and cons for me, but we’ll get to those in a minute. Following the prologue which covers their initial Thanksgiving meeting, the story begins in Vegas, the morning after a VERY crazy and memorable night for these two. What I liked about this was that the story takes off running right away. By 6% in, I felt completely invested and connected with what was going on. What I didn’t like was, because we jump in following a very major night for these two, it had a bit of an insta-love feeling for me. I was left wishing that one of them would flash back to that crazy night that they shared in Vegas. I felt a bit deprived not getting to read that part of their story.

Now that that’s out of the way, I will say that I otherwise really enjoyed this book! It is a spin-off from Carlie’s Killer Next Door series, but can totally be read as a stand alone. Natalie and Mac had a great dynamic. Very touching. There is a lot of sweet romance between these two, but at the same time, plenty of hot passion too! I absolutely LOVED Mac! He was definitely a unique leading male character, at least for me. He hasn't slept around with a ton of women and, while given his past he certainly could, he doesn't have a ton of issues or walls up around him. He has his company, his friends, and his love for Natalie, and that’s about it. He is what he is and is very honest about it. He was sweet, domineering, and oh-so-protective and respectful of her. If you like your leading male characters to have that knight in shining armor quality to them, Mac is definitely your guy! Natalie was a great heroine as well. Not a whiny annoying one, which is always refreshing. Her demons are a little closer to the surface than Mac’s are, so she is still battling them. But really, there is no drama for the sake of drama between these two. They do endure a lot but, but, to me, everything that was thrown their way made sense and seemed like the story kept flowing in the right direction.

This book had a bit of a fairy tale quality to it, which I really enjoyed. Not in an over-the-top way. In a damn-I-wish-that-was-me, escapism way!! Natalie hasn’t been exposed to much and Mac wants to place the world at her feet. And the ending was beautiful with a happy, swoon-filled epilogue that left me smiling.

This was my first book of Carlie Sexton’s but definitely not my last. I really enjoyed this author’s unique writing style and think she has a lot of promise. I’ll be looking forward to more from Carlie!

This was my first book by Carlie Sexton and it certainly won’t be my last! Although Beholden to You can be read as a stand-alone novel -- which is what I did, it is really a spin-off from “The Killer Next Door” series. I wish I had known this because I would have read those books prior to this one. It really didn’t affect my overall enjoyment where this book is concerned, but it would have allowed me to connect even more with the characters and their background story.
“I was afraid to open my heart to anyone. But the moment you held me on Thanksgiving, I was beholden to you, my heart felt bound to yours.” – Natalie

The moment Mac found Natalie outside crying at a Thanksgiving dinner, an emotional connection was made. They both knew very well the pain and heartbreak of losing loved ones. Since then, they texted back and forth and basically developed an attraction to one another. One weekend, they drove together to Las Vegas to celebrate their friends’ upcoming wedding. That Friday, after one too many shots, they ‘blacked out’.

The next morning, they woke up to a shocking reality. Ha! I bet they didn’t see that coming! After both realizing their feelings ran deeper than they ever imagined, they decided to officially give their relationship a ‘go’. You would think the book would be pretty light from there on out, but no. There sure was a lot of drama in store for Mac and Natalie.

Enter, Cassie, Mac’s psycho ex-girlfriend.

That. Woman. Ugh. She just would not let it go! After two very long years, Mac had realized just how evil and cold-hearted she really was, so he dumped her. You would think that after several times of him telling her they were no longer a couple, she would get the hint. Double Ha! She wanted her claws so deep in Mac that she knew no boundaries. She desperately wanted to be Mrs. Carter….one way or another.
“She was so much more to me, she was mine and I would do anything to protect her.”- Mac

Mac to me was perfect. Good looking, kind-hearted, generous, protective, and very romantic. He did everything for Natalie. He made sure she was safe at all times and never needed anything. He was always there for her….in every sense of the word, and Natalie had A LOT going on. Like I said before, there was a lot of drama in this book!
“I can’t believe Natalie has come into my life and reshaped my world. My focus. My heart. She is my forever.” – Mac

Swoon! See? That guy was just so damn dreamy!!!! Natalie was a lucky girl. I must say, I also liked her character. Natalie was kind and thoughtful, always putting her friends’ needs and best interest before hers. That at times got on my nerves, but it really goes to show how strong she really was.

Overall, this was a truly enjoyable read. My only issue was that I felt like the ending was rushed, but other than that I really liked the story line. It was jam-packed with action and romance. I will definitely be reading the other books in Carlie Sexton’s previous series, since I want to know more about Kate and Neil’s story, which we got a glimpse of in this book. If you are a fan of suspenseful romance books, I highly recommend you pick this up.
“You have my heart, Natalie Carter.”

