In an effort to help to help my nephew join the PC-gaming elite by building his own PC, I've been searching the web for videos and other helpful resources. While this book is ten years dated at this point, the essential process of building a PC remains the same, and the only weak points from age are recommended specs, the low profile of USB storage devices and connectors here, and the reference to IDE instead of SATA cables. Because completing PCs is a sequential process in itself -- necessarily starting with the case and motherboard, and building on that -- Chambers' organization simply follows the process. After assuring novices that building a computer isn't difficult, requiring patience and a screwdriver, Chambers reviews installation of core components: the motherboard, processor, power supply, and RAM. He then moves to storage, optical drives, graphics and sound cards, and so on. The DVD is divided into the same sections for ease of access.
