BLOG TOUR STOP: http://heabookshelf.blogspot.com/2013...

Trying to recover emotionally from a tragedy that completely changed her life, S'renaty (Ren) decides to have a fresh start. She moves away from the friends she no longer had and the people that literally tormented her.
"Often times I would walk across university grounds only to be shoved from behind, out of nowhere."

Ren meets Stefan in the last place she ever expected to meet someone and she definitely did not think she would see him again, much less in the place she was now calling home. Now with Stefan in her life, Ren slowly begins to live again, to let go of her pain. More importantly, she lets herself love... something she didn't think she deserved.
"You are me wish come true. You are my girl, my Star."

"I love you more than words can say, to the moon and back."

Ren sure as hell didn't expect for her past to come face to face not only with her present, but her future... in more ways than one. Queue the plot twists. People from her past make appearances, secrets get revealed, and the many, many questions are slowly answered. Throughout the book we see Stefan and Ren overcome the many obstacles they face and grow as a couple. We see them both let go of theirs pasts...of their inner demons.... Because yes, Stefan too has his share of emotional scars.
"You're the light of my life, giving light to my darkness, and removing the shame I've carried around all of these years."

In this book we also meet Tucker, Ren's ex-boyfriend. He was someone that was supposed to have her back when she needed support the most.... Someone who was supposed to believe her.... but didn't. So he was that someone Ren chose to remove from her life in order to move forward, even though they were now living in the same city... again. But we'll see more of him. We're getting Tucker's full story in Mel Ballew's next book "FearLess."

Anyway, my favorite part of this book was the epilogue! It was super long and I absolutely love that in books. This allows me as a reader to fully get closure, so I was very excited and happy with that. Oh, and this book has the most amazing quotes ever!!! Every chapter has one in the beginning but we also get a few more throughout the story. I'm a huge quote freak lover so this was a plus. I also really liked how music had such an important role in the story line... like huge. Ren used music for so much more than just therapy or as an escape. She literally applied it to her daily life.

Overall however, there were moments where I found myself lacking connection with the writing style. But I must clarify that this is something personal that varies with each reader...so don't let it stop you from reading it. This all said, I believe "ShameLess" is a good and emotional book with a deep romance and a plot full of twists. I'm very much looking forward to Tucker's story.
"No more shame; only love."

Shameless is incredible!!! It is a romance story but I think so many people that normally don’t read romances will want to read this! It is an amazing journey!!

S’renaty (Ren) goes through a traumatic experience in the beginning of the book which changes her completely. She goes through therapy for a few years and she finally feels ready to move on and get her life back.

Ren goes off to college where she meets Stefan. Stefan knows that he wants her and makes no secret about it. Ren however, isn’t quite ready to jump into any sort of relationships.

“You’re the light of my life, giving light to my darkness, and removing the shame I’ve carried around all of these years.”

However, Stefan has a few secrets of his own. He has faced tragedy in his past too. However, he has kept something a secret from Ren that once she finds, will leave her crushed.

Ren and Stefan have faced great tradgedy in their lives. But together, they learn to let go of their pasts, demons and be able to let others in. People from Ren’s past come back into the picture which just adds to the story. This story just isn’t about their love, it’s about learning how to move on from your past, make peace and be able to hand all those obstacles thrown at you in life.

“Live like you are dying. You only live once. Take a ride on the crazy train of life” – Mel Ballew

I love that at the beginning of every chapter, there are quotes. I am a huge quotes nut, so this was just a huge plus for me!! They fit perfectly into the whole story!

Shameless is an awesome book – very well written and just sucks you in from the moment you start reading it. You are always wanting to know what Ren is going to do and how things are going to turn out. You will feel all of Ren’s emotions – it’s impossible not to. Ren’s journey is amazing – just makes you wake up and realize how prescious life is and to never take things for granted.

I became a fan of Mel Ballew when I read and reviewed Shattered Into Beautiful. True to form Mel hits it out of the park with another emotionally charged romantic and suspenseful novel. ShameLess is a great 4 star read!

Right out of the gate S’renaty (Ren) suffers a life altering tragedy. Time passes and slowly she puts the pieces back together with the help of her family and therapy. Despite all that she has been through Ren is a strong young woman who needs just a little help finding her way.

As Ren is finding the strength to move on she meets Stefan. Stefan definitely leaves an impression but not a good one.