3 stars, at best.

I want to start by saying that I read some of Carlie's Killer Next Door series and I have to say that the writing, grammar and a lot of the other mistakes I saw before are not quite as bad as before.

Having said that, they aren't exactly great either. Now, I DID read an ARC that was sent to the blog I read for. So with some of the formatting issues that MAY have played a part, but I'm not entirely convinced it did. There were missing punctuation marks, dialog between different characters needs to be separated and there are a few misused words. BUT again- it was better than before!

Overall, for the story, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. It is very insta-love, love at first sight sort of stuff. And that typically doesn't float my boat. I think it works here better than in other books I've read though. What I really don't like is that it ended up being a bit of a spin-off from the Killer series. I didn't realize that at all. I was under the assumption this is a stand alone novel. I can't agree with that though, since A)all the characters are from that series and B)we reference back to the other series many times, often without explaining just WHO this Roger guy is. If I were a new reader to Carlie Sexton books I wouldn't have ANY CLUE what was going on.

I'm also not a fan of how "Jessica's killer" is portrayed. He's constantly referred to by Natalie like that. Which originally leads us to believe that Jessica is murdered or something. Not that she died in a car crash while her boyfriend was driving. Yes, he was high, but calling some one your sister's killer implies things. It implies that he's a stranger and that it was premeditated.

There is a lot of kissing and making out in this story. If you like that sort of thing, you're in luck. I personally found it a bit repetitive and it got old fast.

I'm also a bit disappointed with the length of time it took them to figure everything out. They literally have all the evidence in hand and it took a PI just how long to figure it out? Really? Does he not have an internet connection? Because with the info he had it should have taken him a day (at most) to put it all together.

Ok. The good: The three BFFs are amazing. I like the interactions between the gals and it reminds me a bit of me and my besties. I know they'd have my back no matter what.

Despite my bitching about- the overall story is quite enjoyable as a whole. I pretty much just feel it needs some refining.

I could NOT put this book down! Ok, well I had to at 3 a.m. because my eyes were on fire and watering from being so tired. I woke up and the first thing I had to do was get back to this book! This was my very first Carlie Sexton book and I was blown away! I cannot wait to go back and read the other books that "Beholden to You" is a spin off of.

What happens in Vegas does not always stay in Vegas, and this proves to be true when Natalie goes to Vegas with the sexy Mac Carter for their friend's pre wedding celebration. One night involving way too much alcohol will change their lives forever. Natalie has experienced so much pain and loss in her life, and has not been able to count on anyone but herself that she is scared to get close to or trust anyone. She is selfless and has so much to offer someone, but hasn't met the one to tear down those walls until she meets Mac.

Mac Carter is a rare find. That man has so much love and compassion for the people in his life, and is by far one of the most honest characters I have come across in awhile. This is one book character that no human man could ever compete with or come close to in comparison that is for sure. When he finds out what happened between Natalie and him after walking up in his Vegas hotel after a few drinks too many, he embraces the situation when most men would run. He knows Natalie is what he needs and will do anything he can to convince her that they are meant to be together. Hang on to your panties ladies because you will swoon a litrle bit! ;)

I give this book and easy 4.75 stars. I felt like I was int his story and experiencing every emotion that the characters were experiencing. This book even has a little bit of a mystery to it and some crazies which made it all the more exciting! I laughed and even cried at the end because my heart was so heavy with overwhelming emotion. The relationship/ friendship that all of the characters have with each other also made me want to be their friend too, and I love when I feel that way about the characters. I have popped my Carlie Sexton cherry with this book and I am officially a HUGE fan! I cannot wait to see if there is more in the future for this clan!

First can I say that Carlie Sexton is the BOMB! She can write like no one's business and the stories she weaves capture you right from the very start. When I was reading Beholden To You I could not read fast enough because I needed to know what was going to happen.

Natalie has had it rough. She has tried to put her life back together but every time she feels like it is going somewhere she is thrown for a loop and something else happens to her. Then she meets Mac and holy hell Mac is what every boyfriend should be. I mean holy hell he is sweet, kind, and loving and he is willing to do anything for Natalie. But you know what they say that everything good must come to an end and there is someone out there who is ready to put an end to Mac and Natalie. This person is determined to destroy anyone or anything that comes near Mac.

What is Natalie going to do because she has decided to let Mac in and in order to keep him she will have to fight for him. Will it be enough or is someone out there trying to hurt her as well. What is Natalie going to do and where is she going to turn? This is such a must read story because the ending will shock you!

As much as I love a bad ass alpha who is tattooed and has a dirty mouth, the other part of me adores characters like Mac. There is something incredibly sexy about a true gentleman with a heart of gold that isn't afraid to show his woman how much he loves her.

