All Sandy Davis wants is to forget about romance. Romance is for other people, not for her. She’s been rejected too many times and doesn’t want anything else to do with it. To escape, she writes an epic fantasy, picturing herself as the queen who rises against the threat of King Blackheart who is determined to conquer her kingdom.
Just as she’s going to write the ending where she kills him, he arranges it so that he takes her into the story. But he doesn’t abduct her so she’ll be his prisoner. His plan is to make her his wife and prove that he’s not the villain she’s made him out to be.
*This is book 3 in the Across the Stars Series
Across the Stars Series Book 1: Suddenly a Bride Book 2: Runaway Bride Book 3: His Abducted Bride
What's to say? I write a lot. I read often. I sleep little. Once in awhile, I've been known to clean the house. A number of kids live in my house and there's this guy they call dad and I call husband. All in all, it's a pretty good life. :-)
His Abducted Bride by Ruth Ann Nordin Across The Stars Series Book 3 Sandy Davis keeps striking out with men so she turns to writing in her spare time. To her surprise she ends up with some very pushy characters, one who wants to tell her how to write her story. Suddenly Sandy finds herself living life inside her book and all control has been taken away from her. And she’s given an ultimatum….change your story or else!
Gavin Blackheart is not the evil killing beast that the author has made him. He is desperate to prove himself to her before she kills him off. What can a king do but kidnap the queen, or in this case the author, and force her to see things his way. She may be stubborn but his life depends on being more stubborn.
This is the third book in this series. Sandy’s friend Caitlyn finds happiness when Chris comes from another world and claims her as his wife. Sandy had hopes of snagging Chris’s outer world friend Mark as her own, but he had other plans. Finally Sandy gets her story and of course just like Caitlyn she didn’t quite find herself an everyday normal man. **Sexual content within marriage http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
This was super childish to read. Sarah and Gavin bicker like 5 year olds and the premise of this whole story was ridiculous. I felt like the author was projecting her own immature desires to be loved by a fictional warrior king who just so happens to kidnap her and suck her into a fantastical world created by - surprise! - herself. I don't know why I finished reading the book. I already knew it was going to be disappointing in the end, but I hate leaving things left unfinished/unread...
This book had so much potential. For one there was way too much time spent at the beginning with the hero trying to get his point across. I loved the first two off the series which involved aliens that come and stay at Earth. Although a character from the first two series is in it, the author takes a big turn and it's more about a fantasy of entering a story in a book. The entire time, especially since she had hinted at virtual reality on the other planet, I was assuming another alien would end up being involved. It would have been such a great twist to have it turn out that a real person was behind the storybook entering fantasy, one that could have went along with such a creative fascinating way she had written about the other two couples. Who knows, maybe Ruth Ann might revisit that topic. All in all an interesting read, with enough spice (thankfully within marriage and no cheating) but certainly not a PG rating
This book was different from the others in the series. It wasn't a historical romance or a marry someone from another planet story. It was more of a fantasy story instead. It wasn't too bad. I was surprised I liked it since the author changed her recipe of her series in this book.
This was about 2.5 stars for me. There were some things I liked about the story but several things I didn't. Overall it was a quick, interesting read but it wasn't among her better works, which was a disappointment as I was really intrigued by the premise.
I didn't read the first two in the series but based on the descriptions and reading this one, I have no idea why it is part of that series -- the other two are men from other planets, this one is a fictional character. I think it should have been a standalone book and the backstory with the friend (who is from the first book - the ONLY connection the series) could have been written as anyone.
I liked the characters and the dialogue and progression of their relationship although it seemed like her stubbornness to see his side seemed a bit stretched. I get that he had some glimpse of her world through her computer files but him saying "bummer" and other clearly modern terms, really made no sense to me when he was written as a medieval character. I didn't have to have him speak Old English or even say "milady," but "bummer"? Just didn't work.
Also, the whole bit about a modern bathroom and toilet in her medieval castle in the story that she wrote made absolutely no sense.
I wish Petros' character had been developed a little more - such as his plans (besides being evil) but that's not a deal breaker.
Overall it was an interesting read; I just felt there was less attention to detail than other books of hers.
Sandy is writing a fantasy novel to escape loneliness and boredom. But what she doesn't expect is that the world she created comes to life for real, and that the King Blackheart who she plans to kill at the end, to abduct her and bring her to his castle to force her to change her mind about killing him off or marrying to keep her in his world, because he isn't the villain she has portrayed him to be in the story. As time goes by in fantasy world Sandy and Gavin,King Blackheart, get to know one another, and she sees he really isn't the villain but the man she loves.
Another great story by Ruth Ann Nordin. I love reading her books. Can't wait to read more from this author.
I did like the story but it was not as good as the first two books. I didn't understand why Sandy was so stubborn and wouldn't listen to what Gavin was saying to her. She kept insisting she was the author and the characters feelings weren't important. Then all of a sudden she wanted him and was in love. What happened to lusting after his body or an unexplainable attraction that draws her to him. That didn't happen but they still ended up together despite the lack of chemistry. So many opportunities to make this an even better story that was completely overlooked and then wrapped up to abruptly. So So book, good plot but fell short.
Sandy was abducted by King Blackheart, the villain on the book she was writing. She was abducted to let her know and see that he was not a villain she thought he was. Yes, she was brought inside the book by a magic portal. They got married and eventually fall in love. I love the sacrifice King Blackheart made. He left everything, his kingdom, his power his people, to come to reality and live with Sandy. Now its a happy ending, I love happy endings!
Sandy Davis has been engaged and then dumped, set up on a "date" with Mark but turns out Mark runs off to marry Lexie. Sandy has determined that she is meant to be alone. As you know if you have read the first two books, you can't stay single forever in a romance story. I was so not ready for this series to end. I can say that I will be reading this series again in the near future.
I just did not like this one as much as the first two. The Hero did everything by force. It felt way too much like rape to me. I did not like that at all. I also was disappointed that this one was not about aliens but about book characters come to life? Very odd...
The blurb for this book pulled me in enough that I decided to start reading from book 1. These are cute reads, but they are definitely cleaner/lighter than I've been reading lately. It made for a nice change of pace. These make for a good beach read/chick lit type of read.
The story concept is creative and one I haven't encountered before. The fantasy entwined with romance makes the plot interesting but the dialogue could be better developed. For an experienced published author I could expect more. The story though is one of my favorites despite its short comings
Once I started this charming book, I couldn't stop reading it. It was a delightful, fun read and I loved the characters. It was a sweet romance with the perfect ending. In this book, the characters do come to life and what fun the author has creating their personalities and interactions.
Hmmm.... don't know what to say. I really wish the story would have stayed with the Pandoran men instead of characters of a book becoming alive..... I was kinda lost....
A different concept the original storyline was a nice diversion in a typical romance where the general plot is obvious from the start. An easy to read romance.