Ren moves away from her friends and family as she attempts to rebuild her life. Imagine her surprise when Ren turns up in her life, yet again.

They have a connection like no other but it is not without its flaws. Both Ren and Stefan's lives have been touched by loss and heartbreak.

"You are my wish come true. You are my girl, my Star."

As fate would have it Stefan is keeping a life changing secret from Ren. Can their relationship withstand? Will Ren suffer yet another heartbreak?

"There are times in your life when you have to accept your past to welcome your future."

"You're the light of my life, giving light to my darkness, and removing the shame I've carried around all these years."

The perfect icing on the cake is the Epilogue. It truly brings the story full circle and gives us the closure we need to heal our soul. I am an Epilogue fan and Mel delivers one of the best I have ever read!

Mel Ballew is a great story teller. You can feel that she pours her heart into every page.

SHAMELESS by Mel Ballew had my heart pounding from the very first page. When you start reading, you are automatically transported to the scene and it's intense and emotional right off the bat. THAT is how you captivate a reader! Seeing that Mel Ballew is a brand new author to me, I'm glad she hooked me at the beginning.

I want to say just a few words on what bothered me a little bit during the story, just so I can get it out of the way. I'm not a huge fan of switching back and forth with the POV's. I think in some stories it works, but if there is one discrepancy between the two POV's it could ruin the scene for me and I find myself having to read it over again to try and understand what happened. There were a couple times I had to do this in SHAMELESS, and some parts just didn't add up, so I was a little bit confused. By no means did it keep me from finishing this story, because it really was all together captivating, with such a unique storyline, and such great bouts of suspense that kept me on my toes.

Not only did this have just the right amount of suspense, it was full of beautiful and sensual love scenes that made your heart melt. Another great thing the author did in this story was tie in music lyrics. I am such a fan of music and I LOVED that. It helps portray the emotion in that very moment and gives you a chance to connect more with the characters. Mel Ballew will be an author to watch out for!

I was lucky enough to be a beta reader for Mel on ShameLess, I absolutely loved it from the beginning. She has a way with words and just sucks you right in. From the first chapter I was on the edge.

S’renaty is going through a hard time with her recent life changing events. Not a lot of people have to suffer what she has gone through so early in life. She just wants to get through school and get out of the town that reminds her of everything.

“What I am saying is that I actually believe it is in my best interest to try to move forward. I think I need to start anew. I have been thinking about proposing the idea to my parents about transferring schools so I can start over, make new friends, and try to recover the pieces of me I have lost.” – S’renaty

Stefan is not looking for anyone; he is just trying to get himself out of a situation. When he meets S’renaty everything changes, she is leaves him breathless. He wants to do whatever it takes to protect her, even by breaking his deal with the devil.

The ‘devil’ bends down and picks up my cell. Through furrowed brow and a firm voice, he makes direct eye contact with me before saying, “Ren, eh? Falling in love with her was NOT part of our deal. Keep your dick in your pants and your heart in check, boy, or the deal is off...”

This story is beautiful, It takes shape and grabs a hold of you and doesn’t let go till the very end. Mel Ballew does give us a happy ending but, with the characters she has made us love it will leave you wanting more! I can NOT wait for FearLess! I absolutely loved that Mel put quotes before her chapters, to me that helps shape the chapter you’re about to read. And how about that beautiful cover?! Thank you Mel , I know I for one am glad you are sharing your stories with us!
p.s. I am just saying that Ashley and Alli the twins in the book seem like pretty cool chicks if you ask me

Below are some of my favorite quotes from ShameLess.

“Ren, Hi! I’m Alli,” and pointing to the two girls who are sitting in the backseat, “and, this is Ashley, and Kathy. Get in. Debi sent us for you, we hear it’s your birthday and it’s time to par-tay!” I open the door, and climb in. Immediately, the girls get under way talking about how Debi is a friend so any friend of Debi’s is a friend of theirs. I am at ease almost directly. They are so similar to Debi; warm, open, and friendly that they make it really easy for me. As Alli drives, we all take turns chatting and the conversation flows extremely well. Ashley and Alli are identical twin sisters and grew up knowing Debi.”