Mac and Natalie's story is great. Even though the events of their relationship are all out of "normal" order and they each have their own "demons" to deal with, they compliment each other so well.. Yes their relationship moves insanely fast and I know that's a hard concept for people to grasp, but it's a romance novel and what's more romantic than love at first sight.

I enjoyed the references to Roger and if you haven't read the Killer Next Door series by Carlie Sexton, you are missing out. I also enjoy dual perspectives in novels so I was excited to see the story being told by both Mac and Natalie.

I had the privilege to read an ARC copy and I have to say this book is such a touching story about Mac and Natalie. I cried and smiled all through out reading. As Carlie does as always she gives us a little suspense and you sit at the edge of your seat and keep reading. I could not put the book down. My mind kept buzzing what else could happen to this couple that they can't get through together.
If you read Carlie's books this is a definite read. Looking forward to what she brings next.

I received this arc in an exchange for an honest review. Honestly, the book is WOW! I read the first in the series, but hadn't yet read the second or third so at times felt lost. Being lost isn't such a bad thing where Carlie Sexton is involved. In fact, it's made me want to get the second and third and start them all over again. I couldn't put it down

Having lost everyone she has ever loved, Natalie is alone. She has a few close friends but even they can’t get her to lower the walls she has put up. Nat is a smart, beautiful, innocent girl who puts everyone before herself even if it means putting her own happiness on hold.

Deciding to take a break from heartache and stress, Natalie decides to join her friends in Vegas for a little pre-wedding celebration for two of her friends that are soon to be married. Well, at least that is why everyone thinks she is going. She is secretly going to spend some time with a very handsome, very rich and attentive, Mac.

“But then you came along, Mac Carter, and broke through all the walls that I have built around my heart.”

Mac saw her heartache, held her while she cried, and knew after that first meeting his life was never going to be the same. Mac, having lost both of his parents is alone as well. He has some close friends that he considers family for which he is very grateful for. He is an all-around great guy. He has been in relationships but has never found anyone he could envision his “forever” with. Deciding to go to Vegas for the weekend with his friends and to spend some time with the woman who has captured his thoughts, he finds himself once again drawn to her.

“I was her moth and she was my flame.”

They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas…well not in this case!

Waking up one morning, Natalie finds the very attractive Mac Carter by her side and a ring on her finger. What in the heck happened? She doesn’t remember anything and neither does Mac but from the signatures on the marriage licenses, it looks like they are married. That should freak them out right? Well for some reason it doesn’t. Mac is surprising calmed by this fact and he already knows Nat is quickly gaining a place in his heart. She is a bit more taken back by this. How could she allow this to happen? Luckily, there is an easy fix…an annulment. Simple right, they will just file when they get back home and return to their lives.

Not if Mac has anything to say about it. He knows Natalie has been through a lot and doesn’t want to scare her will big confessions of love and happily ever after but that does not mean he is willing to let her just walk out of his life. He will go slow, take his time with her and show her all he has to offer her.

“Open yourself up to this experience. Live Natalie. It’s time.”

He’s got the perfect solution…he will date his wife. Will he be able to convince her that they are truly meant to be and that time doesn’t mean anything when it comes to love.

“Baby, I’m not some dumb young guy who just wants one thing. I want the real thing…a marriage, a family, a life-long commitment.”

Returning home and away from their whirlwind Vegas romance is harder than expected. Mac’s ex is bound and determined to get him back at all costs, Nat’s past comes back and leaves her with conflicting feelings, the aftermath of her sister’s death is weighing on her, and on top of that Mac is keeping a secret. Not just a “oh I snore” type secret either. It’s a biggie, and if there is one thing Natalie believes when it comes to relationships it is honesty. Will she be able to forgive Mac for his betrayal?

Overall I think this was a good storyline. It went a little fast for me. I wasn’t really feeling their “connection” a whole lot at first but after a while I grew to love them together. I think the drama and the lovin’ could have been kicked up a notch. I mean if I woke up in a bed, with a man I barely knew, having realized I’m not longer “innocent” and on top off all that I was MARRIED! I would have been freaking out. I mean like shaken to my core, out of my mind, WTF did I do CRAZY! I definitely wouldn’t have been all calm and like “oh ok, I guess we will see where this goes.” Maybe after a while but they both definitely deserved a little bit more of a freak out than they got. I think it could have added more passion to the story and been quite funny.

This was a very fast paced story of fate and belonging. Sometimes in life you don’t question the why’s and just concentrate on the feeling. If you do that you could find yourself beholden to something you never envisioned.

