Books that glorify the military and weapons make me angry. This book will appeal to young reluctant readers of a wide age range, but this book upset me.

***SPOILER ALERT***

Did you ever think Batman's gadgets were fake? Well than you were wrong! This book compares Batman's gadgets to the real world gadgets. The genre of this book is realistic-science.

This book shows all the gadgets Batman has and all the gadgets real people have made. 1 of the main points of this book talks about Batman's gadgets but it also talks about his vehicles and weapons he has. I think the authors purpose in writing this book was to show the reader how we have advanced in making technology and how we have the things a fiction character has.

The structure of this book adds to this book because every page of this book talks about gadget so the reader is very interested. On page 4, line 11, it said,"With his state-of-the-art suit, belt, and vehicles, Batman takes on Gotham City's criminal underworld with dazzling technology".

I like the way the author just talked about Batman's gadgets and how uses them in action. On page 26, line 1, it stated,"Calling for some bat backup isn't the only use for the Caped Crusader's sonic device".

I would rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars. I rated this book a 5 because I love learning about cool gadgets and weapons. I would recommend this book to the people who also like gadgets and weapons. Now you know that Batman isn't the only one with cool gadgets.

HS Hi-Lo Book

Tammy Enz. Batman Science: The Real-World Science Behind Batman's Gear (2014). Batman has a lot of tools to fight crime with, and this book explores the real world implications of the tools that Batman has at his disposal to fight crime. The book takes a close look at things like Batman’s suit and compares it to real world technology. For instance, the dark colors of his suit is used as camouflage for nighttime shadows much like the army uses camouflage to hide in different environments, like deserts and jungles. Batman has a batarang that he throws at enemies. It is similar to boomerangs and throwing stars in the real world. Bulletproof vests use the same technology as Batman’s bulletproof armor. Also Batman’s vehicles are looked at and explored. The Batmobile is compared with tanks and the Batwing is compared to vertical take off jets. Information is given about every real world technology that Batman’s toys come from.

I really liked this book. It was easy reading but it explored complex topics. It explained technology in easy to understand language. All of Batman’s equipment reference to their real world counterpart helped me to understand the technology behind the equipment that much more. The pages are filled with engaging illustrations of Batman’s toys and pictures of their real world equivalent. This is a great book that discusses all types of real life technology that is used for a fictional superhero. This is a great read for Batman fans and fans of real life technology. I would say that the target audience for this book is 13 years and up.

I wish this book had more pictures of Batman's actual weapons, gadgets, suits, and cars/planes. Even comparisons between what Batman has and what is really out there in technology in pictures. While all of Batman's gear is mentioned, the only pictures are of real-life technology. I was a little bit disappointed and bored by all of the repetition within each chapter. I could totally see the audience for this book though, and would recommend it to kids who like facts and military technology since that's the main focus.

This non-fiction mashup of Batman and science is a lot of fun. The cover is eye-catching. It features Batman with his arm out making a fist. The four chapters in the book cover clothing, his utility belt, vehicles, and planes/helicopters. Each chapter has lots of colorful drawings and photos, featured on colorful backgrounds. There is limited text, lots of “white” space and large type face. There are also small sections with fun facts and trivia. The book also has a table of contents, so teens can flip to a section in which they are interested, and an index in the back. Bat fun!

Not being much of a super hero fan nor a fan of engineering, I found the book a little tedious. That being said, I would recommend it for elementary, middle school, AND high school libraries. It is such a boy book that I can see it being a favorite. I will give my copy to my 9 year old grandson tomorrow.

This was an interesting book relating Batman's equipment to real-life technology. Much of it has been developed in the real world and is used by either the military or the police. Each piece is well thought out and constantly advancing, with new technology coming out often. It's really cool to see how it correlates.

This book is a scientific explanation about how Batman could technically exist. I read it and liked it very much. I recommend it for anyone who likes watching superhero movies, reading comic books, ALL Batman fans, and people who just like an explanation for things. I enjoyed it very much and if you're planning to read it, I hope you enjoy it, too.

That was so great! I realize it's aimed at a young audience but I still found it very informative. I wish they had a version for adults! I found myself wanting to research so many things in greater detail. Great job! I hope this gets updated as new technology emerges.

While Batman may not be an actual reality, many of the techniques and skills he uses are real. This book explores the real science behind Batman. This masked superhero is not far from a reality in the near future.

I'm a homeschool mom so I got this book for my son to read. He loved it. I ended up reading it to give him a quiz on the book, and it's great book. I'd highly recommend it for any kid that's into science.