“I wished for you on every shooting star when I was little. Now, if I gathered all of the stars I wished for you on, none could ever shine brighter than you. You are my shooting star, Ren. You are here with me walking this beach. I may have fucked up, but I swear to you, to God, and every single star in this sky, I will never give you up!” -Stefan

“It's my life
It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive”
Here’s your sign, S’renaty! Here’s your sign!

I ain’t your grandma’s Cassanova. – Stefan

“Hit me with your best shot, I will find my way!” Mel Ballew

WOW! ShameLess is one heck of ride. Though I did feel depressed through the first half of the book hoping Ren would be okay in life, I was gripped by her tale.
Ren had the perfect life. She had the best friends and was at the top of the social food chain, until that tragic night when she felt like she lost everything. Her best friend died that night... It has been two years since that night and Ren is now determined that she is going to move on with her life, not forgetting the tragedy of the past, but moving forward one small step at a time.
But at the first opportunity she has at college, he steals her breath from her. He can have any woman he wants, and usually he does. But there is something about Ren that just captivates him. She turned down his charms, she walked away... but that wasn't going to stop Stefan. He is in awe of her and knows instantly that she is not like all the others. She is going to be worth winning.
Both of these characters experienced very big losses in their lives, but he is much better at repressing the feelings of his because he wants to make her whole again... but that's not why he is there. He still has a job to do.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I was constantly wondering what Ren was going to run into around each corner with each breath she took. I loved the dynamic between Ren and Stefan and I really wanted them to survive. But some things are just unforgiveable, right? Well, maybe...
I loved the characters in this story. The tragedies they faced and the hearts they wanted to mend, but there was so much more to this story than just a college romance. This story was full of twists and turns and I questioned so much and so many of the characters as I was reading it, waiting for the next shoe to drop.
Mel Ballew takes these characters on an amazing journey, not only through life but through love. It is beautifully written and tugs at the heart. The suspense was nerving to say the least, but the strength Ren and Stefan found in each other and in the stars certainly would help them through the tough situations they faced throughout the story, right?
This book was a reminder that each day is a gift and it is important to remember that it may be your last and you need to live like it will be and when it is not, when you wake up the next day, you have been given a new gift. It was inspiring.

Twists and turns galore

SHAME
- a painful emotion caused by consciousness of guilt, shortcoming, or impropriety.

S'renaty James feels guilty and this guilt she is carrying has morphed into shame, shame so thick that she carries it around like an armor. She is letting it eat away at the person she used be. After a tragic accident which resulted in her being persecuted by the people who used to be her friends, she was never the same. But she is trying to move on and trying to leave shame behind and lead a Shameless life.

"There are times in your life when you have to accept your past to welcome your future."

Stefan may not be the person S'renaty sees herself being with. He is a ruggedly sexy badboy that she should stay away from. But he may be exactly what she needs. Stefan comes with secrets, secrets that will hurt S'renaty when she finds out. Secrets that can break her even more. Is she willing to take that chance?

"Vulnerability is a powerful thing. By accepting weakness, it forces you to open yourself up. It supports the need to trust the other person, giving you strength."

Shameless was an interesting read. Super emotional in the beginning. Had me tearing up and hurting for S'renaty. Then it took a turn and I was left a bit unsure where the events that were happening were coming from. There were so many twists and turns that I was unsure which direction I was facing after a few too many. It did have some really great sexy scenes that I really--really enjoyed. Though, I felt something was a bit off with the story. I don't know if it was the connection between the characters or that sometimes the characters contradicted each other in when it switched POV's. Sometimes it seemed like the two story lines weren't matching up.

BUT...I did enjoy the story and for a while there I was sure it was going to be a 5 star read. One of the things that I enjoyed the most in the story was how Mel Ballew incorporated quotes (sometimes her own quotes and sometimes others' quotes) throughout the story. These quotes really added a lot to the story and I found myself looking forward to the next one while reading. It was a nice touch. So, overall, it was a very emotional story of heartbreak, loss, guilt, love and finally healing.

Shameless was a great story with some twists that I did not see coming! The author surprised me a few times when I was for sure I knew what was going to happen next and nope I would be completely wrong and think… Wow, I didn’t see that happening! One of my favorite parts about the book was how the author put a quote before each chapter begun. Every quote was very fitting and I actually caught myself reading a specific part of the chapter thinking this is why she picked that quote. The little things like this totally make a book for me! Another reason was because she made the 2 main characters Ren & Stefan bookworms!!!