My Take on this Journey:

Beholden to You, by Carlie Sexton, was a fast paced, slow ride, with a mesmerizing tale, that only Carlie Sexton can diligently weave. The reader is re-introduced to Mac, (Neil's best friend) and Natalie, (Kate and Charlie's best friend.) These characters were introduced first in The Killer Next Door Series. Natalie is still in a great deal of pain after the death of her parents, and the sudden death of her last living relative, her sister, Jessica. Jessica was killed in a car accident while in the car with her boyfriend who was under the influence of drugs. Natalie decides to go on a trip to Las Vegas with her friends, Neil, Kate, Mitch, Charlie, and the one and only, Mac. She liked Mac and when she found out he was going, she decided to take a chance and see if anything would come of it. Mac found out that Natalie was going to Las Vegas, and that was all he had to hear. He was definitely interested in the beautiful and illusive, Natalie.

The story takes on a life of it's own, when after drinking, partying, and being seduced on the dance floor, Mac ravishes her with his tasty lips and completely envelopes Natalie's thoughts, wants, and needs. Natalie has not let anyone in since she was left broken hearted by her boyfriend, Ty, after her parents death. She starts feeling bad, and Mac tells her that he will take her to her hotel. The next scene shows Natalie waking up in bed with a naked, all too beautiful, Mac. When she looks down at her hand, there is a ring on her finger. She flies into a frenzy and wakes Mac for an explanation. Neither can remember the details, and there are flashes with holes everywhere. They decide to wait on getting an annulment, and not tell their friends what they have done.

Mac's parents died tragically in an accident when he was a kid, and Neil's parents took him in as his surrogate family. So, Neil can read Mac like a book. Mac swears him to secrecy and tells him of the marriage. Neil gives him advice on how to woo Natalie and win her over, and keep her as his wife. Mac has some big shoes to fill, as Neil has set the standards high with Kate on how to wine and dine the woman of his dreams. He has his work cut out for him. Between keeping the secret from their friends, fending off their ex's, lies, deceit, blackmail, extortion and secrets, this story is a roller coaster full of excitement at every turn. Natalie has an abundance of conflict over whether or not Mac is sincere, since Ty was not. She also carries a lot of guilt over her sister's death. Mac has his own share of problems with his ex, Cassie, who has turned into a deranged psychopath since he broke off their relationship.

There are so many conflicts, and insurmountable chaos, secrets, lies, suspense, and oh so many elements that keep this story heated! This is a page turner that you must not pass up. Get this on your TBR! The story line was swoony. If you thought Neil was a juicy hunk of man, wait till you get your fill of Mac. He is delectable, a gentleman, and he learned from Neil how to sweep a woman off her feet. He oozes seduction that will make your panties melt. It was great getting our characters from previous segments back in Beholden to You. The storyline was intriguing, and you will get your fill of swoon worthy scenes. I would have liked more details about Roger, as he also made a brief appearance of sorts in this book.

Will our couple get their HEA? Can they get past the trust issues and secrets withheld from one another? Read and find out. You won't be disappointed. Ms. Sexton will keep you turning pages to the very last word. She has written another titillating, angst-filled, tender, sexy, suspenseful novel that will have you rooting for these two beloved characters that have had their share of life's "Hell on Earth." Tighten your seat belts, this is going to be a bumpy ride!

I give Beholden to You, by Carlie Sexton, 5 Heart Breaking, Cold Shower Taking, Hot Love Making, Cat Fighting, Slow Burning, Kindred Spirit Building, Fairy Tale Ending...Stars!!!

Beholden To You is like multiple classic story plots thrown together. There were some instances where I just got so lost with the story line. I was about to say “Basically the plot is this…”, but then going back, I realized I couldn’t say that. There’s just too much going on all at once. It’s kind of exciting, but it also disconnected me from the story line a bit. I found myself forgetting what had previously happened each time a new chapter started. I didn’t know that this book was a spin-off from Carlie Sexton’s other series, so I read it without reading the other two, but it turned out fine.

“I hope I don’t lose him. It seems like everyone I love ends up leaving me. I am not sure if I could survive another loss, and already Mac seemed so important to me.”

So, the story starts off with Mac and Natalie waking up the morning after they accidentally got married in Vegas. I kind of love it when that happens. They met through mutual friends and got pretty drunk, then go married, and then Natalie lost her virginity to them. Strangely enough, they don’t want an annulment, since they are both already attracted to each other, they decide to keep the marriage a secret and start dating.

“For some reason that was beyond me, I wanted to curl up in his arms, tell him everything about myself, and just have him hold me forever. What was it about him that caused me to feel so safe?”

