This was a nice, one month freebie devotional that I downloaded from Amazon Kindle. I was pretty happy with this overall. There is a daily writing, based on a scripture reference, with a nice prayer at the end. I found each day helpful to me, which I think is the mystery of the Holy Spirit, that each day can have something applicable, no matter what is going on in your life. I thought the prayers were well written, and short and sweet. It's good to have a nice little pre-written prayer if you're not confident in your prayers, even though prayer is just conversation with God, who loves you no matter what. I do have to say the one prayer about being a submissive wife didn't work for me (yeah, I'm not a big believer in that), but otherwise, they were all great.
I can't say anything more other than I recommend this one if you happened to pick it up free.

The first thing I noticed about this book was that it was gorgeous. The book itself is small, journal like, and has a purple leather cover with it's own bookmark which is perfect for keeping track of where you are.
The set-up is simple. In the upper corner of the page is the day which the devotional is supposed to be read. At the top is a Bible verse, then a small devotion, and a prayer follows. Each page is a different day so the devotions are not very long, perfect for anyone who has just a small amount of time to read. What I also appreciated was the fact that the pages contained the Bible verses so that a person does not need to consult with a Bible unless they would like to read more verses around the one that was discussed. This book is not only a quick read, but an excellent way to get an uplifting dose of God and all that He does for His children.
I enjoyed this devotional and will no doubt read it again at the start and throughout next year. What this reminded me of was going over to my grandparents house and after supper my grandfather would pull out his Bible and read it along with a devotion to everyone present. That is one of my favorite memories and reading these devotions made me feel like he was still around.

As December draws to a close and a new year begins my thoughts turn to making New Year's resolutions and setting new goals. It's also the perfect time to select a new companion devotional for my quiet time with the Lord.
Barbour's collection of powerful devotions for 2014, penned by women for women, remind readers "how deeply and tenderly God loves" them. The inspirational daily readings of thoughts, scripture and prayer refresh the soul and encourage spiritual growth and intimacy with the Lord.
The title of January's opening devotion for New Years day, "Do Over" caught my attention. The foundation scripture from Isaiah 43: 18-19 says "Forget about what happened before, and do not think about the past..."
The reading is about fresh starts, new beginnings and leaving the past behind which is what a New Year offers…Full Review: http://www.examiner.com/list/daily-wi...
New Year's is a great time to find a new devotional book to carry you through the upcoming year. Just something about starting a new year with a new purpose seems to spark this need, at least it does in me!
Two of my favorite year-long devotionals are Daily Wisdom For Women and the 3-Minute Devotionals for Women from Barbour Publishing. These two books are beautifully bound in gorgeous purple leather this year, and contain within them wonderful scripture, meaningful advice and beautiful prayers for each day of the year.
I love these books and keep them nearby to have a quiet reflection time each day. If you are looking for a bit of quick renewal and refreshment to your day, these books will be just perfect for that.

I received this book yesterday, and I was struck at first by how beautiful it was. It has a gorgeous purple leather (or possibly faux-leather) cover. The layout is simply lovely. It is basically a 'words of wisdom' for women calendar. At the top corner of each page is the day and date for 2014, and there is a small story or anecdote on each page. Of course I cheated and looked ahead. :-p I'm never good at simply reading things one day at a time. I prefer to sit down and read it all at once.
It is a lovely book that I would recommend to any Christian woman. Wonderful.

I have not read the entire book as I hope to complete the daily devotionals in 2014. However, I started through and immediately noticed a few features that I love - each devotional begins with the scripture and ends with a simple, yet eloquent prayer. The topics seem right on point for busy women. I would have liked to see a Topic index, in addition to the scripture index, but I am very excited to put this to use in the coming year. As others have mentioned, the book is beautifully bound, so it would also make a nice gift.
I really enjoyed the format of this devotional book: first a verse from Scripture, then a bit about how we can apply the verse to our lives, and finally a short prayer that specifically asks God to help us apply the Scripture in our hearts. Unlike last year's devotional when I felt like I was reading someone's personal journal (and felt like I was missing levels of depth because of it!), this devotional felt intimate and personal while still allowing me (and I presume, all readers) a chance to make the application personal. 4.5 stars
I felt that this book had too much "fluff". Rather than challenging devotions that had me digging deep into God's Word, the entries in this were too impersonal. There seemed to be a lot of generalities and not much for conviction, as if the book was more about making folks feel good than about challenging them to live like Christ--even if that means changing the way they think or act.
No, I did not finish reading this book. I stopped because when I study the Bible, I want meat, not milk.
The ebook copy I had was for the month of January and it was such a great devotional and I hated that it was only for a month. I wish this was for the whole year like I thought it was but I got this free so I can't complain. If you are looking for a devotional this is a great one, just make sure you get the one for the full year instead of the January copy only.
I love this devotional. Each day has a scripture followed by a daily thought. I like that it isn't overwhelming, just short and sweet. I read the first day of the year and it really made sense. Instead of making new years resolutions, empty promises, we should just think about how we can make a fresh start to please our father and better our lives.
This book is fairly basic. It's quite inspirational, but I find it a stretch to call it a devotional. The scriptural content is minimal, and the prayers lack substance. The content is Bible based, though, and it's accurate.
I try to ensure that I read a devotional each day. This particular devotional holds meaningful insights for each day, and I had no problem keeping on track. I truly looked forward to it!
I liked this devotional for January. It was free for the Kindle. At the end was an offer to buy the book that includes devotions for the whole year. I didn't like it that much, but I am very picky about what I buy.
I think this book was great,I enjoyed it and thought it hit on great subjects and helps open your eyes in a whole new direction or to help you embrace the holy spirit even more!
This little devotional seemed to speak right to me. I loved the scripture and the little story to follow. I will definitely use the prayers to help me in my day to day journey with God.
This is a great devotional for any women that feels that she needs to spend more time with God. The daily reads are about a page and a half. Each day contains a scripture, a story, and a prayer. I'm seriously considering purchasing the entire book.
This devotional has an excellent format, relative stories, pertinent messages, and is full of uplifting prayers and sources of things to meditate on. Excellent edition to my life walk. Thank you contributors. This book is highly recommended.
A fresh perspective for us girls to start the day. In our busy, chaotic world, it's important we start our day with Jesus. Try this one. You will enjoy it.
This book was wonderful. It was written with faith and God's help. I would recommend this for anyone. It will give your heart ease with scripture and prayer.
