Rate this book
From the writers of the post-apocalyptic smash hit serial, Yesterday's Gone, and Z 2134, comes Available Darkness, a new breed of vampire serial thriller.

**BE SURE TO READ THE NOTE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS DESCRIPTION REGARDING THE ORIGINAL BOOK IF YOU READ THAT.

AVAILABLE DARKNESS: EPISODE 5

The Darkness Has Awoken

FBI Special Agent Caleb Baldwin is on the hunt for a serial killer who has left a trail of burned bodies. One of those victims — his wife. As he gets closer to finding the killer, he falls deeper into an elaborate conspiracy.

A man wakes buried alive with no memory of who or what he is. In his pocket, a note: “Avoid the sunlight and don’t touch anybody.” Now he is being hunted by the FBI while trying to remember his monstrous past. He must control the darkness within before it consumes him and the child whose life he must protect.

11-year-old Abigail was dying slowly each day as the prisoner of a sick man. Until she is saved by the most unlikely of heroes — a vampire with a deadly touch. He is her only hope, and she may hold the key to unlocking the memories of his hidden past.

Past, present, fate, and future are on a collision course as the hours of AVAILABLE DARKNESS are ticking away and a force greater than anything the world has ever seen threatens humanity.

Available Darkness is an epic serialized journey that reinvents vampire mythology with a fast paced, character-driven thriller that blends action, mystery, fantasy, and horror in an addictive, tragically romantic story.

As usual, episode prices will be .99 during the season. After we release the full compilation on Oct. 31, episodes will go to $2.99, but the full season will be available for $5.99.

3.5 stars.
I was going to award it 4 but as I read another book alongside it which I've rated 4.5,I realised that's there's definitely a star between them rather than half.
I love platt and Wright's writing and I'm a big big fan of theirs but this one didn't quite grab me enough to award it anymore than 3.5 stars.
I enjoyed the start how John woke up within a coffin and then escapes whilst realising his powers of basically being a vampire but rather than bite people,he just needed to touch them to drain their life force.
It was also a good interaction between the young girl Abi who John saves but however can't touch her due to his powers. The bond they build is strong but hampered by John being unable to touch her or hug her but we get to see the real side of John, the human side and the connection he builds with Abi which is touching(pardon the pun!).
But after all this, somewhere in the middle I just lost my way with it a little, perhaps it was me comparing it to their other books I've read but it just seemed a little average.
However, the ending was good and piqued my attention again which set it up nicely for book number 2.
Overall,a good solid book but not my favorite by these guys.

He was the man without a past. The police were hunting him and at least one person had seemingly buried him alive. And of course, there was the fact that he might be a vampire, or monster of some sort.

Sean Platt is the Stephen King of horror!!
A man who was buried alive wakes up in his coffin, with no idea of his identity nor how he got there. Nearby, a dark-haired girl was abducted…

This was one of the first combination authors I read (Platt, Sean/Wright, David) and I would happily read this combination again! Was very good and if you like Sean Platt or David Wright as a stand alone author, you'll like these books!!

Not what you would expect

I am to these two authors, but have loved everything I have read so far. This is no exception. This is definitely not your Twilight kind of vampires. John, Abi and Larry are fast becoming some of my favorite characters

Truly cannot give a review. I found it hard to get into and this was difficult because I usually finish a book whether I like it or not. Maybe I'll try it again some other time.

Let me start by saying this is not your typical vampire story. Platt and Wright introduce the reader to a new breed of vampire that is vastly different from what we're used to... and I love it! Other worlds, feeders, and monsters (human and other) abound in this novel. I had no idea how vast, imaginative, and incredible of a world I was diving into when I bought this book. At the halfway mark, I went and got the second one because I knew I would want to start it immediately. John, Caleb, Abigail, and the rest of the cast are fleshed out, and detailed characters that you want to know more about. I don't want to spoil anything but let's just say these vampire don't suck! If you're wanting to read a fast paced, action, horror, character driven thriller than you need to click buy on this right now!

This was good, probably almost a great read...but not quite. Likeable characters, a couple of subtle twists and shifts and an original concept which I enjoyed. Why only 3 stars then? Well I wasn't hooked, a 4 or 5 star book has me walking to pick the kids up from school with my nose in the iPhone kindle app...this didn't get my attention anywhere near that much. But people should read it, because I love these guys and their serials, and whilst maybe this just was not my favorite, it wasn't bad, or even mediocre by any stretch of the imagination, it just wasn't up there with Yesterday's Gone, or the White Space series which blew me away...not for me anyway

While Available Darkness still didn't become my favorite series from Wright and Platt (let's see if season 2 changes that), it is still a great story with characters you will want to learn more about. I didn't think I would be into vampire stories, but I enjoyed this story and will continue to season two right now!

These guys can really tell a story! Suspense, great characters, and twists and turns meant I pretty much read it in one sitting. I was glad I had the whole season so I didn't have to wait to see what was next!

These are two of my favorite authors, If you like dystopian fantasy then you will love their books, great three dimensial characters, edgy dialogue, stories that move along at an exciting pace with amazing cliffhangers. ..this was definitely a vampire story with a difference , really enjoyed it.

A different kind of vampire - they don't drink your blood. They suck the life force right outta ya, and burn you to a crisp. This is a compilation of 6 episodes of a serialized novel. Easy and fast read. On to Season 2!

Just full on enjoyed how they did the vampires. Not typical, not cheesy. Great serial. Working on the 2nd season right now. Pretty much a major fan of everything these guys put out.