“I can’t wait to get back and start the new release of a romantic suspense I recently one-clicked.” -Ren

Loved it when I read this line because all of us readers know we love to one-click! I loved that the book wasn’t way too much but wasn’t such a light read either. It was right in the middle, with a great HEA!

My heart broke for Ren at the beginning of the book when her tragic story gets played out for us. Ren found out that one night can change everything you thought was going to happen in your life no matter how perfect and untouched you think you are. Friends are quick to judge you and push you further down then you already are. Ren experienced this with full force and handled herself very well through it all. It may take years but Ren finds her strength to start over.

“I feel like the extent of my pain is subjective to the part of my soul that was once stronger. It fights for dominance, yet feels strangled by the ghost of my past.” -Ren

Stefan was broken and didn’t allow anyone to see that. He didn’t let anyone into his heart and had no desire to do so. So when he saw Ren and it made his heart stop and feel things he never felt before he wasn’t sure how to react to it.

“You’re breaking me, you know that, right?” -Stefan

"No, I am saving you. Or, maybe you’re saving me… Either way, I want you. I hope you want me too.” -Ren

When two people are broken sometime they need someone else to make them whole again. Go read Stefan & Ren’s story! I give this book 4.5 stars!

Shameless by Mel Ballew is incredible. Mel’s writing style is absolutely exquisite. There is something refreshing and unique about how she incorporates imagery and motifs, creating this beautiful story that entices you page after page. Each chapter was laced with such eloquence; I devoured this story and couldn’t stop reading until I reached the end.

This novel is a contemporary romance, but it’s not your average boy meets girl story. The plot is full of suspense, unexpected twists, and tragedy making it anything but predictable. I feel like readers of all genres would fall in love with this story even if they don’t typically read contemporary romance.

“A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a small step.” – Lao Tzu

Before each chapter, a quote is included. These are truly some of the most inspirational quotes I have ever read. I want to print them out and read them every day for motivation and a quick pick me up.

“Feelings are much like waves, we can’t stop them from coming, we can only choose which one to surf.” – Jonatan Martensson

The main characters, S’renaty and Stefan, have both been dealt unexpected loss in their lives. Through their shared heartbreak, they build a connection, which is tested by various obstacles throughout the novel. As much as this story is about their love, it is also about finding peace and closure in life’s unexpected turns. The characters can’t change their past, but they can control the outcome of their future.

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.” – A headstone in Ireland

Overall Shameless was a truly stunning read. It is an unexpected gem amongst a sea of coal and unlike anything I have read as of late. The story is so moving, your heart can’t help but break alongside S’renaty’s. Once broken, chapter-by-chapter, Shameless pieces it back together while warming your soul. It was beyond incredible, and I want to read it again just to experience every tear, smile, and heart flutter that I did the first time.

S’renaty James (Ren) has had a tragic life. On prom night her best friend, Elle, walked in on Ren making out with her boyfriend (or so she thought) and drove off in a fit of rage. After chasing her down to explain the situation, Elle and Ren were pulled over on the side of the road and were struck by a truck. Ren survived, Elle didn’t, and Ren believed it was entirely her fault. Everyone else in town believed it was, too, including her boyfriend of 2 years, Tucker. Now, she has no one left. Two years in therapy and she still carries the guilt of killing her best friend. In an effort to escape her past and start over, Ren decides to go to college out of town.

Ren meets her new roommate, Jade, who is bubbly, energetic, almost exactly how Elle used to be, and they are immediately best friends. At her first frat party, Ren runs into Stefan Esposito, whom she had met before, but never thought she’d see again. Ren also sees Tucker, one of the people she was trying so hard to get away from, and runs. Soon Ren has two guys vying for her heart. She has a past with Tucker, but he left her when she needed him most. Now he’s back and trying to make things right, but does he deserve a second chance? Stefan immediately makes it clear he wants Ren, but can she let him in and let herself be loved? Can they help each other move past the shame of their pasts?

Romance plays a huge part in ShameLess, but it is not just a love story, by any means. Throughout the entire story there is mystery and suspense: What deal did Stefan make? Who is the stranger following Ren? Who are the texts coming from?

