Ryan Richmond has dreamed about going to space since the age of seven. Reading space updates—and seeing pictures of Neil Armstrong on the lunar surface in National Geographic—was the ignition of this dream.
At nineteen he sold his first company and employed the remnants of the Russian Space Program, three of the best space brains in the world.
In his twenties he founded and sold two more companies and hired the most outstanding scientists and engineers from the European Space Authority.
During his thirties, after selling his third company, he invested heavily in Internet start-ups, like Google, netting billions.
Then he patiently waited until NASA’s shuttle program came to an end and contracted the best brains in the U.S. Space program.
Now, Ryan Richmond is in his forties, and still wants to go to space.
The only problem is that the newly elected Administration and members of Congress don’t have a current space program, and they want his!

T I Wade was born in Bromley, Kent, England in 1954. His father, a banker was promoted with his International Bank to Africa and the young family moved to Africa in 1956. The author grew up in Southern Rhodesia. Once he had completed his mandatory military commitments, at 21 he left Africa to mature in Europe. He enjoyed Europe and lived in three countries; England, Germany and Portugal for 15 years before returning to Africa; Cape Town in 1989. Here the author owned and ran a restaurant, a coffee manufacturing and retail business, flew a Cessna 210 around desolate southern Africa and finally got married in 1992. Due to the upheavals of the political turmoil in South Africa, the Wade family of three moved to the United States in 1996. Park City, Utah was where his writing career began. To date T I Wade has written sixteen novels.
I am a big fan of this author. His stories feature great character back stories and a LOT of technical detail which is a hallmark of many of my favorite authors. In this, the second book of the America One series, Ryan Richmond's company gets his ship into space and starts mining an asteroid.
The book is very timely on two fronts. NASA has made news recently with their discussion about pulling an asteroid into orbit around the moon just as this book comes out. Government agencies in the book violate civil liberties in this book in ways very similar to our current discussion on gun control and executive powers.
If you do not like a book rich in detail you can skip the detailed accounts of space travel to focus on the main story but in my opinion you lose out on a lot of interesting information.
If you are looking for a quick weekend read or an action packed adventure that is adrenaline from beginning to end you would be better off looking into novels of that genre because that is not this. There are some very good action scenes though and I particularly enjoyed the main character taking jabs at the rapacious government officials in this book.
This series has really surprised me. When I started the first book, only $0.99 at Amazon for the Kindle version, I didn't expect to get a book that I couldn't put down. The first book finished with a major cliffhanger so I bought this book immediately and couldn't put this down either. Once again, the author developed some great characters...ones that you liked and rooted for, as well as the villains. This series has already become one of my favorites and I can't wait for the next book coming out in April 2013.
Ok, I thought the first book was excellent writing but this one is even better. Yes, alot of techy stuff but it is necessary for the unfolding drama. I will be starting the 3rd book pronto!
Read these books and imagine that our government really could do this to people!
This is the 2nd book of the series. Some of the conversations come across a little corny & the relationships appear silly at times. Yet, I'm enjoying the storyline. No one will confuse this with a classic but as far as getting into space, this seems possible. I'm not a science nerd & some of the science here may be way off. Oh well, I'm not looking for perfection. Just got the 3rd book. I will continue with the series.
Interesting....I enjoyed it, but at times, it seemes a bit too far out. Specifically, the fact of how fat technologically advanced the group is compared to the rest of the world. It lost a lot of believability from the first book...
Excellent book, better than book 1, I looking forward to third book. We need more people thinking about our future and leading instead of relying on politicians who are selfish.
an even better continuation of the saga it's portrayal of corruption in the U.S. government is so dead on of the recent Bush administration , I was surprised he even bothered to change the characters name. It makes my blood boil almost as much as our real corrupt ex-president did. ( oops I think I just ended up on the watchdog lists of the F.B.I., N.S.A., and homeland security. ) Oh well ! , such is the price of political criticism. A much more thrilling read than book one , it grabs hold of you and doesn't let go , building tension at every turn of the page. It left me thirsting for book #3. I am hooked and must now commit to the entire series. My only request is that I wish T.J. Wade would publish a book of illustrations of the ship, shuttles and technologies portrayed in the books , it would really flesh out the series.
Being left with a cliffhanger in book one book two flowed perfectly. Well written storyline amazing characters that pull you along with excitement and depth
