This book is an easy read, which contains very short sentences. The book is particular useful for younger children (early years), children can engage and enhance their phonetic awareness.

I think this book can be used very well in a special school setting, the story can be animated with props and children can easily engage in the story due to the use of repetition. Depending on the props available the children could easily choose and practically make Dan fly over the house or crane. The story can become as animated as you wish depending on your pupils needs for example you could also do an outdoor activity where you teach your class to make airplanes and fly them outside.

This is a very simple book to read. It is good for younger children to help foster retell/recall skills and phonemic awareness skills. And its fun because Dan is flying!