I really enjoyed this story. From the first couple of pages, I was hooked, and the plot twists had me floored. I did have a little trouble connecting with the characters at first, but by the end I was totally hooked and it left me a little teary eyed. I especially loved the quotes at the beginning of each chapter and the writing style of the author was beautifully descriptive. I look forward to reading Tucker’s story in FearLess.

What a wonderful book! I didn't know what to expect or what this book would be about, but so happy I read it.

S'renaty James has went through so much in the last 2 years. She decides it is time for a fresh start. She wants to arrive somewhere nobody knows her and all the bad things that have happened to her over the past 2 years of her life to go away.

S'renaty ends up going away to college and meets a new friends and some from the past. In the story they call her Ren as a nickname. She has a lot of pain and anger you will see her go through throughout the book.

Tucker- Tucker is the boyfriend from her past. He was horrible to her after the accident and he comes back to prove he is sorry for not being there in the hardest time of her life.

Stefan- OMG swoon worthy is written all over Mr. Greek God!! I love him! He will be added to my ever growing BB list! He tells her this.."You are my wish come true. You are my girl, my Star." <<<<<
Shameless will immediately suck you in. I don't want to give too much away. I'm sure you are asking why did she go away? What happened to her two years ago? You will learn all of that in the first few pages! It is beautifully written. I laughed out loud, had tears and swooned all at the same time!

I give Shameless 5 stars! One of my favorite parts is at the beginning of every chapter you get a quote. I loved the different POV's I like hearing from both sides of the story. This story is full of heartache, letting go, new beginnings and putting yourself back together after being broken for so long! Thank you Mel Ballew for such a beautiful story!

"Feelings are much like waves, we can’t stop them from coming, we can only choose which one to surf."– Jonatan Martensson

AMAZING!

"No more shame, only love."

A devastating turn of events after prom turns S'renatys life upside down.

'My heart bleeds as my eyes overflow with the pain pouring out from the depths of my soul.'

You feel as though you are right along side Ren through all the ups and downs! I can't even begin to imagine what she went through, I just know I wanted to jump in my kindle and hug the crap out of her!!!

Stefan, oh boy, I'll take one of those please ;))

"You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough."

This boy, or should I say this man, is the sweetest, kindest, and strongest guy ever!

Did I mention that dimples are my WEAKNESS?!? oh boy!

I loved where the story went, so many twist and turns. Some I picked instantly, others, for example 70% bitchslaped me in the face, right out of left field and I LOVED IT!

Every.Single.Second!!

My favourite part.... The epilogue. I adore LONG epilogues, it gives so much more to the story in my opinion! And what a wonderful one this was *sigh* I luff it so hard <3

I am very much looking forward to the next instalment 'FearLess'

I'm hoping my feelings for this kid pick up a little higher than they are right now!!

My two favourite lines!

"You're mine, Star. I expect you're going to tell numb-nuts right?"

"Forever, baby, we will orbit space together."

Thank you Mel, I truly loved ShameLess :)

At the start of this story S'renaty James suffers a traumatic event which totally changes her life. In the aftermath she is shunned by her so called friends, rejected by the person closest to her, and made to feel that she is to blame for everything.

Several years later, after a lot of therapy, S'renaty, or Ren as she prefers to be called, finally feels able to move on with her life and starts college full of positive thoughts. She is looking forward to starting afresh and leaving the bad memories from the past behind her.

Into her life steps Stefan, and throws all of her plans into disarray. Stefan makes it clear, almost from the outset, that he likes Ren, but she is having none of it. But over time Stefan manages to work his way into Ren's heart.

"Tomorrow may still be a mystery, but today is unraveling, slowly. It's like opening a gift, and one I have every intention of treating with care...unwrapping it gently to savor it's blessing. Here is to the present; to us!"

However, even as she gives her heart to him, the reader discovers that Stefan is hiding something. A secret so huge it will break Ren's heart once again if it ever comes out.

And of course it does come out, in the aftermath to yet another shocking event. Ren is left devastated for the second time in her life, and has to deal with the repercussions once again.