Their plan to slowly get to know each other ultimately fails. They are too drawn to each other. The plot then involves Mac’s crazy stalker ex who wants to get back together with Mac. Then, there’s the rich billionaire thing going on with Mac. And Natalie has lost her entire family, so she has the whole broken past and scared to love thing going on. Towards the end there’s a small love triangle. And some life-threatening action. Like I said, the book is not lacking in plot.

“Nat, we both know life doesn’t come with any guarantees. I’m not perfect and chances are I could hurt your feelings at some point, but I’m crazy about you, and I want to be with you.”

One of the things I liked the most was that they had inexplicably hot chemistry. Those love scenes! *fans myself* Sure, they might have gotten too comfortable too fast, but hey at least they try to move forward with the situation they got themselves in. Well, at least Mac does. I loved the way he knew from the very beginning that he wanted Natalie forever and that he was going to fight for her. Natalie was the one dragging her feet, but with her past it’s somewhat understandable. I saw a lot of character growth with her. She learns to let go of the past and live in the moment. She had a lot of baggage, but with Mac by her side she learns to love and let love in. I loved that they helped each other heal, and that Mac was ever so patient with her. Mac was just sweet and swoon-worthy, period.

“You are the only one for me. Do you know why I’m so certain? I know because I can’t see my life without you.”

All in all, Beholden To You kept me up way past my bedtime, as I flew through it, desperate to find out what happens after every plot twist. It was a quick, light read. It’s over the top romantic at times, but we need those kinds of books every once in a while. Mac and Natalie just like to voice their feelings a lot. The story is told in their dual POVs which never fails to get me. It’s gooey and romantic. For those looking for a sweet read, look no further.

“You deserve this and more, baby, I plan on spending my life loving you, adoring you, worshipping you, spoiling you. You mean everything to me.”
“I’ll never give up on you, baby. Never.”

As a massive fan of The Killer Next Door Series I was really excited for Natalie and Mac's story. And Carlie did not disappoint she delivered a beautiful heart-warming love story with her special Carlie suspense thriller souther fried homicide twist.........Loved it.
Mac and Nathalie both suffered tremendous tragedy, losses and heartbreak. Nathalie is still suffering from her latest lost, her younger sister was killed in an a car accident, now she has no family left. Mac understands all too well what that feels like he too has no family left after losing his parents in a air plane accident.

"All night I tossed and turned thinking about Natalie. Her heart had captured mine the day we met and I knew I was in deep. I had cared about women before, even thought I had been in love a time or two, but that paled in light of my feelings for her, Walking away from her had been so fucking difficult, but I had to put her first. I wasn't going to win her heart by being a selfish brute."

From the first time Mac lays eyes on Nat he feels a strong connection to her and after discovering she is currently grieving that connection only intensifies as we feels protective towards her. He just wants to comfort and show her compassion.
Nathalie has lived her life closed off and non trusting never getting too close to people because she knows first hand how much it hurts when they leave. That is until she feels Mac he makes her feels safe and a level of trust even through she has not known him long.

"No games, no drama, only Mac and his sincere heart. He has a hold on me. He was kind, considerate, generous, loving, and I was beginning to realize I wanted him. More than I needed him."

In "Given To You" something went down in Vegas between the two that left us all guessing (I did in fact guest right)
They keep their new found love from their friends and date in secret, well not that much of a secret Mac told the boys but sore them to secrecy and its clear for all to see the chemistry between them and the way they look at each other.
I love how they date and get to know each other Mac is on a mission to get Nathalie to fall in love and show her just how serious he is about her and forming a lasting relationship between them. Mac will leave you swooning, he is sooooo sweet and attentive he goes all out to win his women.
I did however had one issue; Mac withheld something pretty major from Nathalie, I get why he did it but I personally believe in 100% honesty and transparency but In the end action speaks louder than words and Mac's action proven beyond a draught his feelings which is all that really matters.

"If I wasn't already desperate for him before, his words caused me to crave him in a way I had never experienced before. I had fallen hopelessly in love with this gorgeous man and I was going to completely let my guard down and show him."

With Natalie fragile trying to open herself up and live again and Mac doing all he can to provide her with a safe haven will their relationship survive when both their interfering ex's makes and appearance and attempt to get in between them will they relationship survive?

"Mac, until I met you, I had resigned myself to being alone. I was too afraid to open my heart to anyone. But the moment you held me on Thanksgiving, I was beholden to you, my heart felt bound to yours."

I love Carlie she knows how to bring it and leave you wanting more. The story is fast paced with action and twist that keeps you right at the very edge of your seats until the last word. You are really able to connect with the characters quite a few times I wanted to just reach out and give Nat a hug. Beholden to you is well written and flowed beautifully.
Loved this story and I cannot wait to read more from Carlie Sexton she is awesome.

