Father to the Fatherless: The Charles Mulli Story

Rate this book
Six-year-old Charles Mulli wakes up in his Kenyan hut to discover his parents have abandoned him. Forced to beg from hut to hut in search of food, Charles scrapes out a meagre existence while trying to come to terms with his abusive past and seemingly hopeless future. As a teenager, Charles is invited by a friend to a crusade where he commits his life to Christ. That act begins a unique adventure of faith, miracles, and a passion for reaching street children. After years of struggle, Charles experiences unprecedented success. He finds a wonderful wife, raises a family, excels in business to such a degree that he creates an empire that is noticed by the President of Kenya. Charles becomes a pinnacle in the Church movement, but then his life changes again. In spite of his tremendous achievements, the plight of the growing street children problem in his country remains strong in Charles' heart. He is unable to shut out their cries, the cries he understands so well, and he realizes he must respond. Convicted by God to give away all his possessions, Charles sells everything to pursue his passion of rescuing street children from the slums of Kenya. He battles against corrupt religious establishments, supernatural enemies, and intense financial pressures to bring hope to those whose lives reflect his own childhood. Mully Children's Family (MCF) Orphanage was founded and established by Charles and Esther Mulli in response to the desperate needs of street children, abandoned children, and HIV/AIDS orphans in Kenya in 1989. Father to the Fatherless is the true story of a man whose life begins in desperate poverty, moves to riches, and finally servanthood, where he becomes a real-life demonstration of selfless love and sacrifice that challenges us to evaluate the cost of giving up all to God in the service of others.

Charles was emotionally and physically abandoned by his horribly abusive father and co-dependant mother while still extremely young. As a teen he is saved at a youth rally his frined invites him to.

He gets a small job so he can stop begging, stealing and rummaging through garbage for food. Quickly he moves up through the company and eventually saves enough to start his own business.Part of Charles' heart remains with the street children. So regularly he brings them food, teachs them games and about God's love for them. Eventually he brings a few home and snowballs from there.

Through out this true story are examples of God making the impossible possible. Charles puts God's will first and totally trust God to provide for it.

There are sceens of :extreme violence, demon possesions, talk of child sex slaves and prostitution.

The story of Charles mulli is amazing
There are not too many people that I consider heroes on earth but mulli is one of them
Going from being a street beggar as a kid in Kenya after being abandoned by his parents to having wealth and status, and then giving it all away to serve orphans
I give the author almost as great of praise for his ability to bring the story to life
Smoothly Weaving in the thoughts of mully throughout the story
I recommend this book to everyone, for hope, inspiration, and humility

Mr. Mulli is the epitome of submitting your will to the Lord in order to have Him work miracles in your life and in the lives of others. The brutality at the beginning of this book is necessary to cringe through to receive the good news. Everyone should read this book, to see the power that God can make happen through the human conduit.

I was so completely impressed with this incredible man and his bold, unfailing faith. It was amazing to read about his ministry, the miracles they continually experience and the changes in the lives of the hundreds of street children they have rescued in Kenya. There were parts of the book that were pretty brutal and hard to read as it deals with the realities of abuse and the life of children who live on the street, but avoiding the painful realities of the world does not help motivate us to make a difference. I really loved this book and I pray that it stays with me and leaves me changed because of it!

Father to the Fatherless is an absolutely amazing book, documenting an even more amazing story. I got the privilege to meet Mr. Mulli, and visit one of his MCF sites. He is saving hundreds of lives from poverty, hunger, violence and all the other horrors of living on the streets in Kenya. His kids are provided with everything they need, education, food, clothes, beds, love and a family. I have never met such appreciative and strong children, and they all have one man to thank. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone, and also that they make a donation to his foundation, or send clothes, because i have seen first hand how helpful those things are.

I had read this book for an elective class for University. Usually I dont like books given to me and be told to read them because I have certain tastes. But after reading this book, I realized that trying new genres is good. This book made me cry A LOT. Reading the words, I felt the pain and I was honestly scared to read the next word. It teaches bravery and love. It gives you a reality check of a life, a new connection with God and Faith. It is a wonderful book, a wonderful story and for those who love reading about miracles, this is the book for you!

Cheers and Good Readings!

Reading this book and the true accounts of the miraculous way that God used this one man was exactly the boost I needed. I work as a social worker and the homeless are my target population. They are often stuck in heartbreaking cycles of poverty that I struggle to believe they can ever break out of. Their poverty of course is nothing compared to the poverty of the people Charles Mulli reached, which only increases the hope and inspiration a story like this produces. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book.

This book is a testimony of what God can do through someone completely surrendered to Him. Charles Mulli began life in poverty and neglect, through hard work became wealthy, then gave it all up to help street children, who reminded him of his early years. This true story takes place in Kenya. Having traveled there several times, I found many references to food, places and phrases to be very familiar.

Wonderful story and well written. It is a miracle story about one man's willingness to do something about the fatherless children in Africa. It is more than that though because it tells the story of one man finding and doing his life's calling instead of seeking out the world's agenda for wealth and power.

The true story of a Kenyan man whose life began in desperate poverty, and who eventually became a highly successful businessman who then felt called to reach out to help orphans and street children in a way that would give them the same hope in Jesus and the same hope for their future that he experienced.

What an incredible story!
God is amazing in the work He does and the love He shows to all people.
This is proof that God does care about the darkness in the world and He wants to use His people to be His hands and feet to bring heaven to earth.

An amazing story of how a boy who was in poverty got himself out and then turned around and helped street children. I really enjoyed it. Also shows how God provides if we trust in him.