This is a very well written story which will draw you in very quickly as you read Ren's story and share her emotions. The journey she takes within its pages really held my attention

Oh my where do I even start. How do I go about this with out giving something a way. I was about 3% in and I was hooked. My heart was racing and I was eager to get through to see what was going to happen next. Then BAM! OH MY......WHAT THE HECK, how can you do this to me Mel? I had been told she was a good writer but seriously good does not even scratch the surface of her talent. The feelings just poured out of the book and I could feel everything that each character was going through and dealing with. I was an emotional wreck when I finished. It had me laughing and crying and wanting to dance around with my hair brush like a mic singing the songs she mentioned. There are twists and turns and things that you never see coming and you just hold on and hope for the best. Can you move on from such a tragic loss? Can Ren find happiness and keep it? Will she be pulled under by the depression of the loss and betrayals? I guess you will just have to read it and see because I'm not going to tell you what happens. This is a book you need to read and experince for yourself. I think it will be sticking with me for a long time and I have found another author that I want to get everything she has written and read it and I will be keeping my eyes and ears open for future releases. Simply put a MUST READ for everyone! If it doesn't touch you and make you cry then your heart is made of cold stone or you simply don't have one.

Wow is all I can say to describe this book. It's full of emotion, loss, and romance. I was hooked right from the start and stayed up very late to finish it.

Ren's pain from losing her friend was something no one could imagine while Stefan's loss was his mom. Ren had been tossed away by her friends and wanting a new start in college, but little did she know she was in danger. Along comes Stefan, the typical player. He has own secret while finding himself more drawn to Ren than he could possibly imagine.

I love to see how Ren flourished from the isolation she was in to having friends and finally coming out of her former shell. The attraction between them was so touching and the connection they shared from each other's loss is the glue that binds them together.

This was beautifully written and I found myself feeling like some of the parts really touched my soul. This book is one of those rare ones that really hit me deep down and actually made me think of my own life and how a person needs to stay strong and continue living no matter what.

This is the first book I have read from Mel and if this is any indication of what her future books will look like, then I am a forever fan!! Thanks Mel for a wonderful story!!

I received a copy of the book as part of a tour.

*Spoiler Alert*

I love Mel's books. I developed an author crush after reading Shattered Into Beautiful and Shameless did not disappoint. Mel has a way of writing a story that makes me connect with the main character on a level that makes me weep. I know the agony that Ren felt at the loss of Elle. I have felt that level fo grief and blamed myself for the death of a loved one. It is never an easy cross to bear and Mel has brought that to life with Ren and Stefan's story.
I have to tell you that Ren is a better person than I would have ever been. I don't think I would have given Tucker the time of day after the bullshit from high school. I have a hard time forgiving and forgetting. ;)

Greek gods need to have their own website or something. I am in lust with the man that Mel has created as Stefan! He is beautifully flawed and I find that incredibly sexy in a man. He knew he had issues but he was always hoping to be the man that Ren deserved. He wanted her to know that she was his everything and I love the way they connected.

This is on my keeper list, kittens. IF you are not familiar with Mel Ballew, you need to get to know her. She is awesome, talented and writes one helluva story.

Shameless is such an uplifting inspirational story about moving on and forgiving yourself and others for past mistakes. Nobody is perfect. we all do things we're not proud of and sometimes we can be our own worst enemies, but what Ms. Ballew has taught us in this beautifully constructed story is that finding inner peace can be your saving grace.

I really enjoyed this book & Ms. Ballew's writing style. The younger cast of characters was refreshing as well as entertaining b/c they all have such spunky personalities. The story line is unique and intriguing, a welcome change of pace from the typical New Adult novels as of late. The prologue will definitely catch your attention and set the tone for the rest of the book.

Side Note: I especially loved the 80's theme/references as I am a huge fan of that decade! I could totally relate to their love of the music, movies & fashion.

The last 30% is pure drama with a totally unexpected plot twist. I had my own theory going as to who was stalking Ren but boy was I wrong. I love getting caught off guard & totally surprised. Be prepared to swoon, cry, smile like a fool and totally fall in love with this book!

I rated ShameLess with FOUR AND ONE HALF LEAVES! This is such a wonderful book. I enjoyed this story from start to finish. S'renaty James is a girl who has been through a lot of loss in her life. She is at school trying to slowly move on with her life. Stefan has also been through a lot and is searching for someone who makes him feel whole again. When Ren and Stefen meet, sparks fly immediately. I like that this book was not predictable like a lot of books out there are. There were twists and turns that I never saw coming. I really enjoy that in a book.
This story was very well written. I felt every emotion from both of these characters. It has been a long time since a book has actually made me cry but with ShameLess, that happened. I was in the story with these characters and I was feeling their every emotion. That is when you know that the author hit the spot with her writing. I recommend the book to all of our FALLowers and anyone else who may read this!