First off must say this was a spectacular novel that has all the requirements of a smoking hot suspense romance so make sure your smoke detectors work while reading. It is able to fullfill to the tee-over flowing in fact any expectations when picking up a novel such as this. I personally had never read this author before but was aware of her books and had them on my tbr list that is longer than me by now. So when I could finally get the opportunity to read this one according to the description of what it was about. Enjoy a good suspense romance especially when it is better than ice cream (my favorite) so little did I know I was in for a thrilling ride that would prove to be 5 star with the style and the talent of this author that did it. In a suspense anymore for me being a long time reader it is harder and harder to find one that is going to be able to keep me intrigued and not be predictable. I also think it is a added bonus when the romance is intense and dynamic and meshes right with the suspense. This novel has that and so much more. Natalie has recently lost her sister and two years since her parents and Mac finds her grieving outside, understands her loss himself having experienced it which is rare in a good looking well to do hunk of a guy. Well buckle your seat belt the ride is going to start-next they wake up with each other, no memory except signs of what happened or should say probables, blood as she had been a virgin, ring of her finger not there before and last but not least a man not just any man but Mac. One of the reasons they were both in Vegas was to see each other again and I would say they did just that all right. Two plus Two equals four right? Yep they are married but were actually supposed to be there for friends who had plans to get married. They are not unknown friends either if you have read any of her previous books. Here is the unexpected part, nothing read after is what you would think happens occurs in a scenario such as this. So as I delve deeper into this with this excellent writing going on flowing right along don't want to stop because have to know what happens next. Natalie gets Mac to agree to keep it a secret until after friends upcoming weddings. Interesting part is they will stay married and get to know each other.Of course this road is not smooth riding it is gonna be a rough one filled with bumps and a couple storms. Great characters too that have alot of life and color. One in particular though is a nasty she devil ex and she lays it on thick somewhat due to the fact she is nuts I think but later too a real piece of work she is revealed. Crazy leads to dangerous too and that is her-Cassie. Eating it up here all the danger and suspense and the icing on this the hot romance can't keep love from it's intended target. Boy will I be rolling full when finished. One lucky girl Natalie is to have snagged a alpha man with a heart and one lucky man is Mac to have captured one with a heart and character. Why is it though that a life threatening event always has to happen for people to cherish those they love and or even deny that love no more? Life has a way of delivering that wake up call alot of times to see what is most precious right before our eyes and that will happen here.So that had me curling my toes, clutching my seat that I am now left in a pile of mush from the awesome ending. Hats off to this author (if I wore them that is I would) for giving me a most spine tingling heated read I have not had in a long time, it has all the right stuff. received a arc for a honest review.

**BETH'S REVIEW**

*3.5 Stars*

Beholden to you is the stand-alone spinoff from Carlie Sexton’s Killer next door. It’s a story of two people, who come together through mutual friends but have both suffered tragic loss in their lives and connect and get each other. They become acquainted and while on a trip with their friends in Vegas to help celebrate their upcoming nuptials, Mac and Natalie spend time together and get to know one another. But what happens in Vegas is not always remembered the morning after and these two awake in bed together only to realize they are now married, technically only after their first date.

Natalie has suffered tragic loss along with heartbreak over the past several years, first him mom dying and her dad shortly after and we pick up the story shortly after losing her younger sister. She is also still reeling from a bad breakup with Ty, her first love who broke her heart. She is afraid to let anyone in, afraid to loss someone else she cares about and has a hard time letting her walls down to let Mac and anyone for that matter, in.

Mac has also suffered the loss of his parents at a young age and understands Natalie’s loss. He is smitten right from the start with her and after realizing they are married, he has decided he is going to break those walls down and sweep her off her feet, he plans on being her prince charming and never let her go. I must say for a business mogul as big and as rich as Mac Carter, he doesn’t come off as arrogant and truly is a romantic at heart pulling out all he had to win her heart over, he is quite swoon-worthy

I did enjoy reading this book and enjoyed the characters but I did have several issues with it. First was the insta-love connection Mac and Natalie shared. It happened way to quick and was a bit too unbelievable for me to enjoy their romance.

Second was the fact this was supposed to be a standalone spinoff. I have not read the other series and felt I would have understood a lot more parts in this book had I read them. The characters from the series were in this one quite a lot, a lot more than most spinoffs. Also there were a lot of parts mentioned in this book but never explained so a first time reader would understand them. I didn’t understand all the references to the parts of the series storyline that carried into this one, so either they should have been better explained or recommended to read the series first.

