Rajneesh (born Chandra Mohan Jain, 11 December 1931 – 19 January 1990) and latter rebranded as Osho was leader of the Rajneesh movement. During his lifetime he was viewed as a controversial new religious movement leader and mystic.
In the 1960s he traveled throughout India as a public speaker and was a vocal critic of socialism, Mahatma Gandhi, and Hindu religious orthodoxy.
Rajneesh emphasized the importance of meditation, mindfulness, love, celebration, courage, creativity and humor—qualities that he viewed as being suppressed by adherence to static belief systems, religious tradition and socialization.
In advocating a more open attitude to human sexuality he caused controversy in India during the late 1960s and became known as "the sex guru".
In 1970, Rajneesh spent time in Mumbai initiating followers known as "neo-sannyasins". During this period he expanded his spiritual teachings and commented extensively in discourses on the writings of religious traditions, mystics, and philosophers from around the world. In 1974 Rajneesh relocated to Pune, where an ashram was established and a variety of therapies, incorporating methods first developed by the Human Potential Movement, were offered to a growing Western following. By the late 1970s, the tension between the ruling Janata Party government of Morarji Desai and the movement led to a curbing of the ashram's development and a back taxes claim estimated at $5 million.
In 1981, the Rajneesh movement's efforts refocused on activities in the United States and Rajneesh relocated to a facility known as Rajneeshpuram in Wasco County, Oregon. Almost immediately the movement ran into conflict with county residents and the state government, and a succession of legal battles concerning the ashram's construction and continued development curtailed its success.
In 1985, in the wake of a series of serious crimes by his followers, including a mass food poisoning attack with Salmonella bacteria and an aborted assassination plot to murder U.S. Attorney Charles H. Turner, Rajneesh alleged that his personal secretary Ma Anand Sheela and her close supporters had been responsible. He was later deported from the United States in accordance with an Alford plea bargain.[
After his deportation, 21 countries denied him entry. He ultimately returned to India and a revived Pune ashram, where he died in 1990. Rajneesh's ashram, now known as OSHO International Meditation Resort and all associated intellectual property, is managed by the Zurich registered Osho International Foundation (formerly Rajneesh International Foundation). Rajneesh's teachings have had a notable impact on Western New Age thought, and their popularity has increased markedly since his death.
“ The only way to know something absolutely is to experience it for yourself; anything less is theory, speculation, and belief. ”
“I don't want anybody to stand between the individual and existence. No prayer, no priest -- you alone are enough to face the sunrise.”
“The world is not a problem; the problem is your unawareness”
“ Let this become your key - next time when anger comes, just watch it. Don't say, “I am angry.” Say, “Anger is there and I am watching it.” And see the difference! The difference is vast. Suddenly you are out of the grip of anger. If you can say, “I am just a watcher, I am not anger,” you are out of the grip.”
“I believe that the very effort to convert anybody is violence, it is interfering in his individuality, in his uniqueness, into his freedom. ”
“ I am all in favor of the skeptical mind. Do not believe anything unless you have experienced it. Do not believe anything - go on questioning, however long it takes. ”
“Don't look for God in the sky; look within your own body. ”
“ I am nobody's disciple. I don't belong to any belief system. I love people from all over the world and I never compare them. They are all unique, a Zarathustra is a Zarathustra, a Mahavira is a Mahavira, a Buddha is a Buddha, a Jesus is a Jesus, a Moses is a Moses... they are so unique that you should not make one of them a criterion that everybody else has to fit with. ”

"Live your life but don't live your life for other's appraisal" The title of the book was little weird. I was dubious of what this book about. I was astonished after reading this book. Osho's way of looking into life was entirely different. This book was written after the period of absolute silence of four years. He artfully manages to bring the fragrance of the wordless space into words. Insights 1. WHO AM I? The authentic question asked by many of them. The only way to know is to be silent, be alert and be aware. "Jump in yourself and you will plunge out with answers". 2. THOUGHTS Discern your thoughts. Whether those are yours or said by someone like parents, teachers, elders, priest etc. Delete those and start fresh. Thoughts which are learnt from your own experience are only true and other's are totally lie. 3. GOD There is no god but there is godliness which is present in each human beings. Godliness is the higher conscious energy. We humans are energies in the universe. 4. EGO Ego is your enemy. Kill your ego by staying alert and meditation. It hides the brightness when you are in light.
He has shared his delightful journey of life and revolutionary insights in this book. He is not brain washing people but certainly dry cleaning the brains from the myths. @osho_loversss @oshointernational @osho_meditation @oshoecstasy

Honestly a very dry boring repetetive read. Many common buddihst or just general "common sense" lines and concepts that I feel added mostly nothing new. The darker side appealed to me but it was still pretty average and not at all inventive. He repeats himself and reiterates both within the paragraph a lot and in the boook in general, in a way that makes it feel like he is out of ideas.
"The first thing is to be oneself." "And the second thing is to know who one is." "So remain yourself." "Remain natural." "Try to become more and more aware of what this life current is that is running in you." "Who is beating in your heart." "Who is behind your breathing." ~Osho