This is a tough one. This book started out fantastic for me. S'renity has to overcome the death of her best friend and the subsequent bullying. And I really felt her pain at the beginning. I thought for sure it was 5 stars and I was really excited. It had me in tears in the first 10 min. But then...something happened. All of a sudden there were big holes in the story. I kept having to backtrack to see if I missed a part. This growth that you are supposed see Ren go through is skipped over. And then there were some twists that came out of nowhere. And not in a good way, but in like a...wtf kinda way. If all that was going to happen, I felt like the book should be 4 times longer to delve into it all. The dialogue between the characters and the inner monologues became sort of overly formal. I just kept hoping it was going to go back to how it started...
It was still a good story overall. I thought it was a great story before all the plot twists and I felt like those took away from the whole thing. I'm giving it 3 stars because it started out so great, but I was left underwhelmed.

An amazing contemporary young adult novel by Mel Ballew. Twists and turns. Suspense, drama, and tragedy. Yet in the end love and grace will overcome all. This book will appeal to all ages and readers of many different genres! Mel did a wonderful job with drawing you into the very personal point of view of each character. Mel does a great job with her dialogue, and setting a scene that you can envision in your head. Now, everytime I see a butterfly, I think of peace, joy, and Stefan taking S'renaty to the cemetary. This book is a different genre than we have seen from Mel prior, and is a more simple style of writing. This only goes to show she can do it all well. If you want a great read, BUY IT!! Mel does such a great job with her characters that you will want to hear their stories too!! Though this is not a cliffhanger, you will love all the characters and want to another book. FEARLESS PLEASE??

"Shameless" is the endearing story of S'renaty (Ren), a young woman living with pain of a terrible tragedy that happens her senior year of high school. Full of emotion and soul-searching thoughts, "Shameless" reminds us how short life is, how important it is to forgive yourself and recognizing the minute it is time to move on. Mel Ballew incorporates some of the most beautiful quotes and really transports you into the raw story of Ren, making it impossible to put this book down!

I had the privilege of beta reading this book. Shameless grabs your interest from the first page and keeps you guessing until the end. It was a fast-paced romantic suspense that kept your heart pounding... from both the sweet love story and the intrigue! I loved the alternating POVs - especially Stefan's. I always love reading from the guy's perspective and his does not disappoint. Each chapter starts with a thought provoking quote that resonates throughout the book until the grand finale. Fans of romantic suspense will enjoy this new novel by Mel Ballew.

Do not waste your time

This book has some of the absolute worst writing I have ever read. If I didn't know better I would think it was written by a teenager. Run on sentences and then some big words thrown in to appear smart? The worst

Love…Forgiveness…Hope! These are the three words that I’d use in describing ShameLess. There were many epic events that occurred throughout the story that had huge impacts on the main characters and the plot. There’s suspense, tragedy, laughter, and love in ShameLess.

Mel literally had me at the first sentence of the story. Her words in those few words pulled at me to continue reading to see what drama would unfold. Mel has a way of using her words to captivate her readers. She made me feel as if I were living through Ren and Stefan, feeling what they felt and needing what they needed/wanted.

Since there were some substantial tragic events, I’m not going to lie that there were many a times I found myself either tearing up or full on “ugly girl crying.” But there were many times I found myself laughing and rooting for Ren and Stefan’s love. They were both filled with so much pain, anguish, and shame. Blaming themselves for years both for unforeseen situations and past mistakes, they found courage together to love and live again. Most of all, they both found HOPE. Hope for forgiveness. Hope for courage. Hope in knowing that love truly does conquer all.

After reading ShameLess, there is a richer sense of understanding for me about what it truly means to LOVE, FORGIVE, and HOPE! Love hard. Forgive yourself or others for past mistakes. Hope for a better tomorrow.

Healing is essential for anyone who wants to move on from a past that continuously pulls them back. Don’t lose yourself to regrets, shame, and mistakes that have happened in the past. The best thing to do is to face/learn from the past and work towards the future.

It was an amazing story and well-written. Would I recommend ShameLess? Would I read another story by Mel? To those two questions – HECK YEAH!