Last, the storyline was way too predictable and just didn’t keep me engaged. I love a great contemporary romance with all the sappy love moments, it’s my favorite type to read but they were a bit too sappy for me. Nothing in this book surprised me, the progression of their romance and all the drama that unfolded were way too predictable. I needed those OMG moments, it’s what I love most about reading, but sadly this book didn’t have those for me.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I actually just finished reviewing The Killer Next Door Series of Carlie Sexton’s, so I just dove right in. This book is a spin off of The Killer Next Door books and it is Mac’s and Natalie’s story. Let me tell you right now, I LOVED this story! It had it all; drunken Las Vegas marriages, smokin hot sex, scheming asshole ex’s, and tons of angst. This book moved along at a much quicker pace than Carlie’s previous books. I really enjoyed that aspect. I really felt like the writing was just more comfortable.
The sex was totally off the charts hot in this book and Mac was even hotter. Seriously! Mac Carter is every girls dream man. Sexy, kind, romantic, patient, and alpha! Did I say patient? He was wayyy too hella patient , if you ask me. Even Natalie was having wet dreams about him. I waited the whole damn book ,practically, for a hot sex scene. All the heavy petting, dry humping, and kissing had me a damn hot mess. Whew and when they finally got it on….well….
It was good for me. Was it good for you?

It was really, really good, I mean.

The only thing that I wished were different is that Carlie had written a point of view for Cassie. I am just being picky because I think she writes an awesome sociopath and wackadoodle Cassie had the potential to be a bigger part of the story. I liked this book even better than The Killer Next Door Series. This book felt more put together and polished, I think. I feel Carlie’s writing is only getting better and better. I cannot wait to see what comes next. 4 out of 5 smooches, lady!

I was given an ARC of Beholden To You to review for Swoon Worthy Books, I fell in love with Mac and Natalie in Ms. Sexton’s The Killer next Door Series and was so excited to see that she was giving Mac and Natalie their own story. I really felt that there could be a really great story with these two characters and trust me she did not disappoint with Beholden To You. Once I started this book I could not stop until it was over. Everything flowed together so well and she brings you suspense throughout the book.

After losing her parents at nineteen, Natalie then has to raise her sister Jessica. But when a car accident takes her away also, she is forced to grieve once again until Mac steps into her life. She never wanted to give her heart to another man because her ex- boyfriend broke it so badly, but Mac has a way of opening Natalie up and shows her that she has something that is worth opening her heart up again and letting love in.

Mac can relate to Natalie on so many levels. He was faced with losing his parents at such a young age and now he tries to comfort Natalie when she needs someone the most. He just doesn’t expect to fall in love with her in the process. But the question remains can he convince her to give him a chance and see where this romance can lead. But not only does he need to break down her walls, he also is faced with a ex-girlfriend that just won’t leave him alone.

Carlie Sexton has done such a great job with this book and I can’t wait to see what she has in store next.

** I received an ARC from the Author in exchange for an honest review **

I was really looking forward to seeing what was in store for Mac and Natalie having met them in the Killer Next Door Series. Let me just say they were captivating. I absolutely devoured this book and fell for Mac in the process. Natalie and Mac share a similar past but Natalie has a lot on her plate. Still reeling from the recent loss of her sister Natalie takes comfort in Mac and his ability to make her feel whole.

So what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas unless you turn that moment of insanity into something real and meaningful. Let the swooning begin because I honestly can't think of many men who would sacrifice their own pleasure to make a woman feel as wanted and loved as Mac did.

Now every relationship has their ups and downs but they seemed to have a little bit more than the usual to contend with. I was eagerly turning the pages to see where the story would lead. Hoping all the while that Mac and Natalie would overcome all of the obstacles being thrown at them.

The story also allows us to play a alittle catch up with Neil and Kate and Mitch and Charlie. We even get a little "Roger" thrown in for good measure.

Now this is a spinoff from the Killer Next Door series and is a standalone. But if you enjoy this book and want to see how they have gotten to this point, pick up the Killer Next Door series and get ready for a ride.

Rating: 4 stars

Carlie never seizes to amaze me with her angst-filled novels, as well as some of her crazy, obsessed characters. If you've read Carlie's series The Killer Next Door then you'll already be familiar with Natalie and Mac as their best friends to the Kate and Neil (the main characters in TKND series). If you haven't read TKND series, you can still read Beholden to You, you just may feel a little lost at times. I found myself wanting to slow down Nat & Mac's story because it seemed to be fast paced. But then I realized that maybe that's what Nat needed, to stop overthinking things because if she had that time I don't think we'd have seen the ending we got. Nat and Mac both have a fear of abandonment due to both of them having experienced losing their parents and Nat having also lost her sister. They connect with one another through their shared understanding of grief. But the connection doesn't stop there as Mac will do anything to protect Nat and keep her safe. There's also the intense desire they have for one another. Mac's crazy and obsessed ex makes her entrance and this kept me turning page after page wondering what she was cooking up next. Does fear overcome Nat? Will she find something to hold on to? All of this is to be found in her journey. Give this a try!

A touching story with interesting characters that you can't help but connect with. I know loss, maybe not as deep as Natalie but I lost my mom when I was kid and it left its marks. I know what's it's like to fear and let that fear rule you. When you experience death firsthand, it makes you realize how quickly life can be lost and so the fear starts to creep in like a disease - be it to fear life, to fear death and/or to fear love. All three make you extremely vulnerable, open you up to all sorts of pain and sometimes its easier to just shut yourself off. Eventually you get to the point when you realize you'll either spend the rest of your life hiding, never really living or you can jump head first and experience everything life has to offer. Unfortunately more often then not, it takes baby steps and that's exactly what Natalie does, slowly she starts to rebuild her life after many losses and she's not sure if Mac is going to be a permanent fixture or not. What would any novel be without some complications and twists along the way, which only served to make this story that much more intriguing. Be careful, Beholden to You might just blow you away *winks*. I LOVED Beholden to You. This was my first Carlie Sexton novel and I'm not disappointed. Now I'll have to play catch up and read the novels this book is a spin-off of, Happy Reading!

Beholden to You is a beautifully written romance filled with heart break, life altering love, and a testament that what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas. Natalie is a strong but broken woman who has had the worst hand dealt to her with the loss of everyone she holds dear to her heart. She struggles to hang on without falling apart; not knowing how to carry on she struggles to live in a world truly alone; until she meets him. Mac is a woman’s dream. He is not only good looking but he is the CEO of a lucrative company with a heart of gold and the perfect gentlemen.
This book will make you believe in love at first sight and fill your heart and keep you wanting more. I couldn't put this book down I was so wrapped up in this amazing love story that I couldn't put it down until I knew if this love that started off with one drunken night in Vegas would last. I can’t say enough good things about this book; it makes you feel for the heartache that they go through and relish in the love that you can physically feel pouring from the page. A must read for anyone who needs a little more romance in their life!

This was my first book by Carlie Sexton, but it won't be my last. This was an awesome read that I did not and I could not put down, it held my attention captive from the first word to the last word!! I really enjoyed the character dynamic as well as the developing character relationships throughout the story. This wasn't your typical "happily ever after" romance book, it actually had a backstory, the current plot as well as the anticipation of the future. I enjoyed the way that it was told as well as the views of the characters. The story starts with a wedding, too much to drink and Las Vegas...and what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas! The main characters almost seem like friends by the time you have finished and make you want to call them up and ask them what happens next! This book is a feel good read and if you enjoy a good romance and a quick read, then this is the book for you! I am going to go one-click her other books right now!!

I was given an advance copy of this book to review and OMG! I've always had a soft spot for Mac and was so excited to finally read his story. Natalie is hurting. She lost her parents as a young adult, leaving her to take care of her younger sister, Jessica. When an accident caused by Jessica's drunk boyfriend kills Jessica, life suddenly becomes much harder. Mac understands too well. He lost his parents early on and was taken in by Neil's parents. Over a Thanksgiving meal, Natalie is able to share her grief and bond with Mac. As the holidays and the trial for Jessica's boyfriend approaches, Natalie and Mac head to Las Vegas to celebrate with friends. One drunken night changes everything! All Mac knows is that he wants Natalie. He will do anything in his power to keep her safe, healthy and with him.

This story has everything I've come to expect from Carlie Sexton! There is romance, love, angry/obsessive exes and more. I think this is the sweetest of her books.

Beholden to you by Carlie Sexton

Five BIG huge stars!!

Let start off by saying I have read every single one of Carlie's books since she first sent, Fallen for You. Carlie's book are the perfect mix of romance and suspense. And let me tell you Beholden to You doesn't skim on either of those!
Natalie and Mac wake up in Vegas together! And omg the drama doesn't stop there! Nat and Mac have both lost very important people on their lives and both of them are scared to lose each other and actually let themselves love each other.
Meanwhile, while they are fighting their feelings for each other some crazy things happen (I don't give away details!) and then some amazing things happen.
But I will say that Carlie has done an amazing job on these four books and I honestly can pick between Neil or Mac!
Great Job Carlie!! Can't wait for Charlie & Mitch!! <3

Natalie has lost her parents and her sister was killed in an accident, her friends are getting married and they all go to Vegas to celebrate. Sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas .... Throw in Mac's crazy ex and things get interesting. Mac is loving and sweet and will do anything to make Natalie realise they are meant to be together.
